Oh Indi I hope your ankle is just spraised and you didn't have to spend too much time in A&E.

Danni this is my second time for growth scans. Everything was perfectly normal first time round and I'm not expecting any different this time. The measurements are so imprecise they scan you just in case. One of my friends babies did stop growing near to term. They induced her at 38 weeks. Baby was perfectly formed at 5lb7oz and has done brilliantly. I'm sure you've nothing to worry about. It'll probably take a week for me to get a scan again.

LisaTheSimpson · 10/08/2016 20:45

Ok, the book I'm thinking of is called 'Leaving Time'. I quite liked it, if anyone's looking for new books.

leoniethelioness · 10/08/2016 21:02

Thanks, Lisa!

I think I'm starting to get stretch marks. 😑😑😑

leoniethelioness · 10/08/2016 21:05

I felt really faint in my antenatal class when the midwife started talking about delivering the placenta. 😔😳 I hope it was just that I was having a sugar low from my crap diet today.

Newmrs22 · 10/08/2016 21:51

Leonie I got to about 37.5 weeks before I got a stretch mark. Now I have a few. It's so cruel. I thought I'd escaped!

Co5mo · 10/08/2016 22:03

So fanny daggers....do they seem to happen when baby moves in particular ways? I think with the look on my face a few minutes ago made DH think I'd gone into labour. Rather took me by surprise.

Pinklily1 · 10/08/2016 22:26

Cosmo, I get them more when I have been sat down for a while and then stand up.

Co5mo · 10/08/2016 22:36

Hmm. Was I well and truely sat down Pink. Baby seemed to be rolling across my cervix. We're just a little paranoid atm after news of a 31 week delivery from my aquanatal class this week.

LillianFullStop · 10/08/2016 22:37

glad everything ok with bub indi - hope the ankle is ok too Flowers

leoni must be low blood sugar or maybe not enough fresh air in the room? 29+3 and no stretch marks yet. my mum and sis both got them so I probably will too soon 😭

IndiX · 11/08/2016 06:52

Morning ladies,
I ended up getting home about 9.30pm after being admitted at 1.30pm. Bloody long day in hospital!
I went to A&E to get my foot checked, whilst waiting to be seen to I started seeing black spots, I felt like I was going to be sick, was sweating buckets and felt like I was going to pass out. They think it was from the painkillers (dihydrocodiene) that the midwife had given me earlier in the day for my ankle. I'm not used to taking even paracetamol so it majorly f*cked me up. Anyway they rushed around me got me on a bed and I was seen to pretty quickly. After I started coming round a bit I got an X Ray and turns out I've buggered all my ligaments and have a nasty sprain but that's it. Thank god! So I now have 2 days on the couch with my foot up to reduce the tennis-ball shaped swelling and then a week of keeping it easy. I also have a very attractive splint and walking stickBlush
I'm a bit pissed off I won't make it to the gym for a week but I know i best listen to people and start taking it a bit easier now.
Thank you for your messages yesterday everyone Star

Now to catch up..

Pink DH very rarely drinks anyway so I don't think there will be a ban as such, also if I get a c section we'll hopefully be more prepared by knowing a date. I think it's a good idea though if your OH likes the occasional drink in the evening, I'd probably do the same if my DH drank more often.

Lisa glad the body con went down well, I'm sure you looked fab. I definitely think tighter stuff is more flattering, I still sometimes feel I look fat more than pregnant! And yes I completely agree that we should embrace our firm, right, round tummies before they deflate Blush

Potato that made me laugh about the kids and the over-compensating parents. At least they seem nice and you got a bottle of win not much use to you though. We have kids either side of us who throw stuff over all the time, the dogs end up bringing in all sorts of crap from the garden now or bursting their footballs.

Dani and Cosmo I agree with others, measurements aren't always accurate. Yesterday I was measuring smaller but every other time I've been spot on. I'm sure it's just how baby is lying. Good luck for your scans. I'm sure you'll both be fine.

Audrey I'm glad you've had a smooth but boring pregnancy so far so had I until yesterday, hope baby turns round for you but he/she has plenty of time to do so. I also hope your 3D/4d goes well, can't wait to see some pics (if you want to share of course!)

Think I'm caught up, sorry if I've missed anyone! Hope you're all well todaySmile

IndiX · 11/08/2016 06:53

Don't know wtf happened with the bold there..

PotatosMum · 11/08/2016 07:11

Morning all, how are you all doing today?

Leonie my tummy is now one big stretch mark Sad I honestly don't know how it happened, it's almost like I went to sleep one night and woke up with with them everywhere!

Indie glad your ankle wasn't broken. Take it really easy, torn ligaments aren't fun and if you push yourself to be better you may find yourself having trouble with it for the rest of your pregnancy Sad

I did next to nothing yesterday but I'm still exhausted today and feeling very achey. I suppose it's to be expected now but all I want to do is sit around or nap.

I wonder how Bunch got on with her first day of being a mum...

Feefeefs · 11/08/2016 07:16

Glad you, ankle and bump are okay leonie!

Pink I think I will impose a drinking ban DH is not a massive drinker but it would be fairly like him to get hammered on completely the wrong night

shelbTa · 11/08/2016 07:23

Morning ladies

How is everyone?

Indi - glad to hear you're out of there, sounds bloody awful.

Potato - I'm expecting marks any day and my tum is basically covered in a mottled type pattern.

Just had a braxton hicks, seem to get them after the loo, anyone else? Hmm

What to do today on mat leave....!

X

Mileymoocow · 11/08/2016 07:56

Morning!

indi I'm really glad it's not fractured but speaking from too many experiences of ligament damage resulting in a permanently damaged ankle and foot, it is just as painful and can take just as long to heal so please do rest. Ice packs really help if you have any and try to keep it raised I'm sure you've been told by an actual doctor though!

I'm off work today for the funeral and wedding stuff. Just had OH come up with a cuppa and ask me to help him issue a grievance to his old employer. They've sent him an email saying they're deducting his final salary to cover the cost of the course fees (you may remember the saga from last week). Naturally, I hit the roof Angry we have savings etc to cover mortgage and bills but how do they know that?! I'm pissed that they think he owes it anyway and his union rep is recommending going to court if they take any payment. Ah stress!

Hope everyone else is OK! I managed to sleep through without getting up for a wee last night so I'm reasonably alert today for a change. My body has decided it's going to go from constipation to the runs the past few days too Hmm

I don't have any stretch marks yet, but I'm also one who will definitely get them. My poor mums tummy is like a road map!

leoniethelioness · 11/08/2016 08:00

Shelb I wish I had some ideas! I'm stuck inside most of the day. I'd like to go out a bit more but I'm worried about people from work seeing me and getting the wrong impression. I'm okay walking if I go really slowly (it doesn't hurt provided I'm slow) and I can sit down for a bit at a time too - just not seven hours at my desk. My two hour antenatal class last night was my absolute limit - I had to lie down on the sofa and then in bed afterwards as I couldn't manage sitting on the sofa. I have also started napping in the day to make up for not sleeping at night - although the painkillers seem now to be helping with that. I don't look unwell though and I'm actually doing really well within my limits. Still, I'm afraid of going too far from home and I'm not sure what we can do at the weekends as I'm fine in short bursts but worried about being seen out and about. Arghhhhh.

BunchOfBobs · 11/08/2016 08:09

Morning all.

I'm severely anemic at the moment so suffering from tiredness and getting to the loo, changing nappies etc. Atticus had a vey chilled day yesterday which meant hand expressing and syringe feeding but he changed his mind from early evening and fed like a trooper all night woohoo. He only likes one boob though so the earlier we can get to the cranial osteopath the better.
We're supposed to be headed home today but need a dr to discharge me. Hopefully I can prove a point that despite the anemia I'll have more help at home.

Atticus is amaZing, he hasn't had one dirty nappy all night/ no concerns as we had loads yesterday but in the day Daddy changes them hahahah.

I've had a teary morning, I blame the tiredness/anemia as I realised my charger wasn't plugged in and I couldn't swivel my breakfast table to me as there were bags under it. Cue 10'mins of me trying to get out of bed. Trying to squeeze down the side of the table/bed and then throwing a 1.5litre jug of water EVERYWHERE. Thank fook DH is here in an hour. I don't feel I can do anything more than feed Atticus this morning.

Indi so sorry about your awful day yesterday but please please take it easy now. No more
Walking the dogs alone.

DH was on a 1 pint rule from 37 weeks. Soda water and lime soon became an essential.

Re stretch marks, DH kindly informed me he spotted during labour that I have new ones on my rump. I appear to have the saggy skin you get after pregnancy around my belly button, which has gone the oddest colour.
I miss my lovely round solid bump, this thing is squishy and uncomfortable to touch and a full on jelly belly.

Re:Lochia if anyone is interested, so not that bad yet. It's quite watered down, I'm
Only changing pads every 3-4 hours when I pee because of stitches but could easily go longer.

BunchOfBobs · 11/08/2016 08:15

A shot from his first cloth nappy at 2 hours old, pulling tongues when he met the grandparents yesterday and him finally showing his eyes. Grin

Bunch He is absolutely perfect! 💙💙💙 I hope you're discharged soon. Hope your DH gets there soon.

Re: lochia - thank you for sharing. It is good to know! It just sounds like a period.

shelbTa · 11/08/2016 08:25

Bunch - he's amazing!!!!! You're doing so well. Hormones and tiredness are bound to be making you feel up and down eh - I don't know how I'm going to deal with that. are they giving you an iron transfusion or anything? My friend felt a lot better after hers. Dying to ask so many questions!!! Xx

Leonie - it's so weird being off isn't it?? I miss the office a bit, and chatting to people. Am trying to space out seeing friends. But on the flip side I'm sleeping when I wasn't, pain has gone from various places.

X

leoniethelioness · 11/08/2016 08:26

P.S. It is probably the hormones making you weepy. Be kind to yourself.

Mileymoocow · 11/08/2016 08:32

bunch thank you for that dose of Atticus! He is absolutely bloody gorgeous!!! 💙💙💙 just what I needed to brighten up this day!

Sorry to hear you feel wick, though Sad just keep looking at that perfect little boy you grew all by yourself! Our bodies really are amazing aren't they.

LisaTheSimpson · 11/08/2016 08:49

Oh Bunch, look at him, he's so gorgeous! I love the one of him sticking his tongue out, it's adorable. I'm so glad he's behaving for you.

Sorry to hear you're feeling so tired and rubbish. I hope you get to go home soon and settle into a little family routine with all the support around you. Like others, I'm dying to ask so many questions! Let us know when you're feeling more like yourself.

Miley - that is bloody outrageous! Is that even legal? If I let my job and my employer wanted me to pay back all training course fees I'd be bankrupt. Also, after the course is over, the employer then benefits from the employee having done the training (even if he quits soon after, any day the employee is back at work the employer will benefit). I can't believe this is legal. Definitely get the union involved, as I'm sure they'll be furious Angry

Newmrs22 · 11/08/2016 09:00

Bunch thanks for the photos- he's perfect. Love the hair Grin hope you feel better soon. You are bound to feel teary as well with all the hormones combined with the tiredness/anaemia. It sounds like you are doing a great job regardless!

PotatosMum · 11/08/2016 09:30

Shelb mottled pattern across the tummy is a good description of what I have too.

Enjoy the break Smile I think I hit the wall yesterday. I no longer have energy for anything, bending down is impossible and generally doing anything productive is not happening Blush

Miley that's ridiculous that they're taking fees out of his wages and I'm sure they don't have a legal leg to stand on. Second taking them to court if they dare. Best make it clear in the grievance that you'll do that, it might make them think better of it.

Leonie don't worry. You've been signed off by the dr and if anyone does see you you can always explain but from experience people generally know someone who's had problems during pregnancy and most people won't batter an eyelid. It's not like you're signed off with flu and you can always say that you have been instructed to keep mobile.

Bunch glad Atticus is being a good baby for you Smile he's lovely, and a lot bigger than I expected Confused Rest as much as you can and let other people run around after you! I'm sure you'll feel a lot less emotional when you get home to your own environment Flowers

Thanks for the info on lochia, good to know it's not as horrific as people make out.

So, another day of Potato rolling around, she's definitely drastically moved position as my whole belly now shakes when she hiccups which never happened before and every time she moves it's like watching eels under my skin.
Her movements also now make me feel a bit weird, as if I'm going over a bump in the car. I'm hoping she stays put until the end of next week though as OH really could do with being in the office. A new job he wants is coming up which would be a pay rise and promotion. I'm certain he's been earmarked for it but if he's covering his boss next week he will in effect be doing that job which can't hurt his application... The law of sod says Potato will turn up this weekend.
