Lynnec- I would def recommend using a tens machine, hopefully your second labour will be quicker than your first and ull do just fine. Im a midwife myself and look after loads of women who find the tens really helpful! Has anyone else been suffering with sickness? Ive had it really bad since 6 weeks and had to go into hospital 3 times to be re-hydrated, its horrible. Am nearly 16 weeks and have just stopped being sick.

Miaou · 04/02/2007 20:16

Gosh I'm glad I'm not the only one who is feeling very emotional - I'm all over the place at the moment! It's not like me at all and I really don't like it.

justaboutmanaging - have you come across Kyte on this thread? I think I'm right in saying she is a curate for a CofE church

I finally gave in yesterday and put on my maternity jeans. They are on the tightest setting and still keep falling down but I kept having to undo my jeans in the evening. Dh had friends round for dinner last night and I suddenly realised I was sitting there with my flies open !!!!! Nobody noticed but I thought I wouldn't take any more chances

Still feeling movements, not every day but most days, particularly in the evening. I am knitting a lovely jacket in pale yellow cotton atm (for the baby).

But I have had abusy weekend sorted out the garden trying to cover holes dog has dug, and get themoss from the pavement and patio which has been there since we moved n but I have had a enough... was using a window ice scraper!!! inbetween the cracks... Then we took dog for a walk,... when I finally sat down I felt the baby move really clearly (wrong word I know cant think!!lol) Had a proper kick today aswell whilst I sat and relaxed for 10mins..

My hips are still hurting and my lower back...but the seem to be OK if I keep moving.. had a few stretching pains too..

Jst got the last few little jobs todo before DH comes home... (not that he will notice..) but I need to wash the windows and finish the ironing and putting away so I dont have to do anything when he first gets back apart from cuddle..kiss........................................................

My clothes from the Next sale still havent turned up I really am starting to think that I didnt confirm the order!!!!!! Hurrah! We have heating and hot water - it's bliss...

I totally sympathise with all the people feeling crap- I am definitely having days when I feel fat rather than pregnant but the bump is getting bigger and am feeling baby move all the time so those feelings are starting to diminish.

Went shopping with my mum yesterday and she looked after DS while I got properly fitted for amaternity bra - was still wearing the ones I'd bought for DS which were getting uncomfortable. Ended up in a size A LOT bigger than my normal one - cup size doesn't seem to have increased though, am very much more comfortable today! I got on my Mum's scales and think I've put on about 8-10lbs which I don't think is too bad at 18 weeks.

Twink123 welcome to the board, if you let us know your due date will add you to our weekly stats list. Your GP surgery should have a list of antenatal groups including swimming sessions.

Miaou I am starting to think about making something for baby but have just started a cross stitch for some friends who are getting married the day after baby is due! Don't know if I'll make the wedding or not...

Morning! Can someone tell me why i would want to bounce on my gym ball whilst pregnant? (ie not in labour?) - i think it was Twoplusone who mentioned it? and actually also , how does it then HELP in labour - does it how shall I say "stretch" you downbelow with each bounce?!
Feeling quite tired now , esp in the afternoons and moody!! I finally think my partner is begining to understand that "Its my hormones!".
Bought one of those heartbeat monitors off Ebay - but too early to hear anything yet - but got my 20 week scan on thursday so getting excited - I havent had one since week 10.

I have the Summer one - but it does say from 21 weeks!

marchbunny · 05/02/2007 10:37

Hi All
Sorry for not posting for ages but have been trying to keep up! Have had the most disgusting sinus/eye infection - just trying to get by using the old steaming method, as no drugs allowed! Seems to be finally on its way out, fingers crossed. Although I was really sick yesterday, first time in three weeks!

Hello and welcome to all new people, the emotional rollercoaster is bad isn't it! Absolutely anything will make me sob at the mo, including Eastenders !

I can't believe that it is nearly time for the twenty week scans - that means we are all half way! I have mine towards the end of the month - really keeping my fingers crossed that everything is progressing well. x

bubble78 · 05/02/2007 11:02

bubble78 have had a few spots but nothing major so sorry no help there! Your DS looks a cutie!

Marchbunny I suffer with sinus problems and find that cold and hot compresses alternated for 10 minutes can really help alleviate the pressure.

twoplusone · 05/02/2007 12:00

bubble- your ds is so cute..

justbeme- I dont know what it does I was just told and read up somewhere that using it before and during the birth helps!!!!SO ai gave it a try.. I will use it again this time..don't know if it does make a difference, as I never laboured with DD. I also have the summer doppler thing, havent picked hb up but can here movement...the odd kick etc..

Just had my triple test results back...low risk 1:5400 something like that, which is good news.

3 sleeps then DH home..

marchbunny · 05/02/2007 14:02

Really glad you are feeling well twoplusone. You must be soooo excited about seeing DH again - not long now. x

Miaou · 05/02/2007 14:20

Can I just sound a note of caution re. these monitors where you can hear the baby's heartbeat ... when I had ds my placenta was absolutely huge and was anterior (at the front). Consequently it was pretty difficult for even a trained m/w to find the heartbeat at times, depending on his position. I was never worried because he was so active and had the hiccups constantly {hmm] but it was mentioned to me by the m/w that people may go into panic mode if they can't find a heartbeat when in fact an anterior placenta could be masking it. The position of my placenta wasn't made known to me until very late on (when I had a growth scan at about 34 weeks) so potentially I could have had a lot of worry.

Anyway, not meant to be a downer, but do bear my experience in mind!
