Hi Trimum2,

I think I am happy really to have a DS, so I can experience bringing up a boy as well as a girl. I have seen some really cute baby boys today at baby swimming, who also seemed really easy going and contented.

I didn't have a section last time, but did have what I considered to be a difficult birth, and due to having an episiotomy + 2 tears, and 3+ hours of pushing, my pelvic floor was shot to pieces, and I don't want to go through months of physio again afterwards. As the consultant pointed out, a section won't protect my pelvic floor, so I need to keep exercising during pregnancy, but it should end up better than it would following another vaginal birth.

Jamantha · 21/02/2007 17:29

auntymandy and Swift, I've been pretty tired too the past couple of weeks. OK as long as I go to bed nice and early, which is a pain for DH but what can you do? Mind I tend to be an early riser too, which he isn't so it's not that surprising. Hope that when I get over this sore throat I might pick up as I'm meant to be swimming for charity - 138 lengths a week! Wondering if I've set myself a goal that's a touch too high? Seemed fine at first, but was really tiring last week. Missed a swim yesterday too because was ill. Think will just take it steady and try to do what I can and see how it goes.

And firststar - I like your advice to make a decision and then not keep going over it all again. Finding the choices overwhelming at the moment, think will try to follow your advice when we eventually make a decision.

Trimum2 · 21/02/2007 22:27

Pulapula
I think the impact of birth on your bladder is the biggest conspiracy ever! No one actually tells you how bad the impact is afterwards. Sounds like you had a torrid time first time around. Not surprised you are going for the c-section. I wasn't as bad but episiotomy and very urgent ventouse meant that there was no time to "open up" and he was dragged out. And I am still feeling the effects. I tried running last week and it was a disaster in terms of the ol' bladder. Won't be doing that again while pregnant!

typhoonsmum · 22/02/2007 10:41

Maybe I'm panicking.

Woke up last night feeling awful. Banging headache and high temperature. Took some paracetemol and finally got to sleep. Woke up this morning and the temp had gone but still had the headache.
Phoned my mum for a unrelated thing and mentioned I wasn't feeling well. She told me if I wasn't pregnant then just get on with it but as I am I should see the doctor if it doesn't get better as I can fight the infection but Splodge can't.
I am now panicking. Can't feel Splodge move as much but I have been busy and wearing looser clothes.

WHY DID I PHONE MY MUM!

abgirl · 22/02/2007 10:46

I expect everything's fine but ring your GP for your own peace of mind - don't panic, but your Mum is probably right that it is better to be careful when you're pregnant.

swift1 · 22/02/2007 11:02

Typhoonsmum, , I wouldnt panic, I was really rough a few weeks agao like that and the pharaamcist said I couldnt take anything anyway, just paracetamol, rest and fluids. With regards to baby, I can feel the baby move in the morning and the sometimes not again till bedtime and im 21 weeks, but if you are worried i would ring your gp/midwife,

It isn't kicking as such. Just movements.
I am so busy at work I don't notice it but when I get home I feel it. I feel it more of a weekend when I am in my jeans. (Mat clothes are a bit too big still and my clothes are a bit tight.)I think I'm just panicking and need to slow down a little bit. Also I think the more I think about it the more wound up I get.
Feel a lot better than I did in the night. I could have prob gone to work today but I think the day off will do me good.

Jamantha · 22/02/2007 11:41

typhoonsmum - hope you're fully better soon. I think you're right having the day off. I went to work yesterady with a sore throat (having had mon & tues off with abdo pains) and today I'm full of cold - bad head, stuffy and/or runny nose, sore throat, coughing fits... Serves me right for not recognising that I need a bit more rest being pregnant? So I'm off today, and will have to see about tomorrow. Sounds like lots of folks are having bad times woth colds and illness at the mo. Hope it doesn't last long.

Jamantha · 22/02/2007 11:43

as for the movement - I think I've felt some, when I've been sitting or lying very quietly. Had a check of the heartbeat at the GPs on Monday, and he said it was showing signs of moving about. So must be OK, I'm just not noticing it.

I knew my mum was just panicking me.

Headache is coming back. I think it is just a very bad cold.

My sister has just moved into a house up the road from me. It is nice having her so close. Great for babysitting purposes. What with MIL living 6 doors up from me and now my sister living over the road from her I have a babysitting network literally on my doorstep.

When did you all feel your first obvious kick. As I've said I've been feeling bubbles and movement for a few weeks but no obvious kicks. Am 17+4 today. I think I'm just being impatient.

Hi everyone. I got myself in a tizz earlier this week, having felt lots of movements in previous weeks, then nothing for several days. So I had a warm bath, then lay and stared at my tummy for about 20 minutes - and sure enough, started to see and feel movements! Didn't realise quite how worried I had got until I felt the relief at seeing my tummy move - it was just nagging at the back of my mind, kind of. Anyhow, all is fine.

Still being sick, yeuch , and now have heartburn too, such a bummer! I'm still waiting to start "blooming"!

Dh and I have just bought a minibus to accommodate our growing brood! Going to pick it up tomorrow. We are very pleased with it. Much more room than a people carrier, and cheaper too.

typhoonsmum · 22/02/2007 15:44

Thanks everyone. I'm not the only onw who feels movement and then nothing. I feel normal again. (Well as normal as i'll get)

Myfairone · 22/02/2007 16:21

Hello all, and thank you, thank you, thank you for making me feel normal again! Mood swings are coming and going and one minute I find myself deliriously happy but most of the time I am on the verge of tears and crying over everything! I thought I may be coming down with something because I feel so exhausted most of the time but I think its just because I am pregnant.

I seem to be whining all the time! If its not my sore feet, its the morning sickness (that still seems to rear its head!) or the exhaustion!

Really want to make a conscious effort to brighten myself up and stop being so miserable when infact I am so very happy to be pregnant.

Hope that everyone is feeling okay today. Im sorry to hear that dates have been changed for some of you..just means you have to wait a little longer for your 'gift'!

Have a great evening everyone.

Myfairone · 22/02/2007 16:24

Typhoonsmum - I am 17+4 too and have been feeling the odd 'bubbly feeling' but nothing much more than that. I am desperate to feel the kick that everyone talks about but maybe its just too soon and I am too impatient!

I am sure we will feel it soon enough.

lynnec · 22/02/2007 16:40

Hi girls! Sorry to hear so many of us are sick or feeling down, ive had sore throat the last couple of days, today ive been quite sick...hopefully this is a one off!!! Think ive felt slight movement, although thought i felt alot of movement in weeks 13,14 and 15, none in 16 or 17 but gp said it wouldnt have been baby as its been 13
years since my last pg, so its more like a first pg again, and movement should begin in the next 4 weeks.
Has anyone any experience of using re-usuable nappies??? Ive been reading about them the last day or so and now wondering if i should give them a go.
Went out at the weekend and bought a new mazda 5,we got it today and its brilliant, has 7seats and loads of space for pram etc.
I hope we all feel better soon x

Groveregg · 22/02/2007 17:40

Hi everyone - yes mood swing city here too and still extremely tired and grumpy... But then I can't honestly see that getting much better until around Christmas...

Lynnec I am using reusables on ds, Cotton Bottoms although I think they've changed since I bought my birth to potty pack. I do feel better about using them and don't often have any problems with them. Having said that some of my friends are nearly sick when I tell them that hardly a week goes by without me getting some poo on my hands when I'm sorting out the liner into the loo and the rest into the nappy bucket. But actually when I've been on holidays and we've taken disposables, I've nearly been sick when I've smelled a dustbin full of old nappies, even tied up in their plastic bags. (Sorry to all those suffering from ms still).

lynnec · 22/02/2007 18:21

Kyte, that was the same with my mum, she used them on all of us too, i think im going to give it a go, i'll have a look on ebay, thanks for that.

Groveregg i will give them a go,but not ruling out the pampers/huggies although i did read that tesco's and aldi's are very good, even better than pampers etc so might try a pack of each see how i get on.

Ive been having a look at the tens machine and the birthing balls, so they are next on my shopping list.

pulapula · 22/02/2007 18:39

I would definitely recommend buying a TENS. I got one through a rental company- I phoned to rent one, and they asked if I wanted to buy an ex-rental one for only a bit more money. I have since lent it out to friends who thought it was great too.

We are looking at buying a new car. We have an alfa 147 (hatchback) which won't be big enough for 2 car seats and all that you need to take on holiday when you have 2 kids. We also have (sad I know) a porsche boxster (2 seats) which we bought just before I got pregnant with my DD. We don't want to sell the sports car (its so much fun, even though it doesn't get used much) so think we'll trade the alfa in for a people carrier/4x4. Anyone recommend any? I had a picasso hire car the other day which seemed quite roomy, but not that exciting to drive. I don't want anything too big as I am rubbish at parallel parking!

lynnec · 22/02/2007 21:26

pulapula, we love the mazda 5 sport, it has loads of space, 7 seats, tinted windows and looks lovely. We did have the mazda 6 which was also lovely but the 5 is just class!!We choose the black one which i think is the smartest! Im well pleased with it. Im sure you will be pleased no matter which one you choose.

lynnec · 22/02/2007 21:27

pulapula, forgot to ask, could you recommend a company for the tens hire, so far i know mothercare do them.
