We have bought 108 newborn nappies because they were on offer. That's it so far. What more does a baby need..?! Wink

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/07/2016 12:32

Well copper's Bugaboo-buy inspired me to start Googling, now I'm going to collect a second hand Bugaboo Chameleon for a vey good price in the morning. Excited! (I haven't told DP as he wanted to buy brand new - I didn't see the point. It'll be a surprise for when he gets back from work tomorrow Grin)

onthemetro · 29/07/2016 12:50

We've got our pram, about 6 packs of baby wipes, a pack of nappies, 6 babygros, 3 bibs and a couple of bottles which were reduced massively in an Asda baby event a few months ago.

I've also got maternity pads, breast pads and a tube of Lansinoh which were in the Mothercare sale.
I have an Amazon baby wish list and I feel like I'm quite organised in terms of I know what I'm going to be buying...just haven't got round to it yet!

Is anyone else's boobs leaking?! It's totally freaking me out but it's also kinda exciting!

Fedupithink · 29/07/2016 12:52

I've been buying nappies, wipes and toiletries like nipple cream and maternity pads with every weeks food shop. I only buy when on offer plus I get the clubcard points which I boost every few months for cinema and restaurant vouchers for date nights.

I got my Snuzpod on the mamas and papas offer too plus we bought lots of clothes, blankets, muslins etc in there a few weeks back to get the £15 vouchers.

I've also bought a few books and started reading to bump and we have wallpaper samples narrowed down to a choice of 4.

Feeling quite on top of things at the moment but I'm due a hormone related panic sometime soon so I'm sure that will encourage more spending Wink

Fedupithink · 29/07/2016 12:54

onthe yes! Mine have started, only very tiny amounts which I noticed in my bra at the end of the day. Weird but hoping its a good sign as I'd love to breastfeed if I'm able.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/07/2016 12:56

Oh gosh, you all sound so organised and now I'm starting to worry about my lack of organisation! I haven't even figured out sleeping arrangements yet..!

RuskBaby · 29/07/2016 13:08

Our baby has a book Hmm I'm thinking we should start shopping at some point fairly soon.

CakeAndChocolate · 29/07/2016 13:23

Rusk I'm so glad you said that, this baby has a cuddly toy

bobcat85 · 29/07/2016 13:23

So far we have a travel system and the next to me crib which are all sitting in their boxes currently. Also have a changing table I bought for £10 and a few clothes.

We're currently decorating the nursery so we're having to get a few bits for that (laminate flooring and wallpaper). Once the nursery is done I'll probably start picking a few more bits up such as nappies and things. On Tuesday I'll be 25 weeks and 15 weeks doesn't seem that long to get stuff sorted.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/07/2016 13:33

Rusk and Chocolate you have made me feel miles better!

onthemetro · 29/07/2016 14:08

fedup Same here, even though it's really early and it's no guarantee that things will go according to plan it's still reassuring to see something happening there!

tiredmumrighthere · 29/07/2016 14:25

I'm not organised at all this time round and on Monday I'll be 25 wks and I keep telling DP that I'm starting to panic and I really am!!

We're still in the process of renovating, got my daughters bday in October then the baby due middle of Nov and sons bday end of Nov and then Xmas Confused the house is my biggest panic because I wanted it finished for when baby came but in reality I don't think it will beSad everything's money and time and the weeks are flying by! 15 weeks is no time so I'm an emotional wreck right nowSad we've bought nothing for the baby yet and all he keeps saying is "we've got ages yet" I seriously want to shake men drive me crazy they have no sense of time what so ever!!!!!!

tiredmumrighthere · 29/07/2016 14:27

Shake him**

tapismagique · 29/07/2016 16:39

We have got nothing so far - there's still 14 weeks to go! but 3 people have left dumped unwanted moses baskets at MIL's so the crib is definitely sorted...

smellsofelderberries · 29/07/2016 17:00

We have the cot, the Bugaboo Donkey has a deposit paid and we'll collect it when we get to Sydney, change bag, books (mostly bought before we conceived though!), a chest of draws and change may topper, and a few items of clothing. Still need to buy the car seat, nappies, wipes and other practical bits like maternity pads etc.

Metro, yes. Some days more than others, but stuff is definitely happening. I spoke to my sister about it to ask if makeup pads in my bra was the best way of dealing and she said she leaked a bit with her boys (although she started later, more like 30 weeks) and she had excellent milk supply and found breastfeeding (comparatively) easy. Apparently after she gave birth the midwife sort of pressed on her breast and all this milk trickled out and the midwife was very impressed and my sister was very proud Grin I'm also hoping it's a good sign as I really want to breastfeed mostly because I'm super lazy and bottles are a real faff.

coppergrey · 30/07/2016 08:10

M&P code is back! EXTRA10. Gonna try get the Maxi-Cosi car seat and base this time round! Grin

Fedupithink · 30/07/2016 09:58

I've just booked a place on the next Mamas and Papas parents to be event at my closest store - it's free and only 2 hours but says we will be entitled to exclusive discounts, advise from a midwife, info on first aid and car seat safety, demos on products and dowry advice plus drinks and nibbles.

In the confirmation email they sent it sets out some of the discounts on spend which are between 10-20%:
£400 off if you spend £2000
£200 off if you spend £1000
£75 off if you spend £500
£25 off if you spend £250
£10 off if you spend £100

Definitely worth booking a place if you plan to spend a bit in there!

CocklesandMussels · 30/07/2016 10:27

Thanks for the M&P tip again copper.
For car seats and bases check out pramworld.co.uk they do the Cabriofix plus base for about £195 as a package, I think it's cheaper even with the 10%

coppergrey · 30/07/2016 14:34

Yep definitely check the prices elsewhere before buying - the Maxi-Cosi FamilyFix base is £175 on M&P and only £149.99 on John Lewis! They do say they'll price match at M&P, though.

We went for the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus and 2Way base - ridiculously expensive but we'll be using the car lots and I wanted a really good system. Saved £45 with my gift vouchers and then the 10% so not too bad!

tiredmumrighthere · 30/07/2016 18:55

Just to let all of you know the snuzpod is on sale in toys r us atm, it's gone down to £129.99

Stretchedfortime · 31/07/2016 10:58

Also on discounts, in case anyone's looking for nursing bras, hot milk have 50% off on many, including some of their bestsellers.

onthemetro · 31/07/2016 11:12

Thanks for that tired! That's a good price for the Snuzpod, although it doesn't come with a mattress. But that's on sale there too for £39.99 Grin - going to see what DP thinks of this one vs the Next2Me and hopefully we'll be buying one later. Exciting!

bobcat85 · 31/07/2016 12:21

Has anyone used a Purflo Sleep Pod instead of a Sleepyhead? I'm a bit hesitant to pay £100 for a pillow and the Purflo seems to be exactly the same but at half the price. Looking to use it with the Chicco Next To Me crib.

smellsofelderberries · 31/07/2016 20:37

So, tomorrow is my due date for the baby I lost in January this year. I feel okay about things, just a bit weird I guess. We are down seeing the in laws before we move and did something today that we were supposed to do on Mothers Day this year, but had to postpone due to FIL getting sick. I wasn't supposed to go on Mothers Day originally as I had planned a boozy brunch with girlfriends to console myself instead, and SIL said 'oh, so glad you can come now! And you get to celebrate Mothers Day because now you're going to be a Mum! You know, now that you've made it past 12 weeks...' I swear to god, if looks could kill! What, my baby didn't count? Because I didn't make it past some arbitrary pregnancy date I was never considered a Mum? I guess I just also found it hard to hear so soon after hitting the 24 week 'viability' mark with this pregnancy. I really really hate that word and everything it stands for.

Sorry all, I just really needed to get that out. I felt like a Mum long before I even conceived, and to hear that I only now 'qualify' in her books really wound me up Sad

CakeAndChocolate · 31/07/2016 21:45

Thinking of you smells that is tough. I've been through similar after I lost my DS1, people are just so bloody thoughtless. Flowers
