Hi everybody,
Went to a wedding this weekend and as soon as everyone at our table had enough to drink all inhibitions went down and got asked if I was pregnant. Must have been obvious though as I was refusing all champagne and wine Envy... although thought I was being subtle about it! No such thing.

6+5 and still got limited symptoms - feeling very slightly queasy first thing in the morning, and very tired by 9.30pm, but nothing in comparison to my first pregnancy. My mum (who is no usually the 'woo' type at all - retired biology teacher!) says that its because its a boy...apparently she had limited sickness with my brother, but hospitalised with HG for both my sister and I. I'm skeptical however! Thanks to all who've shared their symptom-less experiences, and I feeling reassured at the this thread and the number of you who also having/have had none.

Good luck to all with scans today!

Thanks for the Which tip jobrum. I know it's early days but is anyone considering a home birth?

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 11:59

OMG, I just made the mistake of reading the trifle thread Envy Now I am hungry for all the delicious English food we don't have. Argh!

I think I am going to go and buy shepherd's pie ingredients though. Immediately...

Otter I planned a home birth last time but ended up transferring in. I am planning a hospital/birth centre this time but that's mostly to do with the language, and the fact we now live in a flat...

StripeyFox · 22/08/2016 12:09

Otter I'm planning a home birth. I planned one with my first but was several hundred miles away from home when I went into labour so he was born nowhere near home. It was very straightforward and fast though so probably won't be going far from home from 37 weeks this time. I probably wont bother getting a pool this time either as it takes ages to fill. What are your plans?

LuchiMangsho · 22/08/2016 12:10

I have good news and odd news. We have a heartbeat and things are on track. However we also have a slightly large corpus luteum cyst measuring 5 cm (around 3 cm is more normal). Apparently it will just be 'monitored' and might/could go away on its own but if I have severe abdominal pain I need to go to A&E.

MilkyChops · 22/08/2016 12:11

Thanks everyone. I'll have to leave them home then and go alone.

I'm feeling normal which I can't work out is good or bad. No nausea, no tiredness and just wolfed down a toastie.

Could send you a parcel bertie? Don't think a trifle would travel well though. A packet of birds mix and dream topping would though..

OtterSpace · 22/08/2016 12:15

BertieBotts I actually did the same - after 3 days of none progression I transferred in, but have moved city since (flat with a lift where lovely ambulance ladies could get in easily, to town house with 4 flights of narrow stairs) and the addition of a toddler at home is making me rethink. Problem is where we live now there is a central hospital in the city (15-20mins away) and all the MLU's are further out (30-40mins) and quite rural. The hospital doesn't have a midwife led birthing unit.

OtterSpace · 22/08/2016 12:19

Sorry cross posted Luchi - that's good news re heartbeat! At least you know what the situation is and it's positive news that it might go away by itself.

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 12:20

Grin I want pork pies and scotch eggs! Mmm bird's custard. Now you are making me hungry.

Number4OnTheWay · 22/08/2016 12:22

Bertie I'm up for that!!! How many squats per kiss, I need to stop my backside expandig!
Where are you btw Bertie?

Luchi my mum had that with my sister (my sister is the same age as my daughter....my mum and I were pregnant at the same time!) And by the end of the pregnancy had disappeared on its own. They were worried it was going to rupture especially as it was so bug, but it just went.
You can get birds trifle mix complete with sprinkles and sponge fingers, its a favourite easy pudding here.
I've woken up with no sickness today! At first I was quite enjoying it....but now :(
I want a home birth but am classed as a high risk :( DS was a 31 minute birth (we went into hospital because I was die to be induced and went into labour whilst waiting for induction!) though, so I may get a home birth after all Grin
...I'm thinking I also use too many exclamation marks Blush I've just deleted a load. Clearly spent too long away from mn

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 12:26

But my tea tastes weird Angry

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 12:27

I'm in Germany near the French border :) Squats are great for preparing for childbirth! I'm trying to do them every day!

Apparently I use too many exclamation marks too Blush

MilkyChops · 22/08/2016 12:40

Pleased that there's a heartbear @Luchi. Fingers crossed the cyst just dissolves of it's own accord.

I don't think pork pies and scotch eggs travel unfortunately Sad

Puggleface · 22/08/2016 12:50

Congrats re: the scan luchi fingers crossed the cyst will re-absorb itself. I had one on my right ovary around 6 cm a few years ago. (granted, i wasn't pregnant at the time) I was left for a few weeks to see if it would re-absorb and luckily it did! At least they know its there and they'll keep and eye on it for you!
Number4 and Bertie I'm a great explaination mark user too! Blush
I've just booked in for my private scan, a week on friday. Keeping everything crossed!
Today I'm feeling full, heavy and like a dull sensation, like i'm about to come on my period. Different day, different symptom!

jpeg28 · 22/08/2016 12:55

I'm only 5+3 and today I'm feeling really queasy and my boobs feel like lead balloons! They were big enough before and I'm scared they will be gigantic!!!

Thanks for all the tips about booking appointments. I'll check with OH about his family history, I have no idea about where I want to give birth! My local hospital is the Royal Sussex and it's just gone into special measures so not ideal!

Huge congrats on the scan luchi! That's great news and amazing you heard the heartbeat!!

everdene · 22/08/2016 12:57

Had my scan this morning, thankfully all is well!

Got to see the heartbeat (it just looked like a little blob rather than a baby though!)

Good luck to everyone else having scans today.

LuchiMangsho · 22/08/2016 13:03

Thanks everyone. Breathing a minor sigh of relief for the moment. And scoffing lunch at my desk before I get ready to chair an interview panel. I've been overcome by unexpected bouts of nausea (never ever had that before) so I'm hoping that I don't...you know...spill my guts out before our prospective candidates...!

cantmakeme · 22/08/2016 13:06

Congrats on the great scans, and luchi hopefully the cyst will be ok.

Mine was good too, it's not ectopic - yay! In correct place and saw the heartbeat.

MilkyChops · 22/08/2016 13:09

I wanted a homebirth first time but ended up with a c-section. 5 midwives and a consultant didn't believe that my baby was breech, he was. I knew. Eventually she scanned me and he was infact breach. Failed ECV and he was born 3 weeks early the same day.

I've now been told that I've got to have any future babies in hospital. It's my worst nightmare after the first experience again.

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 13:18

DS is driving me nuts. I don't think I'm going to manage another 3 weeks of school holiday. ARGH!!

MilkyChops · 22/08/2016 13:21

@bertie - get out of the house. Park? Beach? Swimming? We're spending our days at the play centre. Just home for lunch and naps.

How old is he? Any holiday clubs going on?

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 13:26

I was trying to get him to eat lunch. He has (very reluctantly) started!

We are going out when we've finished as have to deposit some money into the bank and do some grocery shopping. Glam.

He doesn't really do parks unless he's with a friend as they are "boring". No beaches near us, swimming is worth doing though. Maybe a good one for tomorrow - I have a driving lesson in a couple of hours, it's going to be tight to get back before then.

He's 7. I am going to try and get him into a holiday club for the last week.

finova · 22/08/2016 13:29

I've had a hospital water birth with gas and air and a home birth with nothing, (pool not up in time and midwives didn't have time to bring gas and air in).
Home birth was fast, no tears and baby fine. Very painful though with no pain relief at all.

I much preferred my 1st birth so I'm planning hospital this time. Hoping for a home from home room or water birth and gas and air on tap Grin

A benefit of home birth is 2:1 midwife ratio. They say if something goes wrong you transfer in, which is true. However, my 1 day old became seriously ill (unconnected to birth), and we were not allowed on neonates as he would bring in outside germs. Eventually we were admitted to a general paed ward after an hour of deliberations so do check policy in your area.
We'd have had much better care on neonates as several mistakes were made as they just were not used to procedures with new borns.

BertieBotts · 22/08/2016 13:31

There is no gas and air in Germany :( I'm a bit sad about that. G+A was lovely.

finova · 22/08/2016 13:32

Do they use tens machines?
I wonder why some countries don't use gas and air?

summerskittles91 · 22/08/2016 13:36

diet lemonade has become a new favourite. it helps food go down, and sipping it on it occasionally is helping the sickness. Hope it lasts as it's the only thing that has worked so far!!
