I am actually in the main enjoying my pregnancy. I no longer have to restrict myself to one piece of cake, if I don't want to (within reason!), I can buy new clothes, I have nice skin and hair... for now. It's a worrying time but it's not a bad time.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 06/10/2016 15:28

Ooh also I can get out of things I don't want to do!!!!!

Shellbell0403 · 06/10/2016 16:01

Jellybean is fine 😆😆😆 spinal measurements all good and seen her moving and jumping about xx

ScottishSnowflake · 06/10/2016 16:04

Yay! Good news Shell Smile

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 06/10/2016 16:36

Good news shell.

Are we all done with our scans now? If so, phew! Reason to celebrate! CakeFlowers It seems that everything is where it should be and we're all surviving (just) so all good reasons to be cheerful, even with the aches and pains (that I'm suffering from too)

Just went and bought half of baby m&s in my lunch break. They're now stocking baby stuff in the one near my office which is both handy and a catastrophe for my bank balance!

Has anyone used their baby vests before? Are they soft and good quality? Their "gender neutral" stuff is cute but just not sure if they're soft or not

Evergreen17 · 06/10/2016 16:53

Wispa some of my friends and every time they say it I want to punch them!!!
London good for you. I feel like I make life so much harder for my colleagues now and that I am way too worried to enjoy. Sad
Ahh Ceecee I am avoiding sugar at the moment as I am determined to do my best to prevent this GD business. And of course because I worry too much about everything.
Shell excellent news SmileSmileSmile

twocatsandatoddler · 06/10/2016 17:08

Piano I found M&S and John Lewis the best for vests and sleep suits last time, they weren't the cheapest but washed really well (and you'll wash them a lot!).

Mysterycat23 · 06/10/2016 17:08

Hopefully getting bathroom fitted next week.. it's been 2 years waiting for a plumber to actually show up! Wish I was exaggerating. Going to wait in tomorrow for the bath to arrive Confused divadee agree the dust and constant disarray is hard to take. I will be so relieved when it is all over. There are still little bits to do but having a shower is going to be amazing Grin

inmyeyes · 06/10/2016 18:06

Hello all, I've been lurking for a bit but hope it's ok if I join now. I'm due with my second on February 10 and already have a 2yr old boy. Sonographer at scan last week said it looked like a girl so we'll see.

Nausea is finally going away and energy levels are slowly rising again but just as things are getting better there, my pelvic girdle pain, which I had last time, is getting worse so no rest from the symptoms!

Lovely to hear all your stories over the last while and nice to finally introduce myself!

topmammy · 06/10/2016 18:08

piano not quite done with the scans yet - mine is tomorrow! I'm feeling excited but so nervous too!
DH got a new (used) car today - it's an estate so much bigger boot space which is going to be much needed!
Also have booked my whooping cough and flu jabs today (on separate days!)

Great news with your scans London and Shell Grin

diva you have my sympathies with house decorating/building work... we got our house fully rewired plus a new kitchen fitted when DD was 11 months old. It was an actual building site and so uninhabitable we had to move out for a month!

Anyone got any food cravings? I've been drinking glasses of cold milk like there's no tomorrow and my new thing I just have to eat is toast with butter and marmite on top.

teabagsmummy · 06/10/2016 18:24

Hi a quick question I have been getting really bad hip pain. Could it be pelvic girdle pain I only get it when standing or walking. I have my 22 midwife appointment tomorrow so will ask her then

ScottishSnowflake · 06/10/2016 18:49

Hi and welcome inmyeyes!

Teabagsmummy, I'm getting something similar. Appears and gets quite sharp in my right hip/ lower pelvic area (like a stitch) and stays put whilst I walk/ exercise but goes quickly once I stop. I had my scan about the same time as it started as the sonographer didn't see anything wrong, so hoping its that lower girdle pain.

I still don't have a bump! Just look like I've put weight on. Can't wait to look officially pregnant. I'm 22+4 but at least I'm feeling baby move each day. I weirdly miss it when I don't feel him.

inmyeyes · 06/10/2016 18:55

Teabagsmummy - I found this website good on describing symptoms of and what to do about pgp: www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk

Naschkatze · 06/10/2016 19:02

I've sort of fallen off the thread lately, apologies. Glad to hear of all the good scans.

Piano A little while longer to wait, my scan is on Monday afternoon! I'm very nervous already. I'm feeling bump kick a lot now though which is reassuring.

teabagsmummy · 06/10/2016 20:25

Thanks for that link inmyeyes it does describe the pain I'm getting . I also have r arthritis but seem to off been in remission since I got pregnant

LondonGirl83 · 06/10/2016 21:05

tea I have pelvic girdle pain and what you have is similar. To be honest its a general term that covers a lot. For me, yoga and pilates makes a world of difference. Still, I'm seeing the physio who has given me additional exercises to do on days I don't to either of my classes

Welcome inmyeyes

Congrats shell if I didn't say so already

Scottish up until last week people who didn't know me would say, oh I didn't realise you were pregnant. However, my bump this week has gotten huge. I am now unmistakably pregnant. The fast spurt is what moved my placenta well out of the way just a week between scans.

You'll wake up one morning and won't be able to see your lady bits anymore and you'll know that you officially look pregnant :)

CeeCeeEnnEss · 06/10/2016 21:07

Can I ask a question about the Sleepyhead? We were at a Mothercare event tonight, and the sleep specialist said that they contravene the advice about safe sleeping (because they're a baby nest). Any opinions?

SpinALittleFaster · 06/10/2016 21:17

piano I mostly use M&S plain white vests. They wash well and are really soft. I like their sleepsuits too but they're huge. DD was still wearing 3-6 boys sleepsuits at 8 months despite moving up everywhere else at 6 months.

ScottishSnowflake · 07/10/2016 07:01

Thanks London! I'm carrying low so hopefully bump moving will coincide with baby moving up too!

Not long left now until all the scans are done Smile good luck to those waiting, it's a drag. Sadly no more scans for me now too, so I've just got to be patient until little one decides to make an appearance!

twocatsandatoddler · 07/10/2016 07:13

I had an extra scan yesterday to check growth and placental function because of low PAPP-A. All looks fine, and I'm considered at low risk of developing any complications from the PAPP-A now which is great. I get another scan at 34 weeks to check growth is still on track, and if it is then I'll remain under midwife care. So many trips up to the hospital this time round - I'm going to be very sick of the M11 before the baby arrives!

LondonGirl83 · 07/10/2016 07:55

twocats that's great news

Is anyone planning to do a Doppler scan at 32 weeks?

twocatsandatoddler · 07/10/2016 08:09

London I might. The consultant I saw yesterday said my 34 week scan is a routine growth one only, so won't include a Doppler to check placenta. So I'm tempted to get one done privately.

Bisquick · 07/10/2016 08:53

twocats which weeks did they schedule your follow-up growth scans for? I have low PAPP-A too and my hospital said they would like to scan me again at 28 and 32 weeks. But don't know exactly what those scans will involve.

I am tempted to get a private scan at 32 but I think I'll wait to see first what these scans are like - only because I keep getting messed around with by the hospital.

Don't want to rant again, because it's boring and what's the point, but have had more issues with midwives appointments being cancelled and being impossible to get through to the right admin person etc. But I've heard similar stories about every north London hospital, and the midwives on the helpline (who I speak to because I often get mistakenly transferred to their emergency line) all seem so helpful and competent on the phone. Also spoke to my GP about my concerns and she said it's a common issue, but that people will be professional when it comes to the birth.

So, basically, just planning to lower my expectations and keep fingers crossed that should any complications arise they do seem like they'll be responsive!

Are people planning to have baby showers and baby registries? I'm not sure if that's a common thing here, and we're the first in our group of friends to have a baby so trying to figure out what to do! Any ideas / suggestions?

twocatsandatoddler · 07/10/2016 09:06

bisquick I had my first follow up scan at 23 weeks yesterday, I think so they could compare measurements between 20 weeks and 23 weeks, and then a growth scan at 34 weeks. But I think that's because my hospital (Cambridge) has 34 weeks as standard for their growth scans - some have 32 weeks as I had one last time at 32 weeks in a different hospital. If things hadn't looked normal yesterday then I'd have been offered more scans with the consultant in the fetal medicine unit to monitor things, but since it all looks fine then the growth scan I have is just a routine one in the normal ultrasound dept.

Actually just realised I'll be 34 weeks over Christmas so the timing of that could be interesting! We're away for a few days, and I imagine they won't scan on bank holidays so I guess I'll just have to wait and see when they can do!

gumbootsandjandals · 07/10/2016 10:15

CeeCee I firmly believe the Sleepyhead is not as safe a sleep surface as a regular moses basket/bassinet/cot. The sides are a thick, supposedly breathable foam. How can that possibly allow as much air circulation as a regular sleep surface? Plus, babies can roll from newborn. A baby with its face right up to the foam would have the same if not more chance of asphyxiation as a face in a cot bumper. I'm pretty sure we all understand that cot bumpers are unsafe? Just my 2 cents anyway.
