I didn't think any of the European cases have originated there? Sexually transmitted or caught abroad? I'd still go so long as I wasn't contravening FCO advice (so no Florida now that it has originated there from a mozzie bite).

goinggrey1978 · 30/07/2016 21:07

anyone bought any crib bedding yet and where's the best places to look or get it from please??

lilydaisyrose · 31/07/2016 05:23

I haven't bought anything yet apart from some maternity tops and some Christmas sleepsuits! This really is baby on a budget, so hoping to get away with a sling, some nappies and a few second/third hand sleepsuits!! Re. crib bedding - I'm not sure what this is? We just used sheets and grobags.

I am always awake now between 4am-6am roughly. I wake for the loo then can't get back to sleep. If I'm lucky, the kids let me get another hour or so (school hols) before they wake up. Tonight though, we have a sicky hot child in with us so think that might be it for me tonight!

21+2 now & quite a few very low down kicks daily. News is properly out now & hopefully will spread a wee bit further before the schools are back in a cpl of weeks.

Snap lily, I'm bright as a button after my dawn wee, but shattered again an hour later and can't get back to sleep!

Late night last night and am a bridesmaid today so desperately need another hour this morning, especially since I can't rely on caffeine now!

SouthDownsSunshine · 31/07/2016 07:17

goinggrey gro bags are the best for sleeping. You can get cheap supermarket own versions, or pick them up at a nearly new sale for a few ££. When we had dd swaddled, we used those blankets with holes in on top. I can't remember what they're called!

A waterproof mattress cover is essential, there will be a midnight poonami at some point.

StubbleTurnips · 31/07/2016 08:38

Not sure if anyone was after a travel system and Chicco next to me - there's a bundle offer on at precious little ones via Emma's diary - for £350. Might be worth it for those on a budget.

Thisisbonkers · 31/07/2016 09:00

Any advice on afterbite cream I can use? I'm guessing my hydrocortisone is out... Scratch, scratch, scratch.

barkingtreefrog · 31/07/2016 09:11

So far we've been given a second hand Silver cross travel system, a cot, an Amny hammock (just need to buy a new mattress) and loads of clothes (unfortunately most of them pink, which I wouldn't choose myself but not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!) And I've been passed on a lot of maternity tops and dresses. My mum is knitting a baby blanket and my grandma is churning through cardigans. Feeling very lucky!
Still can't handle buying anything myself yet other than maternity clothes as nothing fits anymore (still haven't found any maternity work trousers that fit).
We're going to Slovenia next week, and have a cottage in Cornwall booked for October half term. At that point I will be buying stuff as I'll want a hospital bag with me just in case given I have two friends who had their babies at 34 weeks!!!! And we'll be a long way from home (Yorkshire).

barkingtreefrog · 31/07/2016 09:14

bonkers damn, hadn't thought of that! I realised yesterday I couldn't take antihistamines to relieve the itching so put an ice pack on the bites to numb them, and occasionally sprayed the hosepipe on both legs! (Walked the dog through long grass etc with shorts on, legs came up a treat!)

becciandbump · 31/07/2016 10:07

We are going to Ireland as hopefully no Zika there after our early worries about conceiving abroad we have a scan to assess the head for Zika at 24 weeks x

Bigfam · 31/07/2016 10:20

Oh my God I'm already getting the feeling that I can't breath properly! Previous mw's have said it happens when growing uterus starts to push everything 'up' but I wasn't expecting it this early on! Any first time mum's this is honestly something that is on the list of 'worst ever pregnancy symptoms' not sure how common it is, so hopefully you don't get it. But I hate it and it doesn't usually start til 30+ weeks 😦

IslandLife · 31/07/2016 10:37

Bigfam - I'm getting the opposite....everything is so low down I feel like a kangaroo carrying around a baby in a pouch. When the midwife eventually found the heartbeat the other day, it was almost in my groin! Hopefully everything will move up a bit in time.

goinggrey1978 · 31/07/2016 11:08

Thanks everyone, was just a little concerned about the grow bags as if bubble was small and head fits throught the hole at the top I've seen that you can't use them, I have 2 2nd knitted blankets and 2 more on the way, just wanted to be prepared for night time messes and have enough fitted bottom sheets and blankets as I have no tumble dryera although I'd just take it all round my mum's if there was a major mess!!

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/07/2016 12:25

Barking are you on the Berry FB group?? You'll be basically driving past me on the A30 if you want a coffee stop! We moved here from Catterick Grin

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/07/2016 12:27

From memory gro age are ok from 8lbs?

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/07/2016 12:27

Bags not age!

SouthDownsSunshine · 31/07/2016 13:00

DD was only 6lb7oz but went into a gro bag pretty quickly (big head). The branded ones have poppers under the armpits for little ones.

TinySalmon · 31/07/2016 13:36

Gosh, I'm surprised so many of you are so organised with baby stuff already. I've only bought maternity clothes. We haven't even chosen which room of the house we want to be baby's nursery (currently only DP and I rattling around in a 5 bedroom house). I plan to get everything in one weekend when I'm around 30 weeks.

Re holidays and Zika: we are going to South of France in August... I'm more worried about terrorists than Zika if I'm honest :/ Then Australia after that, but it is winter time there so not worried about mosquitos. I did have to decline one of my best friend's 30th Birthday Party invite to Mexico in October though as way way too risky :(

Growing by the day here! I've now put on 3kg and only wearing maternity clothes (19+5). Really suffering with needing to wee ALL THE TIME and waking up at 5am for the loo and just thinking "fuck it, I'm awake now, might as well start my day". So so tired!

weechops · 31/07/2016 13:46

Hey all. I've been feeling great for a while, not too tired, plenty of energy. But yesterday i spent the whole day at a country park with the kids and today I am exhausted and my hip is killing me! Having a lazy day at home today Smile

Dueindecember2016 · 31/07/2016 14:29

Hi everyone. New here :)

How's everyone's movements feeling? We couldn't resist putting the cot bed up today! On the plus side, it's been great for storage, so much stuff in there already

goinggrey1978 · 31/07/2016 14:48

well bubble has taken to fidgeting a lot when its bedtime and really doesn't like me laying on my left side at all, plus all that jumping on my bladder during the night means plenty of wee stops, don't know whether it the excitement and nerves of the 20 weeks scan on tuesday as well which is also affecting my sleep patterns!! fingers crossed after tuesday i'll sleep a lot better!!

Dueindecember2016 · 31/07/2016 17:10

I have mine on Friday. I always start to feel nervous the week before but I'm excited to see our little lady again

becciandbump · 31/07/2016 17:13

Baby moving around more now and feeling it several times a day which is nice. tinysalmon im impressed that you will do a mammoth shopping trip at 30weeks, I have needed to do it in stages as I get tired after an hour around the shops now!!

Minispringroll · 31/07/2016 17:36

goinggrey We got some fitted sheets from IKEA. Depends on the size of your cot, though, I would think. Ours is 60x120.

Thisisbonkers I've been continuing to use my hydrocortisone. Pharmacist said it's ok and the midwife didn't bat an eyelid when I mentioned it. I've got neurodermatitis, which gets worse when I am stressed or when anything unsettles me hormonally. It's usually under control but flared up in the first trimester.

Little one is moving about a lot, especially since I have started the holidays. Probably because I've got more time and I'm not constantly rushing around after other people's children. He seems to like the hammock and I think he falls asleep. Grin

Tinysalmon I'm not sure I could do it in one weekend. I'm trying to spread the cost a little. Additionally, I've found several vouchers I'd been given over the past few years (I never seem to use them) and have used those for different sales...or for stuff I wouldn't normally buy. My parents are coming for a visit when I'll be about 33 weeks and I know my mum wants to go shopping then as well. Smile

barkingtreefrog · 31/07/2016 19:13

Dartmoor I'm in the main berry fb group, not strayed into the grads yet as it still upsets me to see all the toddlers that are the same age my first would have been (I was part of the first berry cluster diff back in 2012). I'm still quite bitter about how much happier the last 4 years of my life might have been if my first baby had survived and I hadn't had to go through all the other treatments and lose two more!

What's a reasonable time to go to bed? I went for a 1.5 hour dog walk this morning, another 1.5 hour dog walk this afternoon and then to a bbq. Absolutely knackered and quite clearly I'm not able to do anything else productive this evening so I'm thinking I might just give up and go to bed...
