OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Friend of mine (very well rounded and informed mother of 3) told me you shouldn't vacuum whilst pregnant. You probably shouldn't cut the grass either.

DD1 had temp last night, woke up and crawled into bed with me at 10. Insisted I left the light on. Went looking for her bloody pink sodding power ranger at 3 am in the living room. crappy night, am knackered. DH got up with boys and did it all. Still got the hump with him for wanting to go to a rugby match on Mother's Day! It wouldn't be so bad, but he normally works away Mothers Day weekend, so has missed most of them in the last 5 years. He's making a special trip back this year. For the bloody rugby!!! Grrrrrr!

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 11:13

LOL Wallpaper paste and flies heh heh heh

marylou23 · 06/03/2007 11:23

Mmmm. Cup of tea and two chocolate hobnobs. Sorry to hear about lack of sleep - I guess that's all ahead of us first timers (hate to do this to you, but I got a full eight hours last night. bliss. )
I heard the same thing about vacuuming. Plus ironing, cleaning, cooking and trekking to the supermarket (I think baby shops are fine, though, as are shoe shops. And bag shops, obviously... )
Sigh. Better get back to work...

hollyandalice · 06/03/2007 11:38

Glad to hear it! Maybe I'll just sit on my arse all day and eat crisps if housework is so dangerous! I made dp clean behind the toilet before he went to work this morning. We have a serious mildew problem (our house is sooo old and cold and has lots of problems like this!) and the cleaner smells horrid and I'm sure breathing it in can't be good for me! Maybe I can buy some toxic washig up liquid and washing powder and kitchen cleaner. It's really not good for the baby breathing in all those chemicals!

sputnik · 06/03/2007 11:55

Had a crappy night here too. DD woke up coughing, woke me, I started coughing, woke DH, he started coughing. I have been sick for a month now..... roll on summer.

hollyandalice · 06/03/2007 12:03

Sending get better vibes to sputnik --

Just looked on this website and it tells you how many days pg you are and how many days you have left. It's pretty scary!!

SmilingKiwi · 06/03/2007 12:08

Mmmmm so glad I start work late today (best part about being self employed!) the sun is gorgeous this morning! Yes I did watch the program last night H&A, felt all proud when Justine was interviewed, go Mumsnet!
Thanks guys for all the advice on the 'first baby shop'! I am feeling much more in control and not panicked!
Annobal, We are bringing my folks over for the birth month and its nice to know they'll be here- looking forward to seeing them, its hard not to keep making big activity plans to do with them as its not just a holiday visit! I'm actually having a baby...MUST REMEMBER!
Those nasty oven cleaner fumes meant DH had the plesant job over the weekend while I was out checking out Top Shop, we are heading away for a week of sunshine and I need a maternity tankini!
xx

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 12:10

Well, H&A if you're cleaner smells horrid, you can either get a new one or have a discreet word about personal hygene ...

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 12:12

SmilingKiwi, wait til we start giving you our top tips for the 'giving birth and the days after shop'!!

hollyandalice · 06/03/2007 12:21

lol foxy!! I wish we had a cleaner, stinky or not !!

SmilingKiwi · 06/03/2007 12:24

ohhhh don't worry Foxy! I'll be asking away!! not keen on rushing to the birth center as soon as things get moving, would like to stay at home and we are having a Doula to help us, but hey, we are naive and making the most of that! (Blissful inexperience!) We're approaching this with an open mind!

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 12:27

Ooh, now about your Doula - can I ask what made you go down that path? It's something I'd really like to do, be one that is.

sputnik · 06/03/2007 12:27

Thanks H&A
Foxybrown

SmilingKiwi · 06/03/2007 12:28

Sputnik; sorry to hear your night was crappy, 1 month is a long time to cope with being sick!
H&A cool website loving those figures and calculations!

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 12:30

Good website H&A! Lots of info and figures, like it alot!

sputnik · 06/03/2007 12:41

Those pics are amazing.
I still have 110 looooooong days to go.

hollyandalice · 06/03/2007 12:47

It's pretty freaky when spelt out to you in days, I have 104 left. Seems ages, but over halfway there!!

sputnik · 06/03/2007 13:16

Me I'm hoping for a couple of weeks off for good behaviour. I wangled them last time

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 13:43

I went 10 days over last time - it was awful. Made worse as DS1 & 2 were on their due date. Thought I was Mother Superior, even my kids were bang on time. Typical of my DD to put me through it....

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 13:43

Oh, it seems like such a long way off!!!!

Daisybump · 06/03/2007 14:05

hi ladies....taken me ages to catch up and I've only been gone a day!! My top tip for first timers is don't underestimate the number of vests you need.....I bought the recommended six and had run out of them by the end of day one as until you get the hang of changing a wriggly baby (boys have the charming habit of projectile weeing everytime the nappy comes off, and girls it runs under them onto their clothes) you seem to end up changing them completely at each nappy change!! I think a minimum of 12 vests is a must....unless you want the washing machine on for four vests at a time. I'll be investing in some newborn vests from Asda or Tesco or likewise...the quality isn't great but the price is very keen and for all the time they need them they'll have grown out of them before they fall to pieces.
Not getting Marvin the cat ....the homechecker just called me and is annoyed with the girl who showed him to me as he has a bit of an unpredictable temper apparently and has bitten six people in the last week. She thinks he won't be suitable for a house with small children. So, there were one or two other possible cats, so she's going to get back to me by the end of the week. How to break it to DS....
Dreaming of fried egg toasted sandwiches lathered in salad cream here after my unsatisfying boiled egg salad for lunch. Def getting more eggs on the way home...they must be packed with whatever nutrients our bodies are craving at the moment...I can't stop drinking milk either...must be all the growing the LO is doing at the mo.

Daisybump · 06/03/2007 14:07

95 days till D-Day....seems ages away when spelled out like that!

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 14:18

you are nearly 3 weeks ahead of me . I know I shouldn't wish my last pregnancy away, and I am mostly enjoying it, but I am just too excited about this baby. And I can't wait for the birth, despite the mess and pain!
Shame about the cat, but best all round huh?
You are right about the vests, cheap and chuckable. Oooh, remember those up the back poos? Straight in the bin with those!
You seem on good form Daisy. All OK?

hollyandalice · 06/03/2007 15:09

I went 12 days over last time and was induced. If I go over again I shall make myself a permenant fixture of the birthing unit until someone sees fit to induce me. I'm determined not to go over again, the wait was horrible and I couldn't even leave the house coz none of my clothes fitted me! I was like a house!

about Marvin Daisy. Hope you get another cat really soon and hope you are ok!

Yuk back poo!! Def just chuck the vests, even if you wash it it doesn't come out entirely and you end up with faintly orange vests!

foxybrown · 06/03/2007 15:50

12 days! WOW! That's just not reasonable! How did you cope? I am worried about it happening again.
