Gnat - fingers crossed this is it! I did chuckle at your dilemma/confusion re the different "juices" (great word!). Enjoy your upright nap!

Anna - thinking of you as ever, and sending you hugs x

I did an online grocery delivery order last night. I may have got carried away and inadvertently ordered more oat products than we could possibly fit in our cupboards - oops. Flapjack, anyone?

Just seen the consultant. All fine. Apparently the baby's head is "so far down it's unreal" (1/5). That'll explain the dislocated-hips feeling then... His head is quite small (30th percentile) and his shoulders/tummy are quite large (90th percentile) which might mean I've got a tough second push once the head's come out 😳 Sounds as if he takes after DH who has massive shoulders! I've been booked in for an induction at 40+6 (before those shoulders get even bigger - ha!) - although I can always cancel/postpone it if I want.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

39 today

Cheery1 · 12/07/2016 11:13

Ooo julf that's good news that baby so engaged! My lazy LO isn't engaged at all though sweep yesterday seems to have done something and Bishops score now off the mark. Currently had first round of gel for induction and on the monitor. Relaxing and looking forward to ring able to have a walk soon. Come on baby!!!

gnat all sounds promising anyway! Good luck xx

dats · 12/07/2016 11:41

There's so much going on!!!!

julfin forgot to say - I'm in Sussex. Lovely day today though! Cracked up at your oversupply of oats! I did an online shop this morning too. Already have a list of things I need to add to it. May have to add oat based products! My furniture assembly skillz have nothing on your 30 min power walk!!! I can't power walk for 30 seconds! My kitchen unit assembly is being done while sitting on the sofa and having the unit on a table in front of me! I've got it down to a fine art!

Come on baby Cheery!!!! How are you feeling? You sound super chilled - yay!

gnat, def have an upright snooze before juice-monitoring ConfusedGrin

I'm having a bloody lovely day. DD is at nursery and DP is fitting kitchen units. I've already done all the washing up/sorted laundry/grocery shop/arranged the freezer/bought a hob and decided on a sink. It's quite good spending money when you absolutely have to!

dats, 39+2

gnat99 · 12/07/2016 11:49

Hi Cheery, ta very much - your update sounds very promising! Yay for astronomical Bishop score. Enjoy your wander and keep us posted. You sound nice and chirpy Smile

Julfin, wonderful news that your appointment went so well. I know well that dislocated hips feeling. They tell you to walk, but it's hard to do it with a baby head stuck right down your you-know-what! 1/5 engaged is what I was last week, although the stupid new midwife wrote 4/5 on my notes (she definitely meant 1/5). Great to have the induction booked. What are you planning for the rest of today?

IMO there is no such thing as too many flapjacks. I had in mind to make some today, but it's not very compatible with enforced sitting.

I have managed amazingly to stay awake while sitting, although all the enforced sitting has done is give me more backache. No 'pooled juices' so far Grin so maybe more waiting - and walking, bouncing, RLT - will be in order for the rest of the day. DH is off today and has promised me pancakes in a bit Smile. Just 30 minutes more sitting to go!

Anna, thinking of you and your mum Flowers

40+6

julfin · 12/07/2016 12:49

Cheery - Great news about your Bishops score! How have you found the sweep(s)? Come on baby Cheery!

Dats - glad you're having such a productive day! I've got similarly ambitious plans for my afternoon - hmm we'll see how that goes! My power-walking habit is largely due to my own disorganisation - I'm always running 5 mins late. And round here it's quicker to walk than get public transport. You'd think I'd have learnt my lesson after yesterday's excruciating experience, but no, I found myself power-walking to the hospital again today. Still, doesn't seem to have done any harm for the baby's engagement - no pain no gain!

Gnat - I'd rather you didn't talk about flapjacks and "pooled juices" in consecutive sentences please 😬
I have all sorts of glamorous plans for today, including cleaning various baby items that my friend has very kindly lent me for the next 9+ months (car seat, pushchair, bouncer - she's an absolute gem!), laundry, filing, sorting my cupboards, and repacking my hospital bag (and when I say "repacking", I really mean "packing", if I'm totally honest). Despite a heavenly morning, it's now tipping it down, which makes nesting seem like a very appealing/comforting activity 😊

So, a new prime minister tomorrow!

julfin · 12/07/2016 12:56

God I could murder some salami right now

Cheery1 · 12/07/2016 12:57

Hi ladies,

dats I'm ok - I'm resigned that I'm in for the long haul! Been listening to my hypnobirthing CD and relaxing with DH who's being lovely. Slightly snxious about what's to come but who wouldn't be! Keep calm and come on baby!!

gnat relax while you can I say!

Cheery1 · 12/07/2016 12:59

Just missed you julf - sweep totally fine - smear test worse and if you've had an iud fitted, it's a picnic. Just breathe and relax if you can. Power walking will put you in good stead I reckon!

dats · 12/07/2016 13:41

Cheery good stuff - and good to hear you're doing ok!

julfin if you're planning on washing the car seat cover, try and lay as flat as poss to dry and not hanging up, like I did - ended up with all sorts of horrible water marks that I had to sponge off. Annoying.

gnat99 · 12/07/2016 13:45

Sounds good Cheery! Hypnobirthing is another of those things I meant to get around to and haven't... Hope the CD helps.

Julfin I am a fellow power walker - it's hard to switch off years of habit! Hope you get salami at some point... Enjoy your afternoon of organising. I took out our car seat again (also given us by a close friend) the other day and decided to wash the cover - then was instantly terrified I would go into labour and have baby before it was dry and reassembled! Thankfully I've got away with it.

New prime minister indeed - can't believe the latest in the chain of unexpected events. I keep thinking it's just as well we are distracted by the imminent arrival of our little treasures, because the country really is in a dire state of affairs at the moment.

Dats I think our messages crossed, didn't see yours till now. You are on an incredible roll! Very impressive :) I would love a productive afternoon if I can sum up the energy. Having failed to nap I suspect it may not quite come to pass.

Unfortunately, shortly before my enforced morning 'sit' was due to come to an end, the electrician arrived unexpectedly to look at a broken light fitting - in the hallway outside our bedroom. So instead of leaping into action around the house as planned, I ended up hiding in the bedroom in my pjs for 90 mins longer, listening to DH making small tallk and passing tools, while I got increasingly hungry, stiff and stressed, thinking about all the things I needed to do, but reluctant to squeeze out past them and the ladder and face conversation. Very unlike me. Had to resort to eating the emergency cereal bar from my handbag!

Free to roam again now, electrician has gone and we have working lights again - it was worth it. Just about. Lunch time now, hooray! Or maybe just pancakes.

No sign of much 'collection' after my four hours of sitting. So I guess not much happening for now. Although I still do feel quite achey.

gnat99 · 12/07/2016 13:47

Oops, just missed you again Dats - *rushes off to inspect car seat for water marks!

mascaraisamust · 12/07/2016 13:51

I've not even had the gel yet cheery! It's going to be a lonnnnng day.

Cheery1 · 12/07/2016 13:57

Oh mascara! Hope you've got snacks and entertainment. Xx

mascaraisamust · 12/07/2016 14:03

Still on the ctg, they want to review it. Had a little sleep but been here since 7 Sad

Cheery1 · 12/07/2016 14:30

Hope you get a decision soon mascara, the waiting is the worst. Are they thinking of giving you more time to labor naturally?

MrsRolly · 12/07/2016 14:48

Oh Mascara how frustrating! Hope they sort you out soon and you have lots to do in the meantime to keep you busy

Cheery sounding positive - hope you get to walk around soon

Gnat & Julfin I am in awe of your ability to still powerwalk, when walking alone I think I am walking at a normal pace until I walk with my DD and DH at what would be our normal pace and I fall far behind ha ha

Agree on the distraction front Gnat it has truly been the strangest few weeks..

Dats I agree we recently did lots of decorating and I was quite disturbed by how exciting I found buying mundane things!!

The sweep has dislodged my mucus plug (sorry tmi) this morning so going to take DD to the park after school and walk around the field see if I can get any movements going!!

mascaraisamust · 12/07/2016 14:57

Sweep and gel given, finally. I'm only 1cm but they could feel a head. Now time to wait it out!

gnat99 · 12/07/2016 15:24

Sorry you had to wait so long Mascara. At least you're on the way to some action now, fingers crossed! And again for you too Cheery :)

pulpi · 12/07/2016 15:28

Just got back from my daily walk up to the market. Definitely felt the baby trying to make downward motions. 2.5 km later and I am absolutely shattered.

mascara - excellent news that they could feel the head! Not much longer now and you'll be having newborn snuggles.

MrsRolly - Any movements?

Gnat - I had almost convinced myself that nothing was happening and the past few weeks were just a dream. The announcement yesterday threw me a bit and I found myself feeling very, very anxious about our future here. Hormonal pregnancy brain does not like all this uncertainty, a fact which I cannot believe the government is not taking into account when making decisions. The nerve.

Juflin - that's a packed morning! All I managed was porridge, instant coffee, and a shower and I already felt like that made a full day of activity. About the salami, I snuck a bit of serrano ham yesterday and it was divine. I figure this far into the pregnancy, a slice of serrano ham can't do any harm. I don't know why I don't think this also applies to a nice, thick slice of brie de meaux and a glass of Rioja...

Cheery1 · 12/07/2016 15:38

Come on babies!

Cookiesandcoffee · 12/07/2016 15:50

Good luck cheery and mascara !! I had lots of waiting around / monitoring / nothing really happening during my day of induction. Typically it all started kicking off about 9/10pm when I was fed up/tired. Routing for you both!!

Sending love and thinking of you anna

Hoping bluebell and bird are staring at their lovely newborns Flowers

julfin · 12/07/2016 16:15

Dats - thanks for the drying advice. I've just woken up from an impromptu nap and am glad I checked the thread before I rushed off to hang up the cover... (Actually not sure I'm rushing anywhere right now - still feeling pretty sleepy...)

Rolly - I think we're way beyond needing to apologise for TMI, especially now that we've heard about Gnat's "juices" in such wonderful detail... Good to hear that your sweep has been productive! Ha ha yes "power-walking" is all relative - it feels like I walk quickly, but nowadays when I'm with DH I have to jog to keep up, like a little panting Labrador!

Gnat - ha ha, love the image of you cowering from the electrician and eating all your emergency rations! Laughed so hard I choked.

Gnat / Rolly / Pulpi - Agree re the state of affairs our country is in, although I feel (very slightly) more optimistic now that we've got May in charge. Not sure if anyone can successfully navigate our way out of this mess, but I think she's a safer pair of hands than most. Political opinions aside, as a leader/individual she seems strong, capable, decisive and a tough negotiator, which is what the country needs right now. I'm debating whether to pull out of my Nct coffee meet-up tomorrow in order to watch PMQs and the political coverage as Cameron & May each go and meet the queen... (Politics geek.) Pulpi - I'm sorry that this whole mess leaves you in such a state of uncertainty.

Pulpi - I have done literally zero of the things on my To Do list so far this afternoon, apart from put the car seat cover in the bath for a soak. I have however had a lovely nap 😊 Yes I've been going slightly rogue on the dietary front too in the last couple of weeks - a glass of wine has slipped down-range on a handful of occasions, as did some chorizo - until someone told me about someone having a miscarriage at 8.5 months after catching listeria - I'm being good again after hearing that Confused

Cheery - glad to hear sweep not too ghastly.

Mascara - hope things get moving for you soon! Keep yourself busy!

MrsRolly · 12/07/2016 17:14

Nothing more exciting than more mucus.. who knew there was so much! Have been walking and may go out again after tea but not holding out much hope for imminent labour..

Julfin - Slightly jealous of your nap, I haven't napped today but still got no jobs done instead of doing the shopping and buying cat food I went for a lovely doing walk of laps of the park with my pal while DD played

I am hoping that is the case with May we do indeed need a pragmatic negotiator but am not 100% convinced.. will also be watching tomorrow wondering if David Cameron will skip away from the palace with joy.

Cheery & Mascara hope things are progressing nicely and we have more cute baby pics to look at soon :)

gnat99 · 12/07/2016 17:35

Julfin, yes I agree that May is a far better option than some, and sooner is better than later. But like Pulpi, I feel the uncertainty is not helping - being Irish I am a lot more secure than you, Pulp, but it's still not a nice feeling.

I almost had some yummy looking Bleu d'Auvergne we bought from the cheese counter at French market on Saturday - then remembered a similar story from work about cheese at 8.5 months leading to listeriosis and miscarriage... So have regretfully left that to DH to enjoy.

Cheery and Mascara - am thinking of you. And dying of curiosity about Baby Bluebell and Baby Bird!

Big update here finally : I am having contractions - definitely contractions this time, getting steadily more painful since 3pm when I lay down for my nap (doomed to failure today, that nap). Still quite irregular though fairly painful.

Eek!

gnat99 · 12/07/2016 17:37

Ps Rolly: good news about mucous - glad I'm in good company with the body fluid references today Wink
