Oops, pressed post too soon!
I was really upset earlier today cos I realised I'm a couple pounds over the recommended weight gain and that I'm putting it on at a totally irregular rate. Reading this makes me so much better!! I know I do have to cut down on the junk food though. Hee...

Baby''s super active kicking away, quite low down as well but she's my first so i assumed that's just normal??

tiredmumrighthere · 20/07/2016 09:53

Has anyone been experiencing lots of pressure down below?

I first noticed this last week when I was walking down the stairs, it's feels like there's something about to fall out of my Minnie Confused and it felt like I was bursting for a wee, but when I got to the bathroom I done the most pathetic wee in history! This is my fifth child and never had this before its horrible Confused even happens when I stand up or when I'm walking sometimes.

Also been losing this white gooey looking stuff, thought it could be my plug as I've never had this before either Confused it looks like snot and is sticky, anyone else had this?

It's amazing how each pregnancy can be so different x

Stretchedfortime · 20/07/2016 10:25

Stripy - you've made my day.

Slumberparty · 20/07/2016 10:54

tiredmum Yes I've had that pressure feeling a few times. It's a weird feeling like my bump suddenly feels heavy and I need to support it. I go to the toilet incase it's my bladder causing that feeling and hardly anything comes out. The feeling doesn't seem to last that long but have had it a few times.

Fedupithink · 20/07/2016 13:02

I'm still in the dark about my weight gain to be honest, I got weighed twice yesterday - once by the midwife at my doctors surgery and once at the gym. The gain is apparently somewhere between 6-11lbs or 3-5kgs.

I had a bmi of 26 pre-pregnancy so slightly overweight and then lost 2kgs in the first trimester, weighing the same at 9&12 weeks. Haven't been weighed since but I think based on yesterday's figures I'm happy-ish.

My thighs and bum have gotten bigger which I hate but that is where I carry weight so not a surprise really. I just want to be mindful of it as I have been slightly bigger before and I find it hard to shift so don't want to cause myself anymore hard work once baby is here than necessary.

Bollyroo · 20/07/2016 13:27

Well I'm the opposite to most people here and I'm amazed how everyone's bodies behave so differently. I lost 4kg in the first tri but wasn't sick (don't hate me) and have only just passed my pre-preggo weight. I am very average in every way. Not really concerned as I'm sure my body knows what to do. I have noticed I'm eating more sweet stuff than usual but other than that I'm eating what I normally eat.

What I'm finding interesting is my girth... I measure my middle at belly button level. I measured at the weekend and was 95cm around. By last night, I'd put on another 2cm! Holy guaca! I'm ballooning. But no stretch marks yet so fingers crossed its just a massive growth spurt that will plateau very soon!

Thurlow · 20/07/2016 13:43

I think I've gained just under a stone. Feeling a bit urgh about that even though it is in the normal bracket, and also I don't look like I'm gaining loads of weight. Just like Bolly I lost weight last pregnancy, so just gaining is a new experience for me.

corinne65 · 20/07/2016 17:01

I googled images of 25 weeks pregnant & the variance in how women look is amazing - some look full term whilst others look barely pregnant!! The great thing about being 51 is that you don't care so much any more what your body looks like afterwards (silver lining & all that).

Onto cribs - am thinking the Chicco Next2Me - has anyone got one or got anything else to recommend (Bed nest? Snuzpod?)

coppergrey · 20/07/2016 17:22

Stretched that was a really interesting read, thanks for sharing!

The weight side doesn't bother me too much but I am a bit unhappy with my eating habits, which I can't seem to improve! I eat mostly as normal but I have such an appetite for sweet stuff and not much of one for vegetables!

Stripykitten · 20/07/2016 20:16

Hi corinne, I went for the snuzpod (it's on sale at the moment for £179 including the matress at several shops). Two things i liked bether than the Chicco next to me is that 1) you can use it as a bassinet and move it around and 2) you can zip the side up without having to undo the straps that hold it to your bed. On the other hand, it's not as easy to transport if you plan to travel with your little one and it doesn't have the reclining option which is good for babies that have reflux. I thought that if that's the case, I could probably solve with a cushion or something.
Hope that helps.

Fedupithink · 21/07/2016 08:10

We're also going for the Snuzpod for the same reasons as Stripy plus I like the look of it better, more compact and it has the shelf underneath and bars at both ends for storage/muslins etc.

tiredmumrighthere · 21/07/2016 12:49

Horrible isn't it slumber! Also getting cramp loads in my legs, only happens if I point my toes so I normally wake up to it in the night Confused

So happy that's it's cooled down loads today, might get a better sleep tonight!

bobcat85 · 21/07/2016 13:13

corinne65 we went for the Chicco Next to me as it will be staying in the bedroom and I didn't need anything that needed moving around. Plus looking at them both I didn't really like the look of the Snuzpod.

latinata · 21/07/2016 13:56

Sorry if this straw poll has been done before but when is everyone planning on stopping work?

I'm planning to stop at 37+4 but my (Argentine) midwife told me I was totally crazy to leave it so late. I won't have great ambitions for work achievements in the last few weeks but want to maximise time off with the baby & my MATL cover doesn't start until December, so as long as I don't go into labour I think I'd rather crack on.

Grateful for your wisdom!!

tiredmumrighthere · 21/07/2016 14:31

Hi everyone,

So been seeing lots of things lately about group strep b, and am wanting to be tested for it, anyone had this test done before and know how I go about this? Apparently the nhs one is only 50% accurate but the emc test which you pay privately for is 90% accurate!

onthemetro · 21/07/2016 14:46

We're going for the Next2me as well, although seeing that the Snuzpod is on sale made me take a second look at it and now I'm wondering if I'd rather have that because you can move the top bit around. But because this is my first I have no idea if I'm going to want to move baby around in it? Confused

I was planning on starting maternity leave on the 1st Nov (due date is 17th) but I still have about 5 weeks hols to take so really I'd be off work from the end of September. I'm really, really struggling with work though so I'm considering going earlier but then I wonder wtf will I do for all that time before baby comes?!

Stretchedfortime · 21/07/2016 15:00

I'm planning on stopping at week 36. But I've never done this before and am fully expecting to be annoyed with myself for leaving it so late. I am though going to start working from home 2 days per week from next week and have cancelled two of four work trips between now and then, I just know I can't do that at the moment. I'm already struggling a lot!

Fedupithink · 21/07/2016 15:09

My last day will be when I'm 35+6, followed by 3 weeks of annual leave before my mat leave starts. I've already recruited my replacement and she will be starting mid-September for a months handover. My last working day is 14th October - 12 weeks tomorrow. Arghhh!! Scary thought!

Thurlow · 21/07/2016 15:38

My last day in the office will be when I have just turned 36w. Then I've got a week's annual leave, and start official maternity leave at 37+5 (a week and a weekend later). Though to be honest, I have another week's annual leave to use during September so will probably work 4 day weeks, and work from home around that too. And I'm just about to start WFH one day a week now. I'm having an ELCS so that should mean baby is coming somewhere in the 39th week, which changes things slightly.

In my first pregnancy I worked until about 37w as well, but used a lot of annual leave and the Christmas holidays to afford that.

If your commute isn't too bad and your work isn't too physical I'd leave it as late as possible, as long as your work understand it might change.

A friend of mine did leave it to work up to 38w, left work on the Friday and had the baby Sunday am Grin

Thurlow · 21/07/2016 15:39

FedUp, I think my maternity cover is starting in about a fortnight's time! Nothing like a loooong handover Grin (in fairness we are manic, so an extra pair of hands for two months will be bliss)

DuckWaddle · 21/07/2016 16:27

Last time I worked until 38 weeks and that was plenty of time!! But, it all depends on how you feel and whether the baby is early or late. I was actually bored! This time I'm planning on trying to stop in sept- I've got an awful commute and don't think I could cope after that

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 21/07/2016 17:27

Last time I took mat leave from 37 wks. This time my first day is at 38+1 but the week before is half term so won't be working that week!

RuskBaby · 21/07/2016 18:10

I'm finishing work at 32+5, unfortunately I won't receive maternity pay so money wise no point in staying any longer. I'm planning on being a lady that lunches, reads, shops and generally chills out Grin figure it will be my last ever time to just be

Canters15 · 21/07/2016 18:11

I'm stopping at 35 weeks. I'm tired already, I love the idea of some long lie ins and relaxing and reading books before the madness of baby!

bobcat85 · 21/07/2016 18:23

I'm leaving as early as possible as I'm finding work and the commute really tiring. I'm taking two weeks annual leave from 28+6 weeks then taking maternity leave from 30+6. Really looking forward to it, only 5 weeks 1 day to go.
