Thanks for the childcare tips Luchi I've been panicking about what to do. Decided to go back to work 4 days and week and thinking nursery 2 days and my parents have said they will do 2 days without me even asking!! Just need to figure out how long I can afford to have off. So far it's looking like 6 months but I want more!! Just don't know how we can cope on one salary.

Amazing scans everyone! So happy for you all

naranciata · 21/09/2016 17:44

Thanks mummySN - it's actually been ok since then. I have been downing Corsodyl like vodka though! I was on Amoxicillin which helped with the infection, I think. Unfortunately I haven't had the right x-rays since I was a teenager so not sure I would be able to have it removed if it flares up again.

naranciata · 21/09/2016 17:47

And thanks for the childcare advice. Didn't know that au pairs shouldn't be alone with very young babies. Lots of the nurseries near me don't allow drop offs before 8am which could be an issue, unsure if a childminder would be different. Hmmm.

LuchiMangsho · 21/09/2016 18:05

Basically au pairs are untrained so they are just 20 year olds who are over for a gap year or whatever. My childminder is OFSTED registered, has done first aid training and so on.
If you can get parental help then that's great. Parents and in laws live 10 hours away by flight so that's not an option for us! Decent childcare is SUCH a relief. I totally rely on my CM- if she says that DS looks peaky then I trust her judgement. She also spoils him more than I do. 🙄🙄

LotsaTuddles · 21/09/2016 19:07

Ha Chat. I debated it so I'd know what day I'd have the baby, but I don't think I could do the 6 weeks recovery and no driving.

Dh will only get 2 weeks max off, and while we have other family around, they all work and wouldn't be able to the school runs and SiL would struggle if I didn't do Tuesdays and Fridays - would 100% have the drive - no way ds could walk that far let alone me haha

MonkeyArms · 21/09/2016 19:22

I lost youuuuuuuuuuuuu! Checking back in. Glad for the people who are feeling better. Had my 12 week scan but now waiting for 2 weeks for blood screening results for downs etc which feels like ages.

Celen · 21/09/2016 19:29

It might not be 6 weeks Lotsa - after my emcs I was driving by 4 weeks no problem x

Lovely pic too Stilla Smile

MrsRhubarb · 21/09/2016 19:32

Not off to a great start with the ondansetron, which is slightly gutting. I was sick within an hour of having it yesterday, and it takes 1-2 hours to work so that wasn't great. It has stopped my nausea for nearly all of today (though it has started to creep back in as I get closer to the next dose) and everything I've eaten since breakfast has returned. I have been able to drink a lot more though, which is great. I'm only on the lowest dose, so I can increase it but I'll give it one more day.

Niks DD wants a sister, but I don't think she really knows what the difference is. We've been thinking of names as we used the only girls name we both agreed on last time, so if this is DD2 then we're in trouble. We're both agreed on a couple of options for a boy, so no issue there. Of course DH keeps teasing me that it's twins because of the bad sickness, so if it's twin girls then we're doomed! Though I suppose we could each name one Grin

Hooray for scan pics Skittles, Celen and Chocaholic. I'm pleased yours went well too Scandi

I'm pretty lucky with work as they have been very flexible with me, and I currently do twilight shifts which means we don't need any childcare as DH is home when I'm at work and vice versa. Plus I get to spend all day with DD, and we can go out and do stuff with DH on his days off even if I'm at work in the evening. The downside is that it's a rubbish, very low paid job. There are some bits I enjoy, but it's very poorly managed causing a lot of stress and tension among staff. I don't plan on returning after mat leave.

Celen · 21/09/2016 19:34

Is it two weeks MonkeyArms?! Seems so long! I won't be telling anyone till I get mine through. Although I think if it's high risk, you are informed sooner?

Prive120 · 21/09/2016 19:54

Place making

Gorgeous scan pics! Keep them coming

Bubbinsmakesthree · 21/09/2016 20:07

Lovely to see more scans today, hurrah!

I think the wait for blood results varies Celen - ours does it same day, which is amazing. So worried as we were v high risk last time, and I'm three years older now which can't help.

gemsbok · 21/09/2016 20:34

Oh wow! Look at all the amazing scan pics. This is getting very real now ladies!

My scan is tomorrow - feels like I've been waiting forever, I just want to see a little heartbeat and that there's definitely something in there, and I've not just been over indulging in the milky bars.

I want to wait till we get the scan results before blabbing, but I am huge already, and been in mat clothes for weeks. I'm sure most of my work colleagues have guessed. I think here they let you know within a couple of days if it's high risk, so I'll try and hold out for that if I can.

DS is in nursery - I went down to part time 3 days a week, which works very well for us, I find it a nice balance. He is at my parents 1 day, and nursery 2 days. We weighed up the options, and both preferred the nursery setting.

gemsbok · 21/09/2016 21:13

Oh and just to have a quick moan!...

These sodding headaches are every day, all consuming. I think they might be migraines. I've booked a gp appt to see if there's anything I can do / take. I've also contacted an acupuncture place near me, but it would be very expensive - does anyone have any experience?

ecofreckle · 21/09/2016 21:43

Sorry lotsa.....I lose track of who is who on here as it's so busy so I lost sight of your c section and complications. I can imagine home birth being a terrible prospect! When you tell your school mum friends as soon as any of them offer help jump on them and set up a system of people to help with drop offs and pick ups when the need arises during labour? Everyone loves helping a labouring or new mum surely!

Helbelle75 · 21/09/2016 21:50

I had acupuncture a few years ago for tension headaches gems. They have completely gone. It was expensive but worth it.

MonkeyArms · 21/09/2016 21:55

celen they said that it would take up to 2 weeks to get a letter or that they would call if it was bad news. I would much rather being with someone when I heard if it is bad news. I work away from home and the last thing I need would be to find out when I'm away from my support network! And although I don't normally answer numbers I don't know, I am currently leaping on the super stressed which means a lot of no win no fee companies are getting very short shrift...

Esker · 21/09/2016 22:03

MummySN I am at the Royal Free!

I've had lots of contact with antenatal so far as I have type 1 diabetes so have to go to lots of clinics... So far so good. I love my midwife too.

Having said that, I wouldn't recommend RF at all if you plan on driving... They have very limited parking (tiny awful underground car park). It's very easily accessible on Northern Line and Overground though, so if you're in London for work anyway it should be fine.

Apparently the post natal ward has a nice view of Hampstead Heath! (although I expect we'll all be too zonked out/ busy trying to get baby feeding to actually notice or enjoy the view Hmm)

everdene · 21/09/2016 22:38

Skittles I have had my hair dyed (at 6 weeks) as it needed it and I have to be neat for work. I just did a patch test and my stylist kept the door and window open for ventilation.

mummySN · 21/09/2016 23:05

Thanks esker! I think most hospitals are notoriously awful regards parking...am 10+4 and first midwife apt local to me on Sunday (my birthday!) but convenient and no time off work needed! Not told work yet and major issues on that front regards working for NHS and grumpy men in my specialty (think they consider child bearing a weakness....like they arrived from thin air!rant over!)
I guess any hospital will have mixed reviews just hoping I get a nice feeling from RF!
Btw anyone else feeling very cold?unusually cold!?

MumiTravels · 22/09/2016 01:37

Found you Blush

I'm on the night train. Second of three now.

My DS is struggling big time with my shifts at the moment. He had a meltdown when i tried to go to bed this morning. Same afer nursery. He was beside himself. He's starting to realise that I'm not there now. He woke twice last night apparently shouting for Mummy. It's heartbreaking.

Home for three days though after this so hoping he makes friends with me again after.

Sad

Pregnancy wise I'm Feeling good. Just a bit err. feisty.

summerskittles91 · 22/09/2016 08:58

Lovely scan pics Chocoholic and Celen

gemsbok you could consider acupuncture? I've given it a go for sickness and it's slightly helped, a lot of people said it works for headaches too.

MrsRhubarb I hope the tablets start working better for you? How far along are you? I'm hoping by week 14 it just eases anyway. Who knows!

LotsaTuddles · 22/09/2016 09:19

I haven't made any school mum friends at ds' nursery. But I have a friend at nieces school who would help with their school runs.

She is also SiLs friend and asked her if I am pregnant the other day. I'm huge. It's completely unhideable even baggy clothes show it Blush

But I'm a SAHM so I don't really need to hide it

This was the other morning, so by the afternoon school run I'm MASSIVE

Puggleface · 22/09/2016 09:42

Morning ladies! Good luck for scans today! Smile

That's quite impressive lotsa! My boobs suddenly got massive and I'm feeling quite accidently booby in my dress today! Will have to fish out the old maternity bras at the weekend I think!

10+6 here today and all my symptoms have suddenly disappeared, it's like the boobs came and everything else went... Why is it so nerve wracking feeling better? I'm sure last time I didn't feel better till about 13 weeks.

MrsRhubarb · 22/09/2016 09:54

Thanks Skittles, I'm 11+4 so praying not long to have to deal with it now. Fingers crossed for a better day today.

The maternity wing at my local hospital has a tiny car park that you have to pay in advance for. Difficult as when you arrive who knows how long you'll need to be parked there for! The main hospital car park is about 150 yards down the road, and you pay on exit, so we parked there and walked up. I just remember walking along, breathing through contractions and DH asking if I could go any faster. He swears it was a joke! I'm quite sure that walk is what really got everything going as I was 7cm by the time I got to the mat wing and DD was born an hour later.

choccybiscuit · 22/09/2016 10:05

Beautiful scan pictures ladies! Can't believe that we're approaching second trimesters already.
