Ok, thanks. I'm going to have to look this up. My car doesn't take isofix for a start?!?

firawla · 27/08/2016 20:39

Ooh I need to check out boots online too - that's a bargain at 2 quid!!

I'm thinking of booking another 4d scan too, I will have a hospital growth scan at 28 weeks, and maybe others but not that impressed with the pic quality at Watford Hosp unless u just got unlucky with the 20 week machine I had! I also want to just doubley check it's a girl since I have so much girl stuff ready now and don't want a shock if the 16 week one was wrong!!!!

I didn't know about Isize! I've got a maxi cosi cabriofix, and need to buy an isofix base for it, and I have a b-safe izi that was DS's, so I'll re-use that.

Bigfam · 27/08/2016 21:31

Were you not able to double check at your 20week scan then firawla?
I've bought loads of girly stuff as well but we are pretty sure she's a she! Grin

Time really seems to be flying, with all of my other dc none of them were due til after christmas and the new year. But by christmas I could potentially have a 2(ish) week old baby Shock doesn't seem real.

Bigfam · 27/08/2016 21:39

These are the best bibs ever. They're lovejoy baby bandana bibs & there's loads of designs. A lot of bibs I've tried in the past just don't do the job (clothes underneath end up damp) but these look great & have an absorbent layer on the back that really works but without the plastic texture/material some have.

No I didn't get the chance! bigfam I think they're a bit funny about telling you at my hospital and they emphasise that they won't make extra time for it. I had a trainee do my scan first then the proper person redid it all so it took forever and I felt bad to ask them to check something extra! They did say legs were crossed anyway! I'm sure they can't have got it wrong at the earlier one.. Well I hope not! Still, no harm in going for an extra one!!

Bigfam · 27/08/2016 22:59

Definitely a good idea to have a 4d scan then firawla Grin I'd love to see the difference between 16 weeks and a later scan. Does anyone know if there's a 'best time' in terms of weeks when to have one?

firawla · 27/08/2016 23:00

I think about now is good for 4d cos once you get too far on they can't do it as baby is too squashed!

sueevone · 28/08/2016 03:15

I've also joined the 4d scan bandwagon. I was really looking forward to seeing little one at my 20 week scan but the sonographer had me lying on my side for a lot of the scan to get a better view so I barely saw any of it. I was happy to be given the all clear as far as his growth but gutted I didn't get to see him so we booked a 4d scan. The ultrasound clinic suggested that optimum time to see them when they still have enough room to wriggle round freely was 24-29 weeks. We've git ours booked for 2 weeks time when I'll be 26 weeks. Can't wait!

Bigfam · 28/08/2016 07:01

I think I'll book one soon then (when the older kids are back at school) and take dd3. I'm 25+2 today Smile

sueevone · 28/08/2016 08:46

I believe 3D scans have a wider window at 24-32 weeks for those interested.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/08/2016 09:47

If you like the bandana style bibs look up Bubba bibs on Facebook or www.bubba-bibs.co.uk

They are a uk company but are amazing we had some when our daughter was born and they were amazing and look forward to buying more this time.

doubletrouble41 · 28/08/2016 10:08

Hi, just checking into thread, been lurking on MN for a while, not posted much. Lots of dec births, loads of us! I'm expecting GG twins on 21/12, any other twin mums out there? Ive been told to expect them 3-4 weeks early, so maybe I belong on the November 2016 thread! So confusing! x

SouthDownsSunshine · 28/08/2016 12:39

Welcome and congrats double!

I'm not booking a 4d scan, we've got 2 NHS scans coming up soon. A heart scan on Friday, and then a growth scan the following week.

You can call with reduced movements from whenever you feel them regularly, you don't have to wait until the 3rd trimester. And it's reduced movements you need to keep an eye on, not just no movements. IME midwives would rather check you out and it all be fine, than miss something.

We're camping in the new forest this weekend, it's so wet! Luckily dd has slept well.

goinggrey1978 · 28/08/2016 13:20

SouthDownsSunshine, same i'm not having a 3d or 4d scan either, i like my bog standard scan pictures and have another one booked 7/11/16 at 34 weeks it's a growth scan linked to my thyroid, i'm actually looking forward to this one, as its just 6 weeks before bubble is due as well, all the other scans i've been scared to look to start with as i had 2 ovarian cysts before my ivf started and they were always measuring and monitoring them at every scan, 1 dispersed before treatment and the other wasn't visible at the 8 week scan, i will get them to check there's nothing in there that shouldn't be once bubble has actually arrived though

on a different note, anyone in the south east, essex, london area??

Bigfam · 28/08/2016 13:21

Good luck and fingers crossed for both scans SouthDownsSunshine
New forest isn't too far from us, it's been raining here as well but still muggy (at least in the house!) What's it like outside?

firawla · 28/08/2016 15:41

grey I'm in London but NW London, just a bit out past harrow

goinggrey1978 · 28/08/2016 15:53

firawla thanks your quite far from me, i'm closer to essex

Popskipiekin · 28/08/2016 18:29

grey we are also London based but quite a way from you too - Swiss Cottage for now but off down to Herne Hill in a couple of weeks.

sueevone · 28/08/2016 18:42

We normally wouldn't have paid for one but as part of the health plan I have with work they give you a lump sum for each pregnancy ( I don't know if anywhere else does it but I'm not complaining! Lol) so as I wasn't able to see the baby at our 20 week scan the last time I would have see him was at 16 weeks.

TipBoov · 28/08/2016 19:06

Congrats double!

Is anyone not having their DH at the birth? DH was there last time and was really supportive, but I feel like if like to go it alone this time, so I can just get on with it, and not have to worry about sorting childcare for DS! DH thinks I'm being selfish and I wouldn't tell him he couldn't be there, I'd just tell him my preference. Also he's really terrible with blood and medical procedures. Although he was fine at DS's birth, he did faint during the embryo transfer for this pregnancy, so if also be preoccupied thinking about his well being!

Bigfam · 28/08/2016 19:13

I won't be having dp present tip
There's no one else we can rely on for child care and I normally go into labour silly o'clock in the morning Grin
dp also sat on the edge of the birthing pool whilst I was in established labour with a mouthful of crisps and tried to offer me some, just no!

StubbleTurnips · 28/08/2016 19:13

Tip I'm the same with DH, he's told me not to be stupid and that of course he'll be there. Think I'd feel better knowing he was home with DD though Blush

Helgathehairy · 28/08/2016 19:35

I haven't been posting much but I had a gender scan yesterday and we're having another girl!! Very excited that I get to reuse the mountains of clothes I have!
