New thread - the one where we stop being pregnant and become new mamas! So close to the end. Exciting!

Congratulations Alfie, glad it went relatively smoothly in the end. Daytona I replied to your fb post but Shockagain! I have a feeling that your DS might get the award for most dramatic entrance of the group!

Cheese that's really heartening to hear that not all back-to-back labour's are long and drawn out. Been thinking of you with your grandad being sick as well, I hope he gets the chance to meet your little one. I wish my dad was here to see me having gotten so big, he'd have been taking the piss out of me relentlessly but was so proud to be becoming a grandad again.

Christine sounds like things are happening, but I'm a first timer too so I'd be unsure as well. Defo call the midwife!

Christinedonna · 02/08/2016 10:57

They've stoppedHmm

plimsolls · 02/08/2016 10:58

TBH, I really hope Daytona does get the "most dramatic entrance" award. I'm not sure anything could be much more dramatic without being absolutely terrifying!

rumisyum · 02/08/2016 11:26

Congratulations, Alfie! Good work on getting the little chubster out so smoothly! I hope your return home & settling in together go wonderfully.

And Shock & massive congrats again, Daytona, you legend! Amazing birth story. Hope you're all doing well.

CheeseandGherkins · 02/08/2016 11:36

Daytona wow that's amazing! Congratulations! You must be in shock still! I can't believe you woke up and then gave birth!

Quite thanks, sorry your dad isn't here to meet your baby, must be hard on you. Touch wood, I have always laboured quickly no matter what position the baby is in. Even breech. *

Christina* hopefully the contractions will be doing something at least.

LotsOfDots · 02/08/2016 11:39

Congratulations alfie well done you and what a good size - I suspect my LO is going to be similar sized - my MW said essentially 'you'll be fine because you have delivered a big baby before...' WTF? DD1 was 8lb, that's not particularly big I. The grand scheme of things and I needed an episiotomy and ventouse. Hmm

and daytona wow! When was your EDD? Had you been having signs of labour or was it a total 'Geronimo' decision to arrive from the baby?!

Sophia1984 · 02/08/2016 11:52

Sounds like contractions to me Christine I've been getting pains and cramps and tightenings for weeks but never in such a regular pattern. Keep timing them, ring your midwife, and if they get to lasting 1 minute, every 5 minutes, get thee to a hospital! Good luck!

Sophia1984 · 02/08/2016 11:53

Just read your update Christine and feel your pain! Pretty much every night I think 'ooh here we go!' and then by morning they've gone. Was getting cramps in my thighs and groin last night, but they've disappeared. All we can do is think 'it's my body getting ready and the process has started' and hope that all this practice means the real deal will go smoothly..

Sophia1984 · 02/08/2016 11:57

39w5d here and have already had two texts asking if baby is here yet - one from my sister, who I hope knows she would be among first to know. Still got periody cramps, hard bump, lots of baby movement against cervix at night, lower back ache and pains in groin and thighs and ridiculous quantities of mucus plug, but nothing! Come on baby!

LotsOfDots · 02/08/2016 12:01

sophia I'm 39+6 and have also been getting the texts from people who surely should know I'd tell them! Given my other 2 were late, I'm not sure why anyone thinks this baby is going to be any different.

I have my consultant appointment today to discuss induction date and hoping for a sweep...

Biscuitswithtea · 02/08/2016 12:02

Holymoly Day that's a heck of a birth story!

Congratulations on the new arrivals :) Hope those of you who are starting to feel potential labour symptoms have either rest bite from the discomfort or a baby soon.

Christinedonna · 02/08/2016 12:06

On a mission to get her out now! Spicy chicken wings for lunch, il google the other crazy remedies people come up with and try everything now. OH said "oh that's good" when they stopped. Oh yeah, now I get to be pregnant for longer yay

Sophia1984 · 02/08/2016 12:23

Aww bless him Christine.. He probably doesn't like to see you in pain! Try going on a long walk, squats, scrubbing the kitchen floor... or alternatively having a rest to save your energy for labour!

Christinedonna · 02/08/2016 12:29

We walked a mile and a half yesterday so I think that may have had something to do with it. I've not stopped lately, major nesting, scrubbing cleaning so I'm just gunna save my energy now. Lunch, little bit of shopping (dog toys and treats so she's not too jealous when the baby comes home) then I think il go home and have a film marathon in bed. Hoping maybe I have a leg to stand on and will ask OH to stay with me tonight and not go to the gym, how lucky il be I don't know haha!

Longtimelistener · 02/08/2016 12:33

Congratulations Alfie and congratulations and omg again Daytona (think I've already congratulated you on Facebook).

Lots of luck to those of you having symptoms. Hope your babies are with you soon Smile

I thought I'd dig out the stats so that we can all update. I've put in those I can remember, but am on my phone so can't go through and find everyones. Apologies to anyone I've missed..

Been sat here crying because my family can't come up once OH goes back to work next week. (I need someone with me as I can't lift DS1 in and out of cot, etc after my c-section). MIL is great, but sometimes you just want your mum, don't you? Sad

AddictedtoGreys · 02/08/2016 12:41

Omg daytona I hope you are ok! What a shock that must have been!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 02/08/2016 13:06

quitecrunchy · 02/08/2016 16:06

LOL at your OH's response to contractions stopping christine! Hope thing get going again soon.

Basketofwool · 02/08/2016 18:15

What a way to get the job done Daytona! Congrats!

4 days overdue. Sigh. These days feel like WEEKS.

christine hope things get going for you again soon. I know how desperate you are to meet your girl :-)

LotsOfDots · 02/08/2016 18:21

Been for my consultant appointment this afternoon. (didn't actually see consultant, but MW liaised and got the outcome I was hoping for so all good!) MW did a sweep and everything is favourable, so hoping that might trigger things - if not I am going for induction on Monday at T+5 rather than the +12 that was initially suggested. Much happier with that but hoping everything gets going before then!

basket days are eons long when you are overdue, much sympathy.

OwlinaTree · 02/08/2016 19:02

Wow Daytona, that was quick! Congratulations!

CheeseandGherkins · 02/08/2016 20:10

Lots my ds2 was 8lb 2 and no tears or cuts. No idea how as I'm small at 5ft 3. Dd4 was 8lb but she was a c section. This baby was measuring 6lb 5 at my growth scan at 35 weeks. Fingers crossed the sweep gets things moving *

Sophia* I hope you have your baby soon, sounds like there is a lot going on that's heading in that direction.

Christine hope things pick up for you

Biscuit not much consolation but can't be too much longer for you now

I feel huge and so uncomfortable today, finding breathing hard and my hips are killing me again. Lots of movement though which is good

CheeseandGherkins · 02/08/2016 20:11

Oops, don't mind the odd bold in my post, on my phone and something went wrong

Congratulations on the new arrivals!!!! What amazing birth stories!!! daytona my sister also gave birth on the bathroom floor with her second!! What a lovely story to have!

I'm 39 weeks on Thurs and no sign of Baby making an appearance! Had another scan on Monday and Baby is measuring 7lb7oz already so think we are in for a biggie!! Also had mw appointment which did not go well. I have put in a complaint about our community team. I've had 7 appointments and had 4 different mw's. On Monday it was yet another new face. I had to explain my background, reasons for growth scans etc again. She was in no way invested in my care as she was standing in for me in holiday. I'm now 39weeks with no mention of whooping cough vaccine, birth plan, induction plan if I go overdue etc. I don't even know when a sweep is offered. I feel really let down so decided to put in a complaint - not against the individual mw's, just at the system allowing for lack of continuity of care.

Sending huge labour vibes to all of you still waiting.
