Daisy glad you and your bump and your ds are all ok. Sending you loads of (((hugs))) and hope talking things through with your h works out. Bless your little ds, he really must have made you feel so much better, he sounds like a sweetie!! I'll be thinking of you xxxxxx

Daisybump · 28/02/2007 20:27

Cheers Catkin....the virtual hugs are working wonders (damn that unmentionable woman if she manages to get this site closed down). I'm in Leeds btw!

hollyandalice · 28/02/2007 20:31

That unmentionable woman is a hag with stupid ideas (I really hate her and her wicked ways!!) .

doggus · 28/02/2007 20:38

Daisy - I feel really bad for you - bumper had a good point when she said that pg can make men do very out of character things, given that this is a one-off. I hope you get lots of talking done when it suits.

Bumper - LOL at swearing in front of unborn child. I have a mouth like a navvy which shocks a lot of people as I am well spoken/educated whatever. My mum is the culprit - she is a terribly respectable 67 year old primary school teacher who thinks nothing of leaning out of her car window and shouting 'You effing wanker' at a bad driver. I must try not to do so much of it otherwise I really will end up with a potty-mouthed child.

Welcome foxybrown - when are you due?

hollyandalice · 28/02/2007 20:46

I already have a potty mouthed child! I do swear on occassion and so does dp, but when dp is watching football he turns into a crazed lunatic and swears at the tv. The other day we were watching the football and dd came out with f*ing hell!! She is 21 months old and if it wasn't so funny I would have gone mad. She has said it a couple of times since, but atm I'm trying to ignore it as I think making it a big thing would make her say it more.

Daisybump · 28/02/2007 20:55

My DS thinks that saying 'shut-up' is swearing...which is surprising given some of the stuff that I let rip with when I'm driving!! He did famously (well in our family anyway) ask my prudish MIL where his bloody coat was!! She nearly fell off her chair apparently!

Daisybump · 28/02/2007 21:00

Hi Foxybrown and welcome here. We've met before, but I was using a different nickname...when is your due date?

bumperlicious · 28/02/2007 21:19

Daisy, we've been worried about you but glad things are a bit better. I guess the telling point will be how H reacts when he comes back. Let us know how it goes and we've be here to support you. I'm relieved to hear you say it's out of character. Could there be something else going on with him, maybe with work? Sorry you are feeling isolated. Leeds is a bit far from me, but we are here virtually for you. I hope DS is ok, kids are pretty robust and it sounds like you are dealing with it brilliantly

Thanks girls re. my arse!As you said Bumperlious I used many choice words, thankfully as it was pitch black and I think the neighbours were indoors think I got away with it! My language is appalling DH tells me off all the time he says I could get a job in a factory anytime and be one of the lads! (Think he forgets all of my jobs were base at dessert factories/bakeries and although not on the shop floor was witness to many descriptive adjectives!)

Daisy as everyone else said we are virtually here for you (((hugs))) and hopefully it will all get sorted soon for you both. Its a tough time for you but sounds like you're feeling a bit better. Hold on to that thought that it is out of character. (((More hugs))) But aaaawww! your lovely DS how sweet! DD has been talking to 'bean' as we call him/her but not tried to put her head on my tummy yet. She is really looking forward to bean arrival we have told her she a very important job when the baby comes home that she has to show the baby around the house! She is over the moon! I swear she was an estate agent in a previous life!

Glad everyone else is a gro-bag fan, we used them until DD was 2 when I refused to buy next size up and we bought quilt and converted the cotbed into bed. I originally had bought loads of sheets and blankets and have hardly used them. DD uses the small stuff for her dollies. But am interested in the swaddling might investigate the Bumpto3!

Holly, you are brave going to one of those soft play places that you have to follow them around I remember how knackered I was when not prg! They are good fun though!

Seansgirl · 01/03/2007 08:20

Sorry, Foxy forgot to say hello and welcome! We are due the same day!!

foxybrown · 01/03/2007 10:01

Hi, been trying to catch up with you all by reading the thread, but its so long!
I'm in London, have DS1 (5) DS2(4) and DD1 (2). First morning at home without any children! Feels strange. Having DD2. Bit of an anxious pregnancy up to 20 week scan, but all OK so am very excited.

BadZelda · 01/03/2007 13:22

Hi all

Hope you're all feeling good today. Just had a little comment / suggestion r.e. all the bad back / aches and pains messages that people have been posting. I had terrible back pain in my first pregnancy, which got worse and worse after baby delivered due to breastfeeding / carrying / etc. Finally went to an osteopath and it was sorted out completely in six weeks and hasn't returned so far. Basically it was mostly down to certain muscles getting weak, and other's over-compensating, and hence going into spasm. Apart from a bit of manipulation (which they can't really do whilst you're pregnant) the best way to deal with it was to do LOTS of pelvic floor excercises and also to practise standing on one leg (alternating) for a couple of minutes at a time. I also found rollerskating to be really effective...but obviously not recommended after the first trimester of pregnancy! Anyway - you probably all know all this stuff, but hope it's helpful to some of you. xxz

foxybrown · 01/03/2007 13:40

Rollerskating??? Am in awe of you BadZ!!

kiwinat · 01/03/2007 14:24

I hope everyone is ok, and getting over aches (heart or otherwise) and pains.

I've just invested in some grobags and swaddling cloths, a friend recommended them. Said babes like to feel secure without the flailing legs and arms, could be good for us too, little fists pummelling boobs while b/f can't be good for anyone.

I must say my DH is remarkable when it comes to spending which is just as well as it's hard to stop. I've bought most things online as still at work, they turn up at MIL house, he unpacks the box, and doesn't blink at the invoices. (Except once, when I spent £200 on COH mat jeans , I DID send them back though, felt too bad, and got some others for £39). I have tried to be a bit sensible, looking for deals like using ebay for the pram, and getting the Britax 0-4yr car seat instead of two. I guess it helps he's a dirty contractor and I work as well, so we don't have to worry now, but I'm not sure how I'll manage to rein in the spree when I'm off on mat leave .

marylou23 · 01/03/2007 14:43

My trick is to not actually tell DH how much everything costs... I'm the money dragon in our household, so only his golf clubs and wine orders get scrutinised; somehow I always forget to mention the things I've bought...
Hi foxybrown and welcome - here's to a less anxious second half of pregnancy.
Saw my midwife today and all seems to be going well which is great. My big priority right now is work - trying to get a whole load of deadlines out of way before May (due date 18 June, but obstetrician is recommending induction 2 weeks early so I need to be prepared...). Has meant that shopping has rather gone on the back seat lately, but changing table arrived today (first proper purchase) along with two of the most gorgeous babygros that had me melting on the floor (gotta love the White Company, particularly when they offer you 15% off...)
Other than that, just pleased it's Friday tomorrow...
Oh and just quickly, on the swearing front, my best friend's first word was 'bugger'. Every day her mum would open the cupboard under the stairs, and every day the broom would fall out onto her; cue expletive. Best friend, age one, was watching one morning and... well, you can guess the rest . Never found out what the MIL's opinion was...

foxybrown · 01/03/2007 19:13

Ahh, my favourite time of day. DCs in bed, house tidy, dinner ready. Glass of wine anyone?

annobal · 01/03/2007 19:19

Mine too. Dinner in oven, DSs in bed, DH not home yet, feet up and scrubs on

foxybrown · 01/03/2007 19:30

Ohh, I like to watch the earlier Masterchef, before I tuck into my potatoes! When are you due?

annobal · 01/03/2007 19:54

Haven't sampled Masterchef yet but must give it a go. I got a lasagne out of the freezer yesterday so that is in the oven all ready to serve when DH is home. I'm actually due at the beginning of July but have never gone past 37 weeks so thought I would join the June thread.

annobal · 01/03/2007 19:55

Oops, sorry for the very bad non-intentional pun there...

notsolilKel · 01/03/2007 23:18

hello from the jolly (and cheap ) USA. All's well after our very disasterous food poisoning incident (note to self: never again attempt packing for long-haul holiday and caring for child whilst poisoned...). DS was very good on the flight (11mo old) apart from one 2-hour episode due to a missed nap. And bless him, he finally sprouted his first tooth. Grandma overjoyed.

So. Serious shopping to be done here. And those of you that know me by now, know that when I say serious shopping, DH must only ever find out about half of it . At most . Practially salivating at the prospect of the endless racks of frilly girly things on offer...let's hope the sonographer got it right

Grobags a big favourite of mine for DS. He kicked my swaddles off at 1wk old so the 'zip 'em in a bag' concept was perfect for us. Saved us taping his little arms to his sides. Half joking...

Daisy thinking of you and DH troubles. Right must go bond with family now.

foxybrown · 02/03/2007 09:34

Morning all! Suns out, full of beans, despite being kicked in kidneys by 2 yo all night. How is everyone today? x

hollyandalice · 02/03/2007 09:37

Hey lilkel, hope you're having a brilliant time. Glad your flight was ok and you are feeling better. V jealous of your super shopping opportunties, hope you get some lovely things!!

Took my P&T out for the first time yesterday. Went into town and found it really nice to push. Felt like a bit of a saddo though as around half the people I saw with pushchairs had one. At one point I was changing dd's nappy in the John Lewis changing room and the woman already in there had a red one, then another woman came in with a blue one, then the friend I was meeting came in with a blue one too!! It was like Phil & Teds city! Maybe those of you who are looking for something a bit different should buy something else !!! I'm really happy with it though and can't wait to put the little one in it too!

Does anyone else wish they could just fast forward the next 15 weeks or so? I'm looking forward to having a new baby, but as the time approaches I'm becoming more and more scared about labour. I'm bricking it!!

hollyandalice · 02/03/2007 09:39

Hi foxy, I'm loving the sun!! Gonna go out now and take dd to toddler group. The sun makes me feel happy !!!
