SOL - can I ask you... re:your sis, is it poss to have that many c-sections? I thought you were only allowed a couple or something. I've been panicing about if i had to have one, being limited to a certain number of kids???

Also, what's even better about getting a picasso is that my dad is hinting that he's going to pay for it for us!! I guess that kind of makes up for him totally forgetting my birthday!

Bramshott · 11/02/2007 20:20

Sorry, that sounded moanier than I meant it to!! Had a good day today, just sympathising / empathising with others that I think it's easy to feel down at this point, when we're kind of nearly there so it's all getting more real, but because there are still theoretically 2 months to go, it feels like there's still an incredible amount to be ticked off before we're ready.

Eddas · 11/02/2007 20:24

Hi all, haven't posted for a while but have been reading through all the many posts trying to keep up. You lot reallt do talk !!

Felt the need to post when read bramshotts post re the hospital bag. Have been getting the bits ready to put in mine over the weekend. But I didn;t even think about a bag for dd !! What was I gonna do, chuck her out the car at a relatives with nothing. Poor little thing, that is now going on my to do list!!! Thanks bramshott

eca · 11/02/2007 20:26

bramshot- i think it's understandable for you to feel a bit nervous being a week off when you had dd. And as well as that, i think you're right that we're all hitting a point where we start to panic, getting closer, single figure weeks etc, but still a couple of months!

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 20:39

Hi guys - Unit was shut again today (and for tonight) and pain has subsided loads - So I called up a good friend of mine who is a MW and had a chat -she said if there's no bleeding and baby is still bouncing away merrily, not to worry - there's nothing more they would do for me at the Unit than she could do over the phone. I think I have just pulled a muscle or something - I need to make another MW appt, so I'll mention it when I book that. Thank you for your concern - I think you guys care more than the people around me in RL!!! [hugs]

Yes, I did recommend the NCT Classes doginsantas ..... glad you have enjoyed them and they have been beneficial! I've got to go and do the PostNatal Talk for our tomorrow night.

Bugmum - Buy the pram!!!! Go for it, esp as you are having another boy and are saving stacks of money that way - You will be soooo glad you did it, trust me!!

Bramshott - [[hugs]] I have those moments all the time honey - and you have got even more reason to feel anxious after your DD coming early last time. >> Glad you've got the bags semi-packed, must make you feel a lot better. Haven't thought about my bag or anything for the DD's. I am very "live for the moment" person, I'm afaid ....

Hi Eddas - Good to "see" you!

Bramshott · 11/02/2007 20:44

CD - glad you are feeling reassured but that the unit was shut again. I saw Eastbourne on the list that someone else mentioned in the Observer today, and thought of you (Brighton was there too - great!). Bet you're glad you're planning a homebirth!

Eddas - it was actually DH who reminded me about a bag for DD . Glad me posting it reminded you!

WestCountryLass · 11/02/2007 20:44

Bramshott,

I am at the same stage as when I had my eldest and it is weird, thinking baby could come any time - and be too early (((hugs)))

My DD was only a week early but I had a bag packed at 32 weeks just in case, never needed it though!

I have hardly got anything ready this time but am intending on getting some nappies and stuff like that this week!

Was there a reason your first was early?

WestCountryLass · 11/02/2007 20:46

CD, glad you are feeling reassurred. Where abouts are you? Can't believe maternity units shut as it is a 24 hour business, no but I am near a city so everything open all the time here.

Bramshott · 11/02/2007 20:54

WCL - not that they know of. They are taking swabs for infection as aparently that's quite likely, only I keep forgetting to phone up for the results . Do you know why your DD was early? I will take heart from your second birth though - 1 week early sounds just about perfect to me !!

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 20:57

I know, it is crap indeed! Our matenity unit and peads will almost definitely be closing down and moving to Hastings (45 mins away) by July / Aug - Glad my bubba is due in April, so I've at least got some chance of being transferred locally. Yes, I am pleased I am planning a homebirth!!!

Thinking a lot of babies are going to be born in lay-bys on the way to Hastings .....

Eddas · 11/02/2007 20:59

I can't beleive that the maternity units actually shut either, what's that all about (money I know!) but really are you just not to give birth or have problems out of hours!!! My unit is clowly getting smaller and threatening closure but it is still there at the moment!

Just been looking at our stat thread and I'm scarily near the beginning of it (due 2nd). Can't acutally believe i've only got 7 weeks left. Mind you dd was 2 weeks late so I do keep adding 2 weeks in my head!!

Has anyone else been induced last time round and really not want to be this time? I just do not want that again. Got any tips to avoid it? Not sex though!!!

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 20:59

They think my DD2 was early cos of infections etc too - Hoping it doesn't happen again this time - TBH I am not giving it a lot of thought - just staying positive and concentrating on getting to 37 weeks this time ......

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 21:02

I was induced last time, but not cos I was late, but cos they needed to get get DD2 out - Being induced was horrid - if nice and quick (!!) Stay positive and believe it won't happen this time - 2 weeks is only a guideline, if you are happy and bubba / placenta is happy, there is no reason why you shouldn't just stay put til bubba is ready to come (my BF had her two at 42+2 and 43+6 respectively - admitedly, they were big, but they were healthy and absolutely fine!!)

oooggs · 11/02/2007 21:03

1B3 - hope you had a good weekend with no computer

I am 32 weeks on Thursday and have a scan and see the consultant on 21 Feb. Hoping for a natural birth (I think) also hoping that on this day we will have more info and be talked through some options.

Hope everyone else is well

We have a Picasso and now the have launched the C4 Picasso I would like one of those (In my dreams says DH!!!!)

Eddas · 11/02/2007 21:06

CD glad yours was quick, mine took bloody ages!!! that's why i don't want it again. I'm going to mw on wed so i'm going to talk to her about it. Not worrying but just want to have it in my notes that we've spoken about it and want her advice on refusing it. I know they do it for your good and the baby's but if all is fine i think i'll tell them to wait. Refused a sweep last time as that just did not sound pleasant. Have heard it does help sometimes but i'm really not up for being poked about downstairs more than i really have to!!!

muminabigtumi · 11/02/2007 21:07

Helo everyone

Well another weekend is all but gone! They are just flying by at the moment! Had a lovley day actually - we went to the park and fed the ducks with James and there is a small steam train that Phil and James went on a few times before going to the kiddies play area - doesn't sound like much but it was actually a bit of a major event that I managed to get Phil into the fresh air and away from the TV for a few hours and we allr eally benefitted from it...well I did until I got home and my SPD kicked in - youch!

9weeks - Hug - hope you get to speak to someone soon about how you are feeling, I don't like to think of any of us feeling low as I remember how pants I felt when I had a phase of feeling like that in the early stages of pregnancy. Thinking of you - it's just so hard when you have such a busy life and also other kids that can be demanding. Can I ask you - I never even thought you could be sterilised at same time as section and I would be interested in this - do you just ask the consultant when you see them before hand??

weeonion - hope the decorating is going ok
Eca - hope DP is ok after his long cold night.
Bugmum - I would buy the pram - treat yourself - like you say there is not alot you need second or more time round and if you can afford it then I would go for it.
Eddas - nice to see you here again and also Doginsantas grotto - was wondering if you were ok. Glad you enjoyed your classes.

Want to know how EllieK's wild weekend went........still not had any recently...harrumph! lol

SOSPL - glad your armpit is feeling better - if your galnds are up it is probably a wee virus - get to bed and get some rest whilst you can....I so sympathise with Becky getting up early. James has been kind this weekend and I didn't have to get up till 7am this morning.

Right off to e-mail rellies with a pregnancy update!
Speak tomorrow ladies and a big hug to everyone else I've not personally mentioned.
Brain = Fudge
x

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 21:10

Don't blame you hon - Stick to your guns - like I said, if everyone is happy and healthy, there's no reason to force to go for an induction - It's your body and your baby!! Girl power!!!! Hope you don't have to anyway. sorry your induction was looooong last time - they didn't faff around with gels and ARM for me as membranes had already ruptured, they just whacked me on the dtip and she was out in 1hr 26mins - Wish I had opted for an epdidural .....

Go ooooogs - planning on having your babies naturally - I am in awe!! Hope appt and scans go well.

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 21:12

Glad you had such a lovely family time MIABT!!

oooggs · 11/02/2007 21:13

CD - I mean naturally as in not 'c section' I will have every drug under the sun and an epidural like I did last time

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 21:15

Well, of course (your perogative!!), but you are still planning to pop two out of your fanjo - Still in awe, even if you do it so drugged up the eyeballs that you can't remember a blinkin' thing!!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 11/02/2007 21:15

CD, glad things have calmed down a but and your mind has been put at rest a bit.

Bramshott, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit edgy, and as others have said, it is no surprise given the circumstances last time around.

I have felt a bit panicy too and not organised in the slightest. I think it is a different ball game as well, when you have another lo to think about.
I am also terrible for thinking something is going to take me much longer to accomplish and put myself under unnecessary pressure that way! Anyway, hugs to you. x

eca, I thought that 3 c sections was the max, but obviously not. I don't think they recommend more than 3 really tbh.

Hope everyone is ok. I am going to have a nica cuppa and then I am off to bed.
So, sleep as well as you can my lovelies and see you in the morning.

Love sospl! xx

Eddas · 11/02/2007 21:17

Am now very jealous that it was so quick, but sound like there were other things that weren't so good so won't be too at you CD!!!

I had my first gel at 7pm on mon and dd eventually arrived at 1am thurs!!!! Wasn't in labour all that time but was in the hospital hearing the other mothers come and go. I had a few rachel from friends moments(sorry love that program) ans was like she only just f'in came in and she's 4cm, bloomin cheek. All I got was 'well your not dilated!' Am not going to hospital til i have to this time, it's only 10 mins away so I can afford to wait a while

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 21:17

Mmmmmm ...... "nice cuppa" - that sounds good (gosh, I am getting old!! )

Hi SOSPL!!

eca · 11/02/2007 21:19

at 43+6 CD!!! Wow! Impressive.

Glad you had nice w'end miabt!!

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2007 21:20

No, seriously, don't be too - It was very, very, very ,very painful and frightening if I am totally honest - I was glad it was over quickly, but I think I am still slightly emotionally scarred by the whole thing - Why the heck do you think I am pushing for a homebirth this time....

Sorry yours was so bloody drawn out though - you poor thing. [hugs]
