My poor dd has a fat lip!! She slipped on the sofa and bashed her lip on the arm. It couldn't have hurt that much because she cried for about 2 seconds then phsl whilst I chased her round the house with a cloth trying to mop up the blood pouring from her mouth! I'm not going out today coz she seriously looks like someone has punched her!

I sympathise with all who had a bad night. I woke up at 2.30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Was just lying in bed wide awake. I hate that coz that's when you start worrying about things, then it's even harder to get back to sleep. In the end I went in the spare room and read. Managed to get to sleep in the end, but now I'm knackered. I'm going to put dd in bed for her nap after Big Cook Little Cook and have a snooze myself!

Shit, as I write this dd has just climbed on the coffee table and fallen off! No tears, but a big red mark on her chin!! I'm def not going out now, I'll get arrested!!

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 10:33

ouch! lips are the worst because there's aways so much blood! tho I have to admit, you did make me laugh H&A.
Oh yes, am still here. DD can't be arsed with playgroup either it seems ...

Seansgirl · 07/03/2007 11:12

My God Bump, what the hell gets in to people? Why do they feel the need to be so vile? I probably would have reacted the same as you TBH. Tho inside would have been wanting to beat her to a pulp with a stick! It is a complete load of bs and I would take no notice of what she said. I hate being prg, but love the end result. I wouldn't worry about bonding we all do it in our own way and in our time! When the time comes just relax and remember that it is just a short time that they are small and it goes faster than you can blink! You'll be great and your LO is lucky to have a Mum like you who is obviously kind, caring and sensitive not like that b*h, its a shame her LO(s) have to put up with such a miserbale crticial know-it-all hag like her!

Must go and skivy as have house viewing at 12.45 today and have to tidy and clean. TBH I'm getting a bit fed up with this and last night went to bed thinking lets just take the house of the market and forget about it for a while! Back later xx

Daisybump · 07/03/2007 14:08

Juist a short one as I'm due back at work kind of now. Good for you Bumper sticking up for yourself. That woman sounds like a real cow
Foxy...doing better...much easier when Dh is in Lincolnshire. This weekend we're doing family stuff to try and relax, but I feel like I'm an emotional pressure cooker. Work pooey and stressful which doesn't help.

And on the kiddy behaviour....DS got hold of a brand new lippy (Estee Lauder and only bought that day, never even worn) one night and every bit of him that wasn't covered in jammies was bright red, even his feet!!. He has very blond hair which was pink for four days...now why doesn't it ever last that long on my gob!! Had to laugh though as he had this startled 'What?....' expression when I turned on the light and saw him. He didn't much like being scribbed with a scrunchie though....so lesson learnt

BadZelda · 07/03/2007 14:27

Hey Daisybump - what a stupid woman! Of course you're going to be bigger each time she sees you: you'll keep getting bigger till the baba arrives - and it would be rather worrying if you didn't! I really didn't enjoy being pregnant the first time round, and used to refer to my daughter as the 'alien', 'parasite' etc - but it only took a couple of weeks to bond with her once she arrived - so I wouldn't worry too much. You obviously can't know how you'll feel in advance, but you strike me as a caring and sensitive person, so I'm sure it will be fine. This time round the pregnancy is much better for me: in fact I'm positively enjoying it. That may be partly because I'm not suffering crippling back pain this time (a stone lighter and way more assiduous with pelvic floor excercises may be contributing to that) but it's also because it's not all so unpredictable and scary, and now I can't wait to meet LO when she arrives. Anyway, good for you standing up for yourself. Don't feel bad about feeling negative - it's only natural to resent all the changes that have been forced upon you, even whilst you may really want the baby,

sputnik · 07/03/2007 15:02

Bump, what a cow . She was talking crap and I have to agree with Seansgirl's character assessment there.

Marylou, serves you right for crowing about your 8 hours sleep the other day . Really I'm not secretly happy that everyone is joining me in the insomniac camp at all

Taffindra · 07/03/2007 15:24

Daisybump - just ignore her (but v.glad you did stand up for yourself, how gutted would you be if you meekly hadn't said anything?) The trouble with being pregnant is that it seems to be public property, everyone has an opinion and thinks its OK to air it - ie how large you are, what you are eating, how you should be bonding, etc. etc. Just zone it out if you can!

REALLY SORRY to bring the thread back to buggies, but does anyone have an opinion on the Bebe Confort, particularly the Loola style? I've seen them around and they look great, seem quite light, are well priced and seem pretty versatile. Any opinions? WE have the Maclaren Techno XT at the moment- greatest buggy ever, but not brilliant for tiny ones. Also am needing a change of scene buggy wise....

Seansgirl · 07/03/2007 15:56

After running around like a mad woman tidying and cleaning the viewing went well and the womans husband wants to come at 7pm tonight! Eek! That means keeping the house 'neat' this afternoon whilst DD is here! That is going to be a challenge! So this is a short post as better get off here and keep an eye on things as when I'm on MN things are likely to get ransacked! Heaven knows what we'll do if we sell it at the end of this - do into a flat spin I think!

hollyandalice · 07/03/2007 15:58

God I feel really old! I'm doing some market research for Cosmo atm. All I have to do is read the magazine then fill out a survey on what I think (I get Cosmo every month for 6 months free!!). The latest one arrived this morning and I've just sat down and read it and absolutely nothing in it is revelant to me! I'm only 25, yet I feel 45 after reading that! I have no interest in snaring men or indeed looking good naked in front of them. I'm lucky if I manage to slick on a coat of mascara and brush my hair before I go out, so the beauty articles do not apply and as for fashion I am no longer a size 10 so that's out the window too!! Maybe I'll just go back to reading Mother & Baby magazine, much more interesting!!

Taffindra the Loola is lovely. One of my friends has it and she loves it. It is easy to push and you can clip a carrycot onto it and the seat faces either way. It does fold up quite big, but not as big as most travel systems.

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 16:10

I WANT A NEW BUGGY! Ohh, its no fun having to use my tired old double again!

hollyandalice · 07/03/2007 16:20

Why not buy yourself some new shoes instead, you'll prob get more pleasure out of them than a buggy?! Oh and you'll obv need a matching handbag too!!! It's only fair!

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 16:21

oh I did that last week didn't I? They are still in the bag.

hollyandalice · 07/03/2007 16:24

Oh I remember, the leopard ones! Maybe you should wear them to toddler group or to the supermarket, or maybe just around the house! They sound perfect for hoovering in!

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 16:34

Better still, am going to wear them shopping on friday whilst looking for substantial bits of baby kit that I don't really need to buy!!!

bumperlicious · 07/03/2007 17:01

H&A I feel the same about cosmo, in fact the only one of those glossies that I like is Eve, but that marketed towards people 10 years older than me! Used to like New Woman, but it's changed recently and no longer has any substance (well, as much as any of them have anyway). Bought my first pregnancy mag this weekend, but really it's not a patch on MN!

Just been to Dr's for antenatal appointment, and the good news is she doesn't think I m depressed (despite me blubbing my way through my appointment) but she thinks I am anxious and has told me to try and relax and not worry so much (chuh! It's like asking me not to breathe!) so any relaxation tips or things I can do to cheer myself up would be much appreciated. Looks like I may have to resort to retail therapy, which is actually counter productive as I then just feel v guilty over money spent! I'm a complex being. Is it just me who is a conflict of emotions?!

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 17:29

oooh, thats good bumperlicious! glad to hear you are anxious and not depressed

be kind to yourself (this includes being generous to yourself obviously). long warm lavender baths, a good book, early nights, long days of retail therapy. All those little things that make us happy - and which will be impossible to do in 4 months time!!

doggus · 07/03/2007 17:54

I am pleased for you, bumper, re the GP appointment, you must feel better having been reassured you are stressed and worried and not AND.

H&A - I read Cosmo assiduously through the 1980s when it was mainly about sex, but it went off the boil for me. Bumper, my fave is Eve, too, but then it is aimed fair and square at me, being 39! I also really like Easy Living and have a soft spot for Good Housekeeping. In fact I am a magazine junkie - dh took the piss so much when I bought OK! I stopped, but I still read Heat (sad but true).

Seansgirl - let us know what happens with the house! We are viewing this week, we live in a lovely house currently but it is totally couple-oriented, not at all child friendly (sloping garden, more of a cliff really, on three floors with master bedroom two floors away from other bedrooms, open-plan..).

annobal · 07/03/2007 18:37

Bumper, have you ever tried homeopathy? I am seeing one through this pregnancy and have found it fabulous. There are remedies you can take for feeling down and anxious as well as insomnia and loads of other things. If you decide not to, do remember that your body and mind are going through so many changes at the moment so be kind to yourself and it is okay to get upset and tired and annoyed.

I'm going out tonight and would really just love to curl up with a good mag (also love Easy Living and any crappy gossip mag - esp Grazia) but currently watching Scrubs while DH putting LOs to bed. Must go and apply some very strong concealer to the dark circles under my eyes.

annobal · 07/03/2007 18:38

PS Doggus your house sounds lovely!

derlor · 07/03/2007 18:57

Bumper, have you ever tried raiki (not sure of spelling) or reflexology - i highly recommend both. Very relaxing. though have not given myself any time during this pregnancy to get either!!! note to self - make appt for some girly relaxation immediately!!!!! wouldn't it be nice if we all actually took time out for ourselves instead of just talking about it - we should all make a pact to get some form of treatment in the next week - no excuses, do we really need to buy all those baby vests, babygrows, breast pads etc.... LETS LOOK AFTER US WHILE WE STILL HAVE THE TIME Spend a fraction of the baby money wisely (at the beauty salon) baby's will appreciate it too.

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 19:11

oh derlor, good idea! would love to - am planning my escape for 2 nights somewhere nice which does treatments. Been meaning to do it for a year now...
Annobel, I am meant to be out tonight but bailed - all of us did actually. How sad! You go and have fun!
Looking forward to catching up with America's Next Top Model, the rest of last nights pud and my book ... you never know, might get some sleep tonight!

hollyandalice · 07/03/2007 19:13

Glad you are ok bumper, must be quite a weight off your mind. Make sure you get loads of pre-baby relaxation time once your maternity leave starts.

Sympathy here annobal on the dark circles under eyes! I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror and thought "mmm...did I forget to take off my make up last night?". Then I remembered I didn't wear any make up yesterday and it wasn't mascara under my eyes, but some rather large black suitcases! Must try lavender oil. Gonna send dp to the dr for his snoring, it's getting worse and I think I might kill him before this baby is born!

annobal · 07/03/2007 19:19

I find a good swift kick often works

annobal · 07/03/2007 19:19

for snoring that is...

foxybrown · 07/03/2007 19:19

snoring is a huge issue here! DP wears a gum shield contraption at night (www.sleepro.com I think) which really helps. you have my sympathy!
