Mossy - how many days do you have left at work?

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 10:37

Only five. Including today. So I know I shouldn't moan really!

Thanks for the congrats everyone.
Her name is Jessica Elizabeth after an early start with Beth. DH finally admitted he didn't really like it after all so Jessica made a let entry ( it hadn't even been on my shortlist).
She's at the Wesley now after being transferred from the Mater earlier today as they needed her bed. It's a lovely nursery - much smaller and quieter than the Mater. I'm just wondering how to juggle visits to see her and start BFing with 1 or 2 visits a day whilst having a VERY clingy toddler who is still smarting from my 6 day hospital stay. We are lucky to have DH's family around and lots of lovely friends all of whom have offered help, but I don't feel I can farm out my DD1 all over the place. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. DH got back from the USA on the Tuesday after my CS which was on the Sunday - he'd only just arrived in the USA and managed 1/2 day of skiing before having to fly back. Oh well, it was a bit daft arranging a trip when I was 33 weeks pregnant.
Thanks for the CS healing tip - I'll give that a go. Actually, the scar is doing very well and apart from a small tender spot on the L hand side from a forceful sneeze on day 3, it's really good. I've been driving since day 8!

late entry

AngeG · 22/02/2007 11:02

Hi there all

Just gate crashing from the due in April thread.

Congratulations Flannelettepyjames. Your birth story sounds just like mine 3.5 yrs ago with ds1. He was born at 33wks by emergency section and weighed 2lbs 10oz after 2 wks of not growing and my BP shooting up. He spent just 3wks in Special care before coming home at 3lbs 12oz. He is now 3.5yo and you'd never know he had been so tiny.

Hope all continues to go well for you.

LunarSea · 22/02/2007 11:12

flannelettepyjamas - reading your story I'm very relieved now that nothing happened during dh's ski trip when I was 34 weeks.

Only just over another week of full time working now - but then 3 weeks of approx half time. And I now get to officially start mat leave 2 days after EDD becaue it can only start on a Sunday and!

AmieR · 22/02/2007 11:29

thanks for all the well wishes! will post pic when can find usb cable! lol

Joe fed every 2 hours last night! I got about 3.5hours sleep and Sam about 5! so I'm sure today we'll try and get a few zzzz's while the lil' man does!

Midwife visit went well, he's back to his birth weight!

off to mothercare to get some tiny undergarments as we only have 3!

lunar- that sounds great!

eidsvold · 22/02/2007 11:36

flanno pjs another helpful thing - arnica tablets help with healing as well. I also used paper towels to pat wound dry to sotp it 'pulling'.

make sure you take care of yourself too as well as everyone else.

Jessica was one of the names we considered.

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 11:38

Lovely name Flannel and much sympathy because you are having to juggle so much now and you have a stressed out toddler too, I hope things settle a bit very soon and you can find your way round the practicalities.

Amie you sound very serene, happy shopping. great news that Joe is back to his birth weight.

DollyPopsOut · 22/02/2007 11:46

Hello everyone!

Amie - I am so thrilled for you! Many congratulations to you all. Hope you are feeling OK now and your BP is now under control. And Flannelette PJs - oh my god! What an eventful time you have had! Hope you are recovering well from the CS.

I can't believe we are actually having babies now (don't know what I thought would happen at the end of the thread but never mind!) You do realise that every time someone goes AWOL for a day, we are all going to be speculating .

Kitty - sorry you have been ill. Hats off for the cake making though. Hope you are feeling ok now.

Sazzy - rest well and keep remembering the end is in sight. THe last few weeks are a total pain in the bum but the rewards will be worth it.

Piffle - sorry you are poorly again. Hope you are inhaling lots of menthol steam for the sinuses. I find camomile tea helps when I have a sore eye. You have really had the works in this pg haven't you my love - take it easy.

Glad you have your mortgage sorted out Foxy - and hope you enjoyed your trip to the farm.

Booboo - hope all is in place now for a lovely homebirth. Am very excited for you.

Hello to everyone else and thanks again for all the kind words about my dad. No change again today but no worse.

By the way, my friend who had her baby 4 weeks early last week is now home, baby feeding beautifully and all is well . And 2 other friends had a baby girl at the start of the week. There are babies everywhere and am now starting to feel a bit excited.

Love to all XXXXX

DollyPopsOut · 22/02/2007 11:47

Sorry, meant to say HUGE congratulations to Flannelette PJs as well

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 11:49

Moss I think you are going to have to get your belly out

Well I'm having a car saga....
Dh took the rover to the airport which is the one I've been starting every morning from the rust bucket peugeot. He left me the sharan banger but now it won't start and the jump leads are in Dublin airport carpark...so my sis got me some new jumpleads but then I couldn't find the key to the rusty peugeot though door is open...so my dad arrived and we towed the peugeot out so he could drive in beside the sharan but then the peugeot steering locked and it was stuck at a weird angle on the road so we got a guy with a forklift truck working here to come and forklift the peugeot out the way. Now I can't open the bonnet of the sharan and AA are on their way

kiwibella · 22/02/2007 12:00

congratulations Amie and fpj's!! Although things didn't go to plan, it's great to hear how happy you are at being new mums and that both babes are doing well.

I've only had a quick read through the thread today. Arsey workmates Moss!! Not long now (doesn't help, I bet ). Dd has a tummy bug and been projectiling through the night. The funniest thing is her Papa just can't do vomit and I end up pmsl at his reactions. The best thing is having her home and making me rest cause all I want to do it cuddle her up and make it all better. Ah, bless.

I'll check back for more baby updates later in the day . Who will be next??? Hope it's good news.

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 12:16

What a lovely AA man. The battery is too small for that size of car, so I have to go and buy a bigger battery. We are such tramps with all these clapped out bangers held together with string and pieces of wood.

Booboobedoo · 22/02/2007 12:39

Congratulations Amie! And flannelettepjs!

I'm sorry you both had a less-than-ideal birth, but I hope you're both enjoying your tiny-teeny babies.

We should do a list update. Maybe I'll do it after a kip.

Well, the carpet's been fitted in the nursery, the birthing pool's been delivered and the midwife's coming this afternoon. It finally feels like we're getting somewhere.

Maybe I've had a show as well then! I'm certainly feeling strange. I always (erronously) assumed I'd go 2 weeks over. Who knows, eh? I'll race you, foxy.

Good luck fixing your wood-and-string car Rosy - PMSL.

Mossy: I keep finding myself fighting my pregnant corner. I was negotiating with the carpet-fitters this morning, and apologised for being snappy, explaining that I was stressed. he said 'you're stressed?' implying his life was oh-so-hard. I said 'yes, I'm due to give birth in just over a week. I win!'. I'm so tetchy.

Dolly: I'm excited too! Really hope you're able to relax a bit with everything that's going on.

Kitty and Piffle: hpoe you feel better soon. It's not a nice time to be poorly.

Lunar - your company's a bit draconian with their maternity leave, aren't they? Or have you chosen to work to EDD?

Muppet: I lie awake worrying at stupid o'clock too. I expect I'll be worse once baby's born. 'Is he breathing? Do you think he's died?' etc.

Sazzy: so glad your baby has turned!

Hi everyone else. x

LaidbackinEngland · 22/02/2007 12:58

Congratulations Flanelette PJ's - hope your baby is home with you soon..... sounds like you are doing a fab job !

Anyone heard from Leo yet ?

divastropwantstodrop · 22/02/2007 12:59

congratulations to fp and amie

wow,real babies!

moss-i thnk you should just strip down to your knickers, that'll shut them up

my bp was fine this morning, despite me not taking any tablets since tuesday.i'm wondering if this time i will go into labour.

i read somewhere on here that a show can come out a bit at a time?the only time ive had one was with dd2,and it was like white jelly with a bit of dry blood in it(sorry way tmi).the mw said she'd never seen one like it before

hope everybody else is ok...maybe more babies will start appearing now.

37+1

LaidbackinEngland · 22/02/2007 13:01

Rosy - if you go into labour - how are you going to get to hospital ? Maybe the AA could be on permanent standby ?

Foxy - I was talking to a friend in London who is due the same day as me. She has decided that if she does into labour during rush hour, she is calling an ambulance to get her to hospital ! She lives about 5 miles from the hospital - BUT it can take up to 1 hr 15 mins in rush hour traffic - wouldn't be so bad but she laboured very quickly before.

LunarSea · 22/02/2007 13:09

booboo - it's because they STILL haven't got round to getting anyone in to cover for me! We're finally interviewing next week - so that really leaves a lot of time for training as I'm NOT travelling anywhere more than half an hour from home after that, and replacement will be based at an office an hour away....

muppetisacat · 22/02/2007 13:27

Yes, Rosy... how far are you from hospital? My mum knows someone who's car wouldn't work when she went into labour - they got a friend to drive them in his taxi and had to pull over on side of road as she pushed baby out in pub car park! (Not suggusting that's going to happen to you!!!)

Mossy... why even leave your knickers on? Go on... go for the full monty...

Flannelette - Jessica is my dd's name - although we usually shorten it to Jess. I love it - she is named after the local bar maid!!

Piffle, when you've had some extra vitamins, can I suggest a big bar of chocolate. I've just had one and it's done wonders for my various aches and pains! I'm pretty sure it'll cure your stye and pulled muscle

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 22/02/2007 13:55

Rosy, it sounds like an absolute nightmare with the cars, don't know hoe you manage. If you get a new battery will it start properly?

Kiwi, hope your dd gets better soon

Dolly I'm glad your dad is at least managing to keep stable. Fingers crossed that he starts to show improvement soon x

Piffle you poor thing, you do sound very run down. Is there a chance you can rest up a bit more? Are you making sure you're eating well. How's the groin/pwlvic pain now?

Boo, sounds liek it could be a show, I've never had one that I've seen so I wouldn't know

Mossy, keep on getting tetchy, not long to go now!!

My midwife/ supervisor/doula meeting went very well. I felt that we were all working towards the homebirth.
My friend who is a week overdue has gone into labour this morning, so hopefully I'll get some news by school pick up time.

Booboobedoo · 22/02/2007 14:24

Good luck to your friend kitty!

Diva: my friend said her show seemed to come out over several days, so maybe.

Lunar: I was in a similar situation for a while, except it was all my fault as I'm the boss. I was jealous of people who were PAYE and who's cover got sorted for them, but it sounds like lots of people have a hard time with that too. I might have it wrong, but I seem to recall you wok for a family business. Have I got you mixed up with someone else?

I suppose at least you won't be sitting around at home frustrated. What'll they do if you pop early?

So excited that 'we've' already had some babies. It's really, truly happening.

Piffle · 22/02/2007 14:25

flannel pjs totally missed your post
Congrats on the arrival (however frightening) of your lovely little girl - I think girls are a rarity on this thread!
Well we did mention yesterday about nobody popping yet and here we are inundated all of a sudden!
good luck to these little ones born early xxxxxxxxxxxx

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 22/02/2007 14:41

Check this out ladies, I've ordered one, no idea if it'll arrive though! here

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 14:46

Leo could well come on with news anytime too!

Kitty, delighted to hear it went well today, that's very positive.

Got the car sorted, found it very stressful dealing with all those burly men today, I usually exist in a sheltered fluffy world. The handbrake doesn't work and it squeaks really loudly when I turn but at least it goes now

If I go into labour early I'll just ring my sister, t'will be fine I'm not far from hospital either. I've to go there next tuesday. I think my midwife said they offer sweeps from 38 weeks...might be tempted though last time anyone tried that they couldn't reach
