Hi piano,
When is your next midwife appointment?
If it's soon just ask at that appointment of its a while away just give her a call and they should sort it for you.

I'm sorry for your colleagues shell.

I've had to book an appointment for the midwife for a couple of weeks time.
I had consultants today and my blood pressure is up and something showing in my urine, this happened just before my boy was born last year so they want to keep an eye on it.

Welcome neo!

For those of you like me who have been screwed out of the 'blooming' pregnancy stage.

Due February 2017 - Thread 8!
Bisquick · 04/10/2016 19:46

I asked about the MatB1 form at my surgery this morning and they said the powers that be will only sign it off 14 weeks before the due date. So I will have to go back at 26 weeks to fill out my portion of it and then my GP will sign it and so on. I was surprised because we have to let work know 15 weeks before going on mat leave (which may well be a week or so before due date) but the lady at GP reception took a photocopy of the form for me to show work if they get fussy. She said lots of MatB1 forms were coming back because of this issue of being too early.

I've waited Monday and Tuesday for the ultrasound scanning unit to call me back and schedule the rescan. Tried calling them this evening, but got put through to the emergency midwife, the community midwife, the main hospital switchboard and finally hung up on over 5 different attempts. I have now emailed them, otherwise might try to pop by at lunchtime or so on Thursday and hover over them until they just respond. I don't even want the rescan anymore but just want to be booked in for the next two scans which they previously refused to do until the rescan was booked. Egads!

But, after the disappointing initial scan on Friday, DH booked us in for a private scan today, and all looking good! And we got to have a nice long look and the sonographer was so lovely as well. So feeling happy about that! We're also meeting a few doulas this week to see if we click. I think having had a few underwhelming experiences with our hospital I'll probably just feel more confident having a doula along.

Good luck for all your scans this week ladies!

And Shell I'm so sorry to hear about your second colleague. That sucks. But it is statistically very very rare - so hard as it is please try to put it out of your mind.

LondonGirl83 · 04/10/2016 20:28

shell I love yoga, definitely do it. I just finished pregnancy pilates and it such a great way to destress and the camaraderie with other pregnant ladies is great. My whole heart aches for you colleague. Complications during birth as a way to lose a baby is unthinkable. Its the last hurdle and for the medical staff not to rush and give her an emergency c-section suggests that something went very wrong with the monitoring of distress.

Diva I would sell my most prized possessions to have a poo! I daren't admit how long its been but I'm getting desperate. However, I don't want to become dependant on laxatives :(

As suspected work has become insanely busy hence hardly any posts this week. I have to get on a call in 5 minutes... Still its meant I haven't had anytime to think about the fact my scan and vaccines are tomorrow

SBSparkles · 04/10/2016 20:56

Diva lol love the pic!! I still don't look very big and no one has noticed apart from people ive told!! Maternity appointment tomorrow. I've been shouting at my class a lot today and baby has been quiet. Now I'm more relaxed he's blobing about in there again! I bet his thinks mummy is really mean!! Smile

Evergreen17 · 04/10/2016 22:03

Piano I am really hoping my midwife gives me the form at our 25th weeks appointment because I need to give it to my employer no later than then.
Ahh Bis great news about the private scan (pretty bad how they managed the other one) and about doulas. Jealous Smile
Sparkles Grin at shouting at the class. I had a terrible group today and I kept reminding myself my bubba could be one of them in 10 years Confused

sleepyMe12 · 04/10/2016 22:25

london have a look at lepicol. I take the capsules everyday (can't go without) they are safe during pregnancy aswell.

Newmummy2017 · 04/10/2016 22:34

Hi Everyone,

I hope you don't mind me joining at the half way stage. I have been a long time lurker but only just taken the plunge to join mumsnet and make my very first post!

I am due 28th Feb with my first. So excited and have my 20 week scan booked in for next Wednesday.

My understanding is you don't have to give the mat B form in by 25 weeks aslong as you have put you pregnancy in writing with expected due date to HR and line manager and then send over your Mat B when it is available. Looking forward to catching up with you more in the future!

LunaPatuna · 04/10/2016 22:48

I got my MatB1 at my 21 week midwife appointment Piano , hope you get yours soon.

LondonGirl83 · 04/10/2016 23:21

NewMummy that's right. The gov't legislation is clear. You only need the MatB1 when stating you will claim maternity pay (rather than leave) and the deadline for that is closer to birth.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 05/10/2016 06:38

Anyone up? I had my jabs on Monday evening and am getting worried that I haven't felt the baby move much since then. Just had iced water and cold tropical juice so hoping that moves it into action, but is it normal at 22 weeks to stop being able to feel it for a day or so? It had been mega active all weekend so I'm thrown.

divadee · 05/10/2016 08:07

Morning ceecee I had this a couple of weeks ago. She had been so active and then nothing for a couple of days. It's all back to normal now though. The midwives don't worry about movement till at least 24 weeks I think. But give them a call if you are really worried.

Shellbell0403 · 05/10/2016 08:08

ceecee if in doubt call the midwife/hospital... Iv still not really felt anything so can't really help there but give them a wee call xx

FriendlyGhost · 05/10/2016 08:16

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about CeeCee. As Diva said the midwives aren't concerned until 24 weeks but if you are then give them a call. The baby still has a lot of space at this point so has probably just got itself into a tricky position kicking your back rather than your front. It also may be moving around at night when you can't sleep. Do call if you're worried though-that's what they're there for.

ScottishSnowflake · 05/10/2016 08:20

I'd definitely call CeeCee - whilst I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, it's more important that you're happy that little one is ok and midwives would always rather check than not Smile

Evergreen17 · 05/10/2016 08:38

Ceecee I dont feel my baby lits and I am 21 weeks. I think we count kicks from 24?

Evergreen17 · 05/10/2016 08:39

Lots not lits

LondonGirl83 · 05/10/2016 09:06

sleepy thanks for the lapicol recommendation

ceecee I don't think there is anything to worry about but there is no harm ringing the midwives

My scan is this afternoon!

kikisdelivery · 05/10/2016 09:09

ceecee I've been the same since yesterday and as I'm abroad I don't know what to do Sad

I have started to feel relatively regular movement which just slowed and got quieter yesterday afternoon. I soju know whether to phone U.K. Midwives or just try relaxing and seeing how it does. I'm only 22 weeks.

For what it's worth I reckon you should call if you're worried, I'm just hoping the bub is in a strange position or something. I really wish I was at home now.

kikisdelivery · 05/10/2016 09:09

Don't, not soju...!

divadee · 05/10/2016 09:52

Have you tried a cold drink and laying on your left side kikis? Is it hot where you are? Maybe the heat has changed movements if it is hot.

I would call uk midwives if you are really worried. But sure bubs is asleep and curled in a different position but call and see what they say.

LondonGirl83 · 05/10/2016 10:01

Had my shots - hurt more than I thought it would but overall has been fine

kikisdelivery · 05/10/2016 10:16

diva I've since felt tiny movements after getting a shower and being pathetic and sobbing like an idiot. I didn't think maybe the heat and lots of exercise (we have walked loads each day) might have made him sleepier than usual.

I'll monitor a bit more and will see how it goes. I think I'd got myself really stressed and worked up.

divadee · 05/10/2016 10:28

The walking could do it kikis I don't tend to notice movement much when I'm up and about and walking around. Only when I'm sat or laying down. You have probably been distracted by being on holiday and not noticing it as much. If you were to sit quietly for a couple of hours you would no doubt feel more.

LondonGirl83 · 05/10/2016 10:30

Yeah, I only feel movement when I'm sat on the couch on my laptop. Mostly in the evenings as well. Sometimes I worry myself during the day as I don't feel much if anything but then she gets going later on.
