Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 48th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 47th grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 61st outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread <a class="break-all" href="//onwww.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/2588689-we-re-still-teething-trying-to-wean-and-our-babies-just-won-t-go-to-sleep-when-we-re-trying-to-js-for-another-one-it-s-just-mumming-no-11" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

Not that this thread is very active, but I'm out. Scan today, no heartbeat and baby stopped growing a week ago. Surgical management on Saturday.
Don't know if I'll be back because I'm really not sure I can do this again after 2 mc with 9 months of heartache from trying in between

corgi88 · 22/02/2017 13:17

Oh zyla I'm so sorry Sad the heartache is horrible and it just feels so unfair. Here for you as much as you need us FlowersWine

SockQueen · 22/02/2017 18:26

So sorry Zyla Flowers

NameChange30 · 24/02/2017 09:16

Zyla I'm so very sorry for your loss Flowers

corgi88 · 25/02/2017 09:30

Hello viroids! Just wondering if any of you went for nct classes and if they were any good? Thinking I might just book my local hospital's antenatal classes which are free....
Name how are you doing? And chat? Scottish have you had dating scan yet?
I am being kicked in the cervix currently. Does anyone else find this slightly alarming? Stupid baby, stop trying to kick the door down! Confused

NameChange30 · 25/02/2017 09:38

Hi corgi!

I hesitated between NCT and a hypnobirthing course, which covered general antenatal class content as well as hypnobirthing. I went for the hypnobirthing class in the end and I'm glad I did, it was very balanced (the course leader was all about informed decision and not pushing us one way or the other) and I'm hoping the hypnobirthing approach will be helpful.

There is an NCT Essentials course which is slightly shorter and cheaper than the Signature course. I probably would have done that if there had been one available near me.

However I also have friends who just did the NHS classes and said they were enough.

People do say that NCT is most useful for making parent friends, so maybe it depends how important that is to you?

NameChange30 · 25/02/2017 09:39

Oh and baby was pressing/kicking on my cervix a lot over the last few weeks, thankfully that seems to have worn off now as it was very uncomfortable!

I'm 39+5 and hoping I won't have too much longer to wait. Very much looking forward to meeting baby now! Smile

ScottishLady7 · 25/02/2017 11:58

I'm wondering about NCT too! My hospital antenatal classes are on a wed am- not great when I work an hour away- so I'm not sure what to do!
Thanks for asking corgi we had our scan last week and saw the wee thing waving and jumping around- so lovely to see!
How are you doing? How many weeks are you now?
name you must be about term now? How are you feeling?

ScottishLady7 · 25/02/2017 11:58

Sorry name - just noticed you said 39+5!
Hope you've not got too much longer to wait!!

ChatEnOeuf · 25/02/2017 15:30

We did NCT both times - not for the information, though I think DH learnt a couple of things. I just like having the convenience of knowing people with similar aged babies. Our group already has a couple of babies born, whereas, with DD, we were one of the first! The course content depends a lot on the teacher and the group - at the start we were asked about things we particularly wanted to cover.

I've never done hospital classes - with DD they weren't running over the school holidays, and she'd arrived by the time they were starting afterwards.

I'm muddling through, thanks, Corgi. 33w now, baby looking healthy (which totally should be reassuring....). Bottom wedged under my ribs, arms grappling with my bladder - it's all good :)

SockQueen · 25/02/2017 16:40

We did NCT Essentials as there were no spaces left on the Signature one. Did it mostly to make friends, and we still meet up every couple of weeks. I didn't learn much that I didn't already know, but I think it was useful for DH. The hospital classes were only two evenings, crammed in a lot of information to the extent I think a lot of topics weren't covered adequately, and had a huge group (about 15 couples) so not much chance for socialising.

I read the Maggie Howells hypnobirthing book, and found some of it a bit woo, though I didn't buy a CD/go on a course which could well have been more helpful. I found the breathing/visualisation, which I'd also done at yoga, quite useful

Good luck Name! gets pompoms ready

corgi88 · 25/02/2017 17:33

hmm, I'm torn.... supposedly the classes at my hospital are quite good and my friend has said that most people know their parent friends from there. I think I will book onto them for now and think about NCT. They seem to have a good couples breastfeeding one, and a lot of their classes are at weekends anyway. But scottish you are entitled to time off for antenatal classes so just use it as an excuse for a cheeky morning off! so glad your scan was good! wheee!
chat glad you are doing OK. not long now til you have a lovely baby in your arms!
I am 22+1 now! feeling movements every day though not regularly yet. Still plenty of opportunity to panic when I don't feel them though.... next scan is at 28 weeks to check all is growing OK.
oooh sock I went to pregnancy yoga for the first time last week, was lovely! v. relaxing.

NameChange30 · 25/02/2017 19:52

Thanks for the pompoms lovelies! Hopefully you'll be able to shake them sooner rather than later!

Scottish and corgi glad your scans went well Smile

Chat 33 weeks, that's great! I think you must be next up after me...

I've been doing pregnancy yoga since 14 weeks and I can honestly say it's been a lifesaver. Physically and emotionally.

I'm feeling ok, not too impatient for now but I will probably get twitchy before too long! Just trying to relax and enjoy some quiet time with DH. Weekends are lovely but the week can get a bit boring so I'm just hoping baby decides to make an appearance at some point in the next week!

NameChange30 · 28/02/2017 11:44

Hi, how are you all?

Nothing to report here... I have a question about sweeps. Is there anyone who's had one and could tell me about the pros and cons? I'm thinking ahead slightly but the midwife said I'll be offered one at 41 weeks. It seems like it could be worth a try and nothing much to lose if it doesn't work, unless there's something I haven't thought of. I do want to avoid induction if I can but a sweep doesn't seem so bad.

SockQueen · 28/02/2017 12:00

I had two, at 39+6 and 41+2. Neither worked, but I didn't find them terribly unpleasant - a bit uncomfortable, and I bled a little after the first (I think that was my show) but it settled down within 24 hours.

Pros: You might go into labour - though I think its success rate is actually quite low.

Cons: Slightly increased risk of infection
Can be painful

You don't have to have it - see how you feel when you get to 41 weeks - I was heading towards pineapple and raspberry leaf tea at that point so gave it a try!

NameChange30 · 28/02/2017 15:50

Thanks Sock! Google tells me there's a 24% success rate, although that must vary depending on gestational age, cervical dilation, etc. I think you're right and I'll just have to see how I feel at 41 weeks - although I think I'll probably be willing to give it a go by that point, even with a chance of just 1 in 4!

ChatEnOeuf · 03/03/2017 11:45

How are you doing, Name? I've never needed a sweep, so can't comment on them really - hope if you had one, that it did the trick :)

I'm on mat leave now, still doesn't feel entirely real though!

NameChange30 · 03/03/2017 12:10

Chat
Congratulations on starting mat leave! Smile
Thanks for asking.. I'm struggling a bit, tired of waiting now. Glad it's Friday because I'll have more company and distraction over the weekend. No signs whatsoever (no contraction, no mucus, nothing) so I will definitely have the sweep at my 41 week appointment on Monday if nothing happens before then. Come on baby!!

NameChange30 · 07/03/2017 12:52

How is everyone?
Still no news here. Had a sweep yesterday which I found unpleasant Sad I've booked an acupuncture appointment for tomorrow morning (the soonest I could get) so we'll see if that helps!

corgi88 · 07/03/2017 13:17

I was just about to pop in and ask how you were name! Are you 41 weeks now? Gx something happens after acupuncture!
I'm good, the blob has been kicking a lot ...
Am after some advice/opinions ladies. Dh has returned from work trip to Indonesia (lucky sod) which is moderate risk for zika. WHO advice suggests we should be using condoms for duration of pregnancy because of the risk of sexual transmission... Anyone else had any experience of possible zika exposure? Seems so weird to be using condoms after all the js'ing to get pregnant Grin and they are a bit of a faff. I know the risk is low but I think I'm probably too paranoid so we most likely will carry on using them....

corgi88 · 07/03/2017 13:18

chat yay for mat leave! When did you finish? I can't decide when to go off - aiming for 36 weeks currently but that's just an arbitrary number...

SockQueen · 07/03/2017 18:01

Sorry the sweep wasn't nice, Name. Hope things get moving soon!

Yay for mat leave Chat! Must be nice to have some downtime.

corgi - if you're 2nd tri then the risks of microcephaly etc are presumably much smaller than if it was earlier. Not sure what I'd do in your situation. We actually went to Brazil while TTC, a few weeks before the Zika news broke, and initially the advice wasn't to stop TTC if you'd already come back, so we'd carried on and DS, conceived about 3 months later, is fine (but anecdote =/= data!). As for mat leave, I went off at 37 weeks, but had stopped on-calls a couple of weeks before.

ChatEnOeuf · 07/03/2017 20:47

I know not of this shagging in pregnancy lark - too paranoid about bleeding/uncomfortable/nausea/having BH to contemplate it!

I finished at the end of last week - though I've had a bit of admin stuff to finish, which has had me in the office the last two days. Nice to have the time and peace to get it done, rather than knowing how busy the unit is and feeling guilty.

Hope the sweep was worth the discomfort, Name, and does it's job. Not too long to go now!

NameChange30 · 07/03/2017 21:43

"I know not of this shagging in pregnancy lark" - bahahahaha, me neither! I've had zero desire for sex whatsoever throughout pregnancy. Poor DH. He was so happy when I suggested it the other day (in the hope of inducing labour). I couldn't get into it though, bloody PGP Sad

corgi I was 36+3 on my last day at work. Had originally planned to do another week but I used some annual leave to bring it forward and was glad I did.

chat Congrats on starting mat leave, or rather, getting the admin sorted so you can start properly Smile

I'm 41+1 today... time is actually going more slowly than the first trimester (4-12 weeks) which was bad enough!

SockQueen · 11/03/2017 15:14

Name I hope everything is going ok for you. I know how annoying it was to be constantly asked for updates when I was overdue and desperate to get the baby out, so don't feel obliged to reply, just know that I'm thinking of you!

Sending good vibes to all the other viroids too!
