Very nice Latin lucky DH!

I'm not having trouble walking but the middle of my back is usually really sore by the end of the day, think it's the shift in weight and centre of gravity. Feel like I really need putting on one of those old fashioned stretching racks they used to use as punishment for treason!

Slumberparty · 16/08/2016 04:36

Hi all. Feel bad for all those suffering aches and pains. I've gotten away lightly so far do hoping that continues - just a little lower back pain when I get into bed at night.
Big news here....think me and DP have finally reached an agreement on a baby name! I thought it would never happen! How are you all getting on with names?

Fedupithink · 16/08/2016 07:16

Oh that's great news Slumber we can't get past our shortlist of 10!!

Are you outside the UK or were you just awake like me last night? Not sure how I can be a sensible, rational work person today on about 20 minutes sleep Confused

CocklesandMussels · 16/08/2016 08:18

Nice knickers! (Phone autocorrected that to knockers..)
Thanks for the PGP/SPD tips. I'm going to book an osteopath appointment, i really really can't go on mat leave any earlier than I am already.
I'm jealous of those who have names sorted. We have a list but it's quite long and not very organised. Having said that, DD's name wasn't even on the shortlist so we might just leave it and name them in a sleep deprived haze afterwards.

tapismagique · 16/08/2016 09:31

Oh dear we are not making progress on any of these fronts! No furniture, no clothes, no hospital bag, no birth plan, no disposable knickers, no name ... We can't get beyond comical Vikings-themed names (Ragnar, anyone? OK if you are top Icelandic goalscorer, not OK if you are weedy London kid...and I don't even like Vikings, unlike DH). Right! I am going to do something about this and buy a packet of 7 vests from sainsbury's online. They are having a 25% off clothing so it's £4.50 - bargain!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 16/08/2016 09:36

tapis we're in the same boat. I have done very little and certainly have no names. Before I found out I was having a boy, I had shitloads of girl's names that I loved and not one boy's name. I just haven't come across any that I actually like! Yet every day there's a girl's name I come across and think "ooh that's lovely" about Envy

I am going to pick up a car seat on Friday though, so that's one less thing to do! Although I still need to get an Isofix base and the adaptors for the pram.

tiredmumrighthere · 16/08/2016 10:59

I am so unorganised this time round Confused apart from a few clothes, bibs and nappies she hasn't got much! Still renovating this house which is stressing me right out!!! Think we have our name though

tapismagique · 16/08/2016 11:00

well, if anyone is in the mood for baby clothes shopping and has just been/is about to be paid, I can recommend the polarn o pyret sale - i got an extra 20% off with the code EXT20 and have gone wild for baby sunhats for our planned wintersun holiday in february.

I'm telling myself that this is good nesting/preparation...

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 16/08/2016 11:52

We were hoping to get some winter sun too but were unsure about booking before the baby is born. I was concerned that I don't know what sort of baby he'll be in terms of crying/sleeping etc so a long flight was a worry! Where are you heading to tapis?

tapismagique · 16/08/2016 12:06

Canaries, in feb with the in laws (they go all the time). we've been there before, so I know what's in store. it's a longish flight - 3 hours - but fairly easy otherwise. But we're also considering going to Germany with my family for christmas which is much more hair-raising as it'll be snowing, none of us have been to the place, and the baby will only be about 6 weeks old! others on this thread have been reassuring that it's possible, but we are going to see how it goes and decide the week before. and people in general say it can be easier travelling with a very small baby than one that's a bit older. however I have absolutely zero experience so what do i know! My mum took twins to south america (to live) when they were 1 month old.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 16/08/2016 13:26

You've given me hope Grin have you booked an extra seat for the baby on the flight or are you just going to keep him/her on your lap?

Slumberparty · 16/08/2016 13:45

Fedup Yes I'm outside the UK but also Yes to being awake a lot in the night. DP came back after a long work trip so having him in the bed was keeping me awake. I has been enjoying a whole bed and duvet to myself!

Spottyladybird · 16/08/2016 15:05

Sainsburys has its 25% off clothes at the moment which includes Muslins and socks etc. you can order online and collect in store which is quite useful.

corinne65 · 16/08/2016 17:10

Spotty - very odd that autocorrect has capitalised Muslins - maybe it thought you meant Muslims??

Tapis - I quite like the viking names - my husband is South African but originally Denmark so we have a danish surname. I do think you need to try out the first name & surname & see if it's even pronounceable!!

I too have a pack of the sexy disposable knickers!!!

I've got my first NCT class tonight - my main mission is to keep my mouth shut for at least the first class - fat chance!!

tapismagique · 16/08/2016 17:26

muffy haven't booked a seat for the December trip, as I think we don't need one but can just tell them (easyjet) that we're bringing a baby. but now am starting to worry about carseats etc once we're there...

corinne the surname issue a nightmare, as DP's is baaaad, and double-barrelling would sound absolutely ridiculous. the compromise so far is that we'll have mine and his (un-barrelled) on the birth certificate so we/the child can decide later on whether to use one or both. but it does mean that we can't be too exotic in the choice of a first name, i think

tapismagique · 16/08/2016 17:27

oh, pressed post too early - i meant to say that i'm looking forward to a report back from the nct class. i'm still in several minds about whether to do one

Spottyladybird · 16/08/2016 17:31

Haha it did autocorrect to Muslims and I changed it but obviously forgot to change the capital.

I fell asleep this afternoon for an hour. Was giving DD aged 3 a bit of downtime (beebies!!) and fell asleep.

Fedupithink · 16/08/2016 18:15

Oh I hope NCT goes well Corinne mine doesn't start until the end of September!

I have thought finally managed to find a proper pregnancy yoga class which doesn't start mid-afternoon! First class is at 7.

user1463856515 · 16/08/2016 20:46

Hi all, have followed thread since start, and finally joining in! Love hearing everyone's experiences and advice.
I'm due 24th Nov, and this is our 1st. Don't know the sex as DP wants a surprise on the day - haha!
Downside of this is I can't go out buying the gorgeous pink/blue stuff I see everywhere.
Just wandered what u're all doing with sleeping arrangements for baby during the day? I have a moses basket but don't want to lug it up&down the stairs between day/night. What are your plans?
Also, any advice on monitors or sterilisers would be fab...bit confused with those 😊 Thanks!

Spottyladybird · 16/08/2016 21:17

I weighed myself today for the first time in ages. I'll be 28 weeks this week and have gone up from 9st2 to 10st10, that's 10kg up. It seems like it's all bump but what's everyone else's weight gain been like? I googled and it looked like 10kg was upper end of normal at this point.

tiredmumrighthere · 16/08/2016 21:54

Spotty I've put on exactly a stone and I'm 27+1, I've notice that I'm a lot wider too Confused I was sat in front of a mirror in new look today and I couldn't believe how wide my hips are Shock

So I noticed today that the baby's movement has changed! Before it was a quick jab or kick, now it's feet knees and elbows getting stuck in really uncomfortable place and me having to get her to move by pushing on her!

Feeling so tired today too and my feet just ache Sad I actually said the words today (I'm so done) to Dp and he took pleasure I swear in reminding me that there's still 13 weeks to go Shock

Ionacat · 16/08/2016 22:20

We are stuck on names - trials of being a teacher! We are down to two for a boy but have no ideas for a girl.
With monitors, we had a cheap one for DD - you could hear anyway without it. Sterliser - just had a cheapy one for the microwave that came with my breast pump.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 16/08/2016 22:23

I didn't even weigh myself at the beginning so have no idea how much I've put on! I seem to be all belly (for now) though and my bump is still fairy small I think, so I can't imagine it's all that much. Who knows though, I could be full of fluid!

coppergrey · 16/08/2016 22:34

Haven't weighed myself for a week or so but last time I checked I was 11st9 up from 10st11, so just under a stone. My bump is pretty big but it's all out front and everything else seems about the same so not too fussed really!

FuzzyOwl · 16/08/2016 22:54

Hi user and congratulations. We will be using a sleepyhead and taking it up and downstairs with us when required. What kind of monitor are you after - video, sensor mat or just audio? I used the electric Tommee Tippee steriliser last time and whilst it was quite big and bulky (so took up space) it did store all the clean bottles etc throughout the day which was an advantage. Otherwise I used the MAM self sterilising bottles and the microwave, but they are really hot to begin with so need to cool for a while.

We haven't completely decided on a name yet although I think it is out of two. I've started buying a couple of things for my hospital bag but not got as far as packing anything yet.
