Still sensible, you're looking out for/thinking about your little one Smile

becciandbump · 07/09/2016 21:19

Exactly I can't get to garage before sat afternoon so hope he's right and it's fine but Id rather not take any risks

DartmoorDoughnut · 08/09/2016 06:51

tinkly I didn't go back to work after DS was born - 2 years ago today sob - and I felt awkward as hell at first, I've worked since I was 18 and was 32 when he was born. So glad I didn't go back though, it's been a hell of a learning curve but I've bloody loved the last 2 years, far more than anything else I've ever done.

Think someone mentioned the lucozade/GTT? I'm having it this time as DS was large which can be an indicator - he wasn't that large only 9lb4oz and was as overdue as you can go so just well cooked! - in any case I decided not to argue the point as they do that 'don't you want the best for your baby' horrified bullshit look Grin

Agree with those of you finding it hard to suddenly be so dependent on DH. Having always earned my own money and had my own active social life I think it's going to take some adjusting.

Random question but does anyone else have a curvical polyp? Mine is still bleeding and as I'm over 27 weeks it's getting a bit worrying.

BristolLFR · 08/09/2016 08:05

Is anyone looking at getting fit to fly notes?

I need to fly up to edinburgh on the 19th and then to Rome on the 24th. How far in advance can I get one? And how long do they last?

19th is a Monday so needs to be the week before really, but worried that they will be too long before the Rome flight and I don't want to be banned from getting on that one!

All the easyjet site says is that you need one, and their customer service isn't responding.

Popskipiekin · 08/09/2016 08:07

I'm the main earner currently although DH is retraining so we hope it will balance out. But, even though I'm earning ok, childcare for two where we live plus travel will take the entirety of my net salary so it would make sense for DH to be SAHD - but we both worry he would never catch up in his new field. I think we'll just have to scrimp for a couple of years as an investment in both our careers long-term... I'm hoping to maybe drop to 4 days a week as I'm finding 5 long days away from DS really tough, but I don't think it would wash with my current employer.

These work/childcare decisions are so hard :( And everyone questions what you do ("Ohh, you must find it so hard being away from DS! Don't you think you're missing out?" etc etc). I try just to be happy with the decision we've made and tell myself it's not written in stone. But I'm so much looking forward to mat leave and a chance to spend more time with DS1. I worry I won't want to go back after...

Bristol oh I love Edinburgh! Where I was brought up Smile

British airways say the following: "After 28 weeks you must carry a confirmation from your doctor or midwife, such as a letter or certificate, in addition to your pregnancy record. This should be written within 7-10 days prior to travel and confirm your approximate due date, that you're fit to travel and that there are no complications with your pregnancy."

So I know easyjet might be different/stricter but it should hopefully be ok to get it done the Friday before you go. Maybe you could chat to check in or stewards regarding the Rome flight when you're travelling to Edinburgh - see if you'd need to go to a drop-in to get an update?

stripeyorangesocks71 · 08/09/2016 09:24

GTT first bloods taken let the two hour wait commence....!

Thisisbonkers · 08/09/2016 09:35

Had a bit of 'lack of wriggling' worry yesterday and today. Triage/midwife happy that I've felt something (and tummy seems to be 'gurgling' away now) so I'm not going for further tests today unless I get more worried, plus I have midwife tomorrow. But ugh. I don't like the wriggling but like it less when it's not doing enough!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 08/09/2016 11:02

So had my midwife appointment between my two GTT blood tests and she's said I'm measuring big for how far along I am.. It's worried me Sad I don't know how much bigger I am compared to what's 'normal', but I went from having no bump and feeling podgy to full on bump in 2/3 weeks recently. Everything else seems ok (urine check and blood pressure), but just worried and feel awful now!

BristolLFR · 08/09/2016 11:38

That's a good idea pop

Its only for a day unfortunately, would be lovely to have a potter, I really like Edinburgh

SolomanDaisy · 08/09/2016 11:50

stripey, I wouldn't worry too much about measuring ahead. I always measured two weeks ahead with DS and he was quite big, but there weren't any problems for either of us and it was a nice easy birth.

bonkers, I hope the baby wriggles more today! Do you think it might just be a new position?

Had a midwife appointment this morning and I don't have gestational diabetes, phew. From her prodding of my stomach she also thinks the baby is growing fine, which is great!

And I went into town afterwards and I've finished shopping for sinterklaas (Dutch Santa type thing, who comes on 5th Devember, 3 days after my due date)!

Thisisbonkers · 08/09/2016 13:12

stripey my tummy burst all of a sudden. Went from nothing to huge!

Thanks solomon. I never thought about a new position!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 08/09/2016 13:42

Thanks guys, just needed a bit of reassurance really! Baby's heartbeat was good and healthy the midwife said, just the bump measuring on the big side. I have another appointment in a couple of weeks to discuss he GTT results and for another bump measurement. If I'm still showing as big then I'll be getting a growth scan. Suppose it's just to check everything is ok but it got me worried!

duxb · 08/09/2016 13:53

I'm measuring five weeks ahead and midwife said nothing. I assume they will measure again at 31 weeks and possibly have a growth scan.

My placenta is anterior but still, it shocked me. I've only put on 7 pounds!

OrianaBanana · 08/09/2016 15:04

My midwife last time only noticed my bump was on the big side a few weeks before I gave birth (she was a bit crap though) and said he might be around 9lbs. I'd had two scans in later pregnancy that didn't flag anything abnormal about his size. He was 10lbs 6. However, I think measurements are notoriously tricky and can be wrong either way - plus a bigger baby doesn't necessarily mean a harder birth. So I'm told.

Nojo82 · 08/09/2016 18:13

With my 2nd I was told a week before due date he was 7lb so I thought that's good. Due date he was 7lb 10. They came the blow, 5 days over they told me he weighed 10lb 5oz. She panicked me saying that scanner normally weighs them smaller than they are. Given a sweep and told to come in nxt day for induction. Thankfully the sweep worked. And yes he was 10lb 6oz.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 08/09/2016 18:39

The baby's position can change the size of the bump, so try not to worry.

I have just received my growth scan dates and it scares me how quickly the time is flying by I'm 26weeks where have they gone.

Picked up the cot today and it's beautiful but bigger then expected not sure where it's going to go. Oh well a chance to have a change round.

MrsJoJo · 08/09/2016 19:29

I got measured by a junior Dr when I saw the consultant on Tuesday. First she measured me as 35wks (I was 28+1) - I know I'm big but Shock then the consultant told her that I wasn't lying down flat enough and, sure enough, my measurements were OK!

My GTT last week was all ok too... Referred because DS was 8lb15oz and then baby had a big tummy at 20 wk scan.
Even though I've got a huge bump, the midwife told me to eat more as I had keatones in my urine - guess it really is all baby and I just bake big ones lol!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 08/09/2016 22:39

Thanks everyone! I know everyone is different and has different bump sizes, it's all brand new to me and I know I was a big baby so got me thinking all sorts. Just hope the little one is alright in there!

Have you gone for a wooden cot or one of the co sleeper type ones to begin with? We have bought a chicco next2me crib and I'm not sure how that's going to fit in our bedroom just yet!

Bigfam · 09/09/2016 07:06

28 week appointment today 😊 Heartbeat good and strong and she felt the baby's head so showed me! Freaky! But all good. Took blood and pee sample. And had the whooping cough jab as they could squeeze me in with the nurse.

Hope everyone is well 😊

Babydreaming · 09/09/2016 12:43

Lovely to hear about everyone's 28 week appointments, mine is Monday morning and I'm worried my bump is going to measure way too small... At 24 weeks it was measuring 22 weeks and my ultrasound last week showed a small baby! I haven't put on any weight in the last 4 weeks despite trying to :(

How is everyone else's weight gain going?
