Sue to be fair quill answered the question by saying no and explaining why, that's just her opinion and wasn't directed at you personally (at least that's not how I interpreted it).
I'm not a fan of baby showers either, each to their own. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable celebrating until baby is safely here, but I have my own issues there, I am still struggling to even admit to my closest friends that I am pg as I feel like I'm going to jinx it. Bit difficult to have a baby shower when no-one knows you're pg! The idea of going out for a nice meal or something low key with friends is lovely given you'll soon be too busy for a while, but it's more the modern concept that seems to be gaining popularity I'm not keen on, somehow they've become flashy and unnecessarily over the top with games etc like a hen do. But I'm not a fan of that kind of hen do either, perhaps I'm just a miserable sod Wink.

bigfam I caved and bought a bag, you need to stop feeding me bargains now ;).

I'm feeling really sad tonight, a friend who was pregnant just told me she'd had her fifth mc last night, I'm gutted for her, she had a good scan at 7 weeks last week Sad. She's now going to have to wait to recover before going back to ivf. Life is so bloody unfair sometimes.

Thequilltosurvive · 12/08/2016 06:14

Thanks Barking, glad you took my post in the spirit it was intended Grin

That sounds like a nice idea Lily, especially the cake bit!

Thequilltosurvive · 12/08/2016 06:22

Sorry to hear about your friend Barking. This conception business can be so unfair. We have a few friends who are struggling and I just feel awful for them (and quite guilty that we've had it relatively straightforward so far). The irony is that they'd make the absolute best parents of everyone I know.

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 07:30

You love it really barking, hopefully mine's arriving later so I'll add some pictures 😉
How sad to hear about your friend as well, you're right life can be bloody unfair to the best of people, I wish her all the best in the future.

23 weeks today, I keep thinking that I've bought quite a lot, but then I think about what's left to buy and it makes my head hurt! 😧

goinggrey1978 · 12/08/2016 09:06

Bigfam, I agree, I think I have bubbles whole 0-3 wardrobe now, apart from lemon and white socks, mostly sourced on local 2nd hand selling sites on fb and charity shops, hopefully I'll drop it all off to my mum later for her to check and approve, just have to get crib and pram mattress protectors and a couple of flat sheets and the small bubble equipment is done!! Then it's roll on bank holiday sales for crib, travel cot, cotbed and travel system with car seat all of which will get delivered directly to my dad and I'm done and will be back to work by then too, only another 2nd hand isofix base for my parents car to source after that!!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 12/08/2016 10:43

Wow BigFam my bag has arrived it's amazing and cute. And bigger then I thought it would be. Totally in love. Thank you for the source.

Now I need to get buying and sorting. Have started a list of lists.

All I mainly need now is sleep I have had 5hours sleep in the last 3 days and I'm so tired.

Sorry to hear about all what people are going through with family members

goinggrey1978 · 12/08/2016 10:50

bigfam thanks for the discount code for boots just ordered my Chicco LullaGo Crib - Silver, with it and got boots points as well and free delivery directly to my dad as well!

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 10:54

Lovewatchingrainfall mine's out for delivery, I'm a little bit excited too Smile is it too big to use as a changing bag (bearing in mind I'll have a 22month old as well?)
I need to start a list as well, I've just ordered two growbags from amazon, they're not cheap but definitely better than blankets. Smile

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 10:54

goinggrey1978 that's ok 😄

Lovewatchingrainfall · 12/08/2016 11:03

BigFam I would say that it would be too big, but you can judge when it arrives. Just depends on how much stuff you will need.

TinyTickler · 12/08/2016 11:19

I'm really irrationally upset today - I have a weird lump on my tummy which is probably nothing but could also be something sinister so have to have an urgent appointment to have it removed.

Had numerous missed calls from an unknown number yesterday whilst at work, no messages left. Was told to call my gp if I didn't have an apt by today, so did so this morning and the receptionist was unbelievably rude.

Basically told me that there was a cancellation yesterday so the hospital had tried to call me, and that I had wasted their time by being unable to answer the phone. when I said they hadn't left a message otherwise I would have returned their call I was basically called a liar, and she says there's no way she can contact the hospital for me, and I should just assume they will call me back to arrange at some point.

It really pees me off when people are unnecessarily rude - clearly I'm not trying to waste anyone's time!

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 11:29

Tiny that's not irrational, I'd have lost my shit over that!! Might be worth a call to the hospital PALS team.

Can't wait for my hold-all now
They had snugswaddles in home bargains if anyone has them near, 2.99 each in pink / blue / beige. GroSwaddles or SwaddleMes are between 10-20quid each new.

I've sorted through DDs things and put aside a pile for charity, pile to keep and a pile to dye blue; plus got a buggy board for our travel system off ebay and a changing bag that I'd hampered after.

Will need a sit down after all of that.

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 12:17

bigfam love the holdall, it's much bigger than I thought it'd be! Thanks for the link Flowers

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 12:31

I'm glad everyone likes them 😊did you get the larger size for £14? If it's nice I might also order the smaller one 😉

Lovewatchingrainfall · 12/08/2016 12:50

This is the £14 poppy one. My DD loved sitting in it. I think the smaller one would be a perfect changing bag

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 13:13

Got the £14 poppy one, slightly wish I'd got the blue daisy one for 19 but I was being tight!! I think love is right, the smaller one would be ideal changing bag size.

Bigfam · 12/08/2016 13:29

Well on that basis I'll be ordering the smaller one for a changing bag I think 😆

DartmoorDoughnut · 12/08/2016 14:59

I don't like my current change bag, thinking of getting a backpack to keep all the kit for two in. Anyone got any recommendations? Going to keep nappies etc in separate bags in there, need to get organised Grin

ElodieS · 12/08/2016 15:28

I haven't even started to think about changing bags yet, waaah!

Is anyone renovating/decorating or changing rooms around before LO arrives? We're in a 4 bed house, but the bedrooms are spread over 2 floors with DTs currently sharing the room next to ours and two spare bedrooms upstairs - can't figure out where to put everyone when the baby arrives, even though we have plenty of space!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 12/08/2016 15:38

i love the pink lining back packs. but they can be expensive,

If anyone needs baby wipes. On amazon you can get 18 packs of Johnson baby wipes for £10.50

we currently live in a 2 bed flat so baby will stay in with us and then when a year old we will put in with our DD and they will have the bigger room and we will have the smaller room, DH is not 100% happy with this but he knows it will be for the best.

StubbleTurnips · 12/08/2016 15:49

I got a babymel stripey satchel bag that I desperately wanted with DD, got it for a tenner on eBay! Well pleased.

Anyone had the maternity leave conversations yet now MATB1 forms have gone in? I'm being told that I have to start maternity leave on a Sunday, my due date is a Friday.

And I'm sure this wasn't the case last time. Stupid HR.

BristolLFR · 12/08/2016 15:51

Thanks for the tip stubble, just picked up a couple of the swaddles

Nojo82 · 12/08/2016 17:02

I found lovely changing bags on fb. They are all handmade but are quite pricey. My very close friend has offered to buy it for me. The page is called 'exclusively by christine'..

DartmoorDoughnut · 12/08/2016 17:03

My current one is a Babymel, it's fine just want something more 'me' plan on wearing this one for the first 6 months or so which means a backpack would be fine but after that he'll hopefully go on my back which makes it all awkward Grin

On and swaddle wise I found the ones with the zips AMAZING as the velcro ones were so noisy and didn't stay on if he really went for it!

DartmoorDoughnut · 12/08/2016 17:04

By 'wearing this one' I mean the baby not the bag ... Grin
