Think my mum has gone a bit OTT with baby clothes, she hasn't just bought new born or 0-3 months, she has gone all the way to 1 year! wants me and OH to go round so she can give us what she has bought so far! To make room. She is so excited about being a Nana at last.

Carolann8584 · 10/11/2016 14:35

I'm glad OH already has experience with dressing his little boys, although I did watch him struggle once changing a nappy when DS was wearing little dungaree shorts "he knows how to do it!" I pointed out when he had finally finished they had poppers so you didn't have to take them off lol luckily DS was a patient baby.

Happygojo86 · 10/11/2016 21:07

For the ftm, my baby grow tip would be to get ones with poppers down the front. Trying to get a baby grow over your 'fragile' new baby and all the way down to their legs is terrifying.... of course they are not that fragile and you get over it quite quickly but I always grabbed for the popper ones rather than the over the head ones

Doctors said I have spd and referred me for physio and also suggested I take early maternity leave from work but I'm only 22 weeks! Not sure what to do now was hoping not to take it until 30 weeks!

Happygojo86 · 11/11/2016 09:49

Frog what is the sick leave policy. I'd take as much sick as you can beforehand before starting mat leave?

NameChange30 · 11/11/2016 10:15

froglou
Strange advice from your doctor - you can and should take sick leave if you need time off work at this point. You don't have to start your maternity leave early if you don't want to - or at least not until you are 36 weeks pregnant, from which point your employer can ask you to start mat leave early instead of sick leave for pregnancy-related illness.

My doctors are bloody useless! After phoning back and telling them I was misinformed by the doctor I was told to speak to work and make arrangements to see if they can help, part of my job is manual labour so I can't really do anything with regards to that, I phoned back again and explained this to be told they'll ask the doctor about the medical certificate but it now won't be till early next week as too late in the day! Going to have to struggle through work until then or call in sick Angry

Dozygirl · 12/11/2016 09:27

Surely you can self certify for first few days frog?

alphabook · 12/11/2016 10:45

I would call in sick Frog, you can self certify for a week which would give you time to see the GP.

Poor HughLauriesStubble hope you get better soon, was stuck in hospital too last night as I kept on vomiting and got really dehydrated and had to go onto the drip. Feeling alittle better now and was discharged this morning. Think I've caught a stomach bug Blush and stomach is swollen Sad

NameChange30 · 13/11/2016 20:46

Oh no Ashan and Hugh I hope your feeling better soon. I was feeling sorry for myself with a nasty cold and hacking cough. Now it dosent seem so bad. Flowers or possibly more useful Chocolate

I haven't bought anything for baby yet at all. But I might go get some newborn stuff. I didn't have much newborn with DD and it was all hanging off. She was 7lb 4oz and 15 days late. This one will be a couple of weeks early and is measuring small on the scan stuff so I think we may be in for a tiddler that will need some newborn clothes. Hurrah. An excuse to buy! As we had all neutral for DD and don't know what we are having again I should just reuse. Wink

ahsan · 14/11/2016 09:34

Know how you feel huge feeling a lot better today 😊 Slept like four times yesterday just recovering. Let's hope that infections goes quickly and you get home soon huge😊.

Thanks butter I'm finding out babies sex on Friday so will start buying baby clothes after that date, I'm super excited about it. 😁

Glad yours went well Hugh, had mine today as well- but it was asleep. Had to down lucozade and walk around, still couldn't get the head measurements so have to go back next week. We aren't finding out the sex and sonographer said she could turn the screen off, we said no because if we did see anything it was ok. There was no way we were going to be able to spot anything!!

Getting loads of kicks now, which is lovely. Mostly in the early hrs of the morning, which isn't so great.

ahsan · 15/11/2016 20:33

Hahaha HughLauriesStubble hope my little one isn't as cheeky. Waited along time to find out so little one better behave on the day Grin

Butterpuff · 16/11/2016 09:26

Surprises are lovely Hugh.....but then so is finding out. Just having babies is fantastic.

I had two messages from friends yesterday within minutes of each other. One had a healthy baby boy delivered, the other sadly had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. Its so hard for her. I want to help but know there is not a lot I can do.

I'm loving the kicks pumpkin, and my increasingly growing bump. Makes it all feel real. Roll on the next 17 weeks so I can meet baby.

melissacx9 · 16/11/2016 14:46

Hi everyone! Smile

I've not had a chance to read through the full thread yet, but I just wanted to introduce myself - my name's Melissa, I've just turned 22 and I'm due to have my baby boy on March 3rd (currently 24w5d).

I've been an active lurker on mumsnet for a while but for some reason I've only just stumbled across this group Blush!

This is my first pregnancy and I'm really enjoying it so far - I've been feeling flutters since around 18/19weeks, but I've been feeling strong kicks for around 3 weeks now and even managed to get some movement on video earlier on this week (which was a bit strange, but amazing).

This pregnancy was very much a surprise but our baby is very much wanted and loved, and I can't wait to have him - I just wish that I would have found this thread sooner because I always have so many questions!

Butterpuff · 16/11/2016 15:02

welcome Melissa I'm 22 weeks along this time with DC 2 also loving feeling the kicks. Its fantastic isn't it.
