Bumbleclat I feel the same! And with us not knowing the sex of the baby the suspense is killing me! Counting down the weeks left in work now, when is everyone starting mat leave? I optimistically though I could make it 37 weeks but this has now been altered to a more realistic 34 weeks haha

DartmoorDoughnut · 23/08/2016 09:20

Think I left work at 35 weeks with DS (he didn't turn up til 42 weeks mind you!) but I knew I wasn't going back so didn't have to worry about that side of it.

Oops had an early start this morning with a drive to Bristol at 5:30 had to take husband to work. Then I said to my DD lets lay in bed for 10mins and watch the iPad, this was an hour ago oops a nice hour nap.

My kicks are still low down it does feel strange, I'm 24weeks today where has that time gone?

Also cramp anyone else suffer with it over night? It's awful.

I'm away for two nights should I pack my notes in the car just in case?

Sorry about all the questions.

bumbleclat · 23/08/2016 09:40

lovewatching yes to cramp- awoken by the death grip on my legs ooh it's the worst pain ever, I can still hardly hop down the stairs after leg cramp nearly a week ago..

bumbleclat · 23/08/2016 09:40

And yes bring notes with you everywhere you go..

StubbleTurnips · 23/08/2016 10:29

I've just started taking my notes with me when I'm on the road.

Had my whooping cough vaccine and another UTI test.

Theaks · 23/08/2016 10:50

I start my mat leave a week before due date on Nov 20th but have 3 weeks A/L prior to that so last day is October 28th! 37 days left!!!!!!

cnchapmanxx · 23/08/2016 10:59

stubble how do you book the whooping cough vaccine is it with the GP or midwife? and does it knack your arm?

im planning to take mat leave on 1st dec so il be about 37 weeks. may bring it forward depends how i feel!

TipBoov · 23/08/2016 10:59

I start mat leave at 36 weeks, but I've got two weeks annual labe before that, so finish working at 34 weeks. It coincides with half term so makes sense for me to finish and spend the week with DS, rather than carry on working that week but pay for holiday club!

StubbleTurnips · 23/08/2016 11:08

Ah theaks thanks for the reminder to check my countdown..... 50 working days left (I do a 4d week). That feels good Grin

cnc I had a letter from the gp surgery, the practice nurse did it. It doesn't hurt yet, but last time I had a massive welt - so I'll let you know!!

BristolLFR · 23/08/2016 11:23

Ooh, fun game! 47 days left in the office (some hols in that time)

That's cheered me right up!

I've got a really achy uterus today (lovely). Kind of like period pain, but not crampy. I'm putting it dork to growing pains, but it's quite uncomfortable!

shopaholic85 · 23/08/2016 12:17

I start my mat leave at 30 weeks, because I've moved 3 hours from where I work and don't want to live away from DH when I'm heavily pregnant. If I hadn't moved I think I would have worked until at least 34 weeks. It's probably why I'm being unusually relaxed about buying things and getting prepared.

goinggrey1978 · 23/08/2016 14:09

I was going to go on maternity leave a month before my due date, I work in a school and Christmas is the best time of year in a school and don't want to miss too much, obviously this all depends on how the growth scan and consultant appointment go at 34weeks, so only 4 months of work left plus a half term break as well, not sure how many days it is but it's a 7week term til half term!!

ElodieS · 23/08/2016 15:47

rainfall I don’t know how you have managed with washing your hair over the bath, kudos to you – hope the electrician turned up in the end and you got to have a nice long shower!

Thankfully I’m neither hating nor adoring DH at the moment, I’m not sure he’d know what hit him if I was. I may have to kill him if he doesn’t get a move on with some bits of DIY he’s been “doing” for about the last year though.

Glad to hear you’re growing in confidence notaclue, it sounds like they’re doing pretty well! Smile

I’m really lusting after the whole range from here Leander www.leander.com/ we had the cots/beds for DTs and they have been amazing, but it seems a bit excessive to go the whole hog… Good deals at Mamas and Papas as well though, thanks firawla! I was planning to re-use matresses though bonkers and turnips… eek!

Yes to lovely kicks all over now bigfam and bumble, it’s so nice isn’t it? DTs love feeling them too. Smile

I reckon I’ve got 52 working days left until maternity leave, it’s going so fast now! Grin

TipBoov · 23/08/2016 16:18

Taking into account annual leave and time off for appointments, I have 29 days left st work! Grin

cnchapmanxx · 23/08/2016 17:19

oh god all this talk about mat leave made me count down the days i have left and it works out to be 64 days if i leave on the 1st dec or 56 days if i leave on the 18th nov! either way i cannot wait! also got a cheeky week of in sept as we fly to turkey.. then one for DH birthday! times going so quick! Shock

Bigfam · 23/08/2016 17:32

I am absolutely pooped, went swimming with dd1 and dd3.

Ds' swelling seems to be getting worse, it's now affecting how far he can open his mouth. If it's too swollen they won't be able to inject for anasthetic surely? 😣

Minispringroll · 23/08/2016 18:54

37 working days left. I'm leaving at half term and mat leave starts officially the week term 2 starts. goinggrey I'm on purpose trying to avoid the Christmas term. It tends to be manic and I didn't want to hand over to a new teacher at that point in the year. However, SLT have found someone else to take my class so I won't be doing any class teacher bits now anyway. (I'm not quite sure what I'm doing for those 7 weeks...just know I'll be with Year 6. I like Year 6. Grin )
Midwife appointment tomorrow and then whooping cough vaccination on Thursday. We'll see how it all goes. Bump has been growing quite happily and the little alien inside me is moving around ok.

becciandbump · 23/08/2016 19:17

53 days left at work for me Smile

TinyTickler · 23/08/2016 20:08

I'm planning to work until a week before my due date. That's not totally crazy is it?!

goinggrey1978 · 23/08/2016 20:42

Minispringroll, i'm just SEN 1:1 support for a lovely little lad in year 4, the most harm i'll come to is him squeezing me to death he's very lovable and sweet and doesn't yet know that i'm pregnant nor does the rest of the class, i'm very lucky as i have a very supportive senior management team at my school, including all the incredibly supportive lst's that i also have the pleasure to work with!!

Minispringroll · 23/08/2016 21:06

going "My" new class don't know, yet. They had me for transition day and aren't aware that I won't actually be their teacher. I only told my previous class that I was pregnant about a week before the summer holidays.
It might be a bit easier when you've only really one to worry about. I had a few "health and safety" issues in my old class...lots of running around, kicking, hitting and throwing things. (I just tried to stay out of the way.) Should be easier this way, when I don't have a class to worry about. Hopefully also means less planning and marking in the the last few weeks.

Tiny I guess it depends on how you are feeling by then. I understand lots of people trying to start as late as possible because that means they get more time with the baby afterwards. In my case, my return date is set and independent of when I start my mat leave.

goinggrey1978 · 23/08/2016 21:17

Minispringroll, yes there was a few issues with lively children but all the staff around me know and i was directly told by one member of senior management to keep an eye out for one very angry young man one lunch time but to go anywhere near him just in case, this is where i'm very lucky that everyone i work with will quickly appear and take over if a child needs to be restrained or removed from a situation!!
i'm not when or how to tell my class, any suggestions??

bumbleclat · 23/08/2016 21:36

I'm so confused about maternity leave.
I am due on 21st Dec and my school term ends in 21st!
I thought I'd try to go right up to the last day but now I'm thinking that's crazy!
HR couldn't answer questions I had about pay.
My head teacher reckons that if I go up to the very last day I'll get paid for the holidays then my MP will start but that's not right is it, MP kicks in the Sunday after you give birth.
Confused

I get 9 months paid MLP then would have to go back in September 2017 part time but not sure if it's worth going back part time before the summer holidays to be paid over the summer.
I wonder if my Union could help me make sense of it all.
