Mystery lovely hoodie!!!
Thank you everyone!!
I am super happy and DH is excited too!!! I think he secretly wanted a boy Smile
The scanning expert said that my placenta was a bit low and that it will probably move up but they booked me for a scan at 36 weeks Smile

Mysterycat23 · 30/09/2016 15:33

Congrats Ever!

Mysterycat23 · 30/09/2016 15:37

Thanks kiki and ever thinking up what to make next.. switching to cross stitch for now, saw a cute fox for a friend's birthday :)

Evergreen17 · 30/09/2016 15:41

Ahhh cross stitch Smile

Ladies word of advice. Dont post questions on other threads / start a thread thinking people will be as nice as they are here Sad

Already upset and regretting it

Shellbell0403 · 30/09/2016 15:45

Why what's happened ever

Ragdollmum1985 · 30/09/2016 16:00

Congrats ever 💙

GinIsIn · 30/09/2016 16:02

Oh ever, there are horrible people everywhere including on MN, but there are nice ones too! Don't worry about it! Flowers

LondonGirl83 · 30/09/2016 16:03

Oh no ever! What did you ask?

I think a lot of mumsnet is pretty rude and aggressive so I'm not surprised.

sleepyMe12 · 30/09/2016 16:04

ever I came across your other thread, can I ask if there isn't family history etc why they have booked a gtt?
You can definitely refuse the test tbh it's not very nice waiting around.
I do it coz I seem to have huge babies.

Evergreen17 · 30/09/2016 16:21

Sleepy it just rang a bell when the other midwife said "why did she write this here?" You have no reason to have this Sad

Evergreen17 · 30/09/2016 16:22

I dont know why Sad

Evergreen17 · 30/09/2016 16:27

London so basically I worried that my booking midwife (you might remember she took the wrong bloods and then lost my results) made a mistake when she add to my notes that I need a GTT.
I have no risk factors.
Then I went to see a birthing centre that was lovely and they said they only take low risk so I said great!
But then a friend said that the GTT gives lots of false positives (this is someone that works in birth options, someone that knows) and she sent me documents to inform myself.
So I started a thread asking if someone had refused the test or had the test and moved to high risk or stayed low risk.

And some people Sad

I asked please be kind because I suffer from anxiety. This is social anxiety and I am all cleared by GP by the way and not even on my notes.

This mean woman Sad

Evergreen17 · 30/09/2016 16:30

She said that my anxiety was not a reason not to do the test or something Hmm then This:
"You said you had anxiety and it appears to be impacting on your decisions about your pregnancy, so I'm not sure why you would think it's so outrageous to suggest talking to a mental health midwife. MN really isn't the kind of forum where people will just pat you on the head and tell you what you want to hear."

I mean excuse me????!!!! Someone says they have anxiety and you attack like that?! Saying that it is affecting my pregnancy decisions?! As if because I have MH history I am not doing what is best for my baby?
Sad
I told her she was condescending and mean

Shellbell0403 · 30/09/2016 16:39

ever do you have pcos? Xx

LondonGirl83 · 30/09/2016 16:46

Ever sorry to hear that.

At my trust, they are planning to start doing the GTT for everyone at 28 weeks whether you have risk factors or not. I wasn't booked in but I understand this will soon be the norm. You tend to be referred if you are overweight or have a history of diabetes in your immediate family or if you've had large babies before.

Why don't you ask your birth center if they accept women who've had a positive? From what I understand, the main risk is having a large baby and therefore a more complex birth. If you had a positive result (whether false or otherwise) ask your midwife if your baby later measures within the normal range on your growth scans, will they put your risk back down to low.

Once you know how your specific trust / birth center operate, then you can decide what you want to do. However, I wouldn't refuse the test without understanding the full picture, particularly why you were referred as ultimately it might be something that helps you and baby have a safer birth :)

Lala6971 · 30/09/2016 16:47

Congrats on the boy ever I wouldn't worry about the gtt. I had risk factors such as high bmi and pcos but mine has just come back fine yesterday. I had it done early cos the mean sonographer at my 20 week scan kind of looked at me and the at baby and in not as many words said you are fat and so is baby, book in for an early gtt. Anyway my midwife told me it was rubbish when I rang to book it but sent me anyway as I was worried I was hurting bubs, all came back fine. And at my rescan this week my little mouse was measuring spot on for her dates!

Bisquick · 30/09/2016 17:06

Hello! Can someone please tell me if I'm being unreasonable or not? I'm totally aware that I'm probably being hormonal and expecting too much.

Had our 20 week scan today, and it lasted about 15-20 minutes. Baby is fine, I think. I could barely understand the operator because she was mumbling and she wouldn't let us see the screen. Said she will zoom out later and show us the baby and print out pictures but she just forgot at the end. (And I know it's not done for fun, so didn't want to fuss about it).

Baby was in odd position so she couldn't measure the face or heart valves and she said she doesn't have time for me to walk around or try moving so I should come back for a scan next week and sent me on my way. Except reception said there are no appointments so they'll let me know next week if they can try to fit me in.

I get that the NHS is underfunded and staff are stressed and I'm trying to be as empathetic as possible, but why do they not see that I might be worried about my baby and want some comfort that all is well etc?

Bleargh. I fully expect people to tell me this is typical and I'm being hormonal, sorry for ranting. :(

sleepyMe12 · 30/09/2016 17:13

ever speak to your midwife and if they can't see any reason for the gtt then refuse.
Ignore everyone saying "it's only a test etc"

bis that does sound annoying I'd give them a call Monday and see if they have had any cancellations Flowers

ScottishSnowflake · 30/09/2016 17:36

Bis, my scan at 20w also didn't go to plan as my little one refused to let us get a look at his heart. However today (2w later), we've been able to see a lovely clear pic and have been told nothing to worry about. So sorry your sonographers haven't been the best. I think I've been lucky so far.

Evergreen, many congrats on your little boy!! You were right Smile Sorry MN isn't treating you well on your other thread, hopefully what other posters have said here will help.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 30/09/2016 17:45

I'm sorry bis I know how you feel. It's a shame the sonographers can all be so different. My first two scans were private ones at 7 and 11 weeks and the people couldn't have had more time (obviously as they were being paid!) while the 12 week NHS woman was lovely and chatty though seemed a bit harassed but we could take pics and she spent time telling us about what she was doing. This time we had a doc who I think was quite senior, plus two other people in the room and we didn't even get to see the face at all. I was quite upset about it too.

You build up so much expectation and other people have good experiences, there is just too much variation. I suppose babies can be difficult but mine had apparently moved to a better position by the end but he still didn't go back to show us it's face. Was generally a very flat experience. We don't want to know the gender so would be a bit odd to go for another private "gender scan" to not find out. Oh well, I suppose it's just meant to be a medical check up and anything else is a bonus Hmm

FriendlyGhost · 30/09/2016 17:52

Sorry some people have been rude Evergreen. It's amazing that when you specifically said what you wanted the first two posters completely ignored you! In answer to your question I think the best course of action would be to discuss it with your midwife at your next appointment. If you've been marked as needing the gtt unnecessarily then there's no reason to have it. I don't know about your hospital but for my last birth which was at a neighbouring trust the rules were that you could have a low risk birth as long as there weren't any major risk factors. I think you were allowed about 3 smaller risk factors and could still use the birthing suite. I think if you keep your sugars under control (if you are positive) it shouldn't be a major issue. I know when I was admitted to have dd they went through my risk factors. I had two which meant that I could use the birthing suite but one which cropped up on the day which meant they preferred me to be on the main ward.
Bis that's rubbish. Sorry you didn't have a good experience. I think they have to offer you one more scan but don't have to offer you any more after that if the baby's still misbehaving. If I was you I'd ring on Monday and hopefully speak to someone different!

SBSparkles · 30/09/2016 17:59

What's a GTT? X

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 30/09/2016 18:09

Oh and congrats on the little boy ever he's going to look super cute in his lovely green jumper!

Sorry about the GTT experiences and the MN meanies, I guess we're all in our happy bubble here but the outside world is full of people going through different things but doesn't give them reason to make nasty comments. I hope you can ignore and realise they are in the minority. We're all on your side!

Bisquick · 30/09/2016 18:15

Thanks for the kind words ladies! I was feeling a bit rubbish and wondering if I was just being unreasonable. I'll call on Monday and hopefully get a new appointment for the rescan! We weren't fussed about seeing the baby or pics - just wanted to know if all is as it should be and were disappointed to be bundled out so quickly without any effort being made to get him to move + later being told there are no spots next week.

Anyway! Hope everyone has a good weekend ahead! Also I think scan has woken him up a bit since I'm starting to feel some movements!
