stubble that's a company policy, it can start in any day. If it's a pain to work around, then just say you'll start it later, then go off sick for huge few days before. Any preg sickness after 36 weeks automatically starts your mat leave, so could be any day Wink

Hannahcarp27 · 12/08/2016 18:41

Has anyone had a home water birth? Would I be mad to do this for my first?

lilydaisyrose · 12/08/2016 18:43

Hannah, it's not a popular subject on MN - but I had a home water birth for my first (and second and am planning my third) - so no, I don't think you're mad! Go for it!!

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 18:53

Hannah I say go for it as well. I really wish I had the guts to have a home birth, the water bit I've done twice, that's good 😆

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 19:37

Bristol I've asked HR to point exactly where it says Sunday start until their policy or HMRC guidance.

It only poses an issue as I was going to go on my EDD, but have 3 weeks leave before. I have a major audit at the end of November so limited on when I can take my leave. If I have an extra 5 days leave to take between now and then it won't happen, were also in the process of being takenover so I can see my leave disappearing if it doesn't get used Hmm

SolomanDaisy · 12/08/2016 20:15

Hannah, I had a home birth with my first and it was brilliant! If you're low risk, there's no reason not to.

Eskerina81 · 12/08/2016 21:59

Hannah my friend had a home water birth with her first and had a really good experience. I'm planning a home birth again this time, but probably not with a pool as I imagine it would be hard to keep dd out of it!

veryfriendlylion · 12/08/2016 22:12

I am so jealous! Desperately want a home birth but DH and I are houseparents in a boarding school so wouldn't want to risk baby coming early and traumatising the boarders as our house is within the boys/girls sections.

Very keen to go for water birth option if possible in hospital, though. Do most places have limited number of baths?

Sorry to be dim, but where do we get the MATB1? I feel silly constantly asking my midwife 'obvious' questions as she knows I'm a nurse...not sure why that matters but I have irrational baby brain.

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 22:16

very you get it from your midwife at your 20w ish appointment. I forgot to ask for mine so went back today for it, as it has to be in within the next couple of weeks so I was panicking.

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 22:17

veryfriendlylion the hospital I'm going to this time has 2 pools, the last hospital only 1. Hoping to use one again this time around.

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 22:24

When do you all see your mw again? She's put in my notes she'll see me at 24 weeks, but the actual date she wrote was the end of September when I'm 28 weeks. I did text but got no reply...

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 22:36

I'm back at 28w too, seems ages off.

veryfriendlylion · 12/08/2016 22:53

Thanks bigfam and stubble.

I see my midwife at 25 weeks as it's my first pregnancy, I think she said if I'd had previous she wouldn't be seeing me til 28 weeks.

Haven't seen anyone since 16 weeks so I've felt a bit of a lull in baby excitement although you can now feel movement from the outside of my tummy which is exciting/kept me up last night.

BristolLFR · 12/08/2016 23:17

hannah I'm planning a home birth for my first. I only live 5 mins from the hospital, and the midwife led unit is actually another 25 mins (hour in rush hour!) in the opposite direction, so it makes more sense to me to be at home than go there. If I need to be transferred then I'm closer anyway, and at least that way I definitely get a water birth

Is anyone still really struggling with energy? I always feel wobbly mid morning and get out of breath really easily Blush

DartmoorDoughnut · 13/08/2016 12:25

I'm dragging today, 2nd (or 3rd?!) day of 5:30 starts and my DH is away for 2 weeks so no breaks Confused nap time coming up for DS and thinking I might stay in bed with him!

OP posts:
SouthDownsSunshine · 13/08/2016 13:01

I find my energy levels just crash, after just the tiniest bit of exercise, even if it's just taking dd to the park. Eating regularly and drinking lots helps. My sleep is definitely into the disturbed patch now, frequent wakings and a struggle to get back to sleep.

It'll all be worth it though!

Bigfam · 13/08/2016 13:51

I can't stop tidying and it completely knackers me out! Yesterday dd3 (only 18months) was relentless, she woke at 6.30am and didn't sleep until 8.30pm last night, she was so over tired, she had a half hour nap at midday, but it's made no difference to her bad mood 😧

bumbleclat · 13/08/2016 17:00

tipboov I've been breathless too! I'm not overweight and am only 21 weeks Confused
Yes to the tiredness too I'm so tired all the time.

BristolLFR · 13/08/2016 17:06

Snap bigfam! I had the day off yesterday and was supposed to be resting. Instead I went through all my drawers and wardrobes sorting stuff to go to the charity shop/ eBay vs in to the loft. Anything I hoped to get in to again has be put in to vac pack bags and suctioned ready for the loft. Plus 2 idea bags to the charity shop! Very cathartic, but I was knackered by the end!

And now my wardrobe looks empty with only maternity stuff in it!

BristolLFR · 13/08/2016 17:07

*ikea not idea?!

Bigfam · 13/08/2016 17:43

It's annoying isn't it Bristol? My body's telling me to rest but I just keep thinking about de- cluttering and organising everything😕

bumbleclat, the breathlessness is my absolute worst part of being pregnant, it usually happens when I'm a bit further along but I'm feeling it already, it's not from moving about or anything, literally just the baby growing and squashing everything north! I get really panicky and deep breath but still feel like I can't get enough air 😣

Firsttimer16 · 13/08/2016 19:06

Has anyone else started having Braxton Hicks contractions yet? Twice I've felt my lower stomach and it's like there's a rock hard ball there, which has later disappeared. A bit of googling says this is normal from 20 weeks, but having never had one before not sure if this is it! I can't feel anything apart from with my hands from the outside, doesn't hurt at all. Anyone on their second - what did yours feel like?

Bigfam · 13/08/2016 19:52

I had bad Braxton hicks in my last pregnancy (4th) they were really quite uncomfortable and regular, so much so that I went in twice and they monitered me because of how frequent they were.
