Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Seansgirl · 02/03/2007 11:53

Hi girls, I am not very good at whats in and whats not, if I end up with something trendy then its by accident So who can tell me on the footwear front what is 'hot' and not for ballerina shoes - colours?

Am also sulking as Next the b***ds have sold out of the brown linen troseurs I wanted. grrrr... its not even summer FGS!

Seansgirl · 02/03/2007 12:01

Feeling v.grumpy today, DH says I sound like Mrs Angry as in Steve Wright style!

Have moaned for England, Scotland, Wales thus far today - Next (as mentioned), my friend last night who cheekily asked for a lift very last minute 'cos she REALLY needed a glass of wine then preceeded to talk go on about her DD how funny, clever, loved by everyone, she was blah, blah...sick sick!, My local council 'cos they are changing bin days due to recycling which means we will have a general bin for 3 effing weeks, Sainsburys 'cos they wouldn't let our local swimming school register for the active kids scheme! and The tax man who tried to bill us in advance for DHs bonus that he hasn't had yet! All a load of *! There! Feel much better about it now, am a miserable old git before my time! Pah!

Seansgirl · 02/03/2007 12:02

Think its the hormones sorry for the rant

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 12:18

ahh, don't worry.
I just bought a pair of leopard print kitten heels from TKMaxx. they have made me very happy. And Oh SO PRACTICAL when pregnant.

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 12:20

Hey Daisy, hope you're not stressing. Been thinking about you. Good luck with DH this weekend. lol

hollyandalice · 02/03/2007 12:34

Good rant seansgirl, better out than in! As for ballet pumps I think go with whatever you fancy. I have a very subdued black pair and a bright pink pair. Have also seen some summery flowery ones that I need (not want, need). Just go with what will go with most of the clothes you have. If you buy from New Look they are so cheap you can purchase in a variety of colours and patterns!!

Liking the leopard print heels foxy, sound fab!!

My dd has turned into a shopaholic!! We were at toddler group and after an hour she decided she wanted to go coz she wanted to go shopping! She was stood by the door shouting "SHOPPING" at the top of her voice! What have I done to the poor child?!

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 12:39

A good job, I'd say! I'd MUCH rather go shopping than toddler group! A perfect example of when it is appropriate to give in to a shouting child!

Seansgirl · 02/03/2007 15:16

Its like that advert isn't it? "Daddy or chips?" Chips of course! Just the same as Toddler group or shopping. give me a minute.... shopping quite obviously! Top marks and good parenting skills Holly! Toddler groups have their benefits (mixing with others, getting out of house etc.), but unless you're with the 'in' crowd of Mothers they are (yawn!) so boring!

I love kitten heels sound rather fab foxy!

Holly, thanks on the ballerinas, have three pairs already (from last year):pink, silver and a coppery/brown pair. Next have just delivered some white ones, a metallic pair and some slingbacky beige ones. Have to choose tho, can't keep them all. The metallic are way too sloppy, think I like the white ones but worried white not good? Do you know what size New Look shoes go upto Holly? I am size 9 (43), so find it a bit difficult to get shoes.

bumperlicious · 02/03/2007 16:12

H&A if you are bricking it about labour and you have already done it before (you have a DD right?) then it doesn't fill a first timer like me with confidence I was thinking along the lines of 'it can't be as bad as I think...' in fact I'm mostly in denial about the whole thing!

marylou23 · 02/03/2007 16:42

Denial is a wonderful thing. I kind of run my life by it, to be honest...
Hope everyone has a truly wonderful weekend - I have finally finished a huge piece of work that I was meant to finish last Friday which feels GREAT. Am now hoping very much that we get some more sunshine tomorrow for us all to enjoy - have fun!

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 16:48

ooh, I was bricking number 2 birth too - only because you know what to expect. Truth is, they generally get easier the more you have (she says hopefully).
No one can actually tell you how it feels you see. You can only find out for yourself. And if it were that bad we wouldn't do it again and again and again. And there are drugs.
My first was hard work, second text book at home, third was a piece of p*!
I only do it for the gas and air.

hollyandalice · 02/03/2007 16:57

Toddler group is dull! I'm currently going on a tour of all the groups in the area to find one that I like. So far no luck. All the mums have their own little groups and ignore everyone else! I have to keep at it though coz dd is soooo shy and really can't handle other children.

I don't know why I'm so scared. My labour with dd was really straightforward. 4 hours from start of first contraction to her popping out, waterbirth g&a. I can just remember the pain so vividly!!

hollyandalice · 02/03/2007 16:58

Sorry first timers, but it hurts like hell!! But def worth it in the end!

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 17:03

Yes, but it is what our bodies are made for, afterall - in the most basic sense! All being well, your body just gets on with it and knows what to do. You just gotta go through it and manage it the best you can. There's drug-free pain relief like TENS and water if you don't want to take drugs (just don't blame me if you scream for an epidural!)

Daisybump · 02/03/2007 17:10

Hi Ladies. My H came home on Wednesday but due to my early bed time haven't had much chance to discuss things till today when he was supposedly working from home. It'll be some time yet before this is sorted out and there are so many deep seated issues for us to get through. From our initial discussions, I'm not sure where we are going or whether we can get through this and am having a really hard time coming to terms with it all, whereas H thinks that he's said he's sorry so can we just move on. DS has been behaving really badly since H came home, which is the stress of it all coming out I think as he'd been the model child till yesterday. Still don't feel that I'm in a very good place, but all your kind words of support have made such a difference. Thankfully the support belt has all but cured the ligament/lower back problems....seriously recommend one for anyone out there with sacro-iliac joint probs. I'm going to order a more robust/medical looking one as this was just a cheapie from mothercare and has made all the difference, but I'll wait till I see the midwife next week and maybe she'll provide one for me free on the NHS.

Been consoling myself with thoughts of getting another cat (our dear Bruce was killed on the roads in October) H not keen as he is slightly asthmatic, but at the moment I'm not that bothered about what he thinks...he's only home at weekends anyway and Cameron and I really miss our Bruce. Would love a British Blue, but can't really justify around £300 on a cat, but concerend that rehoming centres won't give us a look in as our cul-de-sac, although very quiet, is off the busy road that Bruce was killed on and they are a bit particular about where they send cats to.

Anyway....gotta go and get tea ready and am droning on a bit....catch you all after the weekend. Thanks again ...Daisybumpxx

PS...I'm 26 weeks on Sunday...so officially in the third trimester according to Prof Regan...weh hey

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 17:14

Good to hear you are OK Daisybump. Guess you are at the start of a long road here. Sending lots of hugs.
ps Get the cat!

annobal · 02/03/2007 18:05

Good to hear things are a bit more positive and that you're ok Daisybump. Agree that you should def get the cat.

sputnik · 02/03/2007 18:10

Hi Daisybump, sounds like things are probably quite tense in your house at the moment and your DS is picking up on it. Hope you manage to sort things out, maybe go out a bit better and maybe do something fun together as a family at the weekend? Another vote in favour of the cat here

I went for my scan today, everything is fine and, despite the fact he was moving around all over the place, we managed to see all his vital organs and his face - just makes it all the more real.

Foolishly decided to combine it with a shopping trip beforehand then walk to hospital, then got my route wrong and ended up walking miles, so totally knackered. Did get a cheap and cheerful top from Zara though - not meant to be maternity but is (we chose a good time to be pg style-wise!), and a couple of 70% off Benetton jumpers for DS-to-be's 1st winter, so pleased with myself!

sputnik · 02/03/2007 18:18

Marylou, LOL at the denial thing, good strategy I reckon, time enough to worry about labour when you're in the labour room. For the record I'm firmly in the "scream for an epidural" camp.

I was lucky enough to have an easy labour last time, and I haven't given this one much thought really tbh. Whereas the issue of whether it will be too hot here by june for me to need to buy any babygrows, or whether I can get away with bodies, is keeping me awake nights

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 18:27

seems to be a common theme of shopping on this thread!
Glad to hear scan went well Sputnik.
Last time I was in labour it crossed my mind that it was going so well I could do it without pain relief. Thank God I came to my senses!

hollyandalice · 02/03/2007 18:41

Glad you are ok daisy and hope the next few days go ok. Sending you all my best wishes and (((hugs))). Def go for the cat. My grandma used to have a British Blue and he was gorgeous. We had a British Cream and she was the most beautiful cat I have ever seen!! Maybe you could find a pedigree rescue centre and get one from there. I know they have them for dogs, I'm not sure about cats though. Have a good weekend x.

Sputnik, glad your scan was ok!

derlor · 02/03/2007 18:48

hi, just a quick question for all the 26/27 weekers. over the last 48 hours my baby (no 3) has been doing somersaults and generally moving around SO much more than before - i can't remember such a change in movement hapening with 1st 2. Have i simply forgotton this stage or am i going to have my hands full in a few weeks???

Seansgirl · 02/03/2007 19:01

Daisy, thinking about you and hoping things get better over the weekend for you another vote here for the cat, think its just what you and DS need to take your mind of things. Good Luck

Sputnik, good news on the scan. Glad to hear you're keeping the side up with some shopping too!

LOL everyone bricking it! Me too! I don't know why DDs birth could be better or worse so don't why more nervous than before! Tho its the early days that scare me most! Oh well! It all goes so fast and it is worth it!

Derlor, not quite at 26/27 weeks but my DM had three of us and said that my DB (3rd one) moved so much in comparison to me and other DB that if she had him first she would have been seriously worried about us two. She says from the minute she woke up she he would do acrobatics constantly. Having said that from the minute he was born he was no more active than the next baby! Infact now, he is not what you would call hyperactive! But obviously, I am only repeating what DM has told me and I am no expert as my DD was def quiet and this one seems pretty placid sso far too.

Have a great weekend girls and bumps xxxx

TALLULAHBELLE · 03/03/2007 09:33

Thinking of you Daisybump. GET THE CAT!

Daisybump · 03/03/2007 09:58

Hi ladies.....we've done quite abit of soul searching last night and this morning, and things aren't good, but we think that we can get through this. H pushing for us to go and see a marriage guidance cunsellor, but I'm a bit about that as I've seen a counsellor in the past for depression and didn't think it was that much of a help, but at least he's showing willing. I think the fight has just gone out of me so I've agreed to give it a go (LOL we're like Tina and Max on Eastenders, but at least neither of us is having an affair). Told him that I will be having a cat and it will be a British Blue. He doesn't think we should spend that amount of money on a cat, but I'm cashing in an endowment policy (my policy that I have paid into for nearly 15 years), and was going to treat myself to a really expensive leather weekend bag, but will get more enjoyment out of the cat!...So, I've been in touch with a woman locally who is having to move house and can't take ber cat with her and she wants £175 for it. Waiting for her to get back to me with pictures. Hell, maybe I'll get the bag and the cat!!
Thanks again for all your lovely thoughts , DBxxx
