I didn't find that NCT classes were really worth the money, but it was more because my nearest class had closed, so I had to go to one that was a 20-30min drive away, as so I didn't live close to the other mums. We last met up at around 6 months after the births.

Has anyone had any tugging feelings? Not sure if it's because I have an anterior placenta, but I sometimes feel a tugging or snapping feeling when I lean forward to stand up. It's not painful but uncomfortable. Google has sent me into a right panic!!

Ebbenmeowgi · 26/08/2016 07:35

I'm in the north west too! In Liverpool though originally from Manchester. Booked on hypno birthing course in Oct but looking to see if there are any books/cds I might want to get. First baby 😊

Minispringroll · 26/08/2016 10:37

Tinklypoo I used the Dylon ones and dyed the clothes in a bucket. (We've got a nice white sink...) Took about an hour per batch and then I rinsed them out quite a lot - several times with cold and then also with warm water and colour washing powder. Each little bag of dye does about 250g of cloth, so you have to weigh them before you start. You can also get special salt for it but I used the cheap table salt I had left over from a Science experiment I did with my class. I think I'll let them dry and then, when I've got a few more items of each colour, I'll put them through the washing machine. It's my first attempt, so we'll see what happens. Hmm Grin The purple took the longest to rinse out.

Lovewatching The Daisy Birthing website had a search function. The one in Weston also has a Facebook page. As far as I know, the next course starts on either Sunday, 2nd October (9.30am) or there are two on Wednesdays (starting 5th October, 6.15pm or 8pm). They are at Cowan House, down by the seafront (near Ellenborough Park).

SolomanDaisy · 26/08/2016 11:08

I love the bright baby clothes! We had vests in those colours from Tesco for DS. Can't remember what sizes though, I am waiting for it to cool down before I make it to the loft!

People who've had average size or small babies before, what size clothes do they wear for the first few weeks? DS was massive and went straight into 0-3, but I'm guessing smaller babies need newborn or 0-1? Which would you recommend?

Londonmamabychance · 26/08/2016 12:12

Anyone decided on co-sleepers? Or decided to go for traditional cribs with 4 sides? Had a co sleepwear with DD but stupidly got rid of it. Now need anew one and can't get myself to fork out what most f them cost..also not surewhich ones are good, last time had a no brand one from e bay which was quite expensive and big and wooden but very nice. Thinking maybe just to go for a normal crib this time and not worry so much about lifting in and out, or dangers of baby being in bed with me...what are your thoughts?

StubbleTurnips · 26/08/2016 12:48

london we're going for a babybay ordered from Amazon Germany as its 200+ here but they ship for free and it's only 140ish.

Cosleeper wise tHeres a Waldin on Amazon for about 70quid, and a Fabimax for about 100. Still not cheap for a crib for a few months. Alternatively one of the IKEA cots has a hack that can be done to make it a cosleeper.

The only options that you seem to be able to view in the uk seem to be the Chicco or a bednest type, which I think are dear for the price.

DD never slept in her Moses basket or antique crib (DH family heirloom) Hmm I want to avoid that with a cosleeper this time (we'll see).

Bigfam · 26/08/2016 13:16

We bought a second hand chicco and replaced the mattress (as advised) bought lots of stuff today, baby clothes are so expensive 😯 I'm kicking myself for giving away all of dd2's, she had some lovely stuff not planning any more dc but I'm keeping hold of everything this time Grin

Absolutely in love with bandana dribble bibs, they're so adorable and amazon have such a huge selection. You can never have too many bibs Wink

Thisisbonkers · 26/08/2016 13:23

I really want to give dying the baby gros ago. DP's mum has bought a load of plain white stuff. I'm tempted to get it from her and dye it 😈 (It's all plain white because she's miffed we haven't found out the sex, even though she's convinced it's a boy).

Bigfam · 26/08/2016 13:35

Me too thisisbonkers I fancy some really bright vests and babygro's instead of pastel pink

lilydaisyrose · 26/08/2016 14:32

This week has been a real milestone for me as I'm actually starting to believe this is happening - I am 25 weeks today (I know, slow on the uptake!). I've sorted out my maternity leave from work (last day Thurs 17/11 - 33 more days to work, annual leave then maternity leave then annual leave - due back on 9/1/18 if we can eeek it out that long!), DH has sorted his paternity leave and we've found a way financially to allow him to take the 2 weeks (1 @ statutory pay) + this will hopefully segway nicely into the school hols (he's a teacher) allowing him 4 weeks with us; and I've been leaking colostrum!!! Seems to finally be sinking in! This is fab for me as I haven't been able to get excited by buying things (baby very much on a budget) so am feeling more excited now!

Heartburn and middle-of-the-night leg cramps becoming more of an issue as I near trimester 3 but can't complain really.

StubbleTurnips · 26/08/2016 14:35

lily you've just made me think, when is the third trimester??

cnchapmanxx · 26/08/2016 14:38

stubble think it starts 27 weeks lovely! i know that because i fly back from turkey on 27 weeks and into the 3rd trimester!

lily thats good news cant beleive how quick time is flying im 23 weeks today, i just want to cry cant believe ive got this far! and that sounds so good you can squeeze til jan 18 off, think i might try for that but probably would use alllll my annual to do that then id be left from jan-june with no annual :(

Bigfam · 26/08/2016 14:50

27/28 weeks.
Speaking of heartburn, it's KILLING me today. I'm stuck at mil's baby sitting HER dad Hmm whilst she is out for the day. I usually take little sips of gaviscon during the day & didn't realise how much it was helping. My chest has been on fire since 10am 😢

Nojo82 · 26/08/2016 15:55

How many weeks will midwife take me seriously about reduced movement.

veryfriendlylion · 26/08/2016 16:18

Have you called and midwife dismissed you, Nojo? Can you try the maternity unit? That's rubbish that she isn't taking your seriously.

I got myself really down this week thinking I wasn't feeling the baby as much, but I think it's to do with the uterus climbing further. Before I could feel really strong movements below my belly button but now I have to lie in certain positions to get the little bugger moving. I also find that drinking lots of cold water helps!? If you're worried then persist...they say they take any report of movements seriously. Hope you're feeling ok Cake

Nojo82 · 26/08/2016 16:25

No haven't called. Was just wondering. I've felt baby move like 3 times today. Yesterday was leso than normal but more than today. I'm 22+5. Gona ring I think.
Oh just felt a small kick as I type lol

veryfriendlylion · 26/08/2016 16:37

I'm 22+4 and have been exactly the same! It's my time of day when I feel it that's changed (used to be in bed at night) so wonder if I'm not noticing it when I'm busy.

I hate being a nuisance with midwife so stupidly talk myself out of calling, and then baby ends up having a good kick. Always call if you're worried, though! Even just for reassurance...

Nojo82 · 26/08/2016 16:41

I hate calling too. I usually feel him in the morning before getting up. Mid afternoon and then in the evening and bed time. Not so much today.

Bigfam · 26/08/2016 17:21

Nojo82 I think you should call, for your own peace of mind as much as anything else, if you've noticed a marked change in regular movements, I'd do the same (I nearly did yesterday as well)

SolomanDaisy · 26/08/2016 17:36

I'd call if I was you, but I wouldn't worry too much. I think at that stage the pattern of movement changes a lot if they have changed position, and they can still do that easily.

goinggrey1978 · 26/08/2016 18:48

i'm so happy and relieved to say i've ordered all of bubbles large equipment now and it's come in on budget as well, got the silver cross pioneer with car seat in red for 685 in the end, also ordered white cot bed with the best mattress and a drawer underneath and lastly ordered the travel cot with bassinet, changing table and bouncer on the top as well, all delivered straight to my dad! so along with the chicco lullago crib we're all set now!!

Thisisbonkers · 26/08/2016 20:23

lily I finish on the 18th Nov and shouldn't be back until 2018 Grin

firawla · 26/08/2016 20:42

Didn't realise 3rd trimester is 27 weeks, well I hadn't really thought about it but omg that's so crazy that we're nearly at 3rd trimester already Shock - makes me feel unprepared!!!

StubbleTurnips · 26/08/2016 21:04

I hadn't realised it was that close either.

Nojo hope you're ok now.

Minispringroll · 26/08/2016 21:13

Nojo Has he picked up a little? The midwife told me to drink something cold and lie on my left side for a few hours...and then to call, if there's still very little movement.
Mine seems to be really getting into the swing of things. I started out feeling him only every 4-6 hours, but I'm now feeling him move throughout the day. I'm still on holiday, though, which means I can be lazy for most of the day (I spent most of today reading in my hammock outside in the garden). I'll probably be noticing him less when school starts again and I'm busy running around after other people's children. Grin
