Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
agnesnitt · 03/04/2007 16:27

I'm planning on being at the midnight opening for The Deathly Hallows, and I shall be damned if I will let childbirth get in the way

If I have to, I shall be at the bookshop with my house scarf tied round my knees to avoid accidentally birthing in public. Although, if last time is anything to go by I shall have a fortnight to get the book read If the tunnelling this baby is doing is anything to go by, however, I shall probably have a pram with me when I go to pick up the book

typhoonsmum · 03/04/2007 16:41

LOL at the scarf. You remind me of me last pregnancy but it wasn't a book release it was my nurse training. My tutor had told me a wouldn't be able to complete and have the baby. NO ONE TELLS ME I CAN'T DO SOMETHING. It made me more determined to get it completed. Was handing final essays in on my due date. Took someone with me in case my waters went on the train. DD was 11 days late in the end.

agnesnitt · 03/04/2007 16:48

I knit the house scarves, I'd churned out Gryff, 'puff and Slytherin ones so far, am in the middle of a house unity for a friend and another Gryff for yet another friend. Hoping to have time to make myself one before the release. We're all going to be at the cinema in May for the new film too. Baby bump or no, I have to do something to stop feeling so damn wretched all the time:/

Groveregg · 03/04/2007 17:30

It's funny Agnes but I find that my knitting is the one thing that makes me feel better when the gloom descends too, and I have a friend with PND who knits more than anyone I've ever seen. Maybe there is something in it. My hormones told me to start knitting when I was first pg with ds - for the first time in about 25 years! The only trouble that I can foresee is that in my last pg towards the end I had carpal tunnel syndrome and my wrists were too painful to do it for long.

hello everyone
been a while since i posted. i'm due on 17th July and i've had a bad day today and am feeling a bit down. been feeling great, generally, but today just felt dreadful, like having a hangover, and so, so tired.
I abandoned work after lunch and just went to bed..
My bump has inflated absolutely massively and it honestly feels ready to burst!
I just can't imagine how it's going to feel in two months time...
i'm a first timer and suddenly feel a bit overwhelmed by everything...
hope everyone else is doing okay
xx

Nicky29 · 03/04/2007 21:30

Hi - I'm due on June 25th and suddenly freaking out
about having a baby - might be something to do with the disgusting burnt cake I made earlier....will I be a dreadful mother? Will I lose my single, childless friends who I adore? Anyone else having a mild panic?

auntymandy · 03/04/2007 21:41

STOP panicking it will be all fine and wonderful!!!

lynnec · 03/04/2007 22:23

Everything will be fine!!!! I think at some point we all have these thoughts and feelings, but in the end its brilliant, you will never look back!

Hope everyones having a nice week so far!
Welcome to all the newbies!

bilblio · 03/04/2007 23:40

Hi everyone, I'd forgotten about Harry Potter. As bump is due on the 19th I'm trying to decide whether to pre-order in case I can't get out of the house, or whether someone is likely to buy it for me/baby for a present, it's my on birthday on 1st August so I might get it as a birthday present. Hmmm decisions decisions, time to start dropping hints.

Had a busy day today, midwife check up, everything's fine, then hospital app with an anaesthetist. It turns out I have a slight latex allergy, so mixed with the low placenta they're covering all bases in case I have to have a c-section. The anaesthetist was trying to tell me I would be having one, but I'm choosing to ignore him and instead listen to all the midwives and people on here who tell me the placenta will have moved by the time I get the next scan at 36 weeks.
I've also drummed it into the blokey that when I'm out of it he's got to stick up for me and insist on no c-section except as an absolute last resort.

catstar · 04/04/2007 10:05

Auntymandy - I'm having a girl and feel like I'm larding up all over. Would be a relief to know if it's down to it being a girl rather than my cheese addiction!!

I think I am having a growth spurt as have been feeling sick and dizzy for the last few days. Am also leaking from my boobs, and yesterday kept getting a sharp, stabbing like pain in one of them. Not really enjoying it all at the moment.... but still of course happy and excited

Welcome to all newbies. Harry Potter talk going straight over my head. Have tried to read the books, but just don't get it!!! Think I must be the only one on the planet tho!!

agnesnitt · 04/04/2007 11:22

Bilblio... Pre-order it yourself at Waterstones for £3, then give the pre-order slip to somebody you trust and can threaten with death to go pick it up and accidentally pay the last £6 for you

Myfairone · 04/04/2007 12:08

LynneC, my thoughts are with you. I feel so sad for you and really have no advice, other than I want to send you a huge hug! Whatever you decide to do regarding the funeral has to be your decision. If you feel you can't go then don't. You and your family and baby have to come first and you upset the family then so be it. I would like to think that they will be thinking what is best for you.
I really feel for you and please know that we are here for you and feel free to mail me if you like.

I am so pleased to hear that the bumps are getting bigger and some of you feel fit to burst (Sorry!) Just this last week my bump has just completely 'appeared'! It looks huge! I feel like a pregnant lady now! I have been smothering my bump in oil to try and prevent stretch marks because I really feel like I'm going to burst !

Welcome to all the newbies!

Okay I have a question. Can I get your opinion on decorating please?!
DH and I are going to start decorating the nursery at the weekend. As DH is useless at DIY I am the one that will be doing all the work! My parents are freaking out over me stretching and reaching up and painting etc. Is it dangerous to be doing this kind of stuff? Or should I just go with how I feel and carry on?
I would hate to over do it but really feel that the scare tactics of having to sit still incase I damage anything are unneccessary...thoughts anyone?

Hope that you all feel well today and that your bumps are behaving!

Big hugs to all and especially to LynneC

agnesnitt · 04/04/2007 12:13

If you feel up to it, and you're not doing something too dangerous go with the flow. Pregnancy is a part of life and not the disease that some would like to see it classed as.

Just be careful of fumes and such. Keep the room you're working in well ventilated and use low odour paint if you can

Happy decorating.

Agnes

abgirl · 04/04/2007 13:36

Myfairone, I would be careful particularly with the paint fumes though the weather at thte weekend is meant to be good so you can have all the windows open. Also no climbing up stepladders or stretching above comfortable shoulder height - can affect the muscles in your lower abdomen due to looser ligaments etc. We are doing our nursery this weekend too, luckily doesn't need repainting though...

Myfairone · 04/04/2007 14:07

Thanks for the advice girls. I will do what I feel comfortable doing. I am not one to sit back and let people do stuff for me so why should I change now! lol...

Abgirl, good luck with your nursery. I am planning on papering up the picture rail and then have DH paint above that..HOpefully he can manage that!

For some reason my LO has decided it doesn't like bacon anymore and has completely ended its 'construction worker' diet and now wants salads! I haven't been able to look at anything green for months and now I'm munching away on salad! Strange ol' thing this pregnancy lark isn't it?!

agnesnitt · 04/04/2007 14:49

Heh heh heh, I've not been suffering a construction worker diet, but feel as though I'm housing an actual construction worker. All this child seems to do is tunnel down

The nicest thing just happened to me and I wanted to share it.

I thought I would treat myself to some new face cream and was standing in front of the Clarins counter in Boots when the assistant came up and asked if I needed any help. I told her I was just looking and she started talking to me about my pregnancy. She gave me a huge bag of freebies incl an oil and a cream that's good for stretch marks (advising me on the best one for the breast area etc!)

She didn't have any children herself but told me her best friend is pregnant and she knows how tough it is!

She really made my day (and made me want to cry - nothing unusual!)

auntymandy · 04/04/2007 15:50

how nice!

madmumNika · 04/04/2007 16:20

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather!

Just a quick question- is anyone else not going to have a nursery room for their little one ?

We live in a 3-bedroomed house and as my relatives & friends come to stay often (I'm English & live in Northern Ireland) we want to keep one proper double spare room, so my little one will have to squeeze into DS's small room! Also I'm still planning on LO sleeping in our room for the first 6 months so reckoned if we change our mind we can sort out decorating later....

We really haven't got anything at all prepared yet...I think I'm nervous about tempting fate after DS was born at 30 weeks. Had a bit of a BP scare last week so now being watched closely and feel a little like a time bomb Mind you, BP was at its lowest ever yesterday!

I did buy one tiny outfit, newborn size, after my last scan...but then got told off by DH!! He's even more superstitious than me!!

I reckon once I'm past 30 weeks I might brave the loft and MIL's barn where we have stored all of DS's newborn stuff. Wish I could really celebrate expecting but find it hard to at the moment.

Also, does any one else have Rhesus antibodies which they are having to monitor?

Hugs to you all xxx

Myfairone · 04/04/2007 16:39

Madmumnika - I do understand what you are saying about the superstition. I have only just started to buy things and am taking them all straight to my parents house!

You do what makes you feel comfortable. If you want to buy something then get it and maybe leave it with someone...see how you feel, there is no right or wrong.

As for the nursery, this is our first so we have a small room and a larger one that are junk rooms...decided to put LO into the small one so that relatives can still stay.

Good luck to all that are decorating this weekend!
