Oops I meant i have the buffalo 🙈🙈 if I had the donkey I wouldn't need a double buggy. I would absolutely love the donkey though as it can be used as a single and a double. At the time I didn't go for it as I didn't think I'd be having 2 babies so close together so I went for the buffalo. My friend had a donkey but she sold it any year when I didn't need it. She got over 500 quid for it though and it was well well used and was one of the first editions. They're just so expensive.

Dozygirl · 15/09/2016 00:04

Double prams are definitely a much harder decision than a single ever was. There are cons to both tandem and side by side. I don't like the width of side by side but i don't like the look of tandems. Such a hard decision.

AngelBlue12 · 15/09/2016 06:06

Do check out the Bumbleride too, I love my one, it's so light to push and easy to manoeuvre. I looked at all the joggers but liked this so much more.

SuperDuperJezebel · 15/09/2016 06:21

Cloey my GP said max 1 glass of wine per week... I had one small glass of prosecco at 10 weeks and I didn't love it! 2 weeks ago I was given a glass of champagne, I had one sip and gave it away. I hope this doesn't hang around post pregnancy!

MissClarke86 · 15/09/2016 07:10

I used to be a wine guzzler and thought I'd really struggle not drinking but I haven't. I think that fact that it takes 4 weeks to make or break a habit is true. It used to be what I looked forward to on a Friday night and now it doesn't even cross my mind. I suspect my brain has forgot that lovely fuzzy tipsy feeling!

I've considered one glass but I just don't want it enough. Without the ability to have 2 or 3 glasses it's a bit pointless to me - I drank for warm fuzziness not taste!

NameChange30 · 15/09/2016 07:33

I really miss alcohol (more than I thought I would, because I've never been a big drinker) but I think it's easier not to have any.

It was actually a source of arguments between me and DH before we started TTC; he thought I shouldn't have any at all and I thought small amounts would be fine. I bought "Expecting Better" because of it (there's a good chapter on the research behind the alcohol debate). In the end I agreed to avoid alcohol completely (while pregnant, but not while TTC) and I'm happy with that decision. I am really looking forward to my first drink post-birth, though!

Oh and I've bought some alcohol free sparkling "wine" from Sainsbury's to drink on a special occasion. It's 0.05% alcohol (I'm not being so strict that I won't drink that.)

Those who recommended the baby jogger city mini - does it matter that it doesn't have a parent facing option?

Most mums I know have/had the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix car seat, think that's meant to be one of the best and safest for newborns.

I haven't drunk alcohol at all since being pregnant, I'm not a big drinker anyway so I don't really miss it. I'm going to a wedding soon so might have a small glass of fizz there.

Dustycorners · 15/09/2016 08:04

Alpha I can't comment on the bjcm but in general I think parent v forward facing is about your preferences and what the baby likes. I think many babies don't care and get used to what they have from day 1, but some do seem to have a presence. My DS definitely preferred to face me and we didn't face him outwards until he was a year old - now he loves looking out. When I chose a pram I wanted one that could do both. I have to say, I miss him facing me as I used to love talking to him!

I have the easywalker mosey, which meets most of your requirements except the one handed fold. However because it's so lightweight and compact I never needed to fold it on transport. You can push the handle right down so it doesn't stick into the aisle. On the tube it sat neatly by the door, not in the way. But if you really think you will be folding it a lot, you definitely need two hands. TfL published an article recently about the best buggies for London transport. The BBC reported it so it should be easy to google.

Dozy I completely agree - double buggies are much more difficult than singles!

No alcohol here in last pregnancy and none this time. I just don't want it enough to want to take the (very small) risk. But most of my friends have had wine throughout their pregnancies, so I think it's a question of what you're comfortable with.

Happygojo86 · 15/09/2016 08:47

No drinking here, although I was mostly sangria and rum and coke the week this baby was conceived. I don't mind. I go over my caffeine occasionally but I want that coffee WAY more than I ever want wine Grin.

As for car seats. Please please PLEASE find a car seat that is suitable for your car. The in car safety centre are excellent for advice. I spoke to babies r us when we were first looking and she said in her training they were shown loads of pictures of people with maxi cosi pebbles badly fitted because people buy them as they are the 'best' but if they don't fit your car they are useless and unsafe. Also all infant car seats are heavily tested and regulated and have to reach certain standards so don't feel pushed into something that's not right for your car, baby or budget. A right fit is safest

charlybs · 15/09/2016 09:15

I'm tee total here. Like miss Clarke i drank for the warm fuzzy feeling rather than the taste so I'm not that bothered. Also when I was sick the smell of alcohol was a huge trigger bleugh.

The one thing that might make me waver is mulled wine at Christmas. But there's such a delicious range of non-alcoholic mulled drinks that I'll see how i go.

Carolann8584 · 15/09/2016 11:11

One thing I don't need to think about, I don't drink haven't in years, never liked the taste only drank when I was younger to be merry with friends Smile

Very happy today, 2nd TRIMESTER! and I have beany the size of a troll lol

I suppose its not Beany any more, but will have the wait for 20 week scan to start using he/she

Anyone still felling nauseous? mostly if I haven't eaten in the past hour lol

Clarity77 · 15/09/2016 12:14

I haven't drunk anything since I found out but feel a bit more relaxed now about trying an occasional glass. We are having a spa weekend for my birthday this weekend and I might treat myself to a glass of champagne with dinner etc (whether I will still like the taste is a different matter).
Caffeine I'm relaxed about, I have gone off coffee but have the odd coke, tea. I dont mind decaff options. I have continued to top up my hair highlights with the root touch ups. I think most things are fine in small doses and not worth worrying about. I read a great article about alcohol and breastfeeding which essentially said that we are over cautious and a few drinks are fine. Made me realise how much they overstate some of these warnings just to be over cautious or in the belief that we can not self regulate 'reasonable' amounts.

Clarity77 · 15/09/2016 12:17

Really interesting article if you are going to breastfeed and want to know the facts about safe drinking.

rbucz · 15/09/2016 12:56

Clarity thanks for sharing that article, good info to know. Can't believe a woman in the US was arrested for having a beer and breastfeeding!

I'm also thinking I'll have the odd glass of wine in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. I'm going to a fancy wedding next month and I'm going to find it hard to resist trying a small glass of wine (the couple have expensive wine taste, so I have high hopes!).

alphabook · 15/09/2016 13:44

Thanks Dusty, I'll google that article.

Happy what do you mean about car seats fitting in the car properly? My understanding is that the Pebble is isofix only so isn't safe to be belted in, is that what you mean? Or do you have to check the seat fits into your car in terms of the size of the car/seats etc?

I'm not a big drinker will definitely miss mulled wine and Prosecco at Christmas!

Happygojo86 · 15/09/2016 14:06

Alpha as far as I know, the pebble is either seatbelt or isofix. Most infant ones are as they are designed to be taken in and out of the car. Cars have different shaped seats and seat belts so car seats aren't 'one size fits all'. If you have underfloor storage in your car you can't use an isofix base with a 'foot' because it can't get to the actual floor of the car. Some cars have seats that tilt different amounts so in some seats you can get 'head loll' which can be dangerous for babies when they fall asleep. Isofix is no safer than seatbelt installation if it is done properly but isofix is more difficult to get wrong iykwim also with the little car seats they are super easy to get in and out. So basically it depends on your car. My britax infant one doesn't fit into my dads Chevrolet matiz (horrific car imo anyway but hey ho!) so it really does depend on your car(s)

I have done so much car seat research recently, it's ridiculous! As DD needed a new one and I want her rear facing for as long as possible. It's an absolute mine field. I had my heart set on one after loads of research only to find that in reality, it doesn't fit into my bloody car!

Dustycorners · 15/09/2016 14:37

Happy we have DS in an ERF car seat, the Axkid Mini. Went for it as it is supposed to be one of the most compact ERF seats and would fit in our Focus, as well as lasting DS until he's 6-ish. Well, it does fit but only if the seat in front is very far forward! Ok for me, as I have short legs, but it means it can't go behind 6 foot plus DH. We now need to get a much bigger car anyway, but I do wonder how we'll ever have the space for 3 ERF seats. I found looking for child as opposed to baby car seats such a minefield!

SpanielLedWeaning · 15/09/2016 15:00

Yes to baby car seat being easier then child ones!

We were happy not having parent facing for our babyjogger. DS was parent facing when you put the car seat on it and in the carrycot attachment but by the time he was 5 months and graduated to the proper seat he was more interested in the world around him. Doesn't seem to have done any harm to his speech development either. But you have to decide what's more important to you personally.

Happygojo86 · 15/09/2016 16:15

I have cried over next stage car seats! May be the preggo hormones though! We have the joie tilt as a stop gap but as I can't fit 2 car seats and a buggy in my Kia, me and oh are going to have to 'swap' cars so I have the touran and get the joie stages for that. Even in that, which is a 7 seater, we can't fit the isofix infant seat behind the driver, it has to be behind the passenger.

My Kia does have isofix but unfortunately we don't have a spare £300 as we have to buy a seat for MIL too and we have the new baby coming, I haven't been working enough to make ends meet until a few weeks ago and we are supposed to be getting married in 18 months!

I am exhausted today! I worked 36 hours this week which has been a shock to the system, DD has been terrible at sleeping and it's so ruddy hot! I can't cope. I need Autumn to start! Also DD has started with a streaming nose and sneezing so I think the first cold of the season is on its way.... I LOVE getting cold when pregnant when honey, lemon and paracetamol are the only available drugs! (Saline nasal spray like sterimar is also ok, but not the sudafed one I don't think).... UGH!

Carolann8584 · 15/09/2016 18:24

Found my result letter when I got home from work today 1.100000 for both tests so low risk YAY Grin

alphabook · 15/09/2016 19:02

Ah I had no idea about any of that happy, that's really helpful, thank you!

cyclinggirl22 · 16/09/2016 08:04

missclarke I like those I saw someone out with one the other week and it looked smart. I thought about them but wanted something gender neutral for the next one and some of their designs aren't neutral

SuperDuperJezebel · 16/09/2016 10:09

I wish they did just the changing bags on their own, they're v cool ♥
