Hannah I had a home birth with birthing pool with my first and it was wonderful. It felt magical taking our newborn little girl up to bed with us, it felt like we'd already been doing it. I'm planning a home birth again with my second and hope it'll be just as magical!

Oxlady · 13/08/2016 22:35

My 20 week scan went really well yesterday and we're having a girl! She was getting herself into some awkward positions, the sonographer had fun getting the measurements and pictures! I saw baby girl drinking too which was crazy amazing!

Has a Facebook group been started?

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 07:34

Congrats on finding out you're having a girl oxlady 😊

ElodieS · 14/08/2016 09:25

Congratulations oxlady!

I'd love to have a homebirth hannah, but I'm expecting a bit of a battle just to have a natural hospital water birth. The idea of just being able to go to bed in your own bed after giving birth is lovely, especially if you've got older kiddies about too. Provided you're low risk, the only downside I see is having to clean up and faff about with emptying pool etc yourself... Definitely get your DP wise to that!

We're off to Brighton for the day today, should be really lovely once we get there but why oh why is getting out such a nightmare?! I've been up for 3 hours and we've only just left for the train, DD1 has left her hat on a wall (Hmm) by the post office and DD2 needs to pee. It'll only be easier with three, right?! Confused

firawla · 14/08/2016 09:37

My next apt is 28 weeks too, I have midwife and another gtt. Then I have consultant and a growth scan at 34 weeks if they don't book in anything else. It does seem like quite a way off but tbh, I'd rather go the rest of the summer holidays without more trips to the hospital as its a bit of a pain to keep sorting out childcare and everything takes forever at my hospital so I'm there half a day each time!

Thanks for the sale link stubbleturnips I will check that out! I ordered a few baby clothes in the h&m and Tesco sales they had some really good prices - cute dresses for about 2-3 quid etc!

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 10:02

This is my best bargain yet (because it's free!!!!!) If you're with amazon prime! (You have to be a paying customer, If you're on a free trial cancel it then pay £7.99 to start your prime membership, which is exactly what I did) it's also worth starting a live chat with an amazon prime representative. Anyway this is long but so worth it....
Anyway use this link www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0182C6GOQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1471157955&sr=8-2&keywords=baby+boxπ=SX200_QL40

You then CREATE A BABY WISH LIST add it to the baby wish list and place the order, after you've placed it, it should refund the full price on your orders page. Like I said though, get a live chat going and if there's any problems they will refund it and still send you the order. It's worth £46 Grin I'm buzzing haha

goinggrey1978 · 14/08/2016 10:04

I have 4 more appointments coming up from September, midwife at 25weeks, anti d injection and check up at 28weeks, thyroid and baby doctors at 29weeks and growth scan and consultant at 34weeks linked to my thyroid, midwife said my appointments with her would be every 3weeks from 25weeks and then every 2weeks, so I'm going to be busy with all these appointments and no doubt regular blood tests too!!

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 10:08

Here's my order, showing you it's completely free. Loads of really good stuff in there too 😆😆😆😆😆

Bigfam you are the bargain queen! Smile I'm going to get on it tomorrow, thank you!

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 10:26

I know I know. This one's a little bit exciting though 😂

DartmoorDoughnut · 14/08/2016 10:48

That's awesome Bigfam will sort that when I get home!

I have a midwife appt tomorrow, 24 week check.

Thanks bigfam - I followed the instructions and ordered the box but was charged for it - live chat waived the charge and it'll be delivered on Tue.

Looks like a great little box! Grin

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 10:57

It's easier if you do it on a computer, because if you add the baby box & another item to your baby wish list, an option then becomes available to claim the box for free rather than going through live chat. I did it through live chat and it wasn't too much hassle though Smile

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 11:00

That's what I did TipBoov I've got all the emails with the chat transcript and the order saying the total is £0. It looks like the sleepyhead might be a hit and miss with which orders they'll actually honour, so hope this makes up for it Smile

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 17:56

Got another one for you ladies 😆
If you buy anything from babymori.com/ - no spend limit and put in send-me-a-blanket when you go through to purchase you get a free blanket worth £19

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/08/2016 19:35

thanks for the top tips bigfam, just getting the box now. Glad I had live chat already going, as they charged me £46. She did say I needed to order from my laptop (which I did), but it still charged me. They're amending the price their end.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 14/08/2016 19:52

Not sure why people are getting charged for the Amazon deal. I did it last night, the idea is you are a paying Prime/family member and have items in your baby wish list. I wouldn't put the 'free' item on your wish list, just a couple of other bits. Then from a desktop/laptop login to Amazon, click on your baby wish list (from the wish list drop down) and a 'claim free gift box' will appear on the same page as your wish list. No need for you to speak to an Amazon representative, mine was added straight to my basket and I checked out without a hitch. Hope this helps others! Please don't pay for the box, its intention is to be free for paying prime members! Smile

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 20:11

stripeyorangesocks71 I would have had to pay because I was only on prime trial membership, I had to sign up and pay £7.99 to get it. But I love prime & I found the prime now app today, you can get same day delivery (if your postcode allows)

stripeyorangesocks71 · 14/08/2016 20:18

Yeah it's the paying prime member I was trying to emphasise Smile I've only recently paid for the full year membership, figured I may as well now whilst I can afford it before maternity leave and pay! That way if me or baby need anything quickly I can have it ordered for same/next day delivery. Also worth checking out the Amazon music too, I enjoy that! Smile

Azure83 · 14/08/2016 20:45

bigfam you will ruin me! Grin I just ordered a mori blanket so now I'll get two! I'm less fussed about new baby clothes but these will be useful for ages! Now need to get DH to work the magic on his amazon prime account...

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 20:55

stripeyorangesocks71 it's definitely worth it isn't it? I didn't think so before but it has everything! I've ordered so much stuff in the past couple of weeks Grin

Haha Azure83 my sincere apologies 😉
I'll have to namechange to bargainbigfam!

BristolLFR · 14/08/2016 20:59

What counts as 24 weeks? Just reading my baby book and it says at 23w1d that your baby is then legally viable. That is technically start of 24th week, but I'd assumed it would be as at 24w, not week commencing (if that makes sense?!)

Baby is absolutely fine (I hope) was more just curious as that's the next big milestone for me and will be this week if the book is right :)

stripeyorangesocks71 · 14/08/2016 21:05

Bigfam sure is! Be sure to try out the Amazon tv part of it as well! I'm defo like you with the bargain hunting though.. Always shop around for the best prices and deals!

Does anyone know when the next baby events will be held in supermarkets or what time of year they are usually held? Seems I always spotted them when I wasn't pregnant but now I am there seems to be no sign of them!

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/08/2016 21:15

stripey for some reason that didn't work for me, maybe because I already had items in my wish list? Anyway, all sorted now.

I've also ordered a baby monitor through the warehouse deal, saving £50!

Bigfam · 14/08/2016 21:16

stripeyorangesocks71 asda is the 18th of August & boots have one the 17th.
We've got sky at the moment but thinking of cancelling it, I can't justify the monthly bill over £120+ 😮 so I'll keep amazon in mind, thanks ☺
