Good luck Beryl!

Slothlikesundays · 01/08/2016 18:07

Good luck beryl
Just had my 38 week appointment - baby fully engaged which must be why my pelvis is agony this week. I have to go for another scan as still measuring small (smaller in fact than last week). This will be my 7th scan which feels like I am being greedy or something.
Really hoping this baby makes an appearance this weekend when dp is back from working away. Bring on the sex and pineapple and bouncing on the silly bouncing ball!!

MrsPMT23 · 01/08/2016 18:21

Good luck Beryl!

Due to reduced movement this morning and afternoon I went in for monitoring. Midwife said all fine but baby's heartrate seemed quite low than usual at 117 bpm (usually around 145) does anyone else seem to think this is quite low? Or am I just being paranoid?

Ellie2008 · 01/08/2016 18:26

How exciting beryl good luck!!

9 days to go for me! Getting bored and fed up, how can I make these next few days go a bit faster??

Sophia1984 · 01/08/2016 18:37

MrsPMT23 I have a feeling that their heartrate slows the closer they get to birth. Did the midwife suggest a follow up? When I've been in for monitoring they were going to get a consultant to 'sign off' and reassure me before I went (but I was going to miss the last bus and all the doctors were performing surgery!). You could always ring the unit and double check.

CheeseandGherkins · 01/08/2016 18:52

Sloth it isn't greedy, you're having the scan to check on baby. Do you know when it is yet?

Mrspmt I would have thought the midwife would have picked up on it if there was a concern with the heartbeat but do call to check if you're worried. Sometimes things can be overlooked especially if they're busy and it might be worth double checking. Was there good variability?

Ellie how about Netflix movies or series? A few walks, catch up on some reading etc.

MrsPMT23 · 01/08/2016 19:12

I did question her before leaving to ask if 117 was normal and she assured me it was. She said she would get the doctor to look over the monitoring results and if he saw reason for concern he would give me a call. They weren't particularly busy as its a small unit so didn't feel like they were trying to get rid of me.

Cheese Good variability went from 117 up to 167 at some points.

Sophia hopefully he or she will arrive soonish then! I've got an appointment on Thursday so she said MW would discuss anything further with me then. She just advised to keep an eye on movement.

Ellie my last few days have been made up of cleaning and cooking frozen meals. Snuck an odd film in here and there too :-)

CheeseandGherkins · 01/08/2016 19:39

Mrspmt that sounds ok then, the dr would have called if there were any issues. How have movements been since?

Slothlikesundays · 01/08/2016 19:50

Mrspmt - that sounds ok - mine was around the same last time I was in. She said normal to go a bit lower at rest and up to 160s on movement, she showed me the correlation between movement and increased heart rate and the periods baby was still and it was around 120 and said that was what they were looking for. Hope that helps?
Cheese Monday hopefully. And you're right. I wasn't anxious before but I am a bit now! Just ready to have baby in my arms and then I will have a million other things to worry about
Ellie I have filled the freezer, got two different box sets and a book on the go and trying to get out for at least one walk a day to pass the time. Squeezing in a few lunches and coffees with friends whilst I can!

MrsPMT23 · 01/08/2016 20:44

Cheese I've had movements but nothing massive. Seems to be a shift in patterns or something. Going to keep a very close eye on it tonight.

Thanks all for your help and advice.

My (wee!!) Baby girl arrived at 8.13am yesterday weighing in at a strapping 9lb6 Blush.
She is doing really well and I love her already! Induction doesnt always have to mean long and interventions. I actually only got the pessary then my waters went and it only took 3 and 1/2hourd after that so v fast! A bit too fast actually haha. Only used gas and air. Delivered her normally with a wee bit of help from an episostomy so have stitches but no tearing.
I can't remember who asked about dystocia but they key marker wasn't just her estimated weight but also how much her abdomen circumference had overtaken her head - it was sitting at 44weeks when she was only 38+6 apparently that's the bigger indicator. But she didn't get stuck at all! A wee bit of suction and straight onto me I got skin to skin for over an hour too. Had to stay overnight which I really didn't want to do but had a smallish pph and with already being on iron they were not too keen for me to wobble my way out of here. I've told them I am leaving today regardless though!
Looking forward to hearing all the rest of the baby news now that we are officially kick starting the August round!

MrsPMT23 · 02/08/2016 07:23

Hooray congratulations Alfie great to hear everything went so well! Hope you can get home today and enjoy your cuddles :-)

Fizzyboo · 02/08/2016 07:25

Congratulations Alfie!!! Xx

Fizzyboo · 02/08/2016 07:34

And congratulations bear!!! I've gotten behind on the thread (can't think why Wink) So amazing to see all the babies arriving now!

I was back in hospital yesterday getting another jaundice test, she's 3 points below the limit for needing phototherapy... I'm to take her back today if she looks worse. I've currently got her Moses basket right in the bay window and doing my best to feed her up so she doesn't need it. The paediatrician was utterly useless, hadn't read any of her notes and told me to stop the treatment that the consultant in Brighton told me to do! Luckily DH realised she didn't know so we spent the whole time filling her in instead. We waited in the hospital 5 hours for that. The test and result only took the first 20 mins...

OwlinaTree · 02/08/2016 07:51

Congratulations Alfie, glad the induction went well, she was obviously ready to come, she just needed a nudge. 9lb6! Well done you!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 02/08/2016 08:14

bear congratulations to you too!

I was 2cm before they started so she was ready I think!

9lb6 - I wouldn't rush to do that again haha but it went smoothly.

CheeseandGherkins · 02/08/2016 09:12

Congratulations Alfie, glad it all went well.

Fizzy sorry you ended up back at hospital, so much waiting around. I had similar with my dd4 with jaundice, midwife sent me back, which was a struggle days after her c section. Dr at hospital did the blood test and we were allowed home, unworried. Still took many hours though.

Christinedonna · 02/08/2016 09:42

Congratulations to the new babies!(and their mummies)
Currently in a bit of a conundrum. WISH I KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT. Last night I got a few pains that I thought were something. Really strong period like pains that wore off to nothing every time, not really regular but from when I got into bed to when I fell asleep (about an hour maybe less) they were every 15 minutes or so. Now getting ready to go out and having really strong pains, sometimes in my belly, sometimes in my back, sometimes right down at the exit! All really strong, like can't sit still, drop my makeup brush, silent mouth open pain. My belly goes really hard and they last 30 seconds- a minute, every 5-10 minutes. Are these contractions? Just throwing me off a bit that they're not all always in my belly. My back I expected but so low down in my bits?

Daytona79 · 02/08/2016 10:10

DRAMATIC entrance alert Smile lol

Nothing is ever straight forwards for me 😂🙈William Charles Irvine arrived at 4am on my bathroom floor delivery by me on my own, husband had ran for help to neighbours as we thought she a midwife, but she wasn't 😂🙈. By time he came back I was sat holding a baby in shock. I had to haul him out myself, I think I'm traumatised for life lol. Baby is fine after his extremely quick exit.

From waking from my sleep in bed till holding baby was less than 10 minutes

Rang ambulance myself when husband away looking for help , ambulance arrived 6 minutes later as they were on way to another call thank god, and in that time he was born and I was sat on floor naked in what looked like a blood bath holding a baby in shock

We at hospital now and away to get released

Christinedonna · 02/08/2016 10:17

Wow daytona! You won't forget that in a hurry! I hope you didn't have carpet in the bathroom! Congratulations and glad you and baby are okay (even if you are a bit shocked!)

MrsPMT23 · 02/08/2016 10:29

Oh my Daytona!! I was not expecting that! Massive congratulations! What an entrance! He was obviously desperate to meet Mum and Dad. Amazing you delivered him yourself!

Christine I'm a FTM so not entirely sure but sounds like contractions. Have you called your midwife? Fingers crossed for you!

plimsolls · 02/08/2016 10:36
