New thread - the one where we stop being pregnant and become new mamas! So close to the end. Exciting!

Congratulations brittany ! Sorry to hear you've had some not so great stuff in your personal life and I am very glad that you've got your healthy daughter in your arms! Hope you're feeling well and enjoying your newborn Flowers

OohMavis · 17/08/2016 07:33

Congratulations everyone!

Cheese congratulations! I'm so, so happy for you! Hope you and family are feeling well Flowers (tis me, Lana)

I have to say I am very jealous. Due date is Sunday, having so many 'signs' and twinges I'm driving myself mad. Everything's ready now, birth pool ready to go, just need the baby.

Christinedonna · 17/08/2016 11:13

Quick question, I have a sweep booked for tomorrow but I still can't reach my cervix..if I can't, surely the midwife won't be able to? If she can't manage it and they don't induce until 12 days over due will I just be sent home to wait another week until then? Or will she bring induction forward (I can probably guess the answer). Is there anything I can do to make a sweep more likely to be a success?

OohMavis · 17/08/2016 13:01

I couldn't reach mine either but my midwife managed it last time, somehow. Longer fingers, better angle and more experience probably Smile

MrsPMT23 · 17/08/2016 13:19

Congrats Stranded and *Brittany!

Huge congratulations Cheese so happy baby is here safely for you.

Christine I couldn't reach mine but MW found it fine. They usually ask you to put two fists under your bum to bring it into a good position. Maybe try and get it as ripe as poss - sex, pineapple and curry?!

DD is doing amazingly well. Had very sore nipples to begin with but think I've been very lucky and they've settled quite quickly. MW gave me a good tip of Lanisoh with a bit of cling film on top, this has worked wonders. Went for a lovely walk this morning just the three of us and can't believe how lucky I am!

DH back to work tomorrow Confused

Christinedonna · 17/08/2016 16:15

That's reassuring, thank you ladies! I'm loving my new fresh bedcovers so don't think il try sex again haha! But I'm making a curry for dinner tonight

Lou2711 · 17/08/2016 17:05

Christine I had a sweep this afternoon even though I hadn't managed to find my cervix. I think the different angles make a difference!!

Christinedonna · 17/08/2016 17:50

Yeah I think the angle and my belly in the way don't help me reaching it haha! Hopefully it'll do something then. That's if the major cleaning day today and curry tonight don't get there first!

bexh83 · 17/08/2016 18:46

Good luck tommorrow Christine! I have my fingers crossed for it working. Ill be the same firday morning, theres only so much rasperry tea and sitting on a ball I can do and im trying to enjoy this week instead.

I really wish I hadnt told people my due date, literally the messages havnt stopped since saturday - I didnt expect it to come saturday so im not sure why everyone around me was so convinced!

My SIL who has two children has messaged constantly and having ignored (im a bad person but ive had enough!) a message this afternoon has sent me emergency contact numbers incase ANYTHING happens in the two hour period she is at the cinema tonight. I had just planed to call parents & siblings then friends when we actually have a baby but seems people are expected much more graphic detail than I was prepared for.

AddictedtoGreys · 17/08/2016 18:46

So much backache today Sad and still 10 days to due date! I keep getting my hopes up that these aches and pains and other tmi thins are the start of things to happen, but then nothing happens and just gets me down and so fed up. I think because my DS was born 12 days early I was hoping/expecting this one to be about the same but nothing so far. Weather isn't helping and having a stroppy 3 year old to run around after isn't either!

Christinedonna · 17/08/2016 19:19

Uhhhh the house is done! Now to make dinner and then have to tidy up all over again.
bex i hear you! I've given up on raspberry tea. The amount of good cuppas I've missed out on to drink that shit is saddening! And I look at my ball like it's an ex now. Keep seeing it around and I know it will only hurt me! Haha! I just can't resist the comfy sofa especially after being non stop all day.

Slothlikesundays · 17/08/2016 19:29

Bex I feel your pain. My due date today. None stop texts/phone calls. Even off people I've not talked to in ages. Sigh.
Greys hopefully something will happen for you soon.
Christine I know how you feel about the ball I've been ignoring mine for weeks...
Would love a curry right now! I'm in being induced but they've told me it's going to take ages so I've sent DP home and am catching up on iplayer. Trying to embrace the peace and quiet before this baby arrives.

AddictedtoGreys · 18/08/2016 07:12

Had 3/4 very mild contractions last night when I was in bed about 20 mins apart, and then nothing!! So frustrating Angry

Laineypopps · 18/08/2016 07:26

Had curry two nights ago, big walk (ouch) yesterday, dtd last night, did light touch massage and bounced on the ball - no baby. No tightenings. No nothing.

I had such such high hopes too...

Today is MILs birthday! I thought it was yesterday 😳 I think a new grandchild would be an excellent present. C'mon baby!!!!

OohMavis · 18/08/2016 07:58

Ahh, I learned from last time not to tell people my due date (which is Sunday). Though, annoyingly, it hasn't stopped the messages Angry

I'm grateful to the people who limit themselves to one "IS SHE HERE YET? ANYTHING HAPPENING? TELL ME ALL ABOUT HOW YOUR VAGINA FEELS" message a week.

Slothlikesundays · 18/08/2016 09:12

Not quite the long induction I thought it would be! Our little girl arrived at 3am weighing 6lb 13 less than 12 hours after pessary insertion. We are besotted.

AddictedtoGreys · 18/08/2016 09:27

Congratulations sloth !

Congratulations sloth!

LotsOfDots · 18/08/2016 14:11

Congratulations sloth hope all is going well.

I really feel for those of you who are overdue, my DD1 was 10 days late and the constant enquiries drove me mad, especially when they came from random shop assistants etc.

plimsolls · 18/08/2016 14:26

Congratulations sloth!

I'm having a really lazy day today, it's lovely. I must get up and at 'em in a minute as I've promised myself I will finalise my hospital bag today. I'm not expecting to need it for a while but I must finish it! Having said that, I'm sure I'm losing plug a lot at the moment so my cervix must be preparing a bit.

I'm also going to order a super duper allergen barrier all-ecompassing mattress protector for our bed today. Our mattress is really old and has been slept on by many people over the years as it used to be a guest bed as well as a main bed used by someone else. I don't like the idea of a brand new baby breathing in any particles or spores from it. After reading up about mattresses and SIDS risk (as our co-sleeper crib and Moses basket are second hand) and buying new mattresses for those, I was suddenly struck by the pile of microbial filth which is probably inherent in our own mattress. May well be overthinking it but now the thought is in my head I can't block it!! What do you guys think?

OwlinaTree · 18/08/2016 15:16

Mattress protector a great idea, especially if you plan to breast feed in bed. I keep ending up in puddles of milk at the mo!

TabbyToes · 18/08/2016 18:54

Hello all, can I be a late joiner? My baby should be making his appearance next week on Weds 24th. It's my first baby after years and years of bloody horrible infertility, miscarriages and IVF. Because it's taken so long to get to this point it's hard to believe it's actually happening for me at last. But I need to accept that I will soon have my very own BABY!!!!

I've got a planned c-section booked for Wednesday when he'll be 39+4 as he is breech and also quite chunky. I am feeling pretty well at the moment and still have lots of energy. Loving this maternity leave business!

Congratulations to cheese and stranded and sending warm wishes to everyone waiting. Any c-section recovery tips are welcome!

plimsolls · 18/08/2016 19:02

Welcome tabby!!

Christinedonna · 18/08/2016 20:23

What a day! Midwife said my blood pressure was very high and there was protein in my urine so she attempted a sweep but my cervix wasn't open, and sent me to the hospital as she was worried about preeclampsia, the hospital done my blood pressure, bloods and urine. Blood pressure again was high, and urine still had protein so was sent away to another hospital! (First hospital only have maternity day care but don't do labours or delivery) and was told to prepare myself for them to induce me. Went home, got showered and ready, got the other hospital and they checked my urine, protein and ketones. Blood pressure had gone down but they put me on the monitor. I started having contractions! Blood tests came back and something in there was raised so they've sent me home for a nights sleep tonight (haha good one!) and have to go back at 8:30AM to be induced!! 2 seconds before starting to write this I went to the toilet and lost my mucus plug!
