Hi All,

I wanted to apologise for my 'yipee, I have a scan' post yesterday. I hadn't properly read the posts prior to it and I'm sorry if it appeared rather insensitive fio. Not intended at all.

If you have opted out of the nuchal then 15 weeks maybe isn't that bad. I am having a nuchal and I will be 13+2 when I am seen next friday, which I think is quite late if there is a problem, as window is only 13+5.

Anyway, sorry to hear you are still having problems - maybe you should just walk into Ultrasound? When I was in there last, a woman did just that and she was referred for a walk in visit to the EPU. Might be worth a try?

I watched the Miracles in the Womb programme last night too and was getting all mushy til my sister sent me a text saying 'Yuk they all look like aliens'. And then they did so I had to turn it off. But before that was very excited about Elvis (name of bump) having fingers and a spine and stuff.

glad your mind has been put to rest fio. oh and thanks for answering my golden pig thread. I did google but it seemed to be a fortune teller thing more than an official new year fact. I don't take it seriously but its nice to think that our children might be lucky...

EllieG · 16/02/2007 14:28

I'm really panicing today about work and money. I don't think I can afford a baby and I will have to live in poverty or work all the hours that God sends and then my child will grow up with an attachment disorder and develop ADHD and call it's childminder Mummy. And my work don't do flexi-time and they say is unlikely I can go part-time. Oh dear.

emalushka · 18/02/2007 10:34

Hello!

I'm also due 15th September with first, age 27. Was a complete shock and took a couple of weeks to get used to the idea..... but now both myself and DP are VERY excited. Don't worry about work and money. I did for a few weeks and wasted too much time. I managed to conceive unexpectedly 3 weeks into a new job. My boss will be pleased when I tell him! I'm going to try and hide it for as long as possible. Not sure if I'm entitled to mat pay, but will def have to scrimp and save for a bit. At least breast feeding is cheap!
Friends of mine have offered lots of second hand, but in good condition baby things and have been looking in Tesco at 'stuff' and baby things seem to be quite reasonable. Ebay is also good. Sorry if i'm sounding patronising, but I must be going through a whimsical phase. I love being pregnant and am really looking forward to it all. As long as a baby is loved and cared for....what else does it need? As for scans...I'm not having one til 20 weeks...anyone else like this?

Flossam · 18/02/2007 10:39

Ellie when I first was pregnant with DS both DP and I really were worried that we couldn't afford him. Given I am lucky in my job that I can work any kind of hours as and when best suit within reason, but I think you kind of learn to exist on what you have IYSWIM. I'm not sure what field you are in but is there a good reason why you wouldn't be able to do flexi/part time? As I think employers have a responsibility to at least try and fit in around your needs as long as it is not to the cost of your department.

I'm doing ok. Not such a good day yesterday, and slept badly last night. DP is in a bit of trouble, he is expecting a computer to arrive on tuesday which he won after putting in a 'silly bid'. He had his car stereo nicked on weds, which really was his own fault (a PC who dosen't bother to remove the face of his face off stereo!) and has rushed out to replace it. He's expecting a load of overtime money this month, and is off to Barcelona for a stag weekend. The money was supposed to be for that, and if anything left, for a hundred and one things needed around the house etc. At this rate he's going to come back with nothing. So I've been stewing in bed about it all, really. I'm sick of him and his awful spending habits.

I'm hoping to get into town before work to get some new bras as mine are now deffo too small! My friend has leant me a few maternity bits and I have brought a few pieces now. I am quite big already I think and am getting lots of shocked comments! One of my uniforms is incredibly tight now!

I have my midwifes appointment next week. I won't be getting any scans till around 20 weeks. I don't mind so much now, I'm lucky that I had the scan where I saw the heart beat. So I shall just have to wait patiently for the time being. I hope everyone else is getting along ok and TeeCee, your cold is better?

pendulum · 18/02/2007 11:10

Hello everyone,
I posted on the first September thread ages ago and not since... just to introduce myself, I am 9+4 with no 2, DD is 2.9 yrs.

I just wanted to ask if anyone else is having intermittent stomach pains- not cramps but just sore & tender all over with occasional shooting pains. Could be stretching pains I guess but don't remember this from last time and isn't it a bit early for stretching? (Like Fio I am kinda worried about the twins thing!)

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday,

pendulum xx

emalushka · 18/02/2007 11:11

Hehe.... big bazookas.... it's definately a novelty, usually being an A cup. My bras are also feeling tight, so have been wearing vests instead. Not sure if to buy new underwear as what if my boobs just carrying on growing? Will I have to buy new underwear every month?

Flossam · 18/02/2007 11:48

IIRC I only brought one lot of bras last time, suspect there might be two lots this time. Towards the end you can buy nursing bras, as they will come in useful, if not immediately after the birth (when your boobs will become bigger than you have ever dreamed of!) then in the weeks following when everything has calmed down a bit! Don't splash out, just buy comfy, cheap but practical. M and S do reasonably priced ones.

emalushka · 18/02/2007 12:28

Thanks for that Flossam. I think i'm going to leave it a couple more weeks before splashing out on new underwear.

As for shooting pains - I just had these for one day and was seriously worried at first - on Valentine's Day. My DP had cooked a lovely meal and was trying his best to be romantic and I just wasn't in the mood at all. The pains were kind of shooting every half hour and then I had a continuous aching feeling. They lasted a day and then stopped. I did just put it down to growing pains or stretching pains. I'm no medic, but I suppose there's a lot going on in there and it is bound to have an effect on you somehow. Ring your midwife if you are really worried.

sophus · 18/02/2007 12:28

hi all. Partner and me have just come down with horrible fluey colds. He has a job interview tomorrow, i'm still puking like it was all i was put on this earth to do, am fat, spotty, smelly and feel like a moan. Our house is such a cheery place to be right now! Told my mother last night that i was worried about not being able to eat healthily enough for the baby due to the MS -her advice was "just eat chocolate - it'll cheer you up". I love my mum.
But scan in one week - can't wait (with fingers crossed).
Hope others are avoiding the lurgie.
x

pendulum · 18/02/2007 12:46

thanks emalushka, it's reassuring to know it's not just me. Will wait and see how things are tomorrow.

in response to your underwear question, I just bought a couple of £7 bras from M&S- had gone up one back size and one cup size already. Don't know how long they will last but feel so much more comfortable- and are not underwired like the rest of my collection (as you prob know the advice is to stop wearing underwires once pg is established cos they could interfere with milk duct production)

Nettee · 19/02/2007 07:47

Sophus you sound a bit like me. All three of us have colds at the moment, I am puking all the time, DH is lonely as I go to bed at about 6.30 every night and DS is resorting to biting me to get any attention. Your Mum sounds great. Mine is coming round this morning to look after DS while I get some useful things done.

Sounds like stretching pains some of you are having. I remember getting them in my first pregnancy and worrying about them. Haven't had any yet this time though.

hi

First of all, I was FiT, have gone back to old name after a 'RL recognising incident' (hence a couple of recent thread disappearing - family ishoos).

Am now joining you properly with many trembly deep breaths. Had scan on Thurs, 9 1/2 weeks, baby fine, due date 17.9.07! Have now started to worry seriously about cervical incompetence after the two D&Cs I had for the mcs last year (within 2 months), particularly as for the last one I hadn't actually started mc the blighted ovum and they didn't use any drugs to help it dilate. I know it's ludicrous to have a stitch on the offchance, but I am going to see if I can get regular cervical length scans - am going back to doc next week.

Sympathy to all with colds, and at all of you with expanding cleavages - not even bf has encouraged mine to increase beyond a teeny tiny amount. I don't actually have to wear a bra, so minuscule are they...

laksa · 19/02/2007 13:11

afternoon guys,

well, guess I am just one many snottinfested, acne-ridden puking ladies at the moment...where is the pregnancy glow my dad goes on about my mum having had throughout all her pregnancies My dh is more likely to be relating tales of the exorcist to our children when they are old enough

Fio fio, I am also having the best erotic dreams imaginable, every morning my dh listens entranced while I relate my latest twilight sexploits...its the one area of pregnancy he is really enjoying

Has anyone gone off all things healthy? I had been quite good until about 3 weeks ago, getting in my 5 fruit/veg a day. But ever since the sickness began I can only keep junk food down. I had a craving for a chicken royal with cheese last night...and couldn't eat anything else. I am starting to get worried that the beanie is going to come out demanding a whopper with cheese. Am I depriving him/her of nutrients?? Help. Also I am going to end up the size of a house and I am only 5ft 2

Hope everyone is feeling more positive than me. I am in a muddy hole at the bottom of the garden rolling around eating worms and scowling at everyone who tells me 'at least you'll have a lovely baby at the end of it' I don't want to cheer up and am being a real grump. Roll on the 2nd trimester.

xx

jess1996 · 19/02/2007 18:13

My worst fears came true. Went for a private scan on Saturday and found my twins had not developed since my last scan and no heartbeats. I'm going into hospital tomorrow to have a miscarriage induced. Please could someone remove me from the list. I am devastated.

Anyone else just finding this whole thing really dragging? Am now 9+6, not having scan for 3 weeks and it's really weird not showing, and having no idea if everything is OK or not... I'm assuming that the fact that I constantly feel sick and exhausted is a good thing but it seems like a long time to wait to see if everything is progressing normally. Anyway, sorry to moan. At least am still on our list for now (hello to Nettee and JoniMitchell who are due on the same day as me...xx)

HammerHeadShark · 19/02/2007 20:36

Oh Jess, I am so, so sorry, its not fair . Take good care xxxxx

emalushka · 19/02/2007 21:41

Many heartfelt feelings to Jess1996. I'm so sorry. Life just doesn't seem fair sometimes. x
