Hope everyone had a good weekend. We were down admiring my new nephew again . Sister is doing really well, finding everything easier second time around and feeding like a real pro!

Think my baby is back to back at the moment at all the movements are out front. Dd was like that too but must have rotated early in labour as it all progressed quite smoothly and she popped out facing the right way.

Am still havering about the double buggy but I think will see how we go with the sling for the first while as double strollers are a lot cheaper.

DH was up half the night puking his guts up so I am really hoping it's something he ate and not a bug for the rest of us to catch. Kept me up half the night, too but at least today is dd's nursery afternoon so only have to cope with a perky toddler in the morning!!

Hope Tili & Pesha are OK.

claricebean · 12/02/2007 09:33

Wow, loads of posts to catch up on as usual. So a quick hello to everyone before I go off to read them. HELLO.

We had a lovely weekend. Spent yesterday having a long breakfast with friends while the kids played in the park. Then lunch with my three in a restaurant because I couldn't face cooking again. Relaxing afternoon and early to bed. Sadly, DS - who is normally an excellent sleeper - was up a few times in the night. He's had a temperature on and off for a couple of days now and hsa been v sleepy during the day. Not sure if it's connected with the chicken pox, but the spots are nearly all gone so I don't think it can be. DD2's class now has 8 children with the pox - all the way from Blighty .

Maveta, was thinking this morning, have you tried bananas when you're having a hypo. Your body digests them very quickly, that's why you see tennis players at Wimbledon eating them in the breaks. Anyway, I find them helpful so just a random thought.

Right, off for a read. Talk later

flumppootle · 12/02/2007 09:50

morning all

Liath very at snuggles from your new nephew you lucky thing Hope you dont come down with dhs sickness. Have you sorted out your parcel?

I am starting to notice newborns when I am out more now. Still cant believe that there will be another one here soon. They look so small and cute
Time seems to be going so quickly think that I had better start sorting things out now - lol.
Double buggies are great but some of them are SO heavy. I borrowed one of the tandem ones but didn't know that they were not recommended for those under a certain height and kept having to take running jumps at the kerbs Thankfully my pram has a toddler seat that goes on top so I can use it as a double or single. It was v.expensive but I guess that it will have done 4 children by the time I am finished with it so was worth the investment.
Bugmum - go for it! Get the one that you want, we put miles on these prams

I am quite tired today, dh was up at 3am to go up to Edinburgh and I didn't sleep well after that. Dropped dds off at school and was at a child in dds class. I opened the door to walk through and this child shoved past me (I had nowhere to go) she then shouted at me "your baby just pushed me" What the heck do you reply to that????

Bramshott · 12/02/2007 10:02

Morning everyone!

Urggh, very bad night's sleep last night, although I am trying to tell myself I probably slept more than I think I did, only in short stretches! Was definitely asleep when DD came in at 2.45 (how does she always KNOW when I'm having a bad night?!). Can't decide whether the pains that were keeping me awake were indigestion cramps or Braxton Hicks - bump kept going rigid and painful, and then pain spreading to my lower back too, then going away again. Of course, given my mental state and past history, I was paranoid that I was going into labour! Needless to say I wasn't, and it's all gone away this morning. Are Braxton Hicks supposed to hurt?!? The Bounty book says "painless contractions" but I wouldn't be surprised if it were lying .

Better go - loads to do this morning, then DD has two friends coming to play after pre-school. Think they'll notice if I sneak upstairs for a quick nap?!

claricebean · 12/02/2007 10:03

Hi Flump, glad you're ok. LOL at child's commment.

9 weeks - hope your MW is helpful about the possible AND. Hugs to you.

CD - hope pain is still going. I would've done the same in your position. Am a lot more pragmatic about decisions when they involve getting DC out of bed.

MIABT - glad you had a nice trip to the park. We all felt better after ours.

Liath - sweet about your nephew.

eca - v impressed with your DH's dedication.

Can't remember anything else now. Getting my GTT results tomorrow. My next appt with my obstetrician has been put back a week till 26th Feb, but I get another scan then - last chance to see her before she's born. .

DH back in 5 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Babe due in 7 weeks and 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!

cazboldy · 12/02/2007 10:03

Hi all!
what a delightful child flumppootle!
I too am thinking about the millions of things to do before the baby arrives ...... add to that that we are moving in 2 weeks time.............

claricebean · 12/02/2007 10:06

Hi Bramshott, x post. about your bad night. Mine was similar - couldn't get to sleep for ages, then DS in bed for an hour between half one and half two. Then heard him going into DDs' room just before 7 when they were still asleep and we should've had another 45 minutes. Aaahhh

flumppootle · 12/02/2007 10:07

Wondering if any of you can help. I looked at the liquid iron products in Boots a the weekend but they seemed to contain a different amount of iron per dose than the tablets. I need to take 200mg twice a day and dont know if there is the equivalent amount of available iron when its in liquid form (ie. more is absorbed when its liquid so need to take less) Any ideas?

CaptainDippy · 12/02/2007 10:33

I take one 200ml capful of Floradix a day, just after lunch - That seems to do the trick!

Morning all - Pain is back with avengence and has moved - into my back (lower) and side - painful when I cough or generally do anything! Pretty convinced it is a pulled muscle and nothing to do with bubs directly - The PostNatal talk I'm doing for the NCT tonight is actually being held at our local maternity unit, so I'm going to call before I go and see if I can see someone tonight - Hope so!!

DD1 is at a friends and DD2 is napping, so catching up on here and then I am going to rest with Pain au Chocolat and "proper" coffee - It's going to be the only chance I get this week, I'm sure, so I am going to make the most of it! Mine and DH's good friend is coming to stay for the week, which is v.exciting! She is lovely, she doesn't have any children of her own, but her BF is a single mum of 2 and she helps her out loads. It'll be so nice to have an extra pair of hands and some company this week - Esp as it is 1/2 term so no Pre-School for DD2!!

Cough is still baaaad. Humph.

Bramshott - Sorry about your terrible night and that you're not feeling so good. [hugs] Hope you feel better soon, honey.

WCL - Thank you soooo much for your post about having a successful homebirth after having an early baby - Made me feel v.reassured - much appreciated! It can be done! Are you planning to have this one at home too? (I am pretty sure you are, but just checking...)

Eddas - My DD1 will be 3 in two weeks () and definitely still needs to go in the pram on occasions, couldn't live without it - Buy it!!

Hope your GTT results are ok Clarice - let us know hon!

BTW - I think a "Paranoid Smiley" would be a mixture of this and this!

Not going to have a lot of time to post this week; but will be checking in occasionally and thinking of you all!

liath · 12/02/2007 10:44

Mutual group hugs to all us tired out pregnant ladies!! Hope we all get better nights tonight.

DH is tucked up in bed looking pasty, dd happily "cooking" some bits of apple on her toy cooker.

Feel a bit stupid re the parcelforce thing as it turns out one of the neighbours spotted the wheelybin had been put next to the front door, thought it looked odd and recued the parcel and stashed it in their garage for us. Oops. Still think it's a slightly silly place to leave a package....

Bramshott, I tend to get uncomfortable BHs and they got quite painful in the last few weeks last time & I still went a week overdue. Fingers crossed that's what's happeneing with you.

CaptainDippy · 12/02/2007 10:46

Liath - Don't feel stupid - It is a ridiculous place to leave a parcel - Glad your neighbours rescued it for you though!

Bramshott · 12/02/2007 11:13

Liath - glad it turned up!

AngeG - hope your scan today goes well honey and you're reassured about the baby's growth.

9weeks - how are you doing today?

1becomes3 · 12/02/2007 11:15

It is official I only have a max of 8 WEEKS LEFT SHIT

(Actually only 30 weeks today but the consultant said the c-section would be at maximum of 38 weeks!)

Soooo goood to know I won't have to go over due with these two don't think I could cope with that.

Anyway had a quite good weekend, was papmered by my mum, foot and back rubs ect.

My dad was beginning to get on my nerves a bit, I thought that grandparents were all supposed to spoil the GC and want to be their favourites, but not my Dad.
He kept telling DD off so such stupid stuff, like not wanting to put her coat on when we were going to go in the car, which is pointless as she doesn't wear a coat in the car gets a bit hot.
He just seemed to keep going on and on at her really started to get to me.
Guess it just reminded me a bit to much of my childhood with him (not the best relationship)
Now I don't really want to leave her with him, he's mean, even my mum picked up on it.

In other news well there isn't any really, have to go and do online tesco shopping now, will be back later to catch up a bit.

Bramshott · 12/02/2007 11:16

Sorry, and CD - sorry to hear your back is still bad. It's SOO easy to pull muscles when you're pg isn't it. I twanged something the other day just twisting to do up the zip on my trousers!

Thanks everyone for the hugs - I'm doing fine (daylight hours anyway) but think I just have to resign mysefl to the fact that the next 10 day are going to be a bit tense.

Bramshott · 12/02/2007 11:17

Glad your mum has been looking after you 1b3. Any news on the house?

CaptainDippy · 12/02/2007 11:48

Grrrr! @ your dad 1B3 - What a strange way to behave, silly man! I am glad your mum was such a sweetie though - Guess you just have to put up with it as their help and support is going to be so invaluable to you, esp when the twins arrive! [hugs]]

Wish I could stop coughing - really huts my back.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 12/02/2007 12:13

Morning all. Lots of threads today.

CD, sorry to hear the pain is back again. Hope you feel ok and don't tire yourself out with your guests.

Bramshott, hope you are ok too after your broken night.

Liath, glad the parcel was ok, but I would still have a go at them for leaving in such a stupid place. Hope you don't get sick.

Hi Eddas, long time no see.

Can't remember anything else! Just read the posts, then fil phoned, and I have forgotten everything again.

I am being a bit naughty and taking a sickie today - will have to discipline myself! I did feel pants over the weekend, but tbh cannot be arsed to go in. Also, dh is off today and we went down to look at another Picasso - and have bought it!!! So, time well spent. He is now out with Becky for the day meeting a friend and his dd, so I have a free afternoon - lovely! Feel on top of the World today, as we all slept solidly until 7.30 am! Makes such a difference.

Anyway, lots of love to everyone that I have and have failed to mention. See you later. x

WestCountryLass · 12/02/2007 12:39

CD, yes deffo planning a homebirth again this time. It was a really healing experience (and I am not a hippyish person!). With DS the actual birth was fine but as soon as he was born he was whipped away, and rightly so, but when he was in the NICU he was not my baby and I found the whole experience extremely trying (having worked in the NHS and a firm believer that patients ld be kept informed, pro-kangaroo care etc) as my experience was the polar opposite.

With DD, the midwives mainly observed and did not intervene and it was lovely to just get on with it afterwards.

AngeG · 12/02/2007 13:30

Hi everyone, a busy weekend I notice, I just haven't had time to post but have been trying to keep up.

Runny - I like what your physio said about SPD easing off as baby's head engages. That would be great

SOSPL - Jake's impetigo is much better thanks and he's getting used to cream up his nose Fantastic that you bought the picasso, they really are lovely cars...I have a Renault Scenic now which is quite similar, but no arm rests in the front which I really miss.

Bramshott - Sorry that you're stressing a bit. Night times are getting worse for me now, I'm also getting uncomfortable BH, which wake me up.

MIABT - Glad you had a nice family weekend. Hope the SPD has settled back down a bit.
CD - Sorry that the pain has come back, think you should really push to be checked out today. Let us know.

Sorry I know I've missed loads of people, sending hugs to everyone.

Just got back from my growth scan and all is still looking really good, baby is still measuring about average although they couldn't measure the head cos it wouldn't move...naughty little baby Follow up consultant app on thursday am hoping we can talk dates for c-section.

Hope everyone has a good day. xx

Bramshott · 12/02/2007 14:06

Glad all was well with the growth scan Ange - that's really good news!

Enjoy your afternoon SOSPL. DD has friends here, and for the moment, they are amusing themselves pretty well! Think I might get them making biscuits in a minute so I can eat some!

Quick poll re nursery time for DD once the baby is here: It seems as though they are changing the rules slightly from April and I can send her to nursery for up to 15 hours a week for free. So for a very small cost, I could send DD 4 mornings and 1 day until 3.00 for the summer term. Should I just do this and grab all the DD-free time I can get, bearing in mind baby will be small? Or should I keep her off one whole day so we have a day all together? Should I just send her mornings? Will I be bored out of my mind stuck in the house with the baby every morning? This will be DD's last term of pre-school before 'big' school in Sept. What would you do?!? I seem to have lost the power to make a decision!

Katy44 · 12/02/2007 14:20

Hi everyone,
AngeG, glad your scan went well.
I asked DH to take a photo of me 2 weeks ago, then today (exactly 30 weeks) and plan to have one every two weeks from now. It's absolutely amazing to see how much the bump has grown - not so much outwards as sideways!
On the same topic, I decided today was the day to tidy the LTRF. When I couldn't see (most of the time) I made it up, and looking in the mirror afterwards it would seem I went a bit far in my attempts to make sure I didn't miss any bits . Well on the bright side might not have to do it again until April!

YvieE · 12/02/2007 14:31

Katy44 ROFL re self trim experience.
AngeG glad the scan went well - all the best for Thursday as well
CD - Did you get the pain checked out? Hope you are feeling better anyway.
9weeks - just wanted to send you virtual hugs, hope you are feeling better, at least you'll be starting your maternity leave soon - yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy..I still have 6 bloody long weeks left to go until i start mine.
Katy and Dogsinsantasgrotto - Ditto re movements - sometimes i don't feel her moving then looking down and my tummy looks as if its been invaded by aliens, doning all sorts of body popping movements!

Katy44 · 12/02/2007 14:48

Hi Yvie

Birdiebump · 12/02/2007 14:49

Hi there lovely ladies!!

My posts are coming at more civilised hours - long may it continue!

Shopping in Exeter was a disaster - I just get too exhausted to last. Took the first train home I could, then DH had left the lights on in his car so I had to walk home from the station - grrr! Lay on the sofa for most of the rest of the day..... Internet shopping from now on. Definitely recovering from the flu but still getting soooo tired and my lovely doctor has signed me off work for another week!! Which is good, cos' after that I too have about 5-6 weeks of work to go . Finally seeing mw today which I am glad about as have not had LO checked out at all during this flu thing and would like to put my mind at rest etc.

Katy44 - I too went the "self-trim" route this weekend. Didn't look at the results too closely but it feels much better!

Bramshott - re nursery - I have a similar dilemma but have yet to even start thinking about it so well done for being a step ahead! TBH my DS2 is such a little livewire, I think I will be going for as much nursery time as possible. You will still have your DD most afternoons which should break the day up a little, but I'm thinking I'll never get the time alone with my newborn back again and am aiming to take all I can get. I find DS2 gets very bored if he's home too much anyway - I can't keep up the levels of activity and stimulation he gets at nursery, esp not at the moment!

Off to tidy some clothes, then will check in again.

GirtWaspbElly · 12/02/2007 14:52

Not posted for aages. All well here really - just TIRED - not sleepy at all late at night although definately tired just unable to sleep. Bah.

RE movements - with Ds it all felt more like turning over/stretching type things. Thsi one does riverdance and goes completely mad for a good 5-10 mins a time! No need for a mental kick chart this time. Ds was moving through an anterior placenta though, and this time not. Also had my first BH's this week (had none with ds) and yes - painful like onset of labour - full back pain owwws. (Backpain labour can't you guess)

CD - I can sympathise with the shock of a quick labour though as felt v detatched from the whole world after entire job was completed in just over 2 hours.

1b3 - means that we're due about the same time as we're expecting from 4th April although being 10 days over last time I'm not exactly banking on it

Really looking forward to mat leave with ds at childminders - time to myself - oh bliss! Am deliberately not dwelling on how unlikely it is to happen for x number of years hereafter!
