She's beautiful. Look at that little face. It's like a sculpture.

coppergrey · 28/07/2016 10:43

Oh, look at her! What an amazing picture. So lovely, Slumber x

Thurlow · 28/07/2016 10:47

That's a beautiful picture!

Bollyroo · 28/07/2016 12:57

Oh Slumber, how gorgeous! She looks so peaceful there! I can't believe we'll be meeting them so soon! Was it a scan just to see her? I'm really tempted to go in a few weeks. Yay!

bobcat85 · 28/07/2016 13:16

Does anyone know a good website for maternity summer dresses? I'm going to a baby shower next weekend (not mine, someone elses) and I can't seem to find any decent ones.

helenatroy · 28/07/2016 13:23

There is a nice grey stripey one on new look website. Jojo mama Bebe have some nice ones and they have a good sale on at the minute. Maternity wear is not great. But I also got some nice non maternity ones in Cos which fit the bump beautifully.

Slumberparty · 28/07/2016 13:55

Bollyroo it was a standard midwife appointment but I'm in Hong Kong and the appointments are private. My midwife has an ultrasound machine and likes to play with it so get to see the baby a lot! This was the first time we actually got to see a 3D picture though. I've got an 'official' 4D scan in a few weeks and can't wait now!!

coppergrey · 28/07/2016 13:57

Bobcat I've got a few from ASOS - quality is a bit hit and miss but there is some decent stuff in there.

Stripykitten · 28/07/2016 14:28

Do you still live around here, LittleGreyCat?
You don't happen to have a real little grey cat, do you? One of my neighbours does!

I'm hoping for a water birth as well at a midwife led unit. I thought about hypnobirth, though I must say I'm pretty sceptical. My sister in law did it and in her own words 'it was the biggest waste of money of her life'. :/

Anyway, I had the nicest experience at my 25 week appointment yesterday. I got to listen to baby's galloping heartbeat and the midwife said her heart rate went up when I laughed. Either she recognises my laughter or she likes the movement! I can't put into words how amazing that felt!!

I've also signed for NCT classes at the beginning of October. Super looking forward to it.

coppergrey · 28/07/2016 14:43

That sounds so lovely Stripey! Is listening to the heartbeat standard for midwife appointments from now on, or does it vary from place to place like at the 16w appointment? Would be so nice to hear the heart beat again at my 25w appointment.

I'm hoping for a water birth too - husband is a bit grossed out by the 'poo situation' but I'm not bothered at all! Don't think I'll go for hypnobirthing as in general, I feel pretty calm and happy about the thought of giving birth. This may change with time but for now I'm just going with it!

We're booked for NCT, starts mid October. Looking forward to it as well!

Stripykitten · 28/07/2016 15:11

I'm not sure if it varies copper, but I would guess it doesn't cos they said we would do that at every appointment from now on. :)

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 28/07/2016 16:34

Bobcat New Look have one or two okay dresses, but generally the maternity wear I've seen is awful (why is everything made for work?! Or stripy! I have nothing against stripes but I don't want to live in the day in, day out...)

I have been wearing stretchy midi-dresses in varying colours. If you want to go cheap and cheerful (since they're only going to be worn for a few more months now!) Primark sell midi-dresses for £6! I have just bought loads of them (they're obviously very cheaply made so don't last very long) and because of the shape they can be dressed up with some nice accessories and shoes or dressed down with flat sandals or trainers.

bobcat85 · 28/07/2016 17:54

Thanks for the recommendations everyone, I'm finding it difficult to find anything nice. Like you say Muffy everything is work wear (and awful). I'll have a hunt around this evening.

Lovely picture Slumber :)

Had my 24 week midwife appointment today. Listened to the heartbeat and could hear him hiccuping.

Haven't really thought about my birth plan, might have a read up on things this weekend.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 28/07/2016 18:08

Still local stripy - live in Milton Keynes now but both our families are in LB and I work there so we spend a lot of time there (but can't afford to live there while DH is a sahp!). And I do have a grey cat with a pink collar - she was sat on my lap when i came up with the nn! Blush

Spottyladybird · 28/07/2016 18:23

Hate maternity wear. It's so frumpy with bad fabrics.

I'm doing lots of Jersey maxi skirts (non maternity) under the bump with maternity vests and tshirts at the moment.

Fedupithink · 28/07/2016 18:47

Ahh Slumber that pic is gorgeous!

I'm tempted to book another private scan to see her again. We had one at 15 weeks and saw the 4D bit even though we hadn't booked that kind of scan. So amazing to compare the changes between then and now.

My DH has just text to say the Snuzpod has arrived! Can't wait to get home!

JadeT2 · 28/07/2016 19:40

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, I was back to work today sadly, but glad to be out of the hospital! I'm struggling with work wear at the moment, maternity stuff is pretty horrible. I also have a fancy dress party to attend next week which should be interesting.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 28/07/2016 19:51

Jersey maxi dresses are all I wear at the moment!

Spottyladybird · 28/07/2016 20:43

I did two lots of fancy dress last time:

Normal clothes with a Mr Bump cutout over the top!

Fat cat in the hat- all black with cat in the hat set!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/07/2016 09:44

I like the Mr Bump idea Spotty!

I saw a picture online a couple of years ago where a pregnant woman had dressed up as Miley Cyrus' wrecking ball. It was quite well done Grin

On a separate note, how much have you all start buying? I haven't even started looking at prams yet and haven't bought anything else at all! I'm suddenly getting the urge to go on a baby-shopping spree though although I'm thinking it may be a bit early still?

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/07/2016 09:48

Here are some good fancy dress ideas Jade. Mostly Halloween-focused but some that can be used all year round!

coppergrey · 29/07/2016 10:23

Muffy, I'm only buying things if I see them on offer. So far we have our pram (Bugaboo, had a £120 saving at John Lewis) and Snuzpod (10% off and £15 gift card at Mamas & Papas) then a selection of stuff (bouncer, muslins, thermometer, car window blinds!!) I bought in the Amazon Prime Day deals.

I also have quite a lot of clothes which have mostly been sent to me by friends/family/lovely work clients! Although I'm 24w next week and if all goes well at my midwife appointment I think it'll be full steam ahead on buying stuff. We're painting the nursery tomorrow, too... mostly because it's the only weekend we have free for a while now!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/07/2016 10:28

Wow that's a good deal on the pram! I really like the Bugaboos but they're quite expensive in comparison to similar (albeit less attractive) prams, so I hope I see a deal like this somewhere!

coppergrey · 29/07/2016 10:32

That saving was for the foot muff - it came free when you bought the pram, rather than having to buy it separately which seems to be the deal everywhere else!

I think a few people bought their prams with the 10% M&P code, too. Bugaboo seems to never, ever be discounted so worth snapping up any offers you see!

Spottyladybird · 29/07/2016 11:19

We started buying at the weekend, we're replacing things we borrowed first time round so bought a Moses Basket and a steriliser/breast pump/bottle set in the Mothercare sale.
The steriliser set was s bargain- Philips Avent set, normally £150 at the moment £55.
