Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Good morning! Lots of questions, so will answer in proper order:

  1. Yes, thank you, am feeing fine. Fainting spell was just short term - if freaky - blip. Will now carry water with me whereever I go.
  2. Fulham robbed? What about Arsenal yesterday? (Okay, wasn't watching too closely, but DH assures me was travesty)
  3. Am still at work, but work for myself so not the same as going into job on tube and having to sit through endless meetings with pie charts. Which is great (lots of flexibility), but means maternity 'leave' for me is going to be about three months at best. Hey ho.
  4. Play was called 'The Last Laugh' with Martin Freeman (the Office) and Trigger from Only Fools and Horses. Was wonderful - really recommend it.
  5. Yes, I think now that it's nearly 12pm, it's officially lunch time, particularly if you were up early.
hollyandalice · 26/02/2007 12:09

Glad you enjoyed the play Marylou. Hope you didn't laugh too much that you wet yourself (I would have done even if it wasn't funny, it only takes a minor chuckle these days for the flood gates to open-oops maybe tmi!!).

I was up at 6.30 and dd is being a nightmare little witch girl. So now I'm going to make some spaghetti on toast for our lunch and go to bed. I'm feeling really stressy today and feel really guilty coz I keep shouting at dd (she is being bad though!).

annobal · 26/02/2007 14:35

Play sounds great. I haven't been to the theatre for ages so must get my act in gear and book something before I am confined to the house again.

We're moving to Adelaide - I'm originally from there and all my family are there - so for me it will be much easier. My parents aren't far from where we have bought so will be definitely called on for quality time with the grandkids . We were originally going mid year but got pg so have postponed for 6 months. I've been here for about 12 years now so it will be very hard to leave London.

I did keep my date with the gym - kids had lunch then a play afterwards while I had lunch and we have had a great day so far. Think it might be cold chicken and veggies for dinner tonight though or I do have some ratatouille I can do with rice - decisions, decisions...

H&A sorry you are having a bad day - I bet you feel a whole lot better after your sleep. If it is any consolation, I burst into tears last week when someone I hardly know asked me how I was

justbeme · 26/02/2007 15:40

Hi all! - Finally went out and got some new bras - Took your advice and opted for cheap and cheerful - Asda sports bra £4 - mind you had to jump up 2 sizes as I think they come up small - but bliss........no more rib pains!!
Went to Ikea yeaterday and bought some nursery furniture - a white wardrobe "Hensvik" and a wall unit which has a changing area in same range. Didnt like Ikeas cots though - they dont have drop down sides and were very small (although cheap).
Also started looking at prams/buggies - the Quinny Buzz IS nice , but my DP wasnt too happy with the price!!!!

mytwocents · 26/02/2007 15:48

Happy monday all !
Annobal pmsl at your boob bumping! I did it on the bus this morning and was half asleep and did'nt notice until ancient man was grinning up at me...eeuww!
I also fainted recently- scary! luckily was near a sofa, freaked DP out more than me, I reckon low bloodsugar to blame..........
Hope you're all well
xxx

mytwocents · 26/02/2007 15:49

Justbeme, show him the bugaboo, everything else looks very reasonable in comparison..............

annobal · 26/02/2007 16:24

Think you may have made his year

marylou23 · 26/02/2007 16:30

Wish i could blame low blood sugar for my fainting fit, but when you're consuming as much chocolate as I am, it's kind of tricky...
Justbeme, you're very brave going to Ikea. THey have great stuff, but every time I go, the one thing I really want turns out not to be in the warehouse (which I only discover after spending four hours walking around the place). Have cried in there without pregnancy hormones - just don't trust myself in current condition!!
The sooner they go online the better...

justbeme · 26/02/2007 16:56

Ikea are online and they have a stock check thing - but its very basic, just says "in stock" - ohh and i thought they'd stopped selling cots as could only find a horrible pink one on there, but there was about 4 in the shop
we parked straight away and paid cash almost straight away - mind you, one of our mirrors smashed just outside the door!! My DP took it back with receipt and I told him to say that the trolley had a bad wheel (it did), but guess wot the cheeky bugger did? He walked back in the shop, asked where the mirrors were, left our broken one on display and took another one and walked out!! The Cheek!!

wigglesmammy · 26/02/2007 23:40

Hi everyone
Finally plucked up the courage to talk after earwigging for 2 weeks. Am expecting baby no 5 on 4th June. Feel like a timebomb at the mo as I was told at 20 wks by my consultant that I could give birth anytime from 26 wks Am 26 wks today and am going to the hospital tomorrow to start steroid injections. I've had 3 prem babies and they were getting earlier, youngest DD was born at 28wks. I'd convinced myself it was because they were all very close together and that an 11 yr gap would have given my overworked uterus plenty of time to recover and I'd go all the way no trouble Apparently it doesn't work like that Don't know what flavour I'm having as the little monkey had its legs closed and refused point blank to open them. Youngest DD wants a sister but would be happy with a brother as long as he was gay! I really don't mind as long as it stays put for at least a few more weeks. Let you know how it goes tomorrow at the hospital

hollyandalice · 27/02/2007 08:35

Welcome wigglesmammy!! What a frightening situation to be in, hope you can hold on for a few more weeks. Wishing you all the best at the hospital. Let us know how you go.

annobal · 27/02/2007 08:53

Hi wigglesmammy and good morning all. Good luck at the hospital - hope it all goes well.

sputnik · 27/02/2007 11:40

Welcome to Wigglesmammy, it must be very nerve-wracking for you, but you'll find we're a supportive bunch (I hope!), so glad you're joining in. Best of luck at the hospital, and take it easy.

Daisybump · 27/02/2007 13:58

Hi wigglesmammy...hope you can manage to hang on in there a bit longer so we can get to know you. Hope your hospital visit goes OK.

Feeling a bit crap atm....things with D(?)H taken a real turn for the worse. He got a bit too physical over the weekend (not in good way ), and I've torn the ligaments in my lower abdomen which feels like a constant painful stitch on the rh side as well as a constant dull ache in the sacro-iliac joint on the right. Got a support belt today which has made things a bit better, but can't sit for too long, then I have to stand and can't do that for very long either. Not sleeping and feeling generally very very shitty.

Even internet shopping has failed to cheered me up ...I nearly bought a Cath Kidston changing bag but feel too mizzy to enjoy it so resorted to some new clobber for DS

kazh2 · 27/02/2007 14:18

Any room for one more in June's Club? I would say ''little one'' but with this bump.........hardly !!
I'm Karen, 38, due 4th June with my 4th. I'm In Nottingham and currently working as a childminder.

sleepychunky · 27/02/2007 14:41

Hi everyone Haven't posted for ages but have had the occasional read so I am more or less up to speed with everyone.

I'm 25+2 now and really looking properly pregnant now. Everyone at work has started commenting on it, and I feel absolutely enormous. I guess it can only get bigger!

Generally feeling fine but have really bad back. At last m/w visit she filled out a physio referral form so I have an appointment in a couple of weeks at the hospital. Don't know if it will do any good but I can't afford to pay an osteopath privately so I'll take anything I can which is free
Not sleeping very well but from reading other posts, that's normal. Just wish I didn't have to get up at 5.20 to go to work. I had an evening do last night and didn't get home till 11.30 - I slept well last night, even if it was only for 5 hours!

Haven't even started looking at buggies/cots yet - we're planning on waiting until the Easter holidays when my mum and dad can come looking with us (they're kindly buying us a buggy/travel system and my inlaws are buying the cot). Feel like I should have got something by now but I still don't want to think that far ahead!

Just realised that none of you probably recognise my name as I haven't posted for ages and I didn't post much anyway. So to anyone who doesn't know me, hello waves I'm expecting no.1 on June 10th and starting to get excited - I've been terrified until now.

Better go now - reading all the posts and writing this one has taken me away from work for too long.

SC

Hi
Thank you for all your messages. Had one lot of steroids next lot tomorrow. Saw another registrar and he was fantastic. He explained everything, brought forward my next growth scan which was to be at 32 wks which he agreed was a bit too far away and arranged a look round the neonatal unit. I was very reassured with the neonatal unit and impressed with the facilities The scan couldn't be done today so I'm on standby for a short notice slot. All in all even though it's all not looking fantastic (not sure if baby's growing properly or just naturally small) I feel they are covering every eventuality and thats very reassuring. Glad I'm not the only one who has to brace themselves for the slightest cough I may have to resort to tena lady as DD suggested very loudly in tescos

Justbeme, I agree with mytwocents. Pretend you've got your heart set on the Bugaboo. If he thinks the buzz is expensive he'll be rendered speechless and may even turn a funny colour by the price of the bugaboo. Act all disappointed but not sulky aim for the martyr look and gaze longingly at the bugaboo in mags and catalogues periodically sighing for a few days Then when he feels guilty enough drop the buzz into conversation but not too enthusiastically. Sort of like you've resigned yourself to the idea of the cheaper buggy. Or make him think the idea was his in the first place
Getting bad heartburn which I've never had before if oldwives tales are right DB will look like cousin it Anybody know of anything apart from tablets or medicine that helps? I wondered about Tescos fresh chocolate milk as it's a bit thicker than normal milk or is that wishful thinking.

hollyandalice · 27/02/2007 14:53

Daisy are you ok? ((((hugs)))) You poor thing. Sounds like a horrible load of stress and pain that you don't need right now. Hope things with your H work out (if you want them to) and hope you get some sleep too. Can the dr not give you any painkillers? Thinking of you xx

sputnik · 27/02/2007 14:55

Sending a huge hug to you Daisybump, hope things get better for you soon.

I'm with you on the lack of sleep, been sleeping really badly, and have had a cold for nearly the last 3 weeks that I can't shake off because of lack of sleep, and not being able to breathe properly keeps me awake so it's a vicious circle. To top it off DD is not sleeping well either, I think she's discovered nightmares - the other night she woke crying "try mummy's tights, try mummy's tights" over and over for about 1/2 an hour, it would've been amusing but she was really distressed. Don't know why, mummy's tights aren't that scary....

hollyandalice · 27/02/2007 14:56

Hi kazh2!! The more the merrier!!

sputnik · 27/02/2007 15:04

Hi, Wigglesmummy, glad you had a reassuring trip to the hospital, do you have to take steriods everyday now?
I find mint tea helps a bit with the heartburn, and pineapple, although I heard pineapple can stimulate labour so you'd probably want to avoid that. I have also started taking aloe juice recently and haven't had heartburn or constipation since taking it, so might be worth a try. You'd probably find it in health food shops, you need the fresh stuff you have to keep in the fridge once opened.

justbeme · 27/02/2007 15:05

Lol at your idea Wigglesmammy!
Daisybump and - thinking of you. You know were here if you want to talk about it. What an awful situation.........

marylou23 · 27/02/2007 16:04

Good afternoon all!
Wigglesmammy and Kazh2, welcome and good luck with everything. Wiggle, they're worried my little one might be a bit premature, too - or, at least, that it might stop growing early, so let's keep our fingers crossed...
Daisybump, really thinking of you and we're here if you need to talk.

annobal · 27/02/2007 16:42

Afternoon/evening all,

I made the huge mistake of weighing myself at the gym today (please note, I did say gym) and I've put on a stone and a half already . This baby better be a big one or I'm in trouble.

Daisybump, I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I hope things get better for you.

Re heartburn - I found the only thing to get rid of it was to avoid wheat and anything fatty, oh and dairy as well (just milk products, not eggs). Sorry - it is boring but does stop that awful waking in the night.

doggus · 27/02/2007 18:15

Daisybump, what a nightmare, sending you positive vibes that things get better quickly....

Welcome kazh2 and wigglesmummy, lovely to have you both on board.

Sleepychunky - I remember your name - I have a bad back too and it is getting worse . I am taking painkillers otherwise I literally wouldn't get out of bed (I had a 'back' before getting pg so it's not just that). Check your posture (I know this is boring advice), mine gets worse when I sit with crossed legs.....

Indigestion - Gaviscon tablets (two at a time) or mailine the liquid. I love pastry, but by God after eating apple pie last week never again.

Finally, question to the ever-fashionable finger on the pulse board - are velour tracksuits ovah? I have a real craving for one but they may be a bit naff now. I think they may look a bit odd on a pg 39 year old, rather like a romper suit, what do you think?
