Fresh and tall hope all is ok.

My hands and feet are still itching but not as bad, so I just have to monitor it - if it gets worse I need to call straight away. Otherwise I think my midwife will likely test again on Friday.

Had a bad night with DS and then couldn't get comfortable due to SPD, so I've been awake since 3:30. My parents have said they'll have DS for a few hours later so we're going to build the cot and get all DS's baby clothes out of the attic to sort through. The thought that I could potentially have as little as 5 weeks left scares me a bit - we're not ready at all!

MeDownSouth · 28/08/2016 12:53

Hope you're all feeling better soon ladies xx
clank glad to hear you've finished work, enjoy the rest :)
Completely sympathise with the lack of sleep - waking up so many times in the night and so early I'm not sure it's worth going to bed!

Anyone else starting to feel a bit overwhelmed? Yesterday we went to a baby shop to (I thought) look at car seats and try the isofix in our car (we have really slopy seats and worried about baby's head being too far forward). Spent the hour or so looking at buggies, which I feel like I was being pushed into. There's so many options and I got a bit overwhelmed and my coping strategies weren't working (also baby was beating the hell out of me and it was making me feel sick). OH got cross with me for just 'wanting an easy option rather than making a decision'. We're not going to be stuck cause we're getting my old pram (big silver cross :D) but OH wants a buggy for going out in the car. I've not really thought about it so am in a bit of a muddle with it all and they're so expensive so I don't want to get it wrong. Why can't they all do the same thing to make it easier to chose between them? :)

On the plus side I get to meet my HV on tuesday. She's coming round so I can meet her before birth. Now just have to make the house look like we're living here not like we're squatting in a decorating nightmare! xD

Afreshstartplease · 28/08/2016 16:44

Anyone else with a back to back baby have awful back ache

OP posts:
Figgygal · 28/08/2016 16:48

Fresh Ive had more dull ache than I'm used to but wonder if it's all in my head as I know he was back to back earlier on week or if it does hurt because he is back to back (if you see what I mean).

Afreshstartplease · 28/08/2016 17:04

I've been unable to lie on my back for weeks due to the pain but today it's constant whatever position I'm in

OP posts:
Northernlight22 · 28/08/2016 17:52

I've got health visitor coming on Tuesday too medownsouth - need to keep house vaguely tidy!

Afreshstartplease · 28/08/2016 21:06

I've never had a Hv or mw visit before baby is born!

OP posts:
Northernlight22 · 28/08/2016 22:00

I asked around and none of my friends had either, so I asked my mw why (was worried that I'd ended up on a naughty list!) and she said they've changed the policy to come out before to give you the info so you are pre-
Warned as after birth the first visit is usually a bit crap!

ChatterNatterer · 28/08/2016 22:06

I had a lovely HV come visit, such a nice lady - hope all the visits go well :)

Put up the cot bed yesterday and just looking at nursing chairs - so many to choose from! As in, a specific gliding nursing chair, or an arm chair or an idea poang or rocker chair??

Northernlight22 · 28/08/2016 22:17

I've not got a chair in the nursery - the rooms just too small

ChatterNatterer · 28/08/2016 22:18

Just read back, Fresh and Tall hope all is better soon x

ChatterNatterer · 28/08/2016 22:20

I think we can squeeze one in next to the wardrobe - but I was surprised how small the rooms looks with all the furniture in - not much room to play when older but total first world problem/she won't even be sleeping in it for 6 months! Lol!

FuzzyOwl · 28/08/2016 22:21

I have loads to catch up on. Will read back when I get a chance, but I hope everyone is doing ok.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 28/08/2016 22:53

I never bothered with a nursing chair - we bought a nice reclining armchair but it now lives in DH's man cave - I found in easier to feed DS in bed. However, DS never slept in his cot, he went straight from his crib, to co-sleeping, to a double bed in his own room, by which time he was past night feeds anyway. I have no idea how I'll manage night feeds once this baby outgrows the crib in our room!

Tallblue · 29/08/2016 06:34

chatter we got a poang for DC1 and it worked well.

I'm feeling marginally better now, thanks all. Starved myself for 24 hours to try to get rid of bug. But then was crying in pain last night, so much stomach acid - stabbing pain in chest and between shoulders. My usual trick for keeping heartburn away is to keep eating regularly but with a totally empty stomach it was so painful. Have eaten a bit of mashed banana and live yogurt this morning and feeling a bit more human. So far it's stayed down. What a palaver!

Baby seems to be moving well and unaffected, thankfully!

Afreshstartplease · 29/08/2016 07:51

Better night here, slept about 6/7 hours straight without even a toilet trip! Still very achey but atleast feel a bit more with it and no more stomach pains luckily

Glad to see your feeling a bit better too tall blue!

We never had a chair I'm any of the dcs rooms, will just feed in bed

OP posts:
Figgygal · 29/08/2016 07:51

We've never bothered with a chair this time my mum came to stay couple weeks back and we can fit a single bed in with our nursery furniture so she went in there and have decided to keep it there somewhere to sit snd on bad nights when DH needs to sleep somewhere for one of us to go!!

Worst night sleep so far last night up probably 4 times to wee, hips hurt, squashed my left ear so it hurt, wriggly baby.

Worked through a bag of old baby clothes yesterday have found 4 coats in 3/6 months and about 20 sleep suits/bodysuits it's made me remember how easy it is to over buy clothes and paranoid I've not got enough little size stuff in equal measure

Afreshstartplease · 29/08/2016 07:56

You just reminded me figgy, last night I was nodding off on the sofa before bed and baby kicked so hard it woke me up , felt like someone was shaking my stomach! So that's a first

Had terrible leg cramp last night, worst it's ever been. Seem to have a really sore a painful hip now which is typical as was meant to be taking the kids to a farm today, not sure I will be up to the walking.
I have a really nice chair I use for nursing but have had to put it in the girl's room as not enough space in ours.
My cousin gave me 7 bags of clothes yesterday from the little girl she had last year! Only went up to 6 mths and a lot of stuff was unworn with tags still on. I've already been through it and taken out bits I might need, we're having a massive declutter to try and make room for #4, still don't have anywhere to put her clothes, bedding etc.
I always have too many clothes for the kids, you'd think by 4 I'd know how much I actually need.
Glad to here you're feeling better fresh and tallblue.

Afreshstartplease · 29/08/2016 08:26

Havetobe I am exactly the same with over buying of clothes. Luckily no one has gifted me any of their outgrown baby clothes this time around yet
I'm also still trying to declutter before baby arrives, I have made some progress and their is space for his stuff. I need to sort my older twos toys out, they have lots they don't play with in their room and it'll only get worse at Christmas! My kitchen is mega cluttered too. I don't know the answer to that though

OP posts:
MeDownSouth · 29/08/2016 08:47

I'm having a HV visit as I'm under extended MW care for my anxiety/depression (which has been fine all pregnancy til the last week.. typical!). She doesn't have to come but it's an opportunity to meet her before the carnage begins I guess so she has something to compare to and so I know who she is?
I have my Gran's old rocking chair that was given to us when we moved in together. It won't be going in baby's room but I'm planning on the sofa bed going in there for same reasons as Figgy and for if mum comes to visit.
Baby is being an uncooperative little monkey - kicks are getting stronger and hurt a lot of the time. I have anterior placenta too so who knows what it'd feel like without that! Is anyone else baby making their bump wiggle and jump around? It's really weird to watch!

Kariana · 29/08/2016 08:57

MeDownSouth, I knew I'd be a nightmare with choosing a pushchair, I find big decisions overwhelming too so I highly recommend a personal shopping appointment. Mamas and Papas and Mothercare definitely do them and I'm sure other shops do. They show you all the features, take into account what you want and help you come to a decision. I went from not having a clue to coming home with one I'm really pleased with. Definitely go for it, we went to M&Ps and the lovely lady didn't pressure us to buy at all.

Tallblue glad you are on the road to recovery!

Dh keeps telling me I have overbought on clothes, I'm sure I don't actually have that many. (They don't even fill a box, even with blankets and muslins added in.) I have a range of sizes up to 6 months but only a few of each item (vests, sleepsuits, hats etc)

Afreshstartplease · 29/08/2016 09:06

I have six up-to one month sleep suits but about 20-25 in 0-3 months

And then there are outfits

I have issues

OP posts:
MeDownSouth · 29/08/2016 09:11

Thing is I don't know if we'll even need a pushchair to start with with having the pram. Feels like we're trying to rush into it. Will look into shopping appointments thank you.
And I know what you mean about outfits. I've made list of what we have and am now taking it out with me so I can buy the size we have least of. It's working atm.
Also just found this: www.ocado.com/webshop/product/WaterWipes-Sensitive-Baby-Wipes-Mega-Pack/291720011?from=search&tags=%7C20000&param=water+wipes&parentContainer=SEARCHwater+wipes_SHELFVIEW if anyone's planning on using them? Seems like a good deal!

Northernlight22 · 29/08/2016 10:24

Ive got some water wipes for the hospital but only because I've heard they can be a bit funny about Huggins / pampers wipes
