New thread - the one where we stop being pregnant and become new mamas! So close to the end. Exciting!

Sorry for not checking in yesterday, it was a long day! Lily Rose Mary arrived safely at 11:20am, weighing 6lbs 5.5oz.

We are doing well, though I have only had an hours sleep as we have not quite cracked feeding yet. I was in tears about 3am when she wouldn't latch on but was screaming and sucking everything except my boob.

Fingers crossed we nail it today and can enjoy the experience a bit more.

Lily many congratulations! She looks perfect. I hope the feeding starts to click into place you both soon xx

We are STILL in hospital. DD is still being treated for jaundice. For a while yesterday it looked like she would need to be taken to SCBU but we've dodged that thankfully for now

I'm doing okay but not being able to hold DD other than for feeding, combined with DS not being able to come in at the mo (the phototherapy gear would completely freak him out) means that I've been finding the past couple of days emotionally very hard. DH is only able to get into visit us for a couple of hrs each day over the weekend but at least if we are still here tomorrow then he can spend all day with us as DS will be at nursery.

LotsOfDots · 17/07/2016 07:33

Congratulations lily on the safe arrival of lily! What a beautiful baby. Hope feeding settles down today.

belagar glad you have been discharged, they must be pleased with your bp etc.

biscuits how is your little girl doing today?

christine no position is comfortable, right? I am 37+4 today, and just so cumbersome! Head is not engaged here, but as its DC3, it might not engage until I go into labour...

bear nursery looks lovely! I am quite impressed at 1.5 hours in IKEA, but I raise you 45 minutes when I was there on Thursday with 2 children in tow! - mind you we we're only buying sandwich bags, photos frames a clock and ice creams!

quitecrunchy · 17/07/2016 07:40

Lily your Lily is adorable! Hope things fall into place with the feeding today. Well done to you for getting her here lovely and healthy, you had such a difficult pregnancy along the way.

Belager glad to hear you've got home now, that must be a relief. Have your headaches abated a bit?

Biscuits sorry to hear you're still waiting to get home and the wee one's still having treatment. Hope it's not too much longer til you get home so you can enjoy round the clock cuddles with baby, DS and DH.

OwlinaTree · 17/07/2016 08:43

Congratulations lily she is gorgeous.

Christinedonna · 17/07/2016 09:45

lily she is gorgeous! Congratulations and I hope you get the hang of feeding today and can enjoy eachother as much as possible. A little sleep would be good too!

belager on Thursday she was "almost" engaged so it wouldn't surprise me. Having non stop dreams about my waters breaking and needing to go to the hospital, my brain is teasing me!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 17/07/2016 10:16

Congratulations lily she is just beautiful! Feeding will come, take care of yourself.

Sophia1984 · 17/07/2016 10:25

Hello little Lily! She's gorgeous :-)

Sorry you're still in hospital biscuits It must be horrible being apart from your partner. Do you have other people who can come and visit?

Bear I have massive nursery envy! It looks absolutely gorgeous and you have inspired me to make some pompoms :)

No problem belager So glad everything is going well.

I really thought little man was on the way last night. He has been so crazily active for the last few days, like he's trying to break out. I've also woken up full of beans and as close to a nesting instinct as I'm ever going to get (I am not a natural cleaner!). Then last night I had period pains all round my lower bump and into my back and massive pressure in my bum - could hardly sleep. Seems to have gone this morning though. I think he has done a big move down again as my pelvic pain has pretty much gone and my bump is lower and jutting out noticeably.

Need to finish tidying the house today really. I work from home and want to get all my paperwork either posted to head office or stored in the garage so it's not here if baby comes early!

Biscuitswithtea · 17/07/2016 10:56

Yep, thankfully. Visits from others have happened and will happen today too. I feel for DH though because he sees so little of DD this weekend and the only hands on time he can have while she is having treatment is changing her nappy.

Dr has just been round to say that treatment needs to continue until at least tonight though so the earliest we will get away is tomorrow now.

Exciting to hear of other August babies wanting to queue jump though :) :)

MrsPMT23 · 17/07/2016 12:11

Congratulations Lily she is beautiful! Fingers crossed all goes well today and you can get home soon.

Biscuits hope it's not too much longer until you're home and you can have more cuddles and time with your little girl.

Sophia - had the exact same thing last night! Was convinced baby was on their way. Had terrible period pains around the front and backache and my stomach was like a rock. Kept thinking I needed to go to the loo due to pressure! Then all settled down, ugh! As you say, bump is noticeably lower this morning and definitely more achy around my pelvis so think it was just a big movement down with some BH.

I'm so irritable today, I think it must be the heat. The weather is expected to be 28 degrees on Tuesday - any tips for dealing with it?

Christinedonna · 17/07/2016 13:26

Does anyone have any recommendations for stool softeners? NOT laxatives, just something to make it easier when I do go

plimsolls · 17/07/2016 13:29

Lactulose is good (draws water into your bowel to soften things) but make sure you drink plenty of water with it.

I find fruit and water helps a lot too.

Christinedonna · 17/07/2016 13:43

Il give them a go thank you, I drink soooo much water so I can't understand why I'm having such trouble. Although I am incredibly hot at all times so it's probably being used up straight away in keeping me hydrated.

On the website it says 6th Aug not 13th. Are you running one on 13th too? I'd be interested in the 13th I think.

Also, possibly a cheeky question, but if you've been a member of MN for so long and are in an antenatal club, why don't you have a proper user name?!

user1468767360 · 17/07/2016 17:05

plimsolls regarding username - that is an excellent question. I wanted to name change to post this as I didn't really want work stuff connected to my extremely intimate pregnancy posting history... but it appears there is a bug preventing me from doing that so I had to register as a totally new person. And then the same bug prevented me from changing my name to something normal.

Regarding the date -- I've just checked and you're right it's the 6th not the 13th. Sorry about that. If we do decide to run one on the 13th I'll come back and tell you. We will also run more in future so you could leave a note with contact details and we'll let you know future dates.

plimsolls · 17/07/2016 17:16

Fair enough! Was curious.

I'll keep the 6th in mind- we may have visitors on that day. I've got a note of your website so I'll check back. Thank you.

Christinedonna · 17/07/2016 17:17

When people change their name for a particular post, does the name on that post not change back when said person changes their name back?
For example if I wanted to post about how crazy you all are and called myself "Bob" to do so, when I changed my name back to christinedonna to post on here and tell you all how sane you are, would that thread not show as posted by Christinedonna?

Daytona79 · 17/07/2016 17:54

I don't know but I was Salene and I deleted my cookies on phone so it logged me out so I had to sign in again and when I did I was now daytona79 and I had no idea how to get back to salene so left it as is Hmm 😂🙈

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 17/07/2016 17:56

christine prunes! I am taking one every second day and it's keeping me regular. I struggled so much before I started it - TMI but now when I go I don't even really have to push. Which is good for my piles. Blush.
You might have to play about with how many you need to take but I have ahem sensitive digestion so every second day is enough for me!

LotsOfDots · 17/07/2016 18:26

You can name change on the web page but not on the mobile site or the app. If you change your name the posts stay associated with the name you were using when you posted it, IYSWIM so Christinedonna you would be safe!

bexh83 · 17/07/2016 19:16

Bear your lovely nursery post inspired me - I cleared our spare room out yesterday ready to paint today - but it was so hot I stuck to repainting the blanket box outside.... might try again on evenings this week. Im usually a proper diy/crafty/hands-on person so people are surprised ive done so little. Late pregnancy has slowed me down a lot.

Christine im with prunes, but bananas seem to have the biggest effect on me, apples are good too.

Im going to attempt to cut my toenails and shave my legs in the bath....in the house on my own... to make this week more bareable...wish me luck! OH is fireservice and on tonight so I will be calling him if I do get stuck Grin

Christinedonna · 17/07/2016 19:29

alfie I've got piles because of producing what I can only describe as boulders. Donkey would be impressed. I'm a very fussy eater though (I eat right, just things I like) and I've never had prunes so would be very fussy about trying them

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 17/07/2016 20:52

Honestly christine I was exactly the same. It's horrible. I am also quite fussy and I have to hold my nose a bit when I eat them! But they have changed my digestion for the better! Maybe you could make a smoothie and put one in there?

Christinedonna · 17/07/2016 21:05

Il have to bite the bullet and go for it. All I can picture is me going into labour and a midwife commenting on it!
