OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
divastropwantstodrop · 26/02/2007 21:30

dp saw that msg over my shoulder and said 'i didnt think gcses were around in your day'.

LunarSea · 26/02/2007 21:35

fox - I'm getting that too from the inlaws. They'll have ds when I go into hospital, but only if it happens during daylight! Fortunately my nice neighbour would have him for a few hours if necessary, and my friend who lives just around the corner from the hospital has volunteered too, so I guess we'll muddle through if we have to.

foxabout2pop · 26/02/2007 21:42

Lunar - I don't want you to feel anxious like me but I'm glad I'm not the only one IYKWIM!!!

My local thread have set up a "Foxie's back up crew" rota in case I need them, but I just feel very sad that on the day I may have to rely on people I met on the internet to look after my DCs, rather than my own family!!!

Also I don't feel comfortable having to rely on other people somehow.

lisjane2 · 26/02/2007 21:49

hi all,
Sorry i don't get to come on here much as my computer hates loading you this page!! wonder why??
It's amazing how suddenly how important you are in the last weeks!!?? MW this week and more bloods, Scan next week and ANC. work have given me like 10 shifts! i'm sure they have not received my letters about being pregnant!!! and i put them in with my times sheet!
I have about 3 or 4 people who will look after DS but it's me who keeps changing my mind. i'm hoping for a quick labour and that he doesn't have to stay anywhere or i'd just be worrying how he is and if he has everything.

foxabout2pop · 26/02/2007 21:59

Lisa - I suppose its natural to worry about our DCs when they are away from us isn't it? I keep thinking "I hope the labour is quick, so whoever is looking after the DCs isn't inconvenienced too much"!

DS is quite stressed about the whole idea of mummy and daddy being away, plus the fact that Queen Charlottes have banned visitors under 14 because they're so sick of people bring bugs in (the hopsital have nil MRSA and trying to get in is like trying to get through Fort Knox - a good thing I suppose).

I just wish I felt able to have a home birth but my age and dodgy placenta have made that not an option...

lisjane2 · 26/02/2007 22:07

fox - we're allowed 2 visiters a time and only between 2-3 and 7.30-8.30, can be any age i think but i'll be in for nearly 4 days for them to keep an eye on my blood and i''ll miss him.
there was once this horrible nursey nurse last time who i'm sure has not had kids but she was having a right go at the visitors if they stayed longer than the hour!! Labour last time was only 5 hours so i've heard that they sometimes go quicker second time?? or maybe i'm dreaming!!??

TheBlonde · 26/02/2007 22:08

I'm also mildly concerned on the childcare front - it all depends on the day/time which is unpredictable!

lisjane2 · 26/02/2007 22:12

my god! my OH is like some little kid!! on my shoulder going " my turn now!!" as he waits to go on the net!! god i'll have 3 boys to look after when this one is born!! and i'm only 22!!

divastropwantstodrop · 26/02/2007 22:21

my hospital allows partners and(your own)children any time between 10am and 8pm,apart from they get chucked out for lunch and tea time(but thats flexible depending on the circumstances).

fox-i hate having to rely on other people.when i was on my own and pregnant i had friends who offered to come and look after the kids if i went into labour but i would have been more likely to give birth in my own bathroom then actually have the nerve to ring somebody at stupid o'clock in the morning.

divastropwantstodrop · 26/02/2007 22:22

lisjane-i dont know how people cope with sharing a computer

sazzybee · 26/02/2007 23:40

I don't have kids but I'd rather call a cab than get my neighbours to drive me to the hospital - even though they've offered. I don't know why - it just seems such an intimate experience to share with the people who live upstairs!
And I am well old enough to have done O levels
Right - well after quite a lot of thinking and research and some excellent advice in childbirth, particularly from you dolly you star, I've decided to have the induction. So I'll be going in on the 8th and having the baby on the 9th! Kind of takes away some of the drama but I don't want to put LO at risk. So two days after you diva!
And I'll be home for the weekend with any luck. Which is dead handy as parking restrictions here are a nightmare during the week

eidsvold · 27/02/2007 03:26

we have a plan for the c-section. I have to be at the hospital at 6.30am!! It is a 40 minute drive roughly for us to get to the hospital depending on traffic - should not be too bad then.

However I was going to leave dds with my mum who had volunteered to look after them but that would have meant leaving home at 5AM to get them to my mum's and settled before we trundled off to hospital.

Luckily I was telling my great aunt about this and she has offered to come and stay the night before and that means that dd1 can go to sn kindy as she would normally do on a Friday. Then aunt just has dd2 to look after - dd2 is a doodle - just take her shopping, let her have cake and a drink, take her home, lunch and then rest.

We are hoping given that I am first on the list I should be in pretty quickly - they have more operating theatres than they had when I had dd2 ( was booked for 10am - got into theatre around 3.30pm - due to emergencies.) SO dh said if that was the case he would duck home to pick up dd1 from kindy and dd2 and aunt and bring them back to the hospital to visit.

for us - partners and children anytime. Everyone else 11 -1 and then 3 - 8pm.

however should I go into labour during my 38th week - no real plan - just call someone to sit with girls- aunt works but could be here within the hour. Get ambulance to hospital - dh works in childrens hospital - part of same complex. Hopefully won't need this plan.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 27/02/2007 06:42

Morning ladies!

Will reply properly when I'm in work - my penultimate day today hurray!

Well last night on the train home something happened to me that hasn't happened in a long, long time; I got chatted up!

Some fella, think he might have been in his early 40's, I'm not good with guessing ages, started talking to me, and then started asking me all questions like, was I married, (which I said I was, so it's not like he got the wrong end of the stick) that kind of thing, and then talked about taking me out for a drink once the baby was born!!!

Well I never. He got off two stops before me thankfully, as it was starting to feel very weird. What kind of bloke chats up a hugely pg woman?

Must admit, although I was rather nervous, at the same time it's nice to be noticed, even if it's for all the wrong reasons!

Speak properly later... hope you all have good mornings xxx

Bloody stupid computer has lost ANOTHER long post

I was goimg to say MOSSY how strange to be chatted up, that must have felt odd. Don't think i would have liked it, but some men find preg woman very attractive ( not my dp )

Sassy, glad you have made a decision you are happy with

I don't know what is going to happen to all my lot after the birth. I should start to gather the troups because I would like a least a couple of days bed rest and to be let off the cooking, dressing, bed times etc. Dp works from home but he still has to work. Better start doing some organising.

TheBlonde · 27/02/2007 09:31

lisjane2 - labour is supposed to be quicker 2nd time so if you are going to hospital don't leave it too late!

Haven't attempted to read all the posts
Hope everyone is feeling okay and not too swollen etc
DS woke up at 5am and wouldn't go back to bed so I'm already exhausted. Off to see MW later

foxabout2pop · 27/02/2007 10:37

Hi everyone -

Mossy - I think some men a have a "thing" about PG women . Are they giving you a send off tomorrow at work?

Am so fucked off today after that phone call from my Dad last night. I feel like phoning him and telling him I never want to speak to him again, but I can't because unfortunately I have to rely on him to look after the kids

When I had DD I remember I got back home from 4 days in hospital. He called me that night and started shouting down the phone at me about some stupid petty thing.

I have to contain my hormonal emotional state and not ring him. If and when he arrives on the big day I am going to ask DH to keep my Dad well away from me, or I'll probably tear his head off.

My god, I feel so hormonal ...

spongecake · 27/02/2007 10:59

hi everyone- feel all bouncy as actually slept all night last night -only got up twice think its because swapped sides with dp- no idea what prompted it btw. Just noticed my tens machine should be back by 6/3 even though dd is 15/3- glad I checked the paperwork..

was just worrying bump was v quiet- normally kicks all night and all day, when just got enormous kick in ribs- gr8 as do not want to spend day at hospital being monitored

diva, sounds like your mum did speak to clueless person at the station. poss related to the moron that told my mum the wrong train and she ended up adding an hour to her journey the other sat. she is 73 so I was v cross. which means I also did o levels... my dp is french so luckily he misses all these little pointers to my age can't beleive paul wellar is so old btw. oh and i think david tennent looks a bit like him when he is sneering at the camera

Piffle · 27/02/2007 11:36

Boo
Freudian slip was it
"bugger the prostaglandin"
I also feel like I'm sitting on a coconut.
But do seem to be nesting, doing more housework and stuff than usual...

I am just assuming sleep is going to be rubbish from now on, I've just learned to accept it.
Sprung out of bed at 5am with massive painful leg cramp ooh oww.
Also can't stop eating luckily it's mostly healthy but even so - of course it's for the baby who is busy laying down his little fat reserves...
No I've not packed my in case I'm transferred back but m/w did tell me to pakc one.
I'll do it... soon. Almost feel as if I do it I'm pre empting failure?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 27/02/2007 11:47

Well, I walked to the Dr's to pick up prescription. A journey that would normally take 5 mins each way. It took me over an hour, pushing buggy in the pouring rain. Then to toddler group where I managed to stay 5 mins before feeling quite faint with exhaustion and like I wanted to burst into tears. Very nice friends helped me , children and baggage back to the car.
Got home and phoned up dp saying I couldn't go out again today and promptly burst into tears. He was very lovely and is going to do lots of driving round for me. I realise now I have got to the stage where I can jut about cope with pottering round the house but going out anywhere is pretty much a no no

Piffle · 27/02/2007 12:00

kitty I gave up walking months ago,
I find pushing trolley round the supermarket for half an hour quite enough of a trial...
I used to walk everywhere

Crikey Braxtons have ramped up today and while not painful per se, they are bloody uncomfortable!!!

spongecake · 27/02/2007 12:07

kitty, i gave up walking anywhere ages ago, like piffle. i don't even go to the supermarket- dp goes with a list. I potter round the house and if I feel good might accompany dp to shops in car to get magazine and sit in car whist he runs errands its enough all that to-ing and fro-ing from the fridge to sofa....
where is everyone????

sazzybee · 27/02/2007 12:10

I had a rubbish night's sleep - was awake until about 5am and just woke up. I can only sleep 3 hours at a time max too. When I got up I remembered that one of the things I did in the middle of the night was clear out all the drawers in the kitchen
Luckily I have nothing I have to do this week and can just lie in bed. If I had children to care for, I'd collapse and cry or take to drink I think.
fox - I'm sorry about your dad. Sounds like the sort of thing mine would come out with. About as sensitive as a lump of wood.
I have had a couple of blokes come on to me since I've been very pregnant. I've found it very weird indeed and I don't like it. I think I must be a bit of a prude about that kind of thing - seems a bit wrong.
I've got 10 days before this baby gets here - what would you recommend I do? I'm going to get my hair cut, get my eyes tested and buy some new glasses and go to the cinema in the evening. What else should I do now before my freedom is seriously curtailed?

LunarSea · 27/02/2007 12:23

Funnily enough I've suddenly found that the whole walking thing has suddenly got easier - was pretty well back to normal speed taking ds to school this morning! On the downside over the last few days I've found that if I sit down for a while and then get up, it takes a few seconds for my legs to realign themselves (they sort of click back in at the hips) before I can walk at all. Yet once that's over the actual walking is great. Bizarre!

divastropwantstodrop · 27/02/2007 12:30

sazzy-im going to reply to you before i read any ohter messages.last time i was induced i went in on december 4th and had dd2 an the evening of december 6th,so we may well end up giving birth on the same day!
also,i wouldnt recommend having an eye test in late preg.i had one when 36 weeks with ds1,i didn't realise being pregnant had affected my eyesight and by the time ds1 was 2 weeks old the glasses i'd got were too strong and i coulnt see through them

sazzybee · 27/02/2007 12:35

diva - aargh I did wonder about the eye thing. I was convinced that I couldn't see properly through my contacts yesterday but thought it was just my pg brain. I'd better wait then.
I hope my induction doesn't take 2 days The doctor said my cervix looked very favourable yesterday when she had a look. I don't think anyone's ever complimented my cervix before
