Hello all,

Just returned from a long weekend at Centerparcs- had a nice time swimming, relaxing, and had a pregnancy care massage which left me feeling much better and my skin softer.

I see we're not the only ones to have been thinking about names or deciding on them- we decided a few weeks back on Ben, but as our 2 year old DD now calls my bump "Baby Ben" then its only a matter of time before she says this in company and we will have to own up that we have known the sex of the baby but kept it quiet! But talking about it prepares her for her sibling, so I'm glad we told her.

twoplusone- I like the name Lee too, and it would go well with our surname, but as a Lee was the first boy at school I had a crush on, it would be a bit weird. But he was very nice.

hi everyone, hope everything is ok. I phoned the hospital today as my consultant hadnt filled out my anomoly scan results in my book when she did the uterine artery doppler scan and my midwife wanted to be sure that she'd done it. when i spoke to them they said yes it was done, everything was fine with the baby but the placenta is too low and that it'll be checked again at my next scan at 28wks. I didnt even know that the appointment they'd scheduled for me was a scan! And this is the first i've heard of anything to do with my placenta. It is really depressing when you dont get told info that you really should. i'm glad i phoned now or i'd still be none the wiser. I'm high risk anyway. Does anyone know anything about this placenta thing? i'm a bit clueless

Miaou · 27/03/2007 14:26

husky, a lot of people have low placentas at this stage - the majority of them "move up" as the uterus stretches and the pregnancy progresses. A few though do not move and this is placenta praevia - when the placenta covers or partially covers the cervix. They will want to re-scan you to check that the placenta has moved - if it hasn't then you will probably be called back for further scans as time goes on. If you have placenta praevia then cs is the only option I'm afraid and they will want to monitor you carefully so that you don't go into labour spontaneously. Like I said though, only a tiny minority of placentas cause this problem. More info here

Went for my follow-up anomaly scan this morning. Lady doing the scan was lovely (such a difference to the grump that saw me last time) and very thorough. LO was being cooperative this time and the views of everything were just amazing. I could see him yawning very clearly. Got the all clear on everything. Was a lovely experience. Plus placenta has moved up - still lowish but no longer sufficiently low to cause concern - this is just two weeks after last scan when placenta was identified as being very low for those of you in need of encouragement!

typhoonsmum · 27/03/2007 18:08

Not sure if you are still following this Cazzy but congratulations. I wish you all the luck in the world

MelissaM · 27/03/2007 19:19

Hi all
Sorry I haven't been around for a while - not really sure what I have been doing but I guess I must have been busy!

Cazzybads - CONGRATULATIONS! hope all goes well.
abigail - hope you are feeling much better.
Chooster - thanks for doing the stats.
Hope everyone else is ok. I will try and catch up on what i have missed.
Caroline1852 - glad scan went well and placenta has moved up. apparently they usually do (mine was right over cervix at first scan but is fine now).

Re real nappies. We've bought a birth to potty pack (cotton bottoms) for £125 direct from the tommee tippee website. (Loads cheaper than amazon and various other places). They recommend 24 nappy pads and 8 nappy covers.

Re Names, we're really struggling with boys names too, but have loads of suggestions for a girl. Probably means we'll have a boy (we didn't find out at the 20wk scan). Only one we both seem to like is Lewis, and I think DH is only agreeing cos it's his middle name and he can't think of anything else!

Must go as timer going on oven - mmm lovely lemon & rosemary crusted sea bass fillet from M&S (DH out tonight and I couldn't be bothered to put any effort into a healthy tea). Am on holiday from Thursday for couple of weeks so will catch up when I get back.

Hope everything goes well for everyone.

Miaou · 27/03/2007 19:21

I got the job !!!! Am over the moon!

Melissa, we have the same problem with boys' names - struggled to choose ds's name (incidentally, his middle name is Lewis!). We have only one boy's name shortlisted this time round (don't know what we're having either!)

abgirl · 27/03/2007 20:19

Miaou, well done, glad to hear that your pregnancy wasn't a problem!

Lewis is one of our top two boy's names, along with Samuel. We like Sophie for a girl.

Am feeling much better and am back to work tomorrow. Have been working at home today anyway as I have a big interview next week in Manchester to get on to a senior management development programme and needed to write the extremely complicated presentation for it! - will be glad when it is all over next Monday, the timing could have been much much better but I am the lowest level manager to get an interview and desperately want to get the experience if nothing else. Am hoping after Easter to just work 2 and 1/2 days a week until I finish at the end of April - will be using annual leave to do it so I stay being fully paid for as long as possible!

You all sound much more prepared than I am for your babies but DH and I have agreed to clear the office out and have a car boot over Easter so am hoping to have it all sorted soon. Have ordered a bed for DS so we can move the cot into the nursery and need to get all the baby gear down from the loft - definitely need DH for that!

twoplusone · 27/03/2007 21:13

Caroline- Glad the scan went well/

pulapula- bless your dd bonding with the baby.. we have stared calling bump Lee to get Scott used to it..

Miaou- Well done on getting the job.

melissaM - Have a great holiday

Abgirl- Good luck back at work tommorrow dont over do things.. Hope they do let you do 2 1/2days per week.

Miaou, goodluck with the job.

madmum, thanks for the info on nappies, ive already bought 8 tots bots from ebay along with nappy liners, so i'll look out for a few more on ebay as bought that lot for £10 which was a bargain!

Jennster, i was looking at the muslin cloths today and got to admit i didnt have a clue what to do with them so i put them back thought they were for nappy liners So...can i use these as an actual nappy???????

Jamantha, thats a brilliant nappy scheme in your area, i'll need to do a search for my area see if it comes up with anything.

Abgirl, our favorite (for now anyway) is also Lewis along with Kayla and Ella, we'll see how long that lasts!!!

Hope everyones having a nice week.

lynnec · 27/03/2007 21:39

Sorry, miaou that goodluck has now changed to congratulations!!!! Trying to catch up with everthing!!

huskygirl · 27/03/2007 21:41

thanks for the info on the placenta miaou. fingers crossed it'll be ok then!

pookey · 27/03/2007 22:35

May I join you on the birthing balls Trimum2 and catstar? Position of baby not an issue at the mo but I have been dipping into a site Lulamuma posted elsewhere on spinning babies, really interesting but not really got my head round it all yet. My last baby was OP and I spent a lot of that pg with my feet up trying to avoid varicose veins, now I am trying to avoid lounging on the sofa and sit on the edges of seats or on the floor - its really difficult because I am a natural couch potato! I am not sure if it is coincidental but my headaches and heartburn (both of which can be posture related) seem to have improved a little since i have cut back on lounging.

Another low lying placenta here which just shows how common it is at the first half of pg.

Congrats miaou that sounds like a really lovely job

Thank you all for my Mum's well wishes. She is feeling much better now she is at home.

Went for my anomaly scan at the hospital yesterday and got the same 'soft talker' as last time. Nice lady but her voice is soooo soft! I told her I had an ear infection and asked if she could speak up!

Anyway, all was well and looking normal! Don't you just love the word 'normal' when you are pregnant?!

It was interesting to compare the measurements yesterday with those from the scan two weeks ago. Baby has really grown in all areas! Bless!

Once again I am thoroughly exhausted again today and desperately need some sleep!

Miaou - Congratulations on the job! Well done!

Abgirl - Good luck next week!

And I love the name Lewis but sadly it already belongs to my father in law!

Cyee · 28/03/2007 11:02

Congrats on the new job Miaou! Well done!

That's a total bargain for the nappies LynneC. Another place for cheap nappies is the Nappy Lady web site. I had a quick look (after buying pretty much all of mine on ebay) and the prices do seem to be slightly lower. Although on ebay nearly all the nappies are brand new... whereas they're definitely used on NL... I like the tip on using muslins. I got a load from ebay as well, so better start learning some folds!

On the name front Lewis seems to be very popular, I like it. We are having a girl, but Finn was my fave boy name. Looking like Ebha (Eva in Irish) or Caoimhe (Keeva) are the current faves for girls. Although both are a bit girly for the feisty acrobat currently living in my womb.

Hope you're all doing ok. I'm bit dazed today - as my lovely Granny passed away on Sunday and just back in from funeral etc. She was nearly 93, so good innings. But very sad all the sam.

Myfairone - wouldn't your father in law be very very chuffed to have his grandson named after him?

twoplusone · 28/03/2007 12:49

Cyee- sorry to hear about your grandma..

Just grabed myself a bargain at the thrift shop on camp..

Hi Princesspowersparkle, and welcome!

Myfairone · 29/03/2007 13:47

Hi Princess, welcome to the thread

Twoplusone - Good job on the bargains! You are officially today's bargain 'Queen'!

Caroline - I am sure my father in law would be chuffed but I don't think it would be very fair to my Dad! I don't want to go upsetting all the relatives!

Cyee - So sorry to hear about your Granny. She lived to a good age but doesn't make it any easier. I hope you are okay.

I actually feel pretty good today! Woohooo! I finally slept last night. I seem to get to the stage where I am so exhausted my body gives up and lets me sleep!

Had a huge row with DH last night and I cried for the longest time. He told me that he is sick of me being 'moody' (which I actually don't think I have been lately) and said that 5 months of me not being me has finally got to him!
I am so frustrated with him. He has no understanding of how it feels to be pregnant and can be very hurtful at times
