(TMI alert)As an FMG survive I am disappointed that it's compared to choosing a name! It's Child Abuse and the implications stay with you for the rest of your life both physical and emotional. It has very little to do with tradition/religion but a way to oppress women! Please, if anyone would like to know more about the barbaric act watch The Cruel Cut, which I am sure you will find on YouTube made by my beautiful sister for channel 4.

Anyways, I have to see a specialist who will decided if I can actually manage a normal birth. I personally will be asking for planned C-section because of the emotional impact it would have on me and all memories that are likely to return. They may have to open me up and let me heel before I give birth. Which would be the 3rd time I have to go through the heeling process. I was planning to share this with you guys but after I have my first appointment.

Healing dyslexic and half as sleep not a good mixBlush

Happygojo86 · 07/09/2016 07:06

Mummytobe I'm so sorry for what you went through, I could never comprehend what it must be like and I have huge respect that you can speak up as a survivor. I will watch that documentary.

I'm sure you will be granted an elective c section even if you can give birth naturally. I'm sure you know the implications of such surgery but completely understand why you would not want to risk the emotional and physical issues of a natural labour xxx

neonrainbow · 07/09/2016 07:20

I'm so sorry for what you have been through mummy. Go for the section they can't say no Flowers

I'm 15 weeks today and my babies are each the size of a canary according to ovia Smile

Dozygirl · 07/09/2016 07:20

Oh mummytobe how horrendous for you. We had a talk on fmg at work as part of my safeguarding role and I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. It isn't even always done to a baby and it's just so barbaric. Totally and agree that if c section is the way you want to go then health professionals will support you in that way

NameChange30 · 07/09/2016 07:28

Mummytobe
I'm very sorry to hear what you have been through. I hope you understand that I wasn't comparing the two at all. And I apologise if any of my comments upset or offended you. Flowers

Mummytobe I am so, so sorry to hear what you have been through and continue to go through. I just can't even begin to comprehend what it must be like. I am sure you can get the birth that is best for you. I hope the awful experiences you've had don't detract from the amazing experience of bringing your baby into the world Flowers

ItsMagicYouKnow · 07/09/2016 09:09

Congrats Carolann!

Mummytobe I hope you get the birth you want x

Mummytobe83 · 07/09/2016 09:41

Oh my God so many errors.Blush

Thank you ladies, I am one of the lucky ones and have come to except what happened to me...a lot girls die because of infection, can't have babies and don't enjoy sex, just to name a few....
Just in 2006 my cousin was sent to dermatology department when she went to hospital to ask for help and a reversal (Just to be opened enough so she can have sex without ripping everytime) so it makes me so happy that most of you guys know what FGM is....I have spoken to so many people about my vagina.. A sixth form cass full of boy's been the more awkwardGrin

The sad thing is the practice continues today in this country! Angry
I let you guys know what they say.

Mummytobe83 · 07/09/2016 09:47

Class* I wonder why you can't edit on here.

Carolann8584 · 07/09/2016 09:55

mummy Hope you get your C-Section

Told my dreaded manger today, I actually got a congrats through a forced smile, she was shocked! Wanted to start telling my work colleagues but wanted her to know first rather than hear it on the grapevine. so phewwwwww all out in the open Smile

Clarity77 · 07/09/2016 09:56

I second everything that had been said mummy. So pleased that you can talk about it and share these things it really helps others to understand the realities. So sorry that you were not protected and went through it and continue to suffer.

Cloeycat · 07/09/2016 11:00

I also told my boss this morning. So relieved to have done it and it went well. She was quite positive and assured me they were really happy with my work so far (only started in July). I'm so much more relaxed now.

WhereDoAllThePokemonGo · 07/09/2016 11:27

Morning all! So sorry to hear about what you've been through mummytobe and I hope that this pregnancy goes well and doesn't bring back too many bad memories Sad

I had my 12 week scan today. All well but baby would not cooperate and get into the correct position for the NT measurement! So will have a blood test at 16 weeks instead.

I would like to request to join the Facebook group but can't remember who I need to PM! Am on my phone so searching back is a bit of a nightmare, can anyone please help? Blush

SuperDuperJezebel · 07/09/2016 11:53

Hi Pokemon, pm me your email address and I'll add you!

neonrainbow · 07/09/2016 12:26

Mummytobe83 · 07/09/2016 12:29

Thank you everyone! I am in good hands and I am sure they will take my experience into consideration.

Congrats Pokemon

Dozygirl · 07/09/2016 13:07

Anyone started having baby dreams yet? I've had two now, both of them giving birth to boys. Wonder if it's prophetic haha. Also in the first one I called the baby Clarity which I thought was a bit odd but just noticed we have a user called clarity on here so I must have just read your name before I fell asleep. I think u joined the Facebook group and introduced yourself? Might be from that.

I have the most horrendous headache. Please can someone tell me if I can take paracetamol? Is there anything else I can take? Normally I'd be eating ibuprofen like sweets but I know it's not allowed in pregnancy.

I'm at work and really need to lie down in a dark room but that's not possible Sad

OP posts:
neonrainbow · 07/09/2016 14:09

Yes youre allowed paracetamol in line with the normal diary but you should take it for the minimum amount of time necessary. As per my consultant last week Smile

neonrainbow · 07/09/2016 14:09

Diary? Wtf? Dose.

SuperDuperJezebel · 07/09/2016 14:16

That's something I want to talk to the midwife about, because I reckon I wake with a headache at least 4 or 5 mornings out of 7. I usually only need to take paracetamol once to get rid of it but the fact that it's so often has got me worried.

Carolann8584 · 07/09/2016 14:17

Thanks Huge I don't have any toddies to look after but am worried about my back, I had a disc removed 5 years ago and have another slipped disc which I had a steroid injection last year for, thankfully not worn off yet can last anywhere between 6 months to 6 years.

charlybs · 07/09/2016 14:20

I've done my back in recently - shooting pains down my leg. I'm away for work for the rest of the week but really need to book myself in somewhere :(
