Found the new thread!
Totally reccommend a close caboo for simplicity. You can do all the fiddly bits before baby goes in and then baby just slots in and you pull the ends to tighten. They are also relatively coat effective if you don't know if you/baby will like carrying. They just aren't great for later on so if you like it you'll probably want something in addition once baby gets heavier.

On another subject is anyone else finding maternity trousers keep falling down? Mine are from my last preg so I'm wondering if I was just so fat I have overstretched the elastic?! Mine are all under bump. Would over bump be better? I don't remember this being a problem before but I have put in much less weight elsewhere this time my only real gain is bump itself!

ChozzleopsTheThird · 02/09/2016 09:06

Evergreen totally agree with your mum! Their skin is so soft and precious, why ruin it with jeans or overly fancy and complicated outfits, just looks silly. Don't get me started on headbands and bows Grin

Thanks for the new head topmammy I'm trying to keep up this time :)

We got the moby carrier and love the look and feel of it, definitely recommend it, though we have no baby to test it on so my review isn't that reliable 😂

ChozzleopsTheThird · 02/09/2016 09:07

*thread

Clearly I need a new head though Hmm

LondonGirl83 · 02/09/2016 09:09

it was me- the chattiest among the chattiest 😳

LondonGirl83 · 02/09/2016 09:10

Ever so sorry to here you've come across some incompetence on the NHS. When I went for my 12 week scan all my records were wrong (the hone number, next of kin, emergency contacts etc). Unfortunately these things happen!

wispaxmas · 02/09/2016 09:23

Bumblebee, I can wholeheartedly recommend the baby ktan for when bubs is little. It's like a stretchy wrap that you don't have to wrap, it's two circles of soft fabric that you cross cross over your torso, toss baby in (or place carefully, whatever), then tie a sash around the middle. Super easy and quick.

wispaxmas · 02/09/2016 09:27

Ever, I did have a lovely midwife at my 16 wk appt, but still no blood results!! Sorry your MW was a bit useless, I don't think I've ever actually remembered to bring a urine sample to an appt, I've always just done them there!

toBurpOrNotTo · 02/09/2016 09:30

Wow, this thread sure moved fast! I was down for the past few days with very bad ms...just when I thought I had my green days were over, & I could go about eating and smelling things breathing normally, the nausea came back with a vengeance Sad

Great tips from all of you, I'm jotting down a little list of must haves ... I am yet to start & feel so far away from doing any baby shopping yet.Blush

GinIsIn · 02/09/2016 09:33

Hi all, found you! 16 week appointment this afternoon, a week late. We move next week so I need to switch from this team of midwives to new ones in a totally different county. Those of you for whom this isn't the first baby, is there anything you can think of that I should be asking/telling them at this appointment to make the transition a bit easier? I know I need to ask for all my notes but not much beyond that!

Shellbell0403 · 02/09/2016 09:33

Marking my place..

Woke up this morning with major sore back!! Also feel as though my bump (although practically non existent) is smaller, maybe less bloating?

ever sorry about ur bad app! I never got to hear the HB at mine, they don't do it up here until 24 weeks! Try not to worry or stress about it, sounds as though she was having a bad day.

Daisydaisy18 · 02/09/2016 09:38

Thanks for all this super advice!! For us first timers it's so helpful... I walk into baby shops and just look lost and confused....
Start new job on Monday, I was brave and told the head this week. Was dreading it, he was amazing and so kind... Got a bit emotional as I was feeling so awful.

I daren't buy anything until after 20wk scan which is 6th Oct. Had a huge disagreement with the old MIL, apparently I'm ungrateful as I have refused to use a mattress that she used for first grandchild, it's been under a bed for 6years!! I just don't want to take the risk, I wouldn't forgive myself for the sake of 100quid.
Off to google all these baby carriers!

twocatsandatoddler · 02/09/2016 09:40

Fenella when I moved areas last time they basically did my booking appointment again, which was a bit tedious but meant they had all the info.

Shellbell0403 · 02/09/2016 10:05

Can I ask all you experienced mommy's a bump question... is it normal for bumps to grow and get smaller?

FriendlyGhost · 02/09/2016 10:11

Marking my place.
I would also recommend the close caboo for ease at first. You just put it on, put baby in and tighten.
Evergreen sorry your midwife was rubbish. All the information should be on their system so surely they can just print it out again. Hope they're better next time.

DottyA · 02/09/2016 10:36

Thread 7 already! We're beating the October group.

On the homebirth thing - I read that for first babies, you have about a 45% chance of having to transfer to hospital. The idea of that really scares me, so I wouldn't do it for that reason. For second births, it drops to about 10% so I'd definitely consider it if I have a second (and the first birth is straightforward).

On carriers - I'm getting a cheap stretchy wrap for the first couple of months. If both me and the baby like carrying, then I'll trade up for something like an ergo or connecta.

DottyA · 02/09/2016 10:40

Shell I'm not an experienced mummy, but my bump has definitely grown and shrunk a bit. I'm assuming it's because part of it is bloating which comes and goes, and part is baby.

ChozzleopsTheThird · 02/09/2016 10:40

Someone mentioned up thread what babies should wear in bed, I came across this that people might find helpful :)

Marking my place!

Going off to the OH's brother's wedding weekend soon. We've already had a fight about the cat litter (don't ask), we have a sick cat who apparently left a collection of splatty gifts in the tray overnight but we basically just have to leave her and hope the cat sitter will take her to the vets if she looks/gets worse, I was meant to be off work but got moaned at to make a nice breakfast, Google maps says it's a 3 hr journey but one of his friends just came back from hols in that direction and said it took him eight hours.... arghhhhh.....

I really could do with a lie in until 11am every day this weekend, but it's just not going to happen. At least there'll be a couple of other pregnant ladies at this weekend so we can all glare at the piss-up together Grin

So if I'm quiet for a few days, it's cos we're away, but back after the weekend.

twocatsandatoddler · 02/09/2016 10:54

Can anyone recommend a comfy wrap for wearing around the house? Doesn't need to go up to heavier weights as I have an Ergobaby which is great for longer walks but I'm after something easy to put on and comfy to wear at home for those early days when the baby doesn't like being put down - that was fine last time but this time I'll have a toddler to run around after!

wispaxmas · 02/09/2016 10:55

We just do sleepsuits+2.5 tog bag through Autumn/winter/spring and never did bodysuit underneath..

twocatsandatoddler · 02/09/2016 11:00

kikis you've just pointed out the main thing that makes pregnancy so tiring second time round - a lie-in for me is 8am these days and I'm usually up by 7 even at weekends! I would pay good money to sleep to 11 just once!

Hope the weekend isn't too exhausting, I found weddings hard work when I was pregnant last time as I was tired and sober while everyone was drunk, glad you have other pregnant people to keep you company!

ChozzleopsTheThird · 02/09/2016 11:16

That's what I would use Wispa vest plus Sleepsuits plus sleeping bag seems excessive and the house doesn't get that cold.

twocatsandatoddler · 02/09/2016 11:39

I think people tend to overdress babies and I don't like seeing them with hats/cardies/blankets on when it's obviously quite warm. I think the rule when they're really small is one more (light) layer than you are wearing as they can't regulate their temperature, but as they get a bit older I think a good guide is same as whatever you would wear.

kikisdelivery · 02/09/2016 11:41

twocats a colleague is pregnant second time round and is absolutely exhausted. I am knackered first time! I have no idea how you ladies with a bub or two already do it!

And yeah, the weekend will be lovely I'm sure, but at some point I expect to have an internal scream of "aaarggghhhhhh drunk people!!!!!" to myself!
