Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

Tired and Fedup, I'll definitely join your pity party. I can't do another 12 days of this!

Does anyone know what the statistics are of births that require intervention at 42 weeks? Surely it just gets increasingly likely as each day passes? Sad

Spottyladybird · 13/11/2016 12:11

I've had enough! I had to do the supermarket shop earlier as DH is too poorly. Luckily my mum came with me end DD because half way across the car park I couldn't push the trolley anymore!

I'm just so tired, sleep isn't happening and my hips, pelvis and back ache so much. I don't remember it being this hard last time but it was summer so I think I sat on a garden chair and ate ice cream!

Spottyladybird · 13/11/2016 12:12

My midwife said to me, 'you can refuse to be induced'... erm, yeh right I want this baby out!

TryingNotToWaddle · 13/11/2016 14:51

The bloody messages!
"Is he here yet?"
"Any sign"
"any news?"
"You had that baby yet?"
And then today my darling grandmother started going on and on about stillbirths Confused
I'm about to go cuckoo... or AWOL Grin lol

Fedupithink · 13/11/2016 16:52

As horrid as it is, I'm glad we are all miserable together!

I went for a really long dog walk and treated myself to a huge chocolate brownie in the pub afterwards. My hips and pelvis are killing me but not even so much as a Braxton hick so far.

Does anyone know if your body knows not to go into labour on a poor nights sleep? Will we sleep really well the night of/before?

I'm so tired I honestly think if it happened tonight I wouldn't cope. I have made a start on the raspberry leaf tea today tho.

Aye I'm not sure, I'd assume birth just gets more likely, I hope so!

AyeAmarok · 13/11/2016 17:16

I'm just getting a bit apprehensive as if the baby keeps growing and growing, it's not going to get out of me without doing some serious damage on his way out Shock

Assuming a 7lb baby becomes a 9lb baby over that last 4 weeks, I wonder how much more likely forceps, tears and other injuries are.

Just having a wobble today I think Sad

Spottyladybird · 13/11/2016 18:48

I don't think it's definitely more likely.

DD went 8 days over, she was 8lb and although her birth did involve intervention (ventouse) this was because she turned back to back rather than anything else which could have happened at any point. Her labour was long too but this was again due to her changing position.

I was 10 days late, 7-6 and was out in three hours.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 13/11/2016 22:24

Due date here today. No signs at all. But we did finish dd's room today so we can get the cot ready for the baby now. Maybe I'm holding out for that?!

Aye - there's really not much difference in the head size of a 7lb and 9lb baby and from previous experience, that's what counts. My DD was 8lb 8oz and came out very easily Blush as her head isn't particularly big (she's 18 months now and in 6-12 month hats!). So I really wouldn't worry about weight in terms of difficulty in that sense!

tiredmumrighthere · 14/11/2016 08:58

Well I've reached my due date and I'm not happy about it Sad was having regular strong contractions from 6pm last night! Every 9/10 minutes, pressure in my bum with them too, diarrhoea, pain in my lower back! I thought this is it she's coming! Went to bed at 11pm was expecting to wake up in a wet mess and be on my way to hospital before 6am, these contractions was still coming thick and fast all night keeping me awake, I even went and sat on the sofa a couple of times because the pain was just getting stronger and stronger! Went back to bed at 4am and woke at 7am this morning to nothing Angry no pain, no gush of waters nothing!!! I'm sat here now and nothing,no even the slightest pain or ache, apart from the horrendous virus that I've caught off my DD SadSadSad got midwife at 1:30 today so gonna beg her to do something for me even if it's to just check if I've dilated!

Fedupithink · 14/11/2016 09:52

I'm still here too. Now 40+2. Had a half decent nights sleep though so feel about 100 times better than I did yesterday although still no sign of baby. Had about 3 intense Braxton Hicks last night but that's all.

Are overdue babies supposed to be easier to give birth to? (Clutching at straws for a silver lining) Maybe because things have been happening we aren't aware of for longer?

More raspberry leaf tea and bouncing on the ball today I think.

EllieM22 · 14/11/2016 11:14

Due date today. Feeling very fed up. Stomach ache like i get when i have diarrhoea but when i try for the toilet nothing happens! I also feel quite sick! Really hoping its something. Got a MW appt later and i can have a sweep but i just know she wont be able to do it 😞 Lots of ball bouncing for me too today

tiredmumrighthere · 14/11/2016 18:42

Well I asked my midwife for a sweep today and she point blank said no! Apparently I can't have one until 41 weeks Angry I told her I was going home to do it myself with a coat hanger Confused I don't understand how they can just leave you when your in absolute agony and can't get on with day to day life!! I've got 4 children one being 2.5 so I can't just lay about and think of myself, I've got them to look after I was so pissed off!!! She's booked me in for next Monday but I point blank told her I hope I won't be seeing her again! Sooooo done now...

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 14/11/2016 18:58

Oh tired, that's rubbish. I think different trusts have different guidelines. Mine's 41w but where I'm under consultant care it's 40 so I made my consultant wrote in my notes that my community mw was to give me one this week. Fingers crossed she will...

Oh my God tired, I'm so shocked at that! I cannot believe she said no. Why on earth would a midwife say no?!

Spottyladybird · 14/11/2016 19:51

Mine wouldn't sweep last week at 39 + 6 but I'm booked in for one this week at 40 + 6.

I've had strong BH/contractions on and off throughout today. Not lasting long but definitely enough to make me stop and a bit sporadic too. Hoping this ramps up to something.

Last time labour started with my waters popping so I'm not sure what a more normal labour is like!

Fedupithink · 14/11/2016 21:46

My trust is 41 weeks too Tired I feel your pain. I'm booked in next Wednesday for my first sweep but I'll be 41+4 by then! As I left last week I said I hoped I wouldn't see her again!

Way tmi, tried sex earlier. Not sexy at all!!! Fingers crossed it works though!

TryingNotToWaddle · 15/11/2016 07:42

Yayyyy! I'm in hospital. Been here an hour and a half... Plug went around 9pm and then contractions started. Waters broke getting into the cab.

Just need contractions to speed up now! They're bloody painful but still 6-7 minutes apart.

Hopefully the next time I post it will be because baby is here! Grin

tiredmumrighthere · 15/11/2016 09:58

I couldn't actually believe she wouldn't do anything, I was furious Confused but oh well suppose I'll just have to wait for next Monday.

Had a better sleep last night and my little one is with her grandma today so just gonna potter around in my pjs today and get some washing and housework done, and if I've got time have a nap Smile

Ooo trying fingers crossed for you Smile

bobcat85 · 15/11/2016 10:33

Baby boy born this morning at 2.45am on his due date. Was a 3hour 45 minute labour so was quite shocked. Have some tearing which I had to have surgery for but all fine otherwise.

JadeT2 · 15/11/2016 10:45

Congratulations bobcat, hope you're both doing well!

And fingers crossed for you trying, hopefully it won't be too long.

I'm 41 weeks today and just had my sweep, which was not pleasant..! Notes seem to indicate that I am absolutely nowhere near... And my induction is booked for Sunday now. I'm a bit upset as I'm supposed to be on the midwife unit but won't be if induced :(

tiredmumrighthere · 15/11/2016 11:12

Congratulations bobcat hope your both well xxx

AyeAmarok · 15/11/2016 13:35

Congratulations bob! Hope they have done a good job with fixing the tears.

Jade would you mind talking me through the sweep? I'm due one on Thursday and I'm a bit apprehensive about it.

JadeT2 · 15/11/2016 14:40

Of course! Mine was during a home visit so we did it on my bed. The midwife puts gloves on and then uses two of her fingers to stretch and feel the top of the cervix, then moves them in a sweeping motion around the membranes to try to stimulate the hormones. It's difficult to describe but it was an uncomfortable sensation of someone jabbing you really hard where you don't particularly want to be jabbed! I've had some slight spotting and increased discharge but no signs yet - my cervix is posterior and long but soft apparently :(

AyeAmarok · 15/11/2016 15:06

Thanks Jade Smile

Is the pain similar to what are referred to on here as "fanny daggers"?

Hopefully you start making some progress now!
