Or thinking there's multiple heads on my child

Shanster · 18/07/2016 01:38

Piles are the worst Christine. I've avoided them so far (bran flakes with raisins every morning seems to work for me). After DC2 was born, I ended up with a strangulated hemorrhoid. Pain was worse than labour, I had to have it surgically removed. I live in fear it'll happen again this time.

I'm really fed up today, tired after spending all day yesterday at car dealerships (need something much bigger but just couldn't bring myself to shell out more money) and then dealing with DC1's terrible behavior all weekend. Asking myself how I'm going to cope with 3, and a full time job, and no family around. I normally just get on with things but every now and then it seems a bit overwhelming.

Daytona79 · 18/07/2016 07:27

ShanS have you looked at multimac instead of new car..??

Hold up to 4 car seats on back of normal car

You get a 3 one too

Sophia1984 · 18/07/2016 09:31

Does anyone remember the moles with drills for noses from Sonic the Hedgehog? After last night's performance I'm convinced that's what I'm carrying! So much movement and felt like little one was clawing against my cervix or scraping it with his head- ow ow ow. He feels so low down (pretty sure I felt a hand pushing my upper thigh!) and I wake up every time I turn over, as well as needing the loo about 10 times. Really hope this means he is coming soon as I am so tired and achey!

Kstar8 · 18/07/2016 09:45

Sophia Grin I remember those! I loved a bit of sonic on the megadrive! I'm 35+3 and not looking forward to that feeling as you've described it Confused hope baby makes an appearance for you soon.
I am so hot, my feet are unrecognisable. I just want to sit with them in a bucket of ice all day.

bearhuggy · 18/07/2016 10:24

Lily huge congratulations on the arrivals of beautiful baby Lily, she is adorable. I hope feeding is progressing well and you are enjoying some cuddles :)

lots greattt Ikea effort, just popping in for a few bits can become an all day affair so very impressed!

Thanks for all the kind comments on the nursery, feeling happy that the new house is resembling a home... especially when I can today say my due date is NEXT WEEK, arghh, how did that happen?!?! coco how are you getting on?

Feeling very hot and bothered today and trying to rest and stay hydrated, it's going to be 30 odd degrees in London tomorrow, so that should be interesting!

plimsolls · 18/07/2016 10:40

Just remembered a tip I heard the other day. I was listening to a talk about pain and inflammation and the person talking said something about "meeting heat with heat". She explained that the idea is that hot flesh (like damaged, irritated, inflamed) is soothed better with heat than ice. She did mention that the official to treat sprains (etc) with ice packs was going to change to heat packs although I don't know how certain that is.

Anyway, she gave an example that post-birth, a heat pad on sore fanjos will have a better healing/soothing impact than an ice pack.

Worth a try maybe. Although the idea of heating down there in this weather is making me feel a little sick!

plimsolls · 18/07/2016 10:41

Oh bearhuggy - love the nursery. I love how it's full or character and interesting bits and pieces, perfect for a baby/child but also very stylish and special. Amazing you've managed it so soon after moving in. I salute you!

bearhuggy · 18/07/2016 11:03

ahh thanks plimsolls! and great tip re. heat, what type of heat pack do you think would be best for 'down below'?!

plimsolls · 18/07/2016 11:11

I'm not sure. Definitely not Deep Heat! I was thinking about getting one of those microwave-safe herbal packs that smell of lavender. Although, it would need some kind of disposable cover.

Hmmm. I might add this my Things To Google Whilst On Pre-Baby Maternity Leave list.

Christinedonna · 18/07/2016 12:20

Due to the horrible pressure and pains lately I panicked a bit and got OH to bring Moses basket and car seat home just in case. I love them so much that I would probably be happy if it wasn't for how sad I feel. Just feel SO unappreciated lately. I can't get any help with any thing and it's starting to take its toll. My hands and feet and swollen, my back kills, I have to have three cold showers a day as I'm so sweaty and hot, I dosed off last night eventually and OH thought poking my nose and saying "shall I turn the film off?" Would be helpful. I'm asleep, why the fuck do I care if the films still on. Then he took my side of the bed because it's closer to the fan (exactly why it's MY side). I don't wanna play a little violin for myself but if I didn't feel sorry for myself, NO ONE WOULD. Just feel so trapped in this role of "everything is your job". When will someone put themselves in my shoes and think 'I'd hate if people treated me like that'

Sophia1984 · 18/07/2016 12:29

plimsolls and bear I've been using a hot water bottle with cover on for back pain and sometimes have it between my legs for my pelvic pain. Currently sitting with a pack of frozen beans wedged between my back and chair! For post-birth, I've read a lot about using 'padsicles' which are basically maternity pads soaked in aloe vera, witch hazel and a drop of lavender that you store in the freezer then put in your knickers. If you google it you'll find lots of instructions :-)

Sorry you're feeling rubbish and underappreciated Christine. Do you think it would help to give your OH specific directions as to what you need him to do for you? Or go for the strategy of just not doing anything so he's forced to. When's your due date again?

ToElleWithIt · 18/07/2016 12:30

Christine He probably won't put himself in your shoes so just tell him outright how he's making you feel!

bear your nursery is absolutely gorgeous. Well done.

Lily is gorgeous. Looking forward to more new arrivals.

So impressed with all the Ikea quickies. I got around in an hour and a half , but it took a further 45 minutes for my order to appear at the collection point and to arrange delivery.. and after all that they didn't deliver yesterday.... rage... I waited around all day, wasted half an hour on the phone and have spent a further hour on the phone this morning and no one knows where my stuff is.

bearhuggy · 18/07/2016 13:18

christine sorry you are feeling down, perhaps take a moment to make a list of the jobs you are doing or that need doing and then share with your OH and go through with him and make a plan as to who is going to deal with what and when etc. You shouldn't be feeling like this and he should be there supporting you more than ever....you are growing a little person inside of you after all!! I find writing lists and talking through and setting tasks really does help. I've forgotten, but are you still working??

elle how frustrating !!! I hope the delivery shows up soon. What did you end up buying? Hope you have your allen key ready and poised :)

sophia i've actually got making up those pads on my list for today and getting them into the freezer! Think a combo of those and some warm ones like you mention plim should cover all bases.

Christinedonna · 18/07/2016 14:24

I've been partially cheered up with a KFC.. But yeah I will have a talk with him. My due date is 11th August and no I'm not working anymore thank god!

ToElleWithIt · 18/07/2016 15:05

bear I bought a single bed for my son so that I can get him out of his cot before baby arrives (yes I should have done this sooner). That way I can use his lovely cot for the new baby. I also bought a super king mattress for our new giant bed which is being delivered next week (not ikea) so that when the new baby inevitably decides that sleeping in a cot is not really its thing (no matter how lovely the cot) there is room for the baby in our bed!

Popped out at lunch to get the last bits for my hospital bag. Last few days at work - yay!

rumisyum · 18/07/2016 15:11

bearhuggy what an absolutely BEAUTIFUL space you have prepared for your little one. What a lucky little creature they will be. You've inspired me to put a little effort into decorating my baby's sleeping space - I made so much effort for my son & this time round I'm half expecting to be co-sleeping, or have them in a corner of our room for ages anyway, that I just haven't bothered. Poor, neglected 2nd child!

I cannot imagine putting heat pads on my post-partum fanjo in this weather! I'd quite like to crack out one of my padsicles already, tbh. I am sweltering! Hope everyone's managing to keep cool in this weather.

lily & biscuits I hope you're both getting on well with your little ones. And I hope you're both home very soon! You must be desperate to be out now, biscuits.

Back to my pottering... Have finally decided on a home birth, which I'm pleased about. Just need to finish washing All the Tiny Things for the bub, and maybe make a little effort at prettifying their crib. Smile

rumisyum · 18/07/2016 15:15

Re clary sage, I thought it was only recommended to use in labour to boost contractions, but not to try to bring it on? There's a booklet with acupressure points, some of which can be used to try to induce labour, and some for pain relief in labour. I remember finding the lower back ones in particular AMAZING last time. But is it time to get shagging for England, then? Wink

BerylMeeps · 18/07/2016 15:51

Been for my consultant appt and said with my condition they'd rather not do induction now (38w) as it could fail due to my quite long cervix that seems to be lurking around a corner. It was like that when I gave birth to my DD so I was a bit Hmm but I had a stretch n sweep, another SS booked Monday next week and lots of sex prescribed haha! Mildly awkward as I went to appt with my lovely MIL, bless her she's wonderful.

Fingers crossed! Appt thurs to do birth discussion. Woo! Nearly there now.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 18/07/2016 16:24

Beryl fingers crossed for you! Giggling at your MIL knowing all about your prescribed bedroom activities Grin
Biscuits hope the jaundice is resolving and you and DD are preparing to come home ASAP!
Lily said it on the fb group as well but congrats! She truly is beautiful. How are you getting on with feeding today?
Christine sorry you're fed up. Agree with whoever said to make a list of stuff that needs doing and present it to your OH. Think they just can't really understand - mine tolerates my moaning but has minimal sympathy and has pretty much let me get on with things this time round. I'd love to be able to inflict pregnancy on men, reckon we'd get a whole lot more sympathy if they really understood what it was like!
Elle are you me?! When we moved into our new house a superking bed & mattress was our top priority, for exactly the same reasons as you Grin plus DD still sneaks into our bed whenever she thinks she can get away with it. It has been amazingly comfy I must say, reckon we'll be reet even with another littlun in there!
Shan how are you feeling now?? Hope you've cheered up a bit. It's horrible, that feeling when everything just seems so overwhelming Flowers but this new bub will just slot in, I bet. And you will cope amazingly and do a brilliant job, because you already are! It just won't feel that way to you Wink I often think mums are like swans - it looks so easy from the outside, but there's a lot of frantic paddling going on under the surface!
Sophia and Mslg hope the pains/uncomfortableness isn't too bad today - a futile hope of course! Thinking of you both.
bear your nursery is soooo beautiful! I have serious nursery envy - this poor baby is just being shoved into the cot next to our bed, then getting chucked in the bunk bed with DD at some future time. Hope he likes Disney princess posters and flowery curtains Grin
Was thinking of you this weekend - glad baby didn't decide to arrive while your OH was halfway round the world!

No news from me, baby is apparently quite happy and comfy where he is. Bah. I'm taking hope from the fact that with DD I had no idea labour was imminent - in fact I had a meltdown on my due date and convinced myself I'd be pregnant forever and end up induced with an EMCS and all the rest. Then went into labour that night and she was born the day after due date! (And I now know that an induction, and indeed an EMCS, wouldn't have been that bad anyway, in the big scheme of things.) Nesting has kicked in bigtime so I'm making the most of that to finish up some of the random little chores I've been meaning to do forever! Tried shagging baby out the other night, but I woke up the next day feeling like my pelvis had been shattered, so not trying that again til I'm really desperate! It didn't work anyway. He'll come sooner or later, one way or another.
Whew, sorry for essay post!

glencoco tell me about it! Try explaining to a man "I feel like I have a head coming out of me" "I can't move coz my bits hurt!".
I'm really hoping a surprise labour (I almost wrote pregnancy then, ha!) is the case for me. I've convinced myself I'll have one from films where my waters just gush all of a sudden! I doubt il be that lucky. Il take pictures later of everything I've got done baby wise so far, can't stop looking at her cute little wardrobe or staring at the car seat and thinking "I'm going to put a baby in there soon!". We've also tried banging the baby out.. (Don't judge) but I even tried laying there full of the mess afterwards for hours as I heard it's the sperm that thins out the cervix. It began to itch

Shanster · 19/07/2016 02:39

daytona - wow, that Multimac thing looks fantastic! I just looked it up but it looks like they are just focused on the UK market for now. We moved house to have more room with this baby, and are prepared to make all kinds of changes but having to buy a new car just annoys me! I'm not that into what car I drive, and I'd rather spend money on almost anything else. However, we have a VW diesel and it seems there will be a mandatory recall soon and we'll have to take the settlement deal :(

glencoco, thanks for your words of encouragement! I feel much better today. I'll cope just fine - maybe not always in a swan like manner, but that's what we strive for! My kids go back to school in 3 weeks, and although that means a return to the early morning alarm for us all, they need to be back in their routine. They have been off school since the last week of May and now they just bicker with each other most of the day.

christine - its rotten when your OH doesn't quite get it, but I've learned mine is quite dense if I don't spell things out for him. Tell him how you feel :)

Belager · 19/07/2016 05:48

I think my waters have broken... Watch this space.

Biscuitswithtea · 19/07/2016 08:01
