rosylonginglily · 25/02/2007 12:30

So fox you want to do nesting tomorrow then [knowing nod emoticon}

sazzybee · 25/02/2007 12:38

I have had dreams about things around the birth but I don't think my poor little brain can actually imagine birth itself.
Mmmm Baileys. I could drink loads of it so I dare not have it in the house.
I really want a water birth too but all this 'you have to come in early' is making me think they're going to want to strap me to machinery so I'm going to have to find out if it's possible and then train my mum (who's my birthing partner) up to be quite pushy on my behalf I think. I really don't want to be strapped to a bed - that seems the fastest way to me to end up having to have an emergency c section.
fox - can you get your hubby to have his phone on vibrate as well as ring and keep it on his person? Or is that too simple?
eids - I'm so impressed you have the energy to support anyone else right now. I bet you'll be a great help to them
Today I need to repack my labour bags (it's so huge I'm going to split into a labour one and a c-section one so I'll just take the labour one with me and hope for the best. And write my birth plan!

divastropwantstodrop · 25/02/2007 12:57

sazzy-you only really end up strapped to the bed if you have to have the drip.you never know-you could go into labour after having one prostin.you do have to be monitored before and after having prostin but then you can get up and walk around etc.i dont know about using the birthing pool but i certainly had lots of baths (trying to speed things along) after having the prostin.

i gave birth on my knees/all 4's the last 2 times, and i had the drip in one arm,a blood pressure monitor strapped to the other, and the fetal heart monitor round my belly.oh,and the g+a in my gob

foxabout2pop · 25/02/2007 13:03

Diva - I have a lovely image of you now all strapped up on all fours!!

Rosy/Sazzy - yeah I just want to nest, nest, nest too

Sazzy - he needs to carry the phone - but then he promised me he carried the pager and didn't (it was left at the bottom of his bag)

sazzybee · 25/02/2007 13:22

Ooh nesting.
diva - thanks, that's useful (the information - not the image of you but that has made me LOL!). I have just added it into my birth plan.
Talking of birth plans - haven't seen anything from Leo for a while (she sent me hers). I wonder if she's had her babies?!
fox - yes, I was wondering if that was the case. Men are not that good at this kind of thing are they?

muppetisacat · 25/02/2007 13:45

Fully recovered from effects if the internal and sweep... no more bleeding so feeling more back to normal now.

Goodness me some of you are getting that nesty feeling aren't you???

Rosy - hope your dh makes it back sooner rather than later and doesn't bring any tummy bugs with him. That's the last thing you or the kids need to get at the mo.

Have to say I have no real desire to go into labour at the mo. Completely different from other times when i was chomping at the bit. Perfectly happy for lo to stay put - and then perhaps he can just teleport himself out at the right moment

38+1

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 25/02/2007 14:31

I wrote a really long post to you all and it's disappeared and now I'm too tired to do it again. Hello anyway!!

foxabout2pop · 25/02/2007 17:02

Oh Kitty I hate it when that happens - we'll all have to imagine what you said

Muppet - I felt like that a week ago, but I'm so darned uncomfortable now I just want to get Monti out.

We repacked our bags today and set Monti's moses basket up ready for him. I have a packed small suitcase and Monti has a rucksack with his teeny clothes, nappies, wipes and towel.

The DCs were "assisting" me and squealed when they saw how small Monti's first socks are

Oh dear, I just feel like a huge hefferlump now

divastropwantstodrop · 25/02/2007 17:17

i just feel all wierd, like i did about a day or 2 before i was due on when i wasnt preg.i feel like crying for no reason and i just want everybody to f off and leave me alone, plus i have pains in my lower back and pelvis but that could be wind.i keep wanting to tidy up and make sure everythings in its right place.i felt fine when i woke up this morning, this feeling has come over me in the last 2 hours.

muppetisacat · 25/02/2007 17:41

Poor foxy and poor diva... no fun feeling big and uncomfortable. It's rubbish isn't it that we have 9 months hard work growing these babes and the last few days we have b4 the main event are spent feeling like poo and being tetchy .

I'm sure it'll soon be all over for you both and then you can sit and read all our posts as we go through it all ourselves!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 25/02/2007 17:53

I have taken to being obsessed with cleaning the front of the kitchen cupboards which have lots of inlay in them and so have gathered lots of grease and dirt.
All I see around me is dirt.
Dp and I took all the kids for a swim today I knew this would be the last chance before lo arrives. I feel shattered now .
I haven't packed any bags yet, still lots of time, but it all seems so surreal.

sazzybee · 25/02/2007 18:18

My back was really hurting earlier but it was when I was doing the washing up. Now I'm on my bum again, it's got better
I like the idea of cleaning but can't be arsed to actually do any. To be honest though, he does feel very high up still so I don't think he's ready, despite all the predictions
I'm going to be really pissed off if he's really late when they've got my hopes up that he'll be early. Where's the list? Who's due first?

DollyPopsOut · 25/02/2007 18:37

Hello everyone

No news on my dad I am afraid. We thought that he was close to the end on Thursday night but he is still hanging on in there. I went to Sussex on Friday and have just got back. He is breathing on his own but doesn't recognise anyone and is very weak. I am glad to have seen him but now want to remember him as he was. My mum is bearing up incredibly and I feel quite calm now.

I haven't read all the messages since I last posted as there are too many!! Sazzy, can you add me to the list please? I am due on 26th March and am having a girl. She is supposed to be born by elective CS on 19th March, but I have had a lot of pain etc this weekend so wonder if I might go into labour anyway . That's a bit scary as dynamite wouldn't shift the last one.

Hope everyone is well and happy. Take care XXXX

rosylonginglily · 25/02/2007 18:46

Kitty well done for going swimming today. We intended to go but it fell through and I feel bad, the kids haven't been for so long.

Muppet you are so right about the tummy bug. Everytime we go to Multan we get a thing called cryptosperidium, so I bet that is what dh has and it is a horrible hideous bug, which recurs. I won't be kissing him when he turns up, I'll just pat him.

Diva maybe you are about to go into labour, the way you are feeling keep us posted

rosylonginglily · 25/02/2007 18:48

Dolly thinking about you and your family.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 25/02/2007 19:03

SHOPPING DONE! Phew!

Ended up getting the moses basket from ebay though 'cos Mothercare was expensive; I mean I know I have money now but I still can't justify spending over £50 (£30 ish for basket and £20 ish for stand) on something that might only last a few months!

Oh I am tired now though!

Have to say, breast pumps do look akin to something you'd find in a mediaeval torture chamber though!

Tip for any Ikea fans - go at night! We went last night and it was really, really quiet!

Right, where's everyone up to?

Diva, can't believe you scalded yourself you poor thing are you okay now? I am quite clumsy atm. But as for you feeding your poor dc's noodles lol!!!

(My dh is a member of the "food police" I dread the moment when poor Bertie starts to eat food and ends up with organic lentils hand grown by a woman in a poncho in Somerset!)

Foxy / Kitty and the rest of you "nesters" I have to say it hasn't kicked in for me yet, I'm still as messy as always! Had the odd brief moment of tidying over the past month but the rest of the house is a tip and it's not getting to me just yet...

Eids I am well impressed with your energy. I'm sure you'll be brill and that family will get loads of support from you.

Sazzy at the hospital I'm going to, if they induce you they monitor you, and it's in a different unit than the birth centre, so you can't go in the pool. However I checked with the mw, she said that even though you will be monitored you can still labour in whatever position you want. I would imagine most places would be similar?

Magpie why would they induce you on your EDD I thought you could go over by about ten days - two weeks before talk of inducing would begin?

Foxy DT is on telly tonight in a one off drama on the beeb called "Recovery". It's about a chap who has a really bad accident and ends up losing his memory. Anyway he was on the telly this morning talking about it, and how he's now, through learning about it for his role, decided to become a patron of a charity that helps people who suffer from memory loss as a result of accidents.

Anyway dh said, "oh well he bloody would wouldn't he. What's next? Walking through the streets of Cardiff laying on hands? Turning water into wine perhaps? Actually no that's not worthy enough. Perhaps he'll try to help alcoholics by turning wine into water."

I pointed out that he should be pleased that a chap is bringing quirky geekiness with sideburns back into fashion but he was having none of it!

Oh and good luck with the bank charges Foxy it's stressful but it's worth it!! What bank are you with?

Xposts, Dolly sorry about your Dad it must be awful for you

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 25/02/2007 19:49

Dolly - oh I hope your Dad gets better [big hugs to you].

Mossy - My bank is Abbey. Sent the letter today so I don't forget once Monti appears.

Apparently DT gets naked in recovery tonight!!! [swoon]

Dh did lots of tidying up today, under my close supervision, seeing as I am too huge to do anything

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 25/02/2007 19:57

Dolly, sorry your dad isn't getting better atm, you must be very worried and stressed you poor thing.

Foxy/mossy how on eath can you fancy DT? He's such a spindly little man. Not ugly, but hardly oozing sex appeal Ah well, at least you won't be trying to nick my tv boyfriends from me

divastropwantstodrop · 25/02/2007 20:30

dolly-sorry to hear things still arent too good with your dad,i hope he improves.

moss-my dp used to have the healthy food attitude when i first met him.after 6 months of my dcs his spirit was broken and he now has the same 'take it out the freezer and shove it in the cooker/frying pan/microwave' attitude i have

i have the official nhs induction of labour leaflet here, and it says your baby's heartbeat will be monitored before and after prostaglandins are given, then if everything is ok the mw will remove the monitor and you will be free to move around.
when i was induced with dd2 i was given my first pessary at 10am on the sunday and wasnt dilated enough to go to labour ward untill 12pm on the tuesday

if you do have to have the drip, things tend to happen rather quickly.

i dont think anythings happening to me,i keep getting bh's and i still have the backache but they are all over the place and not lasting very long.

kiwibella · 25/02/2007 20:33

please welcome another wee girl to the thread!! We are very surprised but proud to announce that our bubba arrived at 1:26pm on Saturday afternoon. Everything went well... as well as can be expected... and she is a contented wee lass who hasn't done much other than sleep or eat since.

I hope that things are ok for everybody else. I look forward to checking back in and reading all your updates. But for now, for me and my big girl, it's time for a snooze .
Lots of love B x x
