Schnitzel - thinking of you hope everything is ok!

I too was an 8-10 prepregnancy and im only 5'3. Ive found my changing shape one of the most difficult things to accept about being pregnant! Ive put on weight on my thighs, face even the tops of my arms. I cant weight to overhaul my diet and exercise regime postbaby! I feel so frumpy at the moment. I reckon im gonna have a celebratory maternity clothes bonfire when i eventually get back into my old jeans Wink

I came home from my mums tonight to find OH in the shed/mancave painting the cot he has made for baby. Happy mum to be moment.

Newmum90 · 26/08/2016 21:36

*cant wait!!

Afreshstartplease · 27/08/2016 07:16

Yes to getting out of breath, last night I struggled reading to DC3 because I was getting out of breath!

Another awful nights sleep here. DC3 up and down from 4am. Been in agony with my back and really struggled to get comfy. Lower bump also very achey. Thinks it's a pity me day.

I generally just put pregnancy weight on on my stomach and boob's and have never struggled to loose it. I may be being naive thinking this will be the same this time around!

How are you feeling this morning April

OP posts:
Kariana · 27/08/2016 09:36

Hope you're ok today April and Schnitzel.

Nickname have you tried the body pillow between your legs? That usually helps me. Last night I was so deeply asleep after my terrible night on Thursday that I mustang have moved at all in my sleep. Kept waking up to roll over when the pressure on my hips became agony. In the end they both got so sore I put the pillow under both thighs to raise my hip off the bed completely. Felt like a bit of a strange angle at first but got some decent sleep with it there.

Newmum I can't believe how much of a blob I feel being pregnant. I can't wait to lose it afterwards either.

Fresh I was thinking of you and your back to back baby, don't they recommend a birthing ball to bounce on for that? I found a 55cm one on Amazon which is the perfect side for short people like us! I'm pretty rubbish at balancing but this one is easy because it's smaller and it's amazing the relief I get to my back and hips just from sitting on the thing, so much more so than a chair or sofa. If you haven't got one I can't recommend it highly enough.

Afreshstartplease · 27/08/2016 10:03

Thanks for the recommendation Kariana I will have a look because he doesn't seem to be turning around the sod! I've read back to back babies can cause a lot of slow stop and start labor and I cba with that. Been there done that got the T-shirt. I am aiming to repeat birth 3 which was quick and easy compared to 1+2!

Liver function tests are normal, thankfully! Though iron levels are still slightly low, so I need to carry on taking iron tablets and increase vitamin c intake which improves iron absorption. I'm still itching, but his could well be eczema, or psychological as I got a bit worked up about everything. They've said if it gets worse they'll retest. I'm due to see my midwife again on Friday, and apparently if I'm still itching she'll test again then.

Hope you're feeling better April.

Good news schnitzel!

What's everyone's diet like atm, feel very aware I'm not eating enough fruit and veg! Picking and eating crap.

Is anyone using an app to monitor their eating?

OP posts:
positivity123 · 27/08/2016 11:38

I have a no liquid past 8pm rule which is helping me with my sleep.
fresh I'm a bit up and down with eating. I'm trying really hard not to graze because I know it's not good for insulin levels. I try and plan 3 healthy meals a week so a chicken stir fry or fish and veg to make me feel a bit more in control. I'm really strict that I have bran flakes and a banana for breakfast everyday as it stops me getting blocked up . I'm not using an app but had to ask DH to help me be healthier so no chocolate in the house and suggest healthy dinners rather than take ways.

I'm really feeling how much my life has changed. Usually at a bank holiday I'd be in the pub with friends or at Carnival and this year I'm getting bedding from Dunlem and washing the windows. Grin

Afreshstartplease · 27/08/2016 12:23

I get thirsty during the night, no way could I do no liquids after 8!

OP posts:
Northernlight22 · 27/08/2016 14:09

I've got a self imposed liquid ban too - no fluid in the last hour before bed! Seems to help!

Diets a bit rubbish at the moment if I'm honest, keep trying to be good but it's not really working.

JulietteL · 27/08/2016 15:26

I couldn't have a liquids cut-off. I drink constantly - including when I wake up in the night. Not having a drink available actually makes me feel panicky!

Afreshstartplease · 27/08/2016 15:56

OMG I can't get the baby off my bladder

Constant urge to pee

Help

funkky · 27/08/2016 19:42

I didn't have braxton hicks with ds but I think I am having it now - never quite sure if it's baby turning or BH.

Anyone used tommee tippee electric breast pump before? I used it for ds and just brought it out - it looks a bit yellow/ steamy looking. Is it possible to change the parts, if so what parts do I change? I am hoping not to have to buy a new breast pump as I found it very useful last time.

Kariana · 27/08/2016 20:20

Juliet I'm exactly the same, it gives me a headache if there's no water available when I'm thirsty.

Fresh I've had several occasions when I have been to the toilet three times in ten minutes because the baby has decided my bladder is comfy. It's so frustrating! I've had a rubbish diet recently too, keep trying to improve it but it last a couple of days at most. The house move hasn't helped either. Glad it's not just me though!

Northernlight22 · 27/08/2016 21:22

Not had bh yet I don't think, I'm guessing is know if I had?

Can't help with baby on bladder - I'm also having to do multiple toilet trips at the mo. I ended up having to go twice in 5 mins this morning as baby must have decided to move just after I'd been!

Started buying stuff for hospital bag today and got non bio washing powder coming tomorrow so I can start washing!

Figgygal · 27/08/2016 22:22

Fresh when they're back to back their heads don't properly connect with the cervix and so the hormone releases you need aren't as consistent or plentiful. I've been sat doing clockwise rotations today arms raised in air to try and open up body and create space. I too not having a back to back labour he will move!!!!

April241 · 28/08/2016 00:47

Hi all, had a busy day today! Mum had a wee baby shower for me which was absolutely lovely. Was so nervous about it all but it was fab, lots of cake, alcohol for everyone else and good chat. Was so nice seeing friends and family that never get a chance to meet up now.

Thanks everyone :). Was still really sore and uncomfortable this morning but all eased off when I got showered and dressed, started up again though about 8/9pm so I'm guessing it's just an evening/nighttime thing after being up and about all day.

Fresh at daisy birthing classes they recommended getting into all fours and rocking back and forth, bum to your heels and back along the ground till your back on all fours for back to back babies - apparently they don't like the feeling of their spine rolling against yours. One of the girls in the class managed to turn her baby doing it at home all the time, not sure if it was a fluke but worth a shot!

Schnitzel glad your tests were okay, hope that itching stops though.

I was using myfitnesspal to track my diet but couldn't be bothered, trying to make sure I have at least one smoothie a day with spinach, kale and a mixture of fruits though. I drink a lot through the night too, I can't go to bed without a bottle of water there!

Afreshstartplease · 28/08/2016 07:36

Well I had an eventful night

Woke about 2 am with what felt like a mild contraction and feeling really sick. Between 2+4am I had about 6 of these. I then went toilet and had a very upset stomach and after that it stopped thank god as I was getting worried and googling preterm labor!

Tired and sore this morning Sad

Tallblue · 28/08/2016 07:57

fresh you're not alone!
I developed some kind of raging sickness bug around 2am and feel like death now. Tried to eat an ice lolly this morning to get some fluid in but can't keep anything in. Both D&V (sorry tmi!). Feeling very sorry for myself but also thanking my lucky stars I have help looking after DC1 today.

Not sure at what point I should be worried and see a doctor.

Hope we both feel better soon!

Afreshstartplease · 28/08/2016 08:00

Just had another sharp twinge in top of bump. Putting feet up.

At what point do I get checked out? I've never had anything like this in previous pregnancies.

Feel better soon tall blue

OP posts:
Kariana · 28/08/2016 09:24

Tallblue that sounds awful. My friend got a stomach virus in her pregnancy and all was fine in the end, I think in general if the vomiting stops by the 24 hour mark and you have started keeping water down you can just treat at home with rest (the other end can take a few days to get back to normal - sorry tmi!) I have never had a stomach bug last longer than a day and I swear by no food until the afternoon, then just a couple of plain digestives, followed by a piece of plain toast in the evening if you keep those down. A lot of people make the mistake of having high sugar or dairy foods early on and they just feed the bacteria in your stomach and make it worse. I'd stick to plain ice cubes if you want to get fluids that way as that might help. Hope you feel better soon!

Fresh sounds scary! Hope all is ok, maybe it's just a back to back thing? I have no idea what the contractions feel like and worried I'll either miss the start or have loads of false alarms. Get lots of rest and hopefully it will settle down. BrewCake

April241 · 28/08/2016 11:10

Oh hope you're both better soon fresh and tallblue.

fresh if you've any concerns at all I'd give them a ring, especially since you've never gone to your due date.
