biscuits amazing!! Congrats and well done you! What a surprise - but a brilliant one! She clearly didn't want to hang around in there a minute longer than necessary.
crunchy so so sorry to hear about your dad, that must have been so hard. And to have such little warning, you poor thing. Thinking of you & yours. Flowers

Well, given biscuit's news, I might spend today packing my hospital bag! Finally ordered cot mattress & bedding on Monday so should arrive soon, and picked up some newborn nappies and some wipes and breast pads yesterday, so feeling a bit more on top of things at last. Also feeling a bit of a nesting urge over the last few days so fingers crossed not long to wait now!

Wow, congrats biscuits!
Hugs crunchy

No excitement here. Think baby may have dropped though - had dragging pains lower down and DH said (without prompting!) that the bump looks lower. So maybe things are progressing?

Christinedonna · 13/07/2016 10:06

Wow congratulations biscuits! So happy for you (and a little jealous) I can't wait for my little girl to be here and for a cuddle! You must be on cloud nine.
crunchy I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, I know that words don't help but I hope they can be of some comfort. He'll always be with you and you need to live for him and know that the last thing he'd want is any tears or you to be sad (dads ay! Always wanting what they can't have) chin up lovely. Do him proud

MrsPMT23 · 13/07/2016 10:30

Congratulations biscuits! Getting excited by your post as the end is now is sight! 37 weeks tomorrow and 4 days left of work. Starting on eating dates today Confused

Crunchy so, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Thinking of you.

Sophia1984 · 13/07/2016 10:55

Congratulations biscuits! Your due date was 2 days after mine, so am getting excited. Try and forget all about work and enjoy your gorgeous baby.

MrsPMT23 I'm starting on the dates too, but I find them absolutely disgusting! Am going to try putting them in a smoothie as a sweetener. Also need to find a cheap source as I'll be bankrupted eating 6 a day for 3 weeks!

Crunchy I'm so sorry about your Dad- it must have been a horrible shock. I'm thinking of you and your family x

PickleBot · 13/07/2016 11:00

crunchy sorry about your dad, it must be so hard having to deal with two such major life changes at the same time. I hope your new baby can help you through it a bit.

congratulations biscuits! glad all is well and good job on winning the baby race Wink

Well I'm having an interesting time too. Im now 37+4 and was diagnosed with GD on Monday. Combined with changes in movement, beach baby and her looking like she's going to be big I'm booked for a section on Friday! I must admit I'm really looking forward to this being over. I seem to be permanently at the hospital.

Slothlikesundays · 13/07/2016 12:18

Crunchy sorry to hear about your dad, hope you and your family are coping as well as can be expected
Biscuits congratulations!
Pickle good luck for Friday! Keep us updated

Biscuitswithtea · 13/07/2016 12:41

We haven't quite sorted a name yet since we thought we had another 3.5wks at least to faff on that
Will be kept in hospital for a minimum of 72hrs - so Fri avo - because she's prem. The group b strep monitoring is, I think, 24hrs but superceded by the prem monitoring in this case.

My top tip for anyone with older children: by sheer chance we decided to leave a key to our house in ds's nursery bag so that in the event of an emergency pickup, anyone could do that. That turned out to be a genius plan!

rumisyum · 13/07/2016 13:19

crunchy, so sorry for your loss. Hope you're getting a lot of support irl. Flowers

biscuits, congratulations! Amazing news! I hope the rest of your stay goes quickly & smoothly & bloody well done you! Also, thanks for the spare key top tip!

I had a bit of a scare last night - a tummy bug seemed to trigger contractions that went on for ages. Thankfully they finally petered out - wasn't keen on the 13th as a birthday & I'm only 36 weeks! Panic packing a hospital bag this am between trips to the loo & contractions was not my finest moment... Nice kick up the bum for me to start really taking baby's arrival seriously! I hope my trigger happy uterus calms down for a couple more weeks. Confused

Christinedonna · 13/07/2016 13:38

I don't know if anyone's seen it or just has any experience or advice with scary films..would it be a very bad idea for me to watch the conjuring 2 tonight at the cinema?

Suziesome1 · 13/07/2016 13:40

So, baby is still breech :( rescan this Monday, consultant Wednesday, looks like a c section in 2-3 weeks time! Eek!

Sophia1984 · 13/07/2016 14:31

Sorry to hear that Suzie Are they going to try and re-position baby? One of the girls in my NCT class is breech - once she had got over initial disappointment at not having birth she had planned, she was glad to have a date in place. With an elective, there's still so much you can do to personalise the birth experience x

Suziesome1 · 13/07/2016 15:00

I've a rescan on Monday so she can be properly measured and her exact position recorded, and the consultant on Wednesday to decide whether she's OK to turn, or just offer a c section. Tbh though, the more I read about turning her, the more disinclined I am. Seems a lot of things can go wrong for a 50/50 success rate. Also, a planned c section isn't the end of the world, just different to what I thought. :) as long as she's OK and I'm OK, that's the main thing :)

MrsPMT23 · 13/07/2016 16:16

Sophia I hate the dates! They seem to get worse with everyone I have. I've found that Lidl do some that are quite cheap and they seem to be a bit more moist. I think it's the dry and gritty texture that is so off putting. Mum has suggested sticky toffee pudding and wrapping in bacon with cheese!

Suzie completely agree with you, as long as you're both ok! Will be lovely to have an official planned date to look forward to and meet your little one.

lilygirl81 · 13/07/2016 17:10

Do dates really help? Could I get away with fig rolls, I could stomach them...

When I went for my check up today, my blood pressure was really high for me, so made me stay in for a while until it went a bit closer to my normal. Back again tomorrow for another CTG and my pre-op chats etc.

I've managed to scrub the kitchen and most of the living room floors, so think I can finish that and the hall tomorrow, and then I will feel much better.

Just about to go for my last luxury hair dresser experience for a while, let's hope all my scrubbing doesn't set off labour while I'm there!!

Sophia1984 · 13/07/2016 17:44

I've got such horrendous back pain and paracetamol isn't touching it. I can't cope with this for possibly another 5 weeks :-( Lying down helps, but I can't just lie down all day. Feel so miserable. Also starting to feel really anxious again- just want my little boy here safely.

plimsolls · 13/07/2016 17:56

crunchy I'm so sorry for your loss. The last few weeks must have been tremendously difficult and intense. I can't imagine the complexities of dealing with a huge loss whilst at the same time bringing a new life into the world. A friend of mine had a baby and lost a close family member shortly after, and found some days the understanding of the 'circle of life' was comforting, and others not so much. Flowers. I'm thinking of you and your family.

plimsolls · 13/07/2016 17:59

biscuits Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. You sound so composed and calm, I'm very impressed! I hope that the next few days in hospital are as peaceful as a hospital can be (in a ward?) and give you some lovely baby time to revel in your new bond. It's lovely news.

Babies are coming! Good luck to those of you expecting c-sections this week. Enjoy your haircut lily! I'm booking a real pamper session including haircut for some time before I'm due. I'll be miffed if the baby comes before. Seeing everyone's latest news makes me wonder if I ought to bring t forward Wink

rumisyum · 13/07/2016 18:08

Sophia, can you book yourself a massage? I find them heavenly at this stage - carrying all this extra weight around really takes a toll!

Sophia1984 · 13/07/2016 18:16

rumisyum I've got a Christmas voucher for a Thai massage - do you reckon it's safe at this stage? They don't have a specific pregnancy massage but when my mum and sister went for theirs (I had to defer as I was in first trimester) they said there was a pregnant lady there, so fingers crossed!

DP is being brilliant at massaging, but he can't sit all day doing it :-) I wonder if it's time to get my nursing bra, as the pain being between my shoulder blades suggests it's my boobs.

Plimsolls and Lily Not much of a pamper, but I only have short hair so think I'm going to head to Supercuts tomorrow and get a trim. I've got a photo of my mum with me as a newborn on my mantelpiece. She has a mullet as it's 1984, but I don't have the same excuse!

Belager · 13/07/2016 20:17

Hey all,

Has anyone had any experience of pre eclampsia? Just been diagnosed and kept in hospital for monitoring.
34+2

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 13/07/2016 20:21

Congratulations biscuits I hope you can get some rest on the ward.

crunchy so sorry to hear about your dad. Take care of yourself, I hope that the wee one gives you something positive to focus on.

sophia I've got a pregnancy maasage and bump mask booked for 38weeks. I'm due the 8th of Aug so hoping I make it to then. Hearing biscuits news does make me worry though! I think that the should be able to give you massage you on your side, maybe give them a call and ask? I assume there's also some oils etc that that shouldn't be using.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 13/07/2016 20:28

Think I'm losing plug! Wiped pink earlier and had a bit of a panic for a minute but actually I'm pretty sure it's mucus plug coming away. Lots of Braxton hicks too, currently bouncing away on the birth ball to try and get things moving. Not overly hopeful for an imminent arrival but things are definitely going in the right direction! 37+5 today.
SPD has ramped up again last few days, my leg socket feels like it's popped out of joint, not nice. Vag hurts as well - can't decide if it's a good sign of labour starting or just the SPD!
belager no direct experience, but you're in the right place - it's good that you're being well looked after. Fingers crossed it stays under control and baby keeps cooking for a while yet.

OP posts:
rumisyum · 13/07/2016 20:43

Sorry to hear that, belager. I hope the stay in hospital isn't too tedious & all goes well.

Ooh, sounds potentially exciting, Coco! Babies soon come!

Sophia, I don't know about Thai massage specifically. I'd call & confirm I guess! I've only ever had antenatal massages when pregnant.

Dileas29 · 13/07/2016 21:07

Ahhh four keep us posted!!
