OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
eidsvold · 21/02/2007 21:28

muppet singapore is the only one we fly now between uk and Aus ( or vice versa) brilliant.

We had a stop over in Singapore when we emigrated which was Jun time. Had 5 days and it was fab - just another option to staying in Aus.

Internal break - go to Cairns - beach and rainforest in one and great areas to explore as well as relax. Although you would probably even find the gold or sunshine coast okay just south and north of Brisbane ( where I am!)

Yup - fed up with waiting - except for last minute things in hospital bag - am all ready here

4 weeks tomorrow - eidsvold junior no3 will be here.

foxabout2pop · 21/02/2007 21:49

Boobuddy - are you still due 3 March then? You and I will have to race each other for who gets their baby out first!

I've got straightish hair (slight annoying wave) shoulder length and strawberry blonde (not "ginger" LOL)

Where do you live Chocolate?

Eids - must be so nice to have a defo date for delivery

anyone else getting in a bit of a panic about their emergency plans?

I certainly am - have visions of no back up and me ending up in the back of an ambulance, with DC's, being whizzed to the nearest hospital (i.e. the wrong hospital!). The labour/birth bit doesn't phaze me at all LOL!

AmieR · 21/02/2007 21:52

Hello all!!!

Well last thursday was very eventful to say the least! I am now the proud mother of a smashing little chap, Joseph Samuel.

Had scan, "Little Pele" had not grown one iota in the two weeks according to the scan.. so on hearing this news my blood pressure decided to soar! at one point the bottom number was 118! so was told I was to be induced, next thing I know i'm being surrounded by people being prepared for my emergency C section!

so.. at 11 having scan, 15:15 Joseph was born to the world at 5lbs 1oz!

He went in to the special care unit where he's been trying to maintain his blood sugar levels but he's all ok now apart from being a little small! and now we're home! tho not without its events as my BP decided to misbehave again today!

what a week?!?!

foxabout2pop · 21/02/2007 21:55

OMG Amie - congratulations!!!!

Our second Mum to give birth!!!

Is he OK now or doe she still need any special care at home?

You must be bowled over!! - lovely name BTW

AmieR · 21/02/2007 21:58

Thanks Fox!

He's all OK, just needs feeding up to get his strength up. Which is tiring! Breast and express with formula tops ups!

TheBlonde · 21/02/2007 21:58

Wow Amie!! Many congrats

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 21/02/2007 22:21

Oh, well done Amie!!!! We were worried about you but thought something must have happened. I'm so glad you are both fine, do post a photo when you get the chnace {{{hugs}}}}

Foxy, the children and me have what I can only describe as a bug that makes you very tired and extraordinarily bad tempered!!!!.
Made cakes with them after school today (because I am a good mother and that is true ) and there were terrible fisticuffs. Ds1, normally the most mild and affable child was hurling objects at people and screaming like an animal . Thankfully it seems short lived.

Everyone seems to be getting ready now eh? Not me, not yet.

morocco · 21/02/2007 22:51

congratulations !!!!!

I'm glad you and Joseph are doing well, sounds a sudden delivery!

love the names btw (ds1's middle name and sam is what i would have loved if this had been ds3)

sorry if tmi before - it was a bit of a 'surprise' tbh. I googled a show, and it doesn't sound the same cos no red bits etc, but still nt what you want to find down below

LaidbackinEngland · 21/02/2007 23:04

Congratulations Amie - 2 boys for the March thread and many more to come and a few wonderful girls too !!

I think things are hotting up now - still no news from Leo - I think maybe we will hear from her soon....

Have just eaten a yummy apple crumble . I like to stuff my face for the last couple of weeks.

Rosy - I had a crying episode last night with DH - because I had handed him the home birth stuff to read for the second time and it was still lying casually on the floor next to his bed. Asked him if he knew who to phone when I go into labour ....didn't have a clue ...

Anyway all sorted now.

LunarSea · 21/02/2007 23:11

Congratulations Amie - we guessed something must have happened when you suddenly disappeared.

Once you're up to getting out and about with him we'll have to meet up somewhere (I've only got another week of full time, and then should be able to get out for a few hours each day).

flannelettepyjamas · 22/02/2007 02:37

Hi everyone, it's been aaaaages since I posted, you've probably all completely forgotten me by now. I've been having trouble finding the time to post and haven't even been on mumsnet for some weeks. Anyway, my news is that my LO came early at 33 weeks ( 11 days ago) as she wasn't growing properly and I was found to have pre-eclampsia on one of my routine visits for a check up ( BP 230/120!!), so it was off for a CS there and then ( no clean knickers, no toothbrush, DH in the USA, toddler feeding the ducks with her aunt). I had a little girl at 2lb9oz, 1.16kgs. She's doing really well in special care and just needs to put on some serious weight before she can come home. So I've joined Callie on the expressing treadmill!
It's all been an emotional rollercoaster but everything is going in the right direction now and it will all be worth it when we get to take her home with us in about 5 weeks' time.
Anyway, I really hope you all are doing well and wish everyone the best of luck with all their LO's coming soon. XX
PS Eids, I'd still be up for a meetup some time when everything has settled down for us all.

eidsvold · 22/02/2007 03:49

flanno pjs - I wondered where you were and what was happening. Sorry to hear your hassles but pleased to hear all is well.

Name??

so that is two boys and a girl so far on this thread.

Which hospital is your dd2 in??

Hope you and Amie are both recovering from your c-sections. Remember - tea tree oil - few drops in warm water for bathing that scar - really helps it heal nicely.

Do you need anything FP?? Is dh back now??

Seems like I will be bringing my new one home about the time you bring your little one home fp. Due for c-section 4 weeks tomorrow and then home 5 days later.

Take care both of you.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 06:44

Oh Amie congratulations that's wonderful news, glad you and little Joseph are back home. (Love the name btw - I would of course, it's dh's middle name!!)

Flanelette Pj's congrats as well!

Kitty hope your dc's feel better soon.

Morocco, I don't know what that could be, like you say I thought a show had blood in it? Have you asked your mw?

Foxy my dh says his hair is "strawberry blond" and not ginger. (Actually in that photo it does look strawberry blond.) So I have a soft spot for that colour hair obviously!

Booboo that is a bit spooky! Although having said that I pictured you as having pre-Raphaelite style flowing hair, so no spooky vibes here.

Diva are you sure you're not nesting? Hope your appointment goes okay today.

Sazzybee nice to hear from you again obviously we all thought you were in labour! Glad your lo has turned.

Dolly not long to go now. Hope you are okay in yourself. Sorry things are so hard for you atm.

I went to the Liverpool Women's on the tour last night and I was deffo the most pg woman there. Everyone else had these neat little bumps and I was wandering around like a hippo!

The hospital bit was okay but very "medical" (I mean, obvy it is, it's a hosi, but ykwim) but the birthing centre was lovely. They have a pool but only one, so you can't guarantee it will be available on the day. But they too have a disco ball Foxy! And loads of those gym balls, and cushions, and a rocking chair, and you get your own room.....

Only trouble is if you go more than ten days, they induce you, and then you have to go in the hosi bit. So come the end of March it'll be twiddling, "saveloying", pinapples and hot curries all the way!!!

sazzybee · 22/02/2007 07:04

Wow - babies!

Congratulations Amie and flannelpjs! Want pictures Amie - that's a lovely name too.

Sorry about my cryptic post last night - think I was too tired to try to communicate and it came across as much more melodramatic than it actually was. I went in to see the consultant about having the baby manually turned but the scan showed he had done it all by himself. I feel very proud that he managed it with all that fluid swishing about and also that I thought I'd felt him move and I was right. After that it all went a bit downhill - loads of protein in my urine and high BP. So they sent my results off overnight and told me to go and pick them up the next day from the hospital (rather than the antenatal clinic). I thought that meant popping in, getting the results, having my BP checked and leaving again. But I was there for hours and hours, hooked up to a BP monitor and having more urine tests. Anyway - my protein levels finally dropped right down and BP too so they eventually sent me home.
I've got to go back on Monday but have a few days respite thankfully. I think I was just a bit shocked and I can't believe there is some other potential problem. I haven't seen a MW since I was 26 weeks, just consultants and I'd like them to leave me alone for a bit. But it's good that they're taking such good care so I shouldn't moan really.
kitty - saw a friend yesterday and she and her DD have both got that 'cross' virus - they were in absolutely foul moods!
dolly - so sorry to hear about your dad. How worrying for you
bethoo - you're going to meet your baby on Monday - how fantastic! I don't feel ready either but I've decided I'm never going to so I guess just go with the flow.
diva - if you'd been at my hospital, they'd have induced you by now. They said to me when they finally let me go home on Tuesday that if I felt at all faint or dizzy, I would be taken in and probably induced immediately. I'm not sure what's worse really.
morocco - I'm sure there was a thread recently in childbirth about blood free shows so don't dismiss it out of hand I reckon.
I'm glad (in a misery loves company sort of way) that everyone else is a bit miserable and fed up too. I thought I was being a real wuss so it's nice to know that we're all feeling it. I just want this to be over now.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 22/02/2007 07:24

Many congrats FP

Sazzy, I'm so glad you said that about the cross bug, I know I've been calling it that but I couldn't quite believe you could have a bug that made you crabby!!!! They are still fighting this mornign and it's driving me nuts .

I shall try and post a bit more today. Sometimes I feel a bit lost with all the posts and don't know where to start.

I have a doula visit this morning and the midwife and her supervisor are coming to..... I don't know... waste some more nhs money????

I am needing to sleep loads atm, anyone else?
I can safely say that being heavily preg with 5 little kids to look after is not much fun. It seems so much harder than last time I don't know why, ah well.

36+1 (boy)

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 07:52

Oh WOW!!! Congratulations Amie and Flannelpjs!

Sazzybee, so glad baby turned and you are ok.

Morocco I bet that was the start of your show! You don't usually have anything like that, you'll probably get more! I think it can happen a while before labour kicks off but things are happening

Laidback I'm stuffing my face these days too...constantly hungry and really want to just lie around, sleep, eat and do nothing else...baby wants to get fat!

Dhs mum is ok so far, dh, his sis and nephew have been sleeping on the floor in the hospital! They are going home today.

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 07:56

Diva, it took a while to suss out dh and they are all different these men! Mine quite likes to be captain caveman, so that is helpfull sometimes

foxabout2pop · 22/02/2007 08:45

Flannelette - ooh your post made me cry - it must have been very traumatic and sudden for you, you poor thing!! But you have a beautiful baby girl now! Congratulations!!

Our third baby!!!

Kitty - that sounds like the symptoms I've had for the past 38 weeks - maybe I've got a bug too !!

Mossy - oooh a disco ball - you've chosen the correct venue then?

I'll be most dissappointed if I have to have a clinical birth and miss out on the disco ball!

Rosy - glad your DH's Mum is OK - do you get to see her much at all?

Sazzy - just a couple more weeks to go eh?

foxabout2pop · 22/02/2007 08:55

I have my last big outing today; a mumsnetter is coming here at 10am to drive us all to Bocketts Farm with a small gang from our local thread. The kids are really excited.

Ok, so am I

I woke at 1.45am this morning worrying about my Dad's laissez fair attitude to his forthcoming responsibilities on the "big day" (him: "oh yeah, I'll try and get there - anyway, you've got neighbours who can help haven't you?").

Anyway I made a cheese sandwich and 1/2 a glass of wine and turned on the TV and there was a funny prog called "The Madness of Modern Parenting" - about what parents will do to get their DCs into a good state school.

One Dad suggested that school league tables should include information like:

How many children go skiiing each year etc

There was a section on parents constantly trying to push their kids into the top "stream" in their class..

It was very funny!

Anyway my Stepmum has promised to keep my Dad on a short leash next week so he available!!

muppetisacat · 22/02/2007 09:19

Foxy was that programme a piss take?? You cannot be serious!!! I like the sound of your midnight feasts by the way - are you a white wine girl or a red wine girl?

Morocco i agree with Rosy - could be a show - my last one didn't have blood in it. Even if it isn't - the sign of increased discharge (sorry tmi) is another indicator that you are only days away!

Sazzy at pre-eclamp now!! You must feel like you're working your way through an encyclopaedia of pre-natal conditions. At least your lo has turned! I'll discover tomorrow if my suspicions are correct that this one has too. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Dolly for you that you have to contend with a poorly dad at this time. Hope things improve.

Diva good luck with your antenatal today.

Boo being moody is also another good sign i've decided. Another indicator that our hormones are tipping the scale in preparation for the big day.

eids great advice - thing singapore is the one to fly with - and will investigate beachy style hols up near Cairns.

Aime and flanelette WOW congrats to you both. Infact - you both sound like you had similar build ups. Hopefully it wont be long flanelette b4 you can bring your babe home like Aime has. Enjoy them both!!!

Kitty very impressed you have the energy to be making cakes at this stage. You haven't got any left have you....

Mossy glad you liked your birthing centre - I'm sure everyone else was looking at your bump and thinking it was neat. We all think our own ones are huge!

Sorry if missed anyone out. Can't believe we have babies appearing. I'm off for a crafty nap now - having been up to 4.30 the past couple of nights... just can't help lying awake worrying... everything is so much worse at night isn't it?

37+6 (boy)

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 09:23

Fox have a great day!
I only see mil when I have gone to Pakistan...She gave me a hard time last time, always telling me off- luckily don't understand her language, also I think it's a compliment because she yaps at all her family

Piffle · 22/02/2007 09:32

Amie so glad Joseph is ok and I hope your BP sorts itself out, although taking care of a newborn is hardly taking it easy
Good luck he sounds like a perfect wee dot!

I second Eids for Singapore, both the airline and stop over whether it be for overnight or refuelling stop. Fabulous place. Great airline, they were super with my ds when he was a toddler.
Dolly I hope you start to hear of some progress after your Dad's heart attack, it can take a little time to improve the older you are, like you say at leats he is not getting worse and hopefully the weekend will see him start the road to recovery - must be very worrying time for you xx

I'm seriously run down I think
I have a stye in my eye, have had sinusitis for 10 days and at 6am today my lower lip swelled with a boil type thing which was agony. I also have a neck pain which only happens when I lie down ARGHH oh and I've pulled my bicep and can barely lift my right arm
Aside from that I'm bloody grand!

I feel 10 yrs older though and look frightful
Off to ingest vitamins and superfoods in a bid to reclaim my former self.

Only 4 wks (hopefully less) to go!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 22/02/2007 09:33

Muppet, I haven't got any left that is why I am the great misery of the sussex coast atm !

Foxy, I saw that prog a few weeks ago. These people are completely barking aren't they?

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 09:48

I want to start a thread similar to Booboo's, "is it normal to want to kill your colleagues late in pregnancy?" Everyone is doing my head in today. Whereas I am sitting here humming the lyrics to Lionel Ritchie's "hello" in my head and giggling!

Kitty hope your doula visit goes okay and they don't try again to talk you out of your home birth. Ridiculous! I mean ffs you've even been on telly having a home birth it's not like they're about to change your mind now is it!!?

Foxy that programme sounds funny!

Piffle sorry you're having a crappy time

Right I've finally had enough. I'm really hot. I'm wearing a short sleeved top. I have taken my boots and socks off. All the windows are closed so I have put one fan on.

One of my colleagues has just said "god it's freezing in here with that fan on!"

So I said, "well, at least you can put more clothes on if you're cold. I can't really take any off unless you want me to strip which atm I don't think you do, do you." (Rhetorical question).

Her reply? "Well, some women love to flaunt their pregnant belly!"

(Wtf?)

"Well I don't think you want me to somehow. It is covered in bright red stretch marks."

Her? "Euww that's horrible!"

ARRRRRGH!!!!!

Sorry sorry sorry, I probably should post this in "Am I being unreasonable?" but couldn't bear the thought that people might say "yes you are!"
