hiya - welcome to the newbies and farewell for a bit. off to the US to spend 2 wks with the parents. Would be sooo excited (esp as it's DS 1st b-day whilst we're there) but managed to get food poisoning last night. DH too. Been absolutely miserable. Like MS all over again. And DS totally unhappy with teething/ear infection. OMG I thought this day would never end...and now we have a 7hr flight to look fwd to tomorrow. GAH. Never ever pizza again is all I can say!!

Thx for the salts recommendation for the varicose veins - more info?

Hope to check in from parents' as I miss you all

If only shopping therapy would help this situtation. Sigh. ((HUGS))

Hi all. Welcome to wiggles and kazh2, and welcome back sleepy chunky. I don't mean this horribly, but it is kind of good to know that we are all suffering from the same aches and pains, even at this relatively early stage - not that I wish any of you pain! Just makes me feel a bit more normal! On that note anyone find it hurts their uterus when they cough? I only really notice it when I'm laying down. And when I sneeze I literally cling on to the bump for dear life!

Hope you manage to keep everything in for a few more weeks wiggles - but good luck with everything.

Annobal: Firstly v impressed emoticon at you going to the gym (I huffed and puffed through yoga today!) I too have put on over a stone and I'm only 5'2", so I'm looking pretty huge, and sometimes, especially when I've just eaten I literally feel fit to burst. Not sure how I'm going to get much bigger!

Doggus, I think velour trackies are probably 'out' but I say this as someone who buys into a fashion trend far too late then wears it until the clothes wear out (well, we are all going to have to keep this smock top thing going for a while)! So I wouldn't worry, comfort is the key at the moment

Daisybump, so sorry to hear about you and DH. Is it a resolvable situation. Don't want to pry, and I may have misunderstood the situation, but I think that sort of behaviour is actually v common in men when their partners are pregnant. Not that that helps you at all and doesn't justify it, just might explain it a bit. I think they get jealous and can deal with the fact that our bodies are no longer here just to serve them! You know where we all are if you want to vent. You don't deserve to be treated that way, remember that xxxx

bumperlicious · 27/02/2007 20:51

Sorry to hear you are ill Kel, especially with that flight to look forward to. But have a fab time and bring us back some virtual Oreos!

hollyandalice · 27/02/2007 21:19

Have a lovely time lilkel!! Hope your flight's not too hellish. I'm sure you will be fine. I flew to Oz when my dd was 16 months and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Hope your mum spoils you rotten!!

kazh2 · 27/02/2007 22:49

thanks to everyone for a lovely welcome. Lookning forward to seeing some photo's of lovely babies come June........ I'm expecting a boy, anyone else know what you are having or are you not bothered?

Do we have a current list of who is due when, so we know who to send jogging when she is overdue !!

NattyThomasandBump · 27/02/2007 23:24

N&T&B

sputnik · 28/02/2007 10:49

Daisybump, hope you're feeling a bit better today, sending more virtual hugs your way.

Lilkel, hope you have a good time and take care of yourself on the flight. I flew to the States at around 6 months in my last pg and when I got off the plane I couldn't zip my boots up my legs were so swollen. It was a night flight and I hadn't moved much . Happy birthday to your DS too. Passing 1 year is a big deal in my book, so congrats to you too for surviving it, and pg too. My hat goes off to you!

N&T&B, hope whatever you have isn't too serious, I've been feeling really grotty too the last few weeks, but hopefully I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel at last.

Doggus, re the velour tracksuit: DON'T DO IT!!!. Well if you realy want to just don't go outdoors!

Kazh2, there is a stats thread here where you can put your due date and other info.

marylou23 · 28/02/2007 13:19

Sounds like everyone's a bit in the wars . Sending hugs and 'get better' vibes to you all and Lilkel, have a great trip. Doggus, I know exactly where you're coming from on the tracksuit - I've had similar hankerings. Can I suggest you have a quick look at Isabella Oliver - I got some 'pull ons' from her which are like a stretchy cotton version of tracky bums with a waistband that can roll down or cover your bump and they're super super comfortable, with the added benefit that Britney Spears has never, as far as I know, been seen in a pair

doggus · 28/02/2007 14:02

Sputnik - LOL at the velour trackie response, you've put me right off, which is probably just as well. I will take another look at IO....thank you everyone for their opinions!

Is anyone else getting some quite painful baby movements? It's normally fine but once or twice a day I think h/she decides to stamp (quite literally) on my cervix which has me doubled over and groaning. Dh gets the full benefit of this - he's quite worried baby's first words are going to be 'F-k, stop it.....'.

Seansgirl · 28/02/2007 14:03

Hi to everyone and welcome to newbies and welcome back SleepyChunky and NT&B, Phew! Don't think I've missed anyone.

Daisy, ((((hugs)))) sorry you are in such a bad situation, I hope that it all sorts itself out for you and H. Lots of Love and we are all here.

Wigglesmammy, sounds like a completely worrying time for you, at least this consultant sounds like hes on the ball and keeping an eye on you. On the heartburn, Gavisgone and more gavisgone and avoid (sorry) fatty, rich and spicy foods. Boring I know!

Lilkel have a great time, hope the flight isn't too bad!

Doggus, completely undertand the tracksuit thing - might be bit warm after April? But you're right on the velour unless you're never seen out and then who cares?

Annobal am very impressed about the gym. will consider weighing myself tomorrow morning I think have been putting it off for a few weeks.

On the exercise front have been swimming this morning, how unfit did I feel? must make more effort. What was worse saw about two other women obviously prg too but with very pert bumps mine is definately not pert more of a spread I think but like my DM said "What are you going to do about it now then?" well, nothing really, so should not moan and plan diet for autumn I think - slimming world watch out!!

Can sympathise on the aches and pains too, back was pretty bad over weekend as managed to slip on wet patio slabs on friday night (was collecting rosemary from garden in pitch black ) and landed smack on my arse, ripped my jeans and knickers, grazed and bruised my cheek on sharp stone . Was a bit shocked but landing on my well cushioned arse prevented any damage to LO and for rest of evening Lo preceed to move around (thank god!)

Must go and shop (yawn! how boring!!)

Seansgirl · 28/02/2007 14:06

Oh sounds painful Doggus, but no, have felt like LO is pushing outwards sort of mid tummy area like trying to escape which really made bump achey/painful and well s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d!

Seansgirl · 28/02/2007 14:09

Was thinking the other day on the shopping front no one has started the bedding debate? Whos getting what? For me its into grobag asap, will have some blankets just in case LO not heavy enough at first. Would be good if LO is girl as have range up to 2years in various pink styles ready to go.

Anyone else a grobag fan?

sputnik · 28/02/2007 15:58

Another huge fan of grobags here. I have 2 cot blankets from when DD was born that never even got taken out of their packages. By the time I get round to ebaying them they'll be vintage.

That fall sounds nasty Seansgirl, glad you're ok.

annobal · 28/02/2007 17:46

Seansgirl - poor you! Hope your bruises and sore back mend soon.

Def a fan of grobags. Have just taken DS2 out of them but he was in them since birth. Will be digging out my newborn ones in the next few months. They do last forever.

I'll need to buy a load of new sleep suits for DS3 (yes - it's another boy) as I gave away a load when we moved 6 months ago - they'd been through 2 boys and were not in great condition. Think it was probably just good planning on my part that I will now need to go shopping .

DS1 and I fell asleep watching Aladin this afternoon

doggus · 28/02/2007 17:56

Seansgirl, that fall sounds like a nightmare even if you weren't pg, I hate the shock of falling, followed by the feeling very foolish.

I have just bought a Grobag, one tog, in stripes as I don't know the sex. I'm glad you all like them as it was an impulse buy from Amazon. No other bedding needed in summer - am I right?

annobal · 28/02/2007 18:29

You're right Doggus - no other bedding required in summer. I have found though that for the first week or so it really helps the baby sleep to swaddle (not all babies like this but mine really responded well), then move on to grobags.

doggus · 28/02/2007 18:33

Annobal - I saw a swaddling kit thing in John Lewis - I might invest in it. It does seem to make sense, baby has spent nine months in confined space, shoots out into thin air and needs wrapping up tight again.

foxybrown · 28/02/2007 18:37

Any room to squeeze one more not so little one? New to MN, not so new to PG as like Kaz am on no 4.

hollyandalice · 28/02/2007 19:16

Welcome foxybrown!!

You poor thing seansgirl- sounds nasty!! Your poor bottom!! Hope it's feeling better, maybe you could put some frozen peas in your knickers! Seriously though, glad you're ok x

Daisy, hope things are going ok x

I love grobags too, dd is using them at the mo as she tends to kick off her covers. I have to say I do use a blanket as well as she has only just started sleeping in her own bed. She is used to our warm cosy bed in between two warm bodies with a big furry blanket and a duvet!! We live in a very old very cold house! I've bought one of those swaddle thingys too, it looks really good for the first weeks. If I remember rightly though with dd it was so hot the year she was born that she mostly slept in just a vest until September (she was born in May 2005).

Took dd to the soft play centre this afternoon, now I feel like I'm going to die!! Because she is under 2 I have to follow her round the obstacles and up stairs and down slides. I have achiness all over!!

bumperlicious · 28/02/2007 19:21

Hi Foxybrown - join the crowd! You are very welcome - unless you are in that lovely blooming stage with shiney hair, clear skin and not looking like you haven't had a good night's sleep in 6 months, then you'll just get lots of looks from me!
Doggus - you swear in front of your unborn child? I got told off at work because I let rip after spilling boiling water over my hand. One women was shocked that I used that language in front on my unborn child. So I'd better start getting it out of my system fk, sht, shgging bcks! That's better! Seansgirl I bet you has a few choice words like that when you slipped over. Hope you are recovering well!
I'm getting a few well placed kicks too, but it's ok, I have a spare kidney, and two lungs!

derlor · 28/02/2007 19:26

ANNOBAL heads up. hope i'm not too late after you saying you liked this but look what i just found on ebay \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Isabella-Oliver-Wrap-Cardigan-Ivory_W0QQitemZ330093428232QQihZ014QQcategoryZ11538QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item330093428232} (1st time i've tried to make a link thing so hope it worked. Bet you can get it for a lot less than £90. good luck

derlor · 28/02/2007 19:30

oops obviously i'm not as computer literate as i thought!!! anyway go to ebay and type in isabella oliver and go to almost bottom of search page and you will find your beautiful cardigan currently selling at 99p - not £90!!!!!!!!!!

annobal · 28/02/2007 19:45

Thanks Derlor - have added it to my watch list

Doggus - I'm not sure what the swaddle kit includes but you can swaddle in a blanket or a sheet - as long as it is squarish - you put baby diagonally across, fold up the bottom then bring the 2 sides in - and your LO is as snug as a bug.

That said, I just did a google search and the swaddle blanket that Bump to 3 do (grobag people) looks great and very comfy - I may have to invest.

Daisybump · 28/02/2007 20:11

Hi kids...thanks for the words of support. Feeling a bit better about my lot today, but still confused and angry at H fr his behaviour. spoken to him a couple of times on the phone (thankfully he works away) and he is full of remorse (basically he dragged me up some stairs and into our bedroom and forced me onto the bed because I slammed the bedroom door and stormed off!) I was screaming at him to let go and he wouldn't so I scratched and kicked until he did let go, damaging my ligaments in the process. Dread to think what might have happened. Don't know what's going on with him as this sort of behaviour is completely out of character (I've known him for 11 years and this is the first time anything like this has happened) He's coming home tonight but won't get here till after 10, so don't think it's a good idea to do any talking that late so it'll be tomorrow or Friday before we get the chance to talk properly. Not even sure I want to see him, but have to think of DS. He was downstairs whilst all this was going on and although he hasn't really said anything, his behaviour has been extra clingy this week and he is bursting into tears over the most trivial things. Just been trying to reassure him that we both love him very much and he can talk to me about anything. Meant to be back at work tomorrow, but don't really think my mind will be on the job somehow. Aslo feeling a bit isolated as all of my friends here are the wives of his friends, so don't think talking about it with them is an option and my family are all in Scotland. Mum said I should talk to my MIL as sh lives nearby, but to that idea....not sure she'd believe me.

Sorry such a long post, and thanks again for the words of support.

On a cheerier note...DS was lying with his head on my bump yesterday trying to listen for the baby....and got a swift and hearty bop to the side of his head for his sins. LOL at his wee face....but now he doubly won't leave me alone (been having problems with him inapporpriately undressing me in the supermarket/playground/street/etc to stroke my bump!!) as he wants it to happen again. Bless him

catkin555 · 28/02/2007 20:23

Daisy,

Can you say where you are? Maybe one of us is close enough to meet up for a hug/chat/coffee/whatever you need?

Chin up, sweetie.
